If you’re watching this on YouTube, these are the quick updates I do in the afternoon. This is really an audio podcast about twelve minute episodes come out seven days a week. If you’re listening to the RSS feed. What everybody else is staring at right now is my pool vacuum. This is a solar powered robot that is supposed to be skimming the top of the pool, and we’re looking at some leaves.
And I don’t really know what makes this thing decide to go into attack mode or not. It is solar powered and it does need to recharge, but I’m waiting patiently here. It’s pointed right at the leaves, and if we get lucky, it’ll go into attack mode and clean up the pool right here on exciting video. And this is this is what I’m talking about when I talk about the show about give Chris Fleming twelve thirty or the Letterman weirdness or the Conan weirdness. I understand that this is just dumb and we’re staring at a pool vack waiting for it to clean up some leaves.
But this is the kind of stupid stuff that I find funny. The Near Comedy Festival announced another one hundred shows. I’m still not blown away by this lineup. I mean, tell me who the headliner here is that? Mark Maren.
I mean love Mark, but if he’s the ace in past festivals, he would have been like the eighth best comic on the bill. Loved the New York Comedy Festival, but it’s just not drawing what it used to, especially when you compare to like what Netflix has been handing in the last few years. The new Editions joined previously announced headliners including Mark Maren, Alana Laser, Jordan Jensen, Jordan Klepper, Sarah Sherman, and Patty Harrison. That’s one show, Daniel Sloss, ze Way, Benbankis, Mojo Brooks, and a bunch of others. I mean, yeah, okay, are you gonna move to some salsa?
Guillermo from The Kimble Show is in the salsa business now. This makes me laugh. If you’re a long time listener to the audio podcast during the pandemic, I got a lot of time killing material when George Lopez opened George Lopez Taco is a business that I think was not as successful as George Lopez hoped.
And then there was of course Jim Gaffig and Bourbon, which I made a lot of fu…
So I don’t know what I’m talking about, so I’m not betting against Guillermo. Here, he told Food Businessnews dot net, your home for comedy news, I always wanted to have my own salsa, and I’m very happy. The sauce is so good. It’s fresh and authentic. Now, as you dive into this article, we find a guy, mister Kirby, who mister Kirby is the president of the company, and he said, quote, I made the salsa and sent it to Germo, and Garamo said, yep, this is good.
I’d put my name on this. So I don’t know. Are we just having Kirby salsa? And it’s with Ghermo’s name? Not the most important thing.
It’s a summer Friday before I forget tomorrow. On the audio podcast, the Deep Dive is about Robert Schimmel, who I got to work with a few times, more than a few times, when I was back at Sirius. What a great guy, A great comedian, Like a lot of the comedians from the beginning of this century, is starting to be forgotten. Richard Jenny is one of those. Ralphie May, John Pinnette, like a lot of really good comedians, and you don’t hear about them anymore.
I think they came along just a little before the whole podcasting boom or modern day YouTube or social media clips, and they’re getting lost in the shuffle. Dane obviously still around. He’s got the movie coming around. But you know, like Dane was a monster, and you don’t hear much about Dane these days. Conan O’Brien Must Go is out on HBO Max Today season three.
He caught up with Conde Nast and said, I was never a stand up comedian. I got started doing improvisational comedy and that’s where my comfort is. I love trying to make something happen. He talked about the fun of the show is when things go wrong or things are unexpected, and uh, you know, let’s check back in with poolbots. See what’s happening.
Hey, look, it woke up, but it’s going the wrong way. What are you doing? All right? I missed that one. No, I just brushed the pool.
So we’re going to see a cloud of green. That’s what we’re running into. But oh, okay, can you get this leaf let’s zoom in? Can you get this guy. Yeah, that is you.
Your comedy news for Poolside back in the morning on the audio feed with a deep dive onto the career of who are you doing tomorrow? Is Robert Schimmel, That’s who it is. So you want to see if we get this one more leave there’s a big one here again. We’re in the green zone here, I understand. I tell you about the vandals who got the algae in my pool.
I’m going for that little one got ’em. What happens when we crashed on the another one? Are you not entertained? See you tomorrow.
