The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Man with your Daily Comedy News salon. Talk to Jim Gaffigan. Doing a lot of press lately, Jim, I still haven’t seen that, especially at my personal life has been crazy. I’ll got Jim at some point.

Jim, in especially you talk about death funerals and some really dark stuff. What’s it been like going back out there for this particular special, Jim said, The audience has obviously gone through the same stuff. We’ve all had this emotional development where we wanted to talk about the pandemic. Didn’t want to hear about the pandemic. We’re frightening of it coming back.

We all occasionally will hear about somebody getting COVID and you’re like, wait, wait, wait a minute, we have PTSD. We’ve all lost someone, whether it’s through the pandemic or just in everyday life. I feel as though there’s a maturity there. Initially, people just extatic to get out. My relationship with audiences is there’s the value of time.

My ticket prices aren’t that high anyway, but if people are giving me two hours on a Friday night, it better be worth those two hours, because we don’t have time. When people walk out. I definitely want them to be like, all right, that was worth it, because I’m the same way when I’m disappointed by a movie, it’s not there was fourteen or sixteen bucks, it’s that, oh man, it was my night. They asked Jim what story he wanted to tell in this particular special, and Jim said, some of it is the nihilism that’s pervasive, and maybe it’s necessary for how we process today, but we have to acknowledge some of the cass that exists and the fear that exists. Were not a little bit cynical.

We’re living in a little bit of denial, and that’s where I see the world in apparel way my comedy specials, my children were younger, and now three fifths of them are teenagers. And it’s a nightmare. Do you know what I mean? It’s really hard when you have young kids. Either.

People don’t tell you how order it is with teenagers. You don’t hear it because changing a diaper’s like a cakewalk compared to waiting for a teenager to come home on a Saturday night. Tim Heidecker is touring. He’s doing a two parts show. The first part is comedy, then he does music, and he caught up with the San Antario Current, who asked him how they decide that the music is the second half, Tim said, the stand up character works great as an opening act because he’s such a failure.

It’d be funny if this guy was real and flopped in front of a band. Even though he’s a terrible stand up comedian. He’s very popular in that room that night because the audience that’s there to see the show loves the character. You go see a show and you get what you want right away. There’s something about that.

It’s not like you got to slock through three bands. The persona is described does no more bs. On the other hand, the band is called the Very Good Band. Tim said, it’s funny because it does seem like I’m being ironic or sarcastic with the name of the band, but it’s quite literal. They’re surprisingly good.

That’s one of the reactions we get. Dude, your band’s really good at that happen. Well, I got lucky and I like good music, so I’m happy every night to play with these people. The first half is sort of steeped in sarcasm and irony, meta comedy, nothing is real and then the shift happens where it does take a little bit of time to know what’s going on, but about halfway through the music set, there’s a sense of, oh, this is a rock show. This isn’t a joke, doesn’t mean we can’t have fun.

I don’t try to make you laughter out. It’s kind of my natural instinct to be funny and to keep the energy lighting fun. I don’t want to turn in this MOPI emo rock weirdo. I play funny songs and everything I try to make the whole night. I feel like, wow, that was a whole range of emotions.

There’s a feeling of I laugh that I cried old fashioned showbizz stuff. Every year, Forbes makes a fifty over fifty list, which recognizes fifty dynamic female leaders and entrepreneurs. Congratulations to Lean Morgan, who made this year’s list. Lean was recognized in the Lifestyle category, the other categories and know You’re Curious or Impact in avan and investment the three eyes This being me l I guess. Forbes says members on this list aren’t just publishing books, making music, selling food, They’re shaping our culture.

Other winners Jamie Lee Curtis and Katie couric Lean’s held out. She found out. She said, as I was sitting at my kitchen table this morning writing my book What in the World Plug, I got a notification that truly made me say, what in the world plug? Forbes fifty over fifty is always something I would look at and think, look at all these amazing women. Never in a million years that I think I’d be one of them.

And she got a book plug in there twice. Spam a Loot is coming back. Spam a Loot first open I feel so old on Broadway in two thousand and five. I saw that in previews. Was it really that long ago?

Boy? Twenty years goes by quickly? You know, Spam a Loot Mounty Python thing. If for you listen to this podcast, you probably know what spam a Loot is. I won’t tell you.

It returns to Broadway November sixteenth. Previews beginning on Halloween. Monty Python co creator Eric Idol gave some coldage, which is I’m thrilled to see Spam a Loot back on Broadway. More than effort. Seems we need a good laugh and it’s inspiring to the audience is still embracing this.

The most happy of shows I’ve ever worked on. So put the news cycle on wrinse cycle. Take a couple hours to relax with the lady of the late King Arthur and the Knights who say knee because we’re not dead yet. Who crafted that? I’ve seen in Spamlon on Broadway twice and I’ve seen a regional production of it.

Great show, Go see it. Another show I want to see and I’m so excited for this, The Shark is Broken. My daughter texted me was like, Hey, do you have any interest in this? I was like, yes, do you know what this is? I will reach you from their website.

Fade in the Open Ocean nineteen seventy four, filming is delayed again. The lead actors, theater veteran Robert Shaw and young Hollywood hot shots Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider are crammed into a two small boat entirely at the mercy of foul weather and a faulty mechanical coastar. Alcohol flows, eagles collide, tampers, flair, and a chaotic voyage that just might lead to cinematic magic if it doesn’t sink them all. It’s The Shark is Broken, a profound dive behind the scenes of the making of Jaws. The Daily Telegraph gave it four stars.

Alex Brightman is the dude from Beetle Juice, which was differently fantastic, so I’m looking forward to this. We are told short tempers, short circuits, ninety minutes, no intermission, perfect.
