The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. A lot of quick hits today, and you can never go wrong with talking about Dave Chappelle. Dave will do another round of Cornfield to Comedy shows July sixth through the eighth in Yellow Springs. Tickets already on sale, probably sold out by the time you’re hearing this.

The shows were approved by the Miami Township Board of Zoning Appeals in early May. The permit application detailed that shows would be limited to one thousand ticket holders and would take place between June first and October eighth. We’ll see if he had some more shows, and we’ll see who else shows up. In the past, some celebrity guests included Chris Rock and David Letterman. John Stewart show up once, so yeah, we’ll see who shows up there.

Kevin Hart spoke to brandt dot Com. They ask Kevin, hey, you work with a lot of brands. Brands today are scared to death of the controversy of comedy when you hit the edges now with the current world we’re living in, does it affect the way you do comedy now? Kevin Hart said, we have to be aware of the times, because do not respect the times and not respect change is just ignorant. I mean times change because it’s necessary and it’s needed.

So the climate and temperature today is well deserved and we need to welcome it, just accordingly, be respectful. I’m a universal effing comedian. I’ve traveled the world telling jokes. There’s not a country or state that I haven’t been to to do comedy. Is that true, Kevin Hart?

Can you show me some clips from your appearance in I Won’t even go to North Korea? Show me when you’d played Moscow? All right, Kevin said, I want to make that very clear. I’ve made people laugh by being myself. I don’t force a narrative.

I don’t create a persona. No, Okay. What brands need the most is relatability. Without relatability, without humor, you have no product. The smartest people in the world listen.

The dumbest people in the world talk a lot. George Lopez apparently working on a Christmas comedy movie being filmed in Wrong Jackson, Mississippi. Where else would you film a Christmas comedy movie starring George Lopez. They’re filming down at bell Haven University. It is called How the Gringo Stole Christmas.

Emily Wilson is a producer and says, George Lopez plays a proud Mexican amer and gardner with a landscaping business, and his daughter brings home kind of a hippie white dude, and hilarity ensues. Lopez talked about filming in Jackson, Mississippi. Nothing really kind of gets done in Hollywood anymore, So to come here double your money because of the tax incentives. I think it’s good for the economy here, and it’s good for people like me who you know, really wouldn’t get to see the beauty of Jackson, Mississippi. Matt Rife made a hilarious comparison between himself and the viral meme kid who took over social media a few years ago.

Fans of Matt Rife have been sharing a picture of him side by side with meme Kid, highlighting their resemblance. Rife points out he’s not actually the meme Kid. The Kings of Late Night are touring. They’re playing Pittsburgh on September first. I’m not sure if this is part of a bigger tour or a one off.

They’re playing the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh Friday, September. First, who are the Kings of Late Night? Well, I will tell you Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, and Craig Ferguson. Those are three really solid comedians. It’s a weird bill.

And what order do you put them in? Jay Leno or Senio Hall, Craig Ferguson. So you have to deal with both ego and flow. Here’s my take. So jay Leno has got to be the headliner there, So I’m guessing Arsenio comes out and does short bursts, Craig comes out and does a middle, longer chunk, and then jay Leno closes.

That’s how I do it. But Jay Leno or Senio, Craig Ferguson, what order would you put them in? The National Comedy Center in Jamestown is open to a new exhibit honoring the recently closed New York City comedy club Carolines on Broadway. The exhibit features artifacts from the club, featuring the state backdrop, showroom curtains and signage, entry doors, and bar fly stools. Hey, I love Carolines.

They were always good to me. Did some business with them back at Series sex Am. I mean I was never there and be like, wow, look at that stage backdrop, or these stools are awesome. So you know, if you’re going to the Comedy Center anyway, you can check it out. I’m not sure I would make that seven hour drive from New York City to see bar stools used to me on Broadway.

Jay Farroh has announced he’s taping a new special, this one in Chicago’s ware Park neighborhood at the Heath Main Stage. He’ll record two performances Saturday, August twenty sixth. No word on what the distribution. There will be moamare as a new podcast called Joking Not Joking. He and his co host are joined by guests like Rami Yusef, and they asked the big questions the modern world makes you forget.

Are we living in a simulation? What is money? What is life after death? They get real when it gets uncomfortable and funny when it gets serious. Fortune Feamsters spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald about when she got engaged to her girlfriend Jack Smith, to try to get the hotel involved to allow staff to convertly decorate their room.

Feamster took Smith to an upmarket restaurant when they got back to the cabin, there were mounds of wilted rose pedals, seemingly arranged with a leafblower. Electric candles flickered feebly, while a roaring fire melted the chocolate off the strawberries and brought the champagne to a simmer. Fortune was like, this didn’t work out. Just threw open her arms and said you want to She got a yes. She laughed, said I paid all this money for an ocean view, but there was so much fogg and rain you couldn’t even see in front of your hand.

It was like throwing money into a fire pit. But luckily Jackson did say yes. May Martin spoke to the l eight times. May is used to being modified, they say, and that’s evolved as I have evolved. Your career started at age thirteen, and they say it was teenage comedian, female comedian, lesbian comedian, bisexual comedian and now non binary comedian.

Rob Schneider in the news he had that special on Fox Nation. Well now he is backing Robert F. Kennedy Junior in RFK Junior’s bid to be the Democratic nominee. I’l cahol time out Here Look Comedy and politics are going to intersect, and in this specific case, if a comedian is clearly endorsing candidate, it’s in the news. I will talk about it.

You can decide for yourself if you would like to vote for mister Kennedy or a different candidate. Time back in, Schneider appeared alongside Kennedy in a smiling photo that Schneider posted on Twitter on Sunday. He wrote, inspiring, hopeful, ragis and most importantly, like his father, compassionate. He called it an honor to support Kennedy. You may want to check out RFK Junior’s recent appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, which got a lot of attention.

Just for last Montreal is just under a month away. I have had to make the decision that I can’t go this year for personal reasons, and I got to be in nine places at once, and I just I can’t do it, and it’s killing me. I still might change my mind about it and go as a civilian, but I turned it down credentials this year. It’s killing me. Here are some of the panels July twenty seventh, the cast of Killing It.

That is a show on Peacock, which is why you’re probably like, what’s killing it? That panel features Craig Robinson, you know Craig from the Office. Another panel on Wednesday, the twenty sixth, this one about This Fool. That show was on Hulu and stars Chris Astrad and Frankie Kenyonius. He probably came along that when I sampled it a little bit and just wasn’t grabbed me told you about this one.

I think over the weekend, the new sketch troupe the Desserts, they’re getting a panel. This is the one executive produced by Bruce mcclough from Kids in the Hall and New Topic Bad News. If you like Jury Duty, you’re not getting not actual journey duty. Nobody likes that the TV show Jury Duty. Did you watch it?

Pretty funny? It’s on free v which go on your Amazon Prime thing and they’ll put it in front of you. Definitely worth watching, but no season two. The co creator says, I think we have to put that to bed. We kind of caught lightning at a bottle and I don’t know how we could ever top it, So I think we just have to do something else entirely.

But as far as Jury Duty is an institution, I don’t think we can. And that is your comedy news for today. Follow the show for free on Apple, Podcast, Spotify, YouTube, wherever you get your shoes see tomorrow. The Shark Deck Johnny McK with your Daily Comedy News. Remember the story John Mlaney told in which he was so desperate for drug money he bought a new rolex for twelve thousand dollars on his credit card sold it immediately for six thousand dollars cash. While John was on the Hollywood Reporters podcast Awards Chatter and added some details to that story. Mullaney said, I put three grand in an apple shopping bag. Apparently Mlaney threw three thousand dollars of the cash away.

Mlaney said, I put three grand in an apple shopping bag. I thought I must have thrown that apple bag away. I was in a twenty floor apartment building in the West Village back then, and I went through almost all the trash of the basement didn’t find it. Later in the podcast, Mlaney does a somber tone and does an impression of what the same story would sound like if he told it in the style of a confessional comedy special, saying, I didn’t want to make this laugh heavy as possible. I didn’t want to tell the story of you know, and there I was selling a watch I just bought, and I felt so small.

I didn’t want to have that tone. You know, I really want to present these stories almost as if I were proud of them, because at that moment I was. I made sixth grand in cash by only spending twelve grand. I’ll put it in an apple bag, don’t worry about that. Mullenny was asked if he would ever consider hosting the Oscars, and he said, sure, why not, It’d be really fun so hosting the Academy Awards.

Johnny Carson did that. Kim was so great, though I’d probably rather watch Jimmy do it than me do it. But imagine that me hosting the Academy Awards me and it sucks right out there. Shout out to Twitter user one dollar, who pointed out that not for the first time nor for the last time, I was pronouncing something incorrectly, and one dollar told me just call it can and I’m like, okay, thank you. So can you know big fancy French film festival thinging Lauren Michaels was out there.

Lauren was talking about SNL’s fiftieth anniversary. The fiftieth season kicks off and fall of twenty twenty four. Some of this we’ve known already. The fiftieth will include a big blowout extravaganza Radio City Music Hall in New York City, which, you know, all things considered not the biggest venue. That show will feed your music and stand up link to the show’s legacy and quote much more.

Lauren says, right now, there’s a Friday event at Radio City, a kind of homecoming night. We’ll have musical acts and stand ups throughout the show. Musical things that the cast have done over fifty years will be live. It’ll probably be streamed because the language won’t be in control, and it’ll take as long as it takes. Michael’s added that the celebrations will be wait for this.

This is the hesitation of my voice tied to the start of the twenty twenty four Olympics in Paris. Before I read ahead, I’m going to guess NBC executives synergy something. Hey, we’ve got the Olympics, so you’re gonna have Mike Tarico forcing some SNL segment that’s gonna just make everybody unhappy. You gotta tune in for the Olympics and there’s gonna be Will Ferrell stop John Okay. Laurd says there are some documentaries being made that’s awesome about the show’s anniversary, and that planning has been underway for six months despite the event being a year and a half away.

It’ll be emotional, but everybody will show up because it’s important. Lauren is hoping before they do the fiftieth season, there’s a forty ninth season, you know, Riders Drake. Lauren said, I’m obviously a supporter and I hope it gets resolved, but that decision will get made probably on the West coast. Lauren minds everybody for the big party, no plus ones allowed. From band dot com.

Kevin Hart shows Ken why he’s the most drumming man alive. You can kind of hear me if you listen every day that I’m starting to turn on Kevin. That comment the other day about Brands Wortley like family or whatever the heck he said was that just sounded psychopath to me. So here we go, Kevin selling all the Kevin Hart products again. The interviewer said, you basically have seventy projects in development at Heartbeat, your production company.

You’re basically working with every entertainment company, and you have four kids. How do you do what you do? Kevin Hart? This first sentence makes me want to throw up my red garbage can here in the basement, Kevin said. First of all, amazing question to start off, Kevin said, had The answer is very simple.

The foundation of Kevin Hart is not just Kevin Hart. I would not be able to do manufacture, shape, mold, create any things I have now without the ecosystem and the personnel underneath. The team is responsible for so much of that. The interviewer then name checked Snoop Dogg, and Kevin said, I love Snoop Snooping myself. We did an amazing collab together.

For me, money is not attractive. I say this humbly. I don’t need the money. What I need is longevity and a commitment. It would much rather a contract for heartbeat that secures me in a position aim to create advertising material where creative material that best tells your story and amplifiers your work.

I read the sentence correctly, I checked myself. I don’t understand the sentence either. In year one, year two, we did great. For the year three, year four, we can do better. Yeah, who reports Matt Rife isn’t actually a fan of TikTok.

I was in the car the other day with my daughter and I’m like, you know Matt Rife and her generation. Oh, they know Matt Rife. Matt says, I hate social media. Oh, by the way, can I jump in? I hate the Internet.

So I repost the podcast on YouTube and I noticed one episode was doing extremely well. I’m like, hm, so I went to which episode is it? And I went and I looked, and it was one that didn’t have the best headline. It was Sarah Silverman not interested in hosting the daily show. You know, a generic you know, Monday kind of topic.

All right, whatever. But when I picked the thumbnail, did I take a picture of Sarah that was quite flattering, say in the chest inch area? Sure? I did, and boy off to the races. You could sit here and do the most amazing journalism handing the best thing, or you know, post a thumbnail with some boobs you get some downloads.

I hate the internet. To Matt Rieve says, I hate social media. But as he watched other comedians gain steam on TikTok, he said, I was like, how long can you go against the green and it not work? I can answer, Matt four years at least. I think sometime this week is the fourth anniversary of the podcast.

I have to go back and look. I can’t quite remember if I started at the end of June or the end of July, Matt Rieves said. Despite a twenty twenty one and twenty twenty three comedy special and a very high profile twenty seventeen romance with Kate Beckinsale, Rive said, this time last year, I was doing shows for like twenty to thirty people at night, losing money to travel. Social media changed everything for me. I mean just in the past ten months.

Everything is shifted because of clips online, but for the past two three years when everything was kind of exponentially growing towards social media for stand up, luckily it changed everything. Maybe I’m just a voice for a younger generation. There’s not a lot of people at my age I’ve been doing it as long or have the experience that I have. So maybe that’s finally showing through a little bit. Or it could be my face, it could be the way we do captions on videos.

Who knows. I’m just happy people like it. One fan, Christina, attended a show of his in Iowa and brought a T shirt with a picture of mouth stuff. Matt said she was the hottest mom ever in the middle of Iowa, where I didn’t even know they made hot moms. She talks about how hot her daughter was.

Creepy, and we facetimed her daughter on stage. It was absolutely incredible, and he stayed in touch with Hot Mom. She’s a good support. She comments on all my videos and she’ll DM me on TikTok or something, just congratulating me on the tour. She has been so much fun.

I’m creeped out here Hot mom with mouth stuff shirt talking about how hot her daughter is. Weird, weird, weird, weird, weird weird. Matt says the experience of connecting with audience members isn’t foreign to him, as he always does crowd work. It’s something I completely understand. I’ve noticed that I’m a lot of people’s first introduction to comedy.

If you want Matt’s attention, here’s here’s advice. It’s really the person who tries to yell out and get attention. Who’s the most funny person I have an interaction with. It’s always the most reluctant person in the front row. You least expect to have a crazy story about them.

If you’re just patient, sit back and relax, it’ll unfold naturally, I promise controversial music group I think it’s pronounced kot Kount and the Gang Kunt Kunt right, Yes, koont In the Gang have released a new song about Philip Schofield. You know, if you’re a yank like me, you’re like, who’s that? Well, Wikipedia tells us. Philip Ryan Scofield is an English television presenter. He rose to prominence as a children’s BBC Continuity presenter from nineteen eighty five to nineteen eighty seven, hosted a bunch of other things.

In twenty twenty, Schofield came out as gay and separated from his wife of twenty seven years, and May twenty twenty three admitted to having an extra marital affair with a male I TV employee. All right, that’s the setup here. Let’s see what koont In the Gang are singing about. Their singles called Bum the Runner. It’s now available on various platforms, including Spotify.

The lyrics include he jumped the queue to see the dead queen. That’s not the worst thing he’s done. If you see what I mean, He’s been sacked from his job. On this morning for teenage boys, he should come with a warning that’s koont In the Gang. Did you see the Beetlejuice Musical?

It was so good. Unfortunately the Broadway production has ceased, but Beetlejuices Alex Brightman will join Chicago Med’s Colin Donnell and they’re gonna play Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider In the Jaws comedy The Shark Is Broken. Ian Shaw will play his own father, Robert Shaw. The Shark Is Broken as a play written by Ian Shawn Joseph Nixon, directed by Guy Masterson. It is a comedic exploration of the behind the scenes drama that took place during the filming of Jaws.

Bruce McCullough you know him from Kids in the Hall, is teaming up with Max Kerman. You may know him from Canadian rock band r Kellis. They’re producing a sketch comedy show. The Desert premieres on Crave on July seventh. It is heralded as bringing forth the next generation of Canadian comedy.

Little else is known about the show, and down in Sydney, comedian Tom Cashman and two of his roommates have moved out of their apartment. They got a letter from the real estate agent about some ants. Cashman told the story at the Sydney Comedy Festival. He revealed that the agent had deducted ninety nine dollars after sending a pest control to eradicate ants spotted in the kitchen. In the email, the agent old Cashman as roommates was their responsibility to treat or eradicate ants.

Cashman said, I’d never noticed any ants in the place? Is where to God? So I responded asking for some evidence of the ant infestation. Cashman showed an image he was sent of four ants and said, that’s twenty five dollars per ant. That’s your comedy news for today.

Follow the show for free on Apple, podcast Spotify, smash that YouTube button whatever, Like, what are you supposed to do? Why don’t you rephrase that, John, because that’s not fun See tomorrow. The Shark Deck. David Spade was speaking to the Things dot com forgot to introduce myself. Hello, Johnny mc it’s Daily Comedy US. David Spade was talking to the Things dot com about his comedy and he said, look, these aren’t my hardcore beliefs. This is me saying something to shock or surprise you, to elicit a laugh.

If I say the five jokes were allowed to say, that’s been approved by the world, and who’s laughing. Since the Will Smith incident, I feel there’s a change in the air. The invisible barrier between audience and stage has been broken, but clearly the grace period is over. I think all performers will hit first and ask questions later. If someone comes at them, even if it’s a juggler, you might get a bowling pin across the temple.

I’m from an air of comedy where you were supposed to push things. That was the whole idea, and people would go and sort of escape to hear comics and laugh and it’s all good fun, and I would poke fun at people and move on. But it’s got to be a very tricky business in general.

And then one more wave was after the Oscars, so everybody has an opinion.

With the invention of Twitter, you don’t just hear general opinions. You hear one at a time from everyone on the planet. You realize you’re never gonna please everyone, and they’re gonna let you know. Overall, I wanted to stay true to what I did, and I have people that know what I do, people that don’t like me. I don’t know if I can flip them with this meeting his recent special.

It’s a fine line between being able to make fun of everyone and having to stay away from people. Some people, some religions, some places would be like, hey, treat me like everyone else, and make fun of me like everyone else, and respect me like everyone else. It’s all just a level playing field. Ideally. Now it’s not in reality, and everyone shies away from everything.

I think with someone like Sylvester Stallone, white poke fun at but actually really like in real life, there’s no malice or anger or vitriol. Caitlyn Jenner, I’ve met and perfectly cool. So my angle was more than names and making fun of myself. You also spoke about Dave Chapelle and said I respect Chapelle, and I respect most comedians. I think we’re all friends.

It will proven otherwise. It’s a nice little community. If you like comedy and you go to comedy clubs, there’s people saying stuff you wouldn’t believe, but they’re not famous enough to get canceled. Tom Papa, he’s in my brain. He recently spoke to Salon about the phrase appreciate you, which I used three times last night.

I’ve been noticing I use it since Papa talked about it. I like it. I picked it up from one of my kids. But in his new book, Tom Papa talked about how people say appreciate you. Papa said, it became very popular.

It works though. When the phrase first showed up, you’re like, oh, that’s nice. No one said they appreciate me. But now it’s been overused Johnny Mac, and now you’re like, no, you don’t. Salon asked Tom.

In the book, you say I love people, you also have to deal with rude people every step of the way. How do you separate those two things. You don’t seem cranky, and Papa said, no, I get cranky. If I get tired, I get cranky. But I do love people, and I try to cut them slack when I’m out.

When I was younger, I had less patience, so I was more aggravated traveling. And if people were rude, now, just realize they’re just bumbling around. They can’t see this is their first time in the airport all year. Oh, Ton’s like me, I lose my mind. Have your act together.

At the gate and we’re scanning your luggage. Get it together. And when we get on the plane, oh my god, will you just open the thing, throw it back in and sit down. And when we’re deboarding, oh my goodness, get up, open the thing, your bag out, let’s go. I lose my mind.

Tom, you’re a better man than me. So I said, this is their first time in the airport all year. If you have a little bit of sense of humor about it, you can cut them some slack. I can’t, Tom, I can’t. It doesn’t mean that I’m in this blissful state of loving them all.

There are sometimes you want to strangle somebody, especially if they’re being overtly rude. I was on a flight yesterday. Everybody’s waiting and there’s gonna be a pre board. There’s gonna be fifty people that do that. This one guy who was like a house flaw.

He was gonna board before everybody. He kept trying, and everyone’s looking at him. He’s violating the social contract of all of us. He’s trying to jump the line. You could feel everybody getting aggravated.

I’m watching him. I’m like, I hope he doesn’t make it. I really hope he doesn’t make it. They finally got past the pre boards and when he tried, they turned him back, and he’s gonna go back through the crowd. It was so satisfying, It felt so good.

It was a little triumph. Salon also spoke to Roy Wood Junior that whole cancel culture comedians are under attack topic, and Roy said, I don’t feel like comedians are under attack. Every comedian that people say has been canceled, it’s making good money. They’re showing up to cities and people are still paying money to see them. Yeah, you might not get as many specials, you might not get the glitzie TV show, you might not get to host a thing, But the end of the day, as a performer, if the public still wants to pay money to sit in that chair, you’re getting people in twenty twenty three to come out in public and still sit We’re in a TikTok attention span generation, so if you still have that level of pull, then no amount of outrage can take that away.

If anything, it makes people more intrenched in liking you because you’re attacking the thing they love. So I’m really going to show you how much I love it. I don’t think we’re in a situation that’s any different than Lenny Bruce and George Carlin getting arrested for saying whatever words society he didn’t want them to say on stage at the time. I don’t think George Carlin got arrested. I’m not here to nit pick Roy, but like I don’t have that in my brain, and having watched the Carlin dock last summer, I don’t think Carlin was arrested for saying things on stage.

Just as an aside, none attack on Roy. But when you look at the idea that I can’t say something, no I can say it. As a performer, I have to be prepared for groans and except that that’s part of the game. Some performers, in my opinion, are mad that people are mad. They ever right to be mad.

Just shut up into your job. The people rock with it, will show up and like you. You can’t get mad that a corporation pulled you off a show, because if a tweet you made the corporations trying to please everybody, the corporations like of trying to get people to watch my network mffer while you’re talking crazy on Twitter, You’re gun say at the streets and find that people like you and charge some forty dollars plass ticket master fees. It’s awards seasons. There’s a lot of articles about, hey, remember this cool thing we made.

We showed an award right The La Times did one of those about weird the Al Yankovic story, which is fantastic if you haven’t watched it. Director Eric Appelle said, we had to make a lot of choices in prep to make our days. Talking about shooting schedule, our approach was to be as economical as possible with what we were shooting. An example of that is the wonderful scene featuring and if you haven’t seen the movie, listen to the scene. There’s Wolfman Jack who’s played by Jack Black, Andy Warhol, Conan O’Brien, Salvador, Dolly Emo, Phillips, Pee Wee Herman played by Jorma tacone Alice Cooper played by Kivas Schaefer, and Queen bassist John Deacon played by David dest Malchion, who Daniel Radcliffe says, steals the scene.

I agree the urgency of this shooting schedule something Daniel Radcliffe felt comfortable, and he said if there had been more time, I would have been nervous performing the songs. Appell said, we did get about a week of prep time with Daniel before shooting, but I think what captures the live energy the performances is that we can only do them a couple of times, so it was almost like we were doing them live. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are out on the road. They spoke to the Hollywood reporter who pointed out, Hey, there’s no LA or New York dates in this latest batch. Are you forcing us to go to Vegas to see the show?

Tina Fey said, I would never force anyone to go to Vegas, but I might force you to go to Austin. Amy said, I do think we’re going to do New York in LA later, probably for a longer run. We just have to figure that out. While how are you pacing the dates? Guys?

Tina said, we definitely work backwards from school calendar first and foremost, Amy said, and then our professional obligations. But it’s been cool landing in a city for three or four days to do a bunch of shows together in a pocket, rather than being out on the road for months and months at a time. They just played Atlantic City. How does that crowd compare to, say, Chicago? Amy said, Atlantic City is its own country.

Tina said, there’s not that much difference. But we’re learning that some cities really like hearing jokes about themselves. Amy says that Boston loves hearing of jokes about Boston. Amy said, yeah, if you’re in Boston, every time you mentioned the word Boston or any town near Boston, you’re golden. Whereas Atlantic City wasn’t so much like this is your hometown.

The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your daily company news golf dot Com. Spoke to George Lopez about wrong about Eddie Van Halen. What do you think we were going to talk about? And they said, hey, before he passed away, Eddie was one of your favorite golf buddies.

What bonded you guys? George said, oh, man, you know how they used to say all the pretty girls are at home on Saturday night because nobody asked them out. Eddie was so talented in his profession that he was shy, and when he was using he didn’t have to notice that everybody was looking at him. But he was always home. He never went anywhere.

People on my old talk show asked me, who’s your favorite guitar player. They wanted to get me a guitar as a present because they knew I played, and I said, oh, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen. That was it. So I got to the office one day a woman standing there with this things. She opens it up and I go, what’s that And she says, it’s a gift to you from the show, but it’s from my husband too, And I said, who’s your husband?

Eddie Van Halen. I said, get that out of here, you know him, And Jeannie’s wife said, I woke up next to him, and then she said, why don’t you call him and ask him to go to dinner. So we went to dinner and I said, hey, are you a member of Lake Side? And he says yeah, and then he said the most beautiful words. We’ve got to go out and play.

Here’s the thing ed was very childlike, and it’s enthusiasm for everything that wasn’t music, golfy effing loved it. Salon asked David Cross whether it’s times when you’re writing a joke and you’re like, this is too sensitive for too many people can’t do it. Cross said, there’s certainly some jokes I might either say or laugh at when I’m amongst friends in a private setting. If it was at a bar and somebody who comes up with something and I know the contexts and they know the contexts, jokes that hurt people who are victimized, that’s where I draw the line. I don’t have many.

There’s a couple of jokes have done where I look back at them, going, that’s really insensitive. I wish I said it that way, or I wish I had qualified in some way that can be seen as hurtful, though not necessarily individuals, but a group of people who are victimized in some way. So that’s kind of where I ad it myself. But that’s it. I mean, there’s certainly not a subject matter.

I won’t talk about all the comics you bitch and moan about. Hey, they’re trying to cancel me for this joke I made. Most of the time, it’s a nothing joke and it doesn’t matter.

And now you’re positioning yourself as this BS voice of they’re not going to …

You can’t silence me for what you’re dumb joke about trans people. Who gives a hoot? I mean, is it important to you just move on and not hurt hundreds of thousands of people? It’s a choice people make. Deschapelle from Kansas City dot com the question, did comedian Todd Berry twitter shame Kansas City into building the new kCi terminal?

This is a letter to the editor who wrote eleven years ago. Todd Berry delivered an enlightening anecdote on Letterman about his experience tweeting with the official kCi account about the lack of restaurant options and the airport’s online map let’s listen. True story. I was at the Kansas City Airport looking for place to eat, couldn’t find one, cap walk and couldn’t find one. Finally found this terrible place to eat, so one on Twitter new slogan for Kansas City Airport walk a mile and enjoy one of our two food options.

Reasonably funny. A few hours later got a response from the official Kansas City Airport Twitter accounts, and it was kind of sad. They were like, two to our design. We actually do have limited foods oasis. But here’s a link to a map of all of our restaurants.

Some guy writes back to them that link doesn’t work on cell phones. I flew into Kansas City one year for the All Star Game and we landed at like, I don’t know, eleven forty five pm on a Sunday night. And this was in the pre uber days. But we landed and everything was closed and we didn’t even think we were going to be able to get a cab. I think we had to call a cab company.

And this is at the airport in a city that you’ve heard of. But it was a ghost town. Tom Papa said, the greatest thing about comedy is if you’re funny, you’re unstoppable. Doesn’t matter what you are, where you come from. If you’re funny, I’ve never seen one truly funny person show up in the clubs or wherever we do it and not succeed.

It’s unstoppable. Will they get hired by S and L Maybe not, but they’ll be a great comedian and people will find them. It’s interesting Chris Rock had a special come out. People writing about a special were not comedy people. There were people who write about care and people writing about his opinions and how it’s our woke society and all this stuff.

It was embarrassing how little they understood about comedy itself. But comedy has become so big now in the absence of real adults and news, comedians are seen as they grown ups. For some reason, you can’t write about comedy in those terms fit your section of the culture that you have to write about all the time. It’s not really what it’s about, but it’s kind of led over. If you enjoy what I do here, you can buy me a coffee and buy meacoffee dot com slash Daily Comedy Needs.

Boy, I could use one right now. I’m recording my third Street podcast to wouldcommodate my own schedule. And I didn’t bring anything down here to the basement studio, and boy, my mouth’s getting kind of dry. And don’t you feel bad for me? He want you to buy me a coffee?

We got the episodes ad free and early by early usually around four pm Eastern the day before official release. Even if you’re like John, there haven’t been that many commercials.

Not too bad. It’s a frictionalist way to support the show because you sign up as this scriber on Apple Podcasts and then it’s just kind of set it and forget it. And that’s five bucks. You could try it for a month for free, and if you don’t like it, you could just bail, but the first month’s free there, so do that on Apple podcasts. They’ll put the option under your news.

Thank you to everybody who supports the show. The La Times spoke to four comics at varying points in their career. They are Morgan J. Lunel, Ali Sadiq, and Matt Reife and their experiences selling specials to the streamers. The LA Times asked them what’s the hardest part about landing a special deal today versus pre streaming.

Yeah, I remember, not too long ago there was some eight or maybe even nine nine figure deals. Were there nine figure deals? There were definitely eight figure deals going to some of these bigger comedians. Morgan Jay said, the hardest part is finding somebody who’s willing to take a risk on new talent. Even with a following of over a million people across my social media platforms, the streamers aren’t acquiring specials like they used to.

Matt Riif said, it’s always been competitive and political. However, the politics and what networks think people want is ever changing and often out of your control. Lunel said, I will say this, it’s difficult to land anything in this town without proper representation and solid relationships. I’ve toured with Kat Williams, built a wonderful relationship with Dave’s Chappelle. Both men have Netflix specials and have been cheerleaders for me throughout my career.

I landed my special with Netflix under the umbrella of Chappelle, who’s executive producing my special. I know my situations different from a lot of people, but I think it’s my relationships that got me in the door at Netflix. Alcdick said, if it’s a network or streamer, you have to get them to believe you’re worth putting on their platform. If it’s fans, you have to give them something they believe is worth watching. It’s not the end all be all.

If you don’t get with a network, you can still release independently if fans believe in you. The next topic, how has social media, specifically TikTok and Instagram reels changed how you approach a special rollout? Rife said reels and TikTok’s are where the majority of people watch stand up these days, and it’s easily sharable, So essentially, your fans and friends are able to freely help promote your work with you. Lunel said, with more than a million followers on Insta, I feel like I reach more people with the single post than with flyers or other traditional marketing. Don’t get me wrong, traditional marketing is very important, but when you have a fan base, you can give them a heads up about an upcoming performance special in a matter of seconds.

Next question, what’s the number one piece of advice you’d give to an up and comer trying to shop a special to a streamer? Who else? Said? Take your time, hone your craft, make sure you build a strong fin base and a solid following on social Remember it’s more important to be a good comic with great material before you start knocking on doors for a special. Matt Rives said, don’t stress about it.

You don’t need them. The power of stand up comedies now entirely in the hands of the people. If you can get picked up by streamer and be part of their exclusive club, great, but you absolutely do not need them for people to watch your special. You can self release your own special without a streamer, get more views and make more money. I don’t know that streamers have stopped investing in stand up as much as they have in the past, but I do feel they’ve completely lost touch of what people actually like in exchange for what they think is the most inclusive and politically beneficial to their platform.

Morian Jay said at one point, Netflix was releasing a comedy special once a week for a full year. Clearly those numbers have diminished. MAX is even more selective about who they have on Prime videos, only recently getting into comedy. I do know some of the most watching popular comedy special in the last several years have been released on YouTube. But I think self releasing will become more common.

Ali CDQ said, if they’re looking at the success of Ari Shafir, Big Joker, Saint, Andrew Schultzer myself, we’re beating out network specials in terms of viewers and helping other comics release their content. Indementently, the barriers to entry for comedy have changed drastically. If you’re funny, people will find you. That’s your comedy news for today. Just the outline of its foundation remains on the lot. TMZ has previously recorded, Pete was charged with reckless driving for crashing into the no longer existing house. At the time, the damage to the house seemed very minimal.

Everyone figured Pete or the insurance would cover the repairs. It’s unclear how much damage was done, but the house is gone. No one knows why the owner decided to get rid of the house. TMZ adds, By the way, if Pete’s convicted, he could could I’ll say that word again, could get to ninety days in jail and a one thousand dollars fine. Who knows, Maybe will see Pete in an orange jumpsuit picking garbage.

They will do a stage reading of select scenes from the original script by an all star cast of comedians and surprise fan favorite guests no names quite yet, a bunch of panels. Let me save those from Monday.

I’ll tell you about those on Monday, because I’ve got a lots of covered today. Dane Cook opened up the Laugh Factory’s newest location in Covena. He dedicated all proceeds towards the Writer’s Guild Association members on strike. He said, writers the lifeblood of this industry. I believe there’s a way we can all put some great positive juju into the moment, both with the new club opening and this world would come on and giving back felt like it’s the right thing to do at the right time.

Dane is out on the Perfectly Shattered tour and he said it really speaks to what I think is the best part of going through breakdowns and failures and mishaps the long terms in your life, as it can lead you to the best of times. You have to allow that understanding Perfectly Shattered is me saying anything that happened or anything that’s broken apart is bringing me the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been, So why change a thing. He was happy to partner with Jamie Masada, Laugh Factory owner for this show and said, I feel like a lot of people have looked at the club as a safe haven and a place to have those much needed laughs that you can build up when you’re just into turbulent or capsizing moment. For me, since I was a kid and when I started at the Laugh Factory, it always feels like not only coming home, but be able to contribute to the place that helped put me on the map for a lot of reasons. That’s just good synergy.

Right there, Bill Burr dropped by the Red Sox broadcast booth. Let’s listen. You came especially for this, didn’t you. Yeah, I’ve been off the road since the beginning of May. It was great.

I was learning how to cook too well, and my wife was finally, you gotta get out of here. You’re driving everybody nuts.

And then you guys hit me up.

And I took a tour this stadium when they first built it, so I’ve never been to a game here, so you know, I’m you know, I’m excited. Bill then asked for some help with some stats, just out of curiosity. What’s the record? There’s gotta be some nerd here with the laptop. Can you give us an answer?

You go to the baseball reference so Castro will go to the game to play enough pats On It was like Lindy Ruff, it’s an NHL reference for forty years ago. I’m sorry, I’m old enough to gain it. So this x NHL player told me what his nickname was. It was Lindy On the road rough at home, all right? Is that he was a gentleman your building, all this stick would come up.

And most of the week I’ve been freaking out about them revoicing Rick and Morty and doing a very very very very terrible bugs Bunny impression. Terrible. Well, here you’re about to hear why I’m worried. The writers of Hulu’s Solar Opposites have recast Corvo. Corvo, previously voiced by Justin Royland Justin Royland, has been canceled.

Justin Royland no longer good a voice. Rick Justin Royland no longer got a voice. Morty Justin Royland no longer going to voice Corvo. Dan Stevens will take over. But here’s what they did, all right, So I’m gonna play a clip here.

The setup is they’re playing darts, and one of the darts hits Corvo in the throat, and then this happens. Watch this. Oh my god, the voice fixing Ray. I’m sorry, big guy by bad. We’ll get this fixed to the Jeffy, I told you not to throw metal around here.

We’re going to be late to work. Stop buggering about it. Is Corvos on a little laugh? This thing must not be calibrated. Let me try again.

No, this is working for me, all right, Chop chop, Let’s get a move on. I hate being late. It makes me feel hot and weird. You’ll make me feel hot and weird. What was that?

Nothing coming? Sweetie? Wait? Is his boys just gonna be like that from now on? Yeah, but it sounds pretty much the same to me.

Nobody’s gonna notice. So yeah, corvos voice has changed, and everyone agrees that it kind of sounds the same and no one will notice, which is a good bit. But it’s weird. I don’t know. And honestly, when I was watching Cleopas this last summer, I was actually doing a pretty decent half ass corvo.

And if I can do a decent half ass corvo, somebody must be able to do a good one. So we’ll see what happens there. Rob Schneider spoke to Fox, you know, Rob had that big Fox Nation specially the other day, and Rob said, at the end of the day, you have to go to where the jokes are, and you have to go make fun of the people who deserve to be mocked. And I think the authoritarianism, especially coming from the liberal intelligentsia deserve to be mocked, and it’s easy to do so. I do think the really good comedians, the ones that I really respect, would go against the green go against wherever the power is and wherever the power is being abused.

I’m sure if George Carlin was alive, they would say he’s a right winger. I’m not sure about that. For whatever authorities being abusive, you have to go after the power centers, Rob said the CEO of United Airlines last month. The CEO, he announced for all the hiring for all the new pilots are coming up this year. All the hiring for the new pilots, the main focus is going to be diversity.

I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of flying all the time with those white pilots landing safely and on time, boring. I want diversity when I fly. Schneider also said I knew this country was in trouble when I went to a bank and the guard at the bank was like, excuse me, sir, you’re at a bank. You have to wear a mask. For the last hundred years, if you wore a mask in a bank, you were the bad guy.

That is a fine joke, Rob snydering, I tip my hat to you on that one. I’m not your comedy news for today, Happy birthday Mom. Follow the show for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, wherever you get your shows. See you tomorrow.

The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny mag with your Daily Comedy News. I think it was Monday’s show. I was talking about the replacement voices for Rick and Morty and how new Bugs Bunny was awful, and I did a half ass Bugs Bunny and I was Facebook messaging with one of the listeners, Becky, and it got my brain going, and I’m like, all right, what if I combine half ass Bugs Bunny with half ass Jeff Foxworthy? And here’s what the late bot wrote.

Okay, you’re ready. It’s Bugs Bunny Worthy, double half ass impression. You’re ready. Here we go. If you’ve ever outsmarted a coyote who thought he was a genius, you might be a rabbit.

That’s so bad. One war hee, what’s up? Doc? If you’ve ever cross dressed just to confuse a hunter, you might be a rabbit. That was so bad.

This is why you have to have the real Rick and Morty voice. Trevor no was getting a new podcast. I like Trevor a lot. I think Spotify kind of made a mistake here. They announced this at Spotify Beach at canns Now.

Why is it a bad look? Johnny Mac, Remember last week Spotify laid off like two hundred people out of the podcast apartment, and now we’re at Spotify Beach at Cans during a party. And look, I’ve worked in the entertainment industry. I’m a big boy. I understand we could do two things at once.

When you lay off two hundred people and then you’re at Spotify Beach of Cans and it’s Paris Hilton and guys from Barcelona soccer and Trevor Noah and Emma Chamberlain bands and you laid off two hundred people, but we’re having a concert at the Beach of Cans. It’s just it doesn’t look good. It just doesn’t look good. Trevor Noah said, it’s really exciting to be joining Spotify and a fun new adventure. Will engage in interesting and meaningful conversations with some of the world’s most fascinating people.

Will also probably fix every single issue humankind has ever faced, so you definitely want to join us for every episode per they press release. The weekly podcast will blend Trevor’s signature humor and rezor sharp wit with his global perspective to deliver a unique a take on the hottest and most captivating topics of the moment. What’s interesting is this will not be only on Spotify. They’re going to release on all the platforms, just like this podcast Kevin Hart’s Out of Cans as well. The New York Post reports Kevin Hart vaguely alluded to his sex tape extortion scandal that nearly ended his marriage.

Well give me a talk at the Can’s Lines Festival, Kevin explain these not only changed it as a person, but also how the quote ecosystem of Kevin Hart’s has evolved over the years. Do you want to throw up in your garbage? Can you do the ecosystem of Kevin Hart? Stop? Let’s just stop, stop, stop stop.

Kevin said, there was a time when I doubled down on family. Why well, I have a lot of brands that love the idea of family. Let me show family on a global scale. So you’re into your family because brands love the idea of family. You sound like a psychopath.

Kevin said, there was a time when I focused on marriage and the household. There was a time when I focused on the idea of the mistake and it happening and being okay with the recovery. The Post reminds us In twenty nineteen, Kevin Hart was sued for sixty million dollars by woman who claims she had sex with the comedian in twenty seven teen and was secretly recorded by his friend. Kevin Hart denied ever facilitating a recording, but issued an apology for cheating on his wife. Back then, Kevin said, I’m gonna place in my life where I feel like I’ve a target on my back, and because of that, I should make smart decisions.

And recently I didn’t. You know, I’m not perfect. I’m not going to sit up here and say that I am or claimed to be in any shape or form. And I made a bad error judgment, and I put myself in a bad environment. Well, only bad things can happen.

They did. From unlad dot com. Robin Williams’ son has responded to a tweet which claimed that Robin Williams had left his family behind. This happened on Father’s Day. Zach Williams posted, So all the dad’s out there who go all out for their loved ones, thank you for everything to do.

Dad. I’m specifically remembering you for your courage and passion today. Thank you for helping me to learn and to be kind to myself as a first step towards showing up for others. Happy Father’s Day, Love you forever. Pretty nice there right by, Zach Williams.

Well. One person responded and said Robin Williams quote had left his family behind. Zach Williams respond and what a wonderful response. Zach wrote, First, I want to acknowledge your perspective With that said, there was a time when I was resentful, and I’ve done what I believe is necessary to work through the stigma associated with what you’re referencing. No one is asking you to idolize my father.

I adored him as he was an incredible friend and parent, and I’m sharing what I’m remembering him for today. Wishing you a happy Father’s Day, as you deserve to be happy. We all do. What a great response. David Spade told The Things dot Com he wouldn’t mind doing Late Night again.

He said, oh no, I liked the lights out and I hear so much about it after the fact, but I don’t think the people that were in place of Comedy Central would have ever canceled it.

And then it switched over.

A lot of things happened. They just had a different vision, which is like a new coach coming in. I understand how that works, but it was a bummer and they could brush it off and figure out what to do next. But it’s hard to do that every night. That was harder than it looks.

And I’m trying to write bits for the ending, and I’m trying to do monologue jokes. I see why it’s hard for regular talk show hosts. They’re very good at it. Brian Reagan talked about his absurdist side with the Hartford Current. An example of his absurd side, he said, somebody told me TV ad ten pounds.

I didn’t believe it until I was watching a show about ants and I was like, wow, those things look like they weighed ten point zero zero zero one pounds. Reagan said, I always want to feel like somebody can’t guess where I’m going, so I do something observational, then something absurd. I want it to be weird. He tries to make sure his current events material doesn’t get dated. He’ll say something like, well, I have a new president now, and as I try to be cagy enough to do jokes that both sides would laugh at.

When I’m really good, I get both sides to think I’m on their side. I’m on my second ice coffee today. Yeah, it’s one of those days. I was upleatd and needed the caffeine. So if you’d like to support the show, you can buy me a coffee.

And buy me a coffee dot com slash Daily Comedy News. There are some money in the tip jar. I’ll take your money out to the National Donuts chain and I will order some days, two ice coffee is the second. One. Today was butterper Can and milk.

And then my daughter’s like, wait, you say butterper Can. I’m like, yeah, butterper Can. She’s like no, All my friends say, I don’t know. We went down there. Is it pecan pie?

Is it butter per Can? And I’m like, it’s butter per Can. I’m from Queens, is how we say it. Apparently my daughter’s friends think that’s weird. Buy miacoffee dot com slash Daily Comedy News.

Just for Laughs has announced some more shows. These are the off JFL shows newly announced at the Montreal Comedy Festival coming up in July. Zarna garg At, Jena Yashier, Nimesh Patel, Frankie Kenyonius, Steph Tullev Judy Gold, They’ll say Sloane Sidney Washington, Mark Forward, Martin Urbano, and the Alternative Show. Still not sure I’m gonna be able to make it up there. I’m trying.

I’m trying. It’s gonna be a little hard. This year, Decider reviewed Rob Schneider is a new special on Fox Nation. I have not seen this one. I do not subscribe to Fox Nation.

Decide wrote memorable jokes. The first twenty minutes are packed with his most politically pointed barbs, choosing a voice to impersonate liberals that sounds not unlike fellow anti vax or Jim Brewer or even Carlos Mancias Old stick from mocking the intellectually disabled, Schneider gets applause breaks and booze for questioning Democrats or liberals who have chosen either not to define womanhood or picked different terminology for women. He takes on the United Air CEO for saying he wanted to hire more diverse pilots, using it as an excuse to act out an impersonation of an unqualified Puerto Rican little person with no sense of direction in the cockpit. He has a chunk about pandemic mask jokes notes comedians tinily that behind. Schneider then talks about his traditional liberal bona fides, earning light applause for sticking up for gay rights as civil rights, even if his support for gay marriage is dependent upon a joke that they have the right to be just as miserable as me.

Johnny Mac not pulling his punches today. Why do you do this podcast? Johnny? Just trying to make everyone mad at you. Probably that’s how it’ll end.

Schneider also has a few wolfully misguided and explicitly anti trans jokes, and he does have a joke about his own pronouns. His pronouns are he and haw, Oh my god, Hack, I’m sorry, Rob, I’m sure you tell these better. These are reading terribly pronoun joke, Come on, stop, Decider says, though it’s not all half bad. If he had taken out the most rabbit right wing red meat he could at a decent hour, but it might not have gotten him on Fox Nation. Their call.

If you don’t already have Fox Nation, skip it, save your free trial for some other time. But if you do have Fox Nation and you’re a middle aged or senior guy, this just might be the material you were looking for. Did Roy Wood Jr. say what he’ll do after The Daily Show?

The Shark Deck. I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News Cracks caught up with Kristin Shall. I am always fond of Kristen. I got to know her when she won the Kalfman Award back in two thousand and five. I just looked this up and candidly we drink till five of the morning at the New York City Comedy Fest.

I don’t know what it was, industry event, I don’t know. There was an open bar and we sat there all night and we had a great time. And she was not yet known then, and you know, just enjoyed hanging out with her, and then we had her up at Series Sex and many times. So always fond of Kristen. And I’m thinking back two thousand and five, She’s was thirty five.

Then it’s been a minute, Cracked asked Kristin, Hey, it’s mid June. If there wasn’t a writer strike going on right now, what would you be doing? And Kristen is an eternal prankster, and she said, I guess recording Bob’s Burgers. Now, if you’re a new listener to questions one, have you ever actually seen Bob’s Burgers? The answer is you haven’t you think you’ve seen it because you’ve seen artwork, and there’s clearly artwork.

You’ve seen merch, there’s clearly merch. But you’ve ever actually seen the show on Fox? I know Joe Buck would talk about during football. You’ve never actually seen it. And here’s another question for you.

Have you ever met anyone who has seen Bob’s Burgers? Yeah? Have it? Now? That’s really weird, right, Like it might be one thing that you don’t watch a show, but nobody has ever seen this show.

But you know, this is this whole industry thing that there’s a show called Bob’s Burgers and all the cool people in La pretend it exists. So Kristen said, I guess recording Bob’s Burgers. But June’s always been pretty chill for me. I’m really grateful. I feel for anybody in the middle of a show right now that they have to make the tough choice of what to do when the rules are a little bit gray for certain unions.

I think I know what I would do, but I’m also such a team player that it’s really tough. I’m a team player for everybody. I want to make everybody happy. My parents just this morning, We’re like, how’s the strike. I’m just proud to live in a country and be in an industry where we have all these unions to get benefits from the work we do.

It’s not the case in a lot of different places, so kudos America. Cracked asked her if she’d like to take over for Pat say Jack on Wheel of Fortune. She was on the celebrity edition, which she considered taking that gig christ and said, I never thought of that. There was one person who tweeted she was so good on it because they aired my episode last night, and then one person said she’s the most annoying thing I’ve ever seen. I think I might be a bit polarizing to the loyal legions of Fortune fans, but sure, I’ll tell my agent whenever a late night show host steps down, I’m always like I’m free, and they’re like absolutely.

Then Radio Silence Salon had a good interview with Tom Poppa, and Tom said I started to get tired of the narrative that we’re all apart and were at each other’s throats. I don’t find that when I’m traveling around. I think people, for the most part, are just trying to get along. I don’t like cynicism. I like hope.

I wanted to convey what I saw, which wasn’t even politically, that we’re not at each other’s throats. Just as human beings, we all really need each other all the time. I don’t succeed on my side of the street if you fail across the street. All it took was going through CBS one day. I saw all these things that are wrong with people, and all these solutions that are waiting.

You’re gonna have to go down every one of those aisles eventually. Now I’m buying something for a rash and there’s that weird section there’s a metal equipment for bigger toilets and handles, and it’s like, I’m not dealing with that today, but event I’m gonna want one of those. You have to cut yourself some slack. We’re all working very hard, we’re all doing the best we can, and you start to feel like you’re not doing enough, or you’re falling, or that you’re mess and that other people are succeeding much more than you. They’re not.

Nobody is. Everybody’s dealing with stuff. Everybody’s a mess. The most idealic people you see on social media. I think their lives are buttoned down.

They’re not. They also have to deal with problems. Salon also spoke with Roy Wood Junior, and he said the Daily Show probably best represents my approach to stand up, which is to find the alternate viewpoint on the issue. The Daily Show is a left leaning show, but my comedy is more centrist. It’s cool than the Daily Show to be able to find the pieces.

They’re a little bit more on the middle of the road, but my standup is probably way more centrist than what’s on the Daily Show. I learned a lot in my approach to comedy, my approach to stand up from working with Trevor Noah. Just how Trevor shows to break down divisive issues. It gave me a little bit of the same feeling that I could do that with my stand up. I don’t know what’s gonna happen with the strike.

When the strike ends, if they bring back the Daily Show? Am I a host, my assisting whoever they hired as a host? Am I gone somewhere else? Does my own thing? I don’t know.

I do that everything up until now represents for me from a career standpoint, It’s that Tom Brady New England run. Now it’s time to go to Tampa and see if I can keep the winning ways going. The La Times spoke with Anthony Kerrigan, you know him as no Hoe Hank on Barry, and he said, the biggest midsconception is that I’m a chechen mobster. Truly. People are baffled.

As soon as they start speaking in my normal voice. They look at me and they’re like, you’re not Russian, You’re not cheching. They’re mildly disappointed to learn that I’m from Massachusetts, so they’re like, Okay, do the voice. Do the voice. And I always do it because I’m a people pleaser.

That’s something i haven’t come with No Hoe Hank. But I’m not a criminal. I do not run a criminal enterprise. Just saying it now, No family size. Rob Mcalenny’s out promoting a new season of Welcome to Wrexham.

By the way, the new season of It’s Always Sunny is on point return to form. Not that the last season was bad, but this really feels like classic Sunny if you haven’t been watching it new episode tonight anyway, Rob talked about behind the scenes at Welcome to Rexham and said, it was definitely a war of attrition with Ryan Reynolds, who was very clearly uncomfortable from the very beginning. I treated it with as much respect as I could, bringing cameras to speak with everybody else. People assume that because we’re used to having cameras around us, that we’re comfortable having them documents our private lives, and nothing could be further from the truth. It puts you in a very vulnerable position because there’s nowhere to hide and all that people see as you what you see on the show is Ryan, what you see is me, and what you see is that town.

Although I recognize that I’m coming at it from a different perspective as an executive producer, because even though being on camera might be somewhat vulnerable for me, I’m in a certain position of power and I’m looking at the footage coming in because I could dictate what goes into the show and what doesn’t. Friday asked Rob how they changed their approach to the season after they knew that Wrexham did not get promoted in season one. Rob said was devastating. We had two or three episodes already done and edited. We had all these high hopes that there was going to be a happy ending, and we had to sit down and make the rest of the series knowing it was going to have a track again and figure out how to approach it.

But I remember having conversation with Ryan saying, we knew that we had a second season already picked up, and we knew we were going to start film again a few months. As a chairman, it’s terrible, but as a storyteller, it’s really not that bad. I mean, Rocky didn’t win at the end of the first Rocky because the point wasn’t that he beat Apollo Creed. It was that he proved himself that he mattered and he could keep getting up. So we knew there was an ending the story that could be profound.

But it definitely sets up an expectation for season two, because there really is no Rocky two where Rocky loses to Apollo again. JFL Montreal has announced Tray Kennedy will be playing Club Soda on July twenty ninth. They right. Tray Kennedy is a born and raised Oklahoma who never expected to enter the entertainment industry. While a’s sending college, he found fame on Vine.

Remember Vine, I remember being in Australia walking across the Anzac Bridge and my son recognizing some dude and be like he’s like famous on Vine. I was like, what, I’m so old. Tray Kennedy was a top creator on the app for more than three years and through this experience discovered a passion for entertainment. Now he’s on Instagram in TikTok has a combined twelve plus million followers as the old Guy recording a podcast in his basement is self produced comedy special Are You for Real? Can now be streamed on YouTube.

Tray Kennedy jfl Club Soda, which is a really cool club up at Montreal. July twenty nine. I had to bounced this yesterday because there’s so much going on with the rogue and stuff. Over the weekend, it was the Johnny Carson Comedy Festival. Northeast News Channel Nebraska spoke to magician Eric Buss, who said, I grew up watching Johnny Carson long before I got any of the jokes.

But when he had a magician on, I was allowed to stay up late and watch just because my dad’s laughter watching him. I could understand that this guy was pretty funny. So being here is pretty amazing and seeing the magic put forward here in this town. It’s not forgotten that he was a magician first. It’s really cool to see.

The entertainers were shown documentary footage just playing Johnny Carson revisiting his hometown. They got to play basketball in the driveway of Carson’s former home. Headliner Vicky Lawrence was presented to the festival’s Comedy Legend Award. William Shatner was on with Dina Carvey and David Spade on their podcast, and Shatner said, the best comedy is played absolutely real. If you can be ultra serious.

There’s a comedic cloud, just a little mist of comedy, so the audience knows it’s funny, but doesn’t know it’s funny. There’s a bounce there that you superb comedians know exactly what I mean. There’s a hint the actor is in on the comedy, but it’s absolutely real. They talked about William Shatner hosting SNL back in nineteen eighty six. That’s with the famous Get a Life sketch and also the restaurant Enterprise.

A young Dana Carvey admired how loose William Shatner was and asked him how it could be so relaxed. Shatner back then said, how else would you do this? We’re under rehearsed. We don’t know where we’re going. Shatner said, it’s a live show and they’re ninety minutes and material to memorize.

But you don’t need to remember the words because they’re all in front of you on key guards. You’re not going to forget. And in the course of putting together a story that I’m going to use over the weekend, I found this from Late Night with David Letterman. A young Todd Barry was part of viewer mail. Let’s listen from someone named Todd raz I’m guessing that’s just a nickname.

His last name is Barry from Tamarack, Florida. Here’s the situation. I do an unbelievable impression of Paul Shaffer. Here are the options. A fly me to New York, pay for everything and I’ll do the impression on your show.

Yeah right. Or call me and I’ll do it over the phone. So go ahead. Dave picked either A or B. Either way, I’m sure it will turn out to be a real nifty gig gee.

It was a tough choice. Todd, but I’ve selected option B. Let’s call this. We’re calling somewhere in Florida. Well, hello, Todd, how are you?

Is this Todd? My name is David Letter when I’m calling from New York City? How are you? Sir? Alright?

Where are you now? Todd? Sounds just like Paul, wasn’t it. I noticed, Todd the phone didn’t ring and you just picked it up. Did a ring there?

Yeah, that’s where that thing works. Gee. Uh, Todd. I’d love to go on talking with you, but I understand you do an impression of mister Paul Shaffer’s on real day. Okay, yeah, Dave, Yeah, Dave, it’s on real days.

I mean it’s it’s cuckoo groovy days. I mean I’m taking right now, Dave? Is it not in here? Just met Dave. It’s back to you, Dave.

Okay, thank you very much, very nice, Todd. Thank you, Gina. I wish we’d flown the kid in here. Uh. Absolutely amazing.

I missed twelve thirty Dave, and that it’s your comedy news for today. Follow the show for free on Apple podcast Spotify. I’m ten million followers behind some of these people on TikTok so smash that like button and all the other stuff whatever see tomorrow. Who does like vacations? The shark deck. Hey, what’s one all the pictures of John Oliver on Reddit High I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Well, there’s some protesting going on. Long story short. Reddit is trying to get rid of third party apps, and people on Reddit are getting a little cranky.

So earlier in June, a bunch of subreddits became inaccessible to protest changes over how the site’s being run. Now, some have reopened, but some of the bigger subreddits, such as r slash awe, r slash picks, and r slash gifts have decided to add some rules. Moderators of the r slash picks subreddit said that it’s rules now only allows users to post pictures of John Oliver looking sexy, but they point out that any picture of the comedian is allowed because John Oliver is always sexy. Beat Davidson charged with reckless driving. Remember earlier this year he kind of crashed into a house or something like that.

Seemed like that kind of got blown over in celebrity court, you know that goes on. Well, no, no, no no. Greg Risling is the assistant chief of Media Relations at the La County District Attorney’s Office. And he said Pete Davidson being charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving. Pete will be arraigned on July twenty seventh.

Rising said, we believe that mister Davidson engaged in reckless driving which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home. Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences. The incident happened back on March fourth, round eleven pm local time. Pete was driving a car and crashed into a fire hydrant in a home.

We’ll see what happens on July twenty seventh. Big Big kurfluffle involving Joe Rogan. Last week, Joe Rogan had on Robert F. Kennedy Junior. They had a discussion about the merits of vaccines.

Try and catch you up here. Rfk Junior suggested that routine vaccinations cause autisms. That prompted Peter hots His, who is dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, to label Kennedy’s statements as misinformation Hotsz retweeted vices story titled Spotify is stop even sort of trying to stem Joe Rogan’s vaccine misinformation. Hotez wrote, just awful and from all the online at tax I’m receiving after this absurd podcast, it’s clear many actually believed as nonsense. Joe Rogan then offered Hotez one hundred thousand dollars to debate RFK Junior on the Joe Rogan experience.

Hots Has responded, Joe, you have my cell, you have my email. I’m always willing to speak to you. Rogan called that reply a non answer. Hot Has said, Joe, if you’re serious about addressing vaccines, plus the fact that two hundred thousand unvaccinated Americans needlessly parish during our awful Delta slash BA dot one COVID waves because they fell victims to vaccine disinformation, I want to have that discussion. I’m happy to come on and have a meaningful discussion.

I respect you and your show, and I don’t want an adversarial relationship. I think we can make some progress. Elon Musk jumped in and said of hot says he’s afraid of a public debate because he knows he’s wrong. Hots has responded seriously, Elon, this is monstrous. Andy Kindler, the comedian wrote, unfunny propagandists like Joe Rogan and Jimmy Doer know the countless people have died believing their lives about COVID.

They’re not that stupid, they are that evil. Mark Cubans took some shots at Rogan, saying, way to talk in generalities, Joe not saying there aren’t a lot of fed up things about pharma, but to ignore that the same industry is saved. Who knows how many lives is bs and you know it. It’s also disrespectful to all the doctors, researchers, and medical professionals that dedicate their lives to saving lives. Trying to bully doctor Hotsz’s ridiculous.

You of producers that will prepare you and you get to control the conversation. Kennedy also has a staff ready to prepare him, and these topics are what he talks about in every speech. You both do this on a daily business, while doctor Hotsz works every day trying to find ways to help people. Joe, you and Elon must Twitter are the mainstream online media and your platforms have become everything supposedly wrong with MSM. You’re driven by self interest like the MSM always has been accused of.

You both have earned that right. You’ve busted your asses to be great at what you do and earned all you’ve accomplished. But don’t lie to yourselves and all of us and tell us you’re different. You aren’t. Salon had a really good interview with Roy.

Would Junior I share that in the Facebook group which is Daily Comedy News Podcast group, Please feel highly encouraged to join the group. Roy said, The thing it sucks is you can deny reality, but somehow your vote still matters. So if your vote still matters, then people have to figure out a way to appease you to some degree. That means meeting you in the middle a little bit, even if it’s infuriating and crazy. When you take a company like Target putting Pride Month merch in the back of the store, that’s the middle ground.

That’s because they’re trying to appease people who live in a totally different reality. They’re just trying to sell clothes. The truth is most of these corporations probably don’t care about half the causes they’re selling merch for they now, we’ll just buy it.

And then Roy got in a joke and said, and yeah, it needs to put that in the ba…

Unless it’s black owned, then of course I’ll support the Juneteenth tank top, where he continued, I just think that corporations are in a rock and a hard place. By the way, it’s not like Pride Month. Merch is a new thing, but now all of a sudden, they’re mad. Now the corporations are having to choose. The eventual regression will be corporations not taking any political stances.

Ever, again, most of the stores will become issue neutral. We could say we’re not going to boycott the store, but if all the stores take the same stance, what are you gonna do. You’re gonna make your own toilet tissue, You’re gonna make your own medicine. Last week in Beverly Hills, Howie Mandel, Rachel Bloom, and Michael Rappaport did a show called The Roast of Anti Semitism. The Times of Israel reports there were countless jokes about anti Semitic stereotypes.

More than one performer mocked the idea that the Jews control the weather, noting the auditorium was pretty warm. Howe Mandel closed out the show and he made fun of a woman in the front row for falling asleep during a set, saying, we’ve been persecuted for six thousand years. You can’t sit for an effing hour. The rest of today’s a podcast is going to be about me feeling old, and maybe you guys go and he’s old, doesn’t get it. But I have a feeling a lot of you are with me on this.

Were you aware that the Lost Culturista’s Culture Awards were even happening? Now? If I tell you they happened at Lincoln Center over the weekend, would you be? Because I was, like, what, I’ll remind you. I put this podcast out seven days a week.

I work on it at least five I have news trackers. I type in words like comedian and comedy into Google and I see what comes up. I don’t know if I just clost over this anyway. Apparently the Lost Cultureistas Culture Awards is an annual thing and it’s catching on if it’s at Lincoln Center. It’s hosted by Matt Rodgers and Bowen Yang.

It’s a parody awards show that has graduated from celebrating culture to creating it just two years, writes Vulture. They now stage a massive production, complete with musical numbers and four hour long queues. Gabby was on the line and said those tickets were harder to get than Taylor Swift tickets. A group of ticket holders confirmed there was a waiting room just like Taylor Swift. As the show began, the line to get in still snaked around the block.

One fan said, morales low, capacity is high. I think it’s delusion. Comedian and presenter Charlie Bardi said it’s like we’re gonna do a fun comedy show on Lincoln Center, and then it was like, oh my god, there’s a bajillion people here. Bowen agreed that the show itself is incredibly obtuse. He was interviewed by journalists on an actual red carpet.

Reformers described the show as gay Coachella, a gay football game, the hottest tick at Manhattan, and a backyard production of Pepin And Here are some of the winners and losers of the twenty twenty three Loss Culturista’s Culture Awards, as recap by Vulture. Winners, teachers, artists, and neighbors. Losers Annie’s Mac and Cheese because Kraft Mac and Cheese was a sponsor of the night and the audience was letting a group reading of the famed last clutchad for the product Annie’s Can Go Choke, writes Vulture winner Andy Cohen. He accepted the award for Best Gay Guy Parentheses famous loser the technically Correct Spelling Nineties as an nine zero s in favor of nineties nine zero apostrophees winner LaGuardia Airport, which won three awards and received the video montage sets to Glamorous by Fergie winner Kate Blanchett, who won the Kate Blanchett Award for Good Acting. It sounds like it was fun.

I had no idea somehow. Remember that John Earle’s new special was out on Max, the former HBO Max, although this is an HBO special on HBO on Max, which is not HBO Max. Guy, straight on your branding and go back to HBO Max. This is a very stupid John Early now more than ever, I’m going to have some spoilers for it, and this will be the last topic of the day. So if you’re planning on watching John Early and don’t want me spoiling it, and why don’t you bail now?

Everybody else can hang around for a second. I will give you my general vibe. It left me feeling old. I posted on the Facebook group again Daily Comedy News podcast group. I was watching it.

I’m like, is this awful? Is this amazing? I’m not sure I get it. I was entertained, I was confused, and I usually am pretty hip to the comedy scene. This one had me feeling the gray hairs on my temples there a little bit.

So it’s kind of like a mockumentary of a band. He came out and he did a song I’m not even sure the song was supposed to be funny or not, then told some jokes. Then we go into like a basic band mockumentary documentary behind the scenes where he’s playing himself as a jerk hole. Than they did a cover of a Britney Spears song. Than more stand up comedy, And at one point about forty minutes in, I was like, I just don’t care.

And I watched Cocaine Bear. I know I’m late on this. Oh my god, Cocaine Bear, laugh out loud, funny. I have to add Cocaine Bear to the best of twenty three list. Let me see how high this is it?

Is it better than Kunk on Earth? No? Is it better than Kyle Canaine? No better than Nate? No?

Is it better than Jay McBride. Yeah, all right, look at this slotting in at the number fourth thing of the year. Cocaine Bear. You’ll find it on Peacock highly recommended. Silly fun.

Anyway, back to John Early, The Daily Beast writes, anything less than loud would be a disservice to yourself. You have to hear it Blair through your walls. Without that volume crank, you might miss Early opening a set with a Trump joke somewhat unexpected from a comic contends to be more subtle the joke, and this was actually one of my favorite things of the night. If we look back at the Access Hollywood tapes, not so bad. Trump sounds less predatory in retrospect, maybe a little more like someone who’s terrified of sex.

Best line of the night. I guess it sounded like locker room talk in that it sounded like me at age twelve in the locker room, trying to convince a group of straight guys that I like Lizzie. Then he does that next section. I won’t totally spoil it. Very very funny.

The Daily Beast calls a special unpredictable and has to be seen to be fully appreciated. It shot more like a variety of show and less like a conventional stand up special, with multiple cameras zooming in and out to follow early across the stage. That dynamic range highlights its subject’s physicality. I’d be curious to know what you guys thought of the special. Like I said, it left me feeling confused and old.

It was entertaining. M Does it make the best of twenty three list? It probably does, right below Sarah Silverman. So I’m updating the list as I record the podcast, So generally now at number ten, you want the latest version of list, updated as you listen. All Right, Funniest things at twenty three so far, Kunk on Earth, Kyle Canaine, Napergatzy Cocaine, Bear, Jay McBride, Jim Jefferies, Harry Conabolo, Chris Rock, The Roast of Mister Peanut, Big, Jay Okerson, Sarah Silverman, John Earley, not on the list, Amy Schumer, John Malley, Lewis black Kind against Me, Mark Marin, Andrew Santino, B Craisher, Greg Warren, did not see Rosanne, did not see what’s his name from SNL that had the one on Fox.

You could just look it up and edit this John, you know, but that’s not fun. Guys. Rob Schneider, that’s his name. And while I have Rob Schneider and Google, is there any review of Rob Schneider yet? No?

That’s your comedy news for today. Follow the show for free on Apple Podcasts or Spotify for on YouTube. Smash that light button. Huh see you tomorrow. All right, enough with the negativity.

The Shark Deck johnny Man with your Daily Comedy News, and I lost my script. It’s usually here. Where did you go here? It is? John?

Why don’t you edit that out because that’s not fun. That’s what really happened. From the Valdosta of Daily Times, they spoke to Dan Whitney, you might know him as Larry the Cable Guy. Dan explained coming up through the ranks at the time using Larry the Cable Guy was like a brand, brand that took off in a big way. It was a really crazy thing.

I was just a comedian and all of this was such a whirlwind. I remember when I first met Larry. We had Jeff Foxworthy coming up to Sirius and his publicist was like, hey, you guys want to talk to Larry the Cable Guy. And we were like, we don’t know that it is sure, Yeah, we’ll talk to him. We had no idea, So I think we made friends with Larry about thirty seconds before he really blew up Dan Slash.

Larry is an awesome, awesome dude. If you go down on the feed. He’s one of the few guests that I’ve had on this show over the last few years. A true friend and I always laugh at the interview if you listen back spoiler. I actually had to wrap up the interview because I had to jump on a zoom call for work, and Larry made a joke about how he put my kids through school, and I laughed, and I’m like, it’s pretty much true.

Love that guy. Dan said his management team at the time pushed him to use Larry the Cable Guy name for everything. The team was aggressive if media mentioned his real name and stories about the comedian. Whitney laughed, saying he never had a problem using his real name and doesn’t now, and he wishes he had used his name in the Cars movies, but he’s fine being known as Larry the Cable Guy. He said, I’m a country kid from Nebraska who grew up in Florida and went to school in Georgia.

I’ve lived in Florida for thirty to forty years now, the article points out, and I’ve talked about this in the past. His phone voice is familiar. It sounds close to the voice you expect to hear in a phone interview with Larry the Cable Guy. But it’s not until he starts talking in character that one realizes his real speaking voice has a hint of Southern flavor, but nothing like the dippton kutsue and sweet sea of Larry the Cable Guy. He could turn the voice off and on like water.

I’ve talked about this in the past when I’ve hung out with him. Sometimes you’re talking to Dan and sometimes you’re talking to Larry the Cable Guy, and it’s not like it’s not like he’s the joker like, but sometimes he slips in a Larry the Cable Guy. But when you’re backstage, Dan is usually hanging out. His first gig as a stand up nineteen eighty five and nineteen eighty eight, he quit his day job and again performing full time. Said I love making people laugh.

Will there be another Blue Collar Comedy Tour? And I’ll remind you both Bill Engvall and Ron White retired at the end of last year. But I agree with what Larry says. Here He goes, you’ve got four guys in their sixties and points out he himself has cut back on doing one man shows to spend time with his wife and children. He usually books performances to coincide with golf tournaments.

But as for the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, and I think he’s right here. It’s probably not going to happen, but I could see in another five years or so doing a reunion thing and a casino in Vegas. I agree, there’s money on the table. I could see that happening. The New Yorker spoke to Sarah Silverman about her recent special, and she said, you know, I never think about doing a special.

I never write stand up aiming for a special. I ever think about it. This is my fourth special, and I’ve been doing stand up for thirty three years. I did a pilot for HBO right before the pandemic, and part of that deal was a special, and then they didn’t pick up the pilot, but I still owed them a special.

And then the pandemic happened.

I didn’t know stand up for the longest time.

And then stand up came back and we get a call from HBO and they’re like, it’s…

Sarah said, I’ve never owed a special like that. Usually I’ll have an hour and someone says, can you do a special? And I go, yeah, right. She does seem bummed that HBO didn’t pick up the pilot, telling the New Yorker, it’s funny because I was really bummed about it. I was like, they need this show.

Was a great pilot, a political half hour weekly. It was like a John Oliver or Bill Maher type show. I was gutted. I was so bummed. When a pilot doesn’t go, you’re always bummed.

I was like, I can’t believe they’re blowing this opportunity the pilot. Of course it didn’t air and none I’ll see it. But two years later, everything we were talking about came to the four. Now it seems trite, but it was about the algorithms of social media that brings us to the Daily Show. Remember she hosted it for a week back in times when there were writers and late night shows were a thing.

The New Yorker asked, have you ever been in conversations to host your own late night show or take over from one of existing hosts. Sarah said no. I had a blast doing it, meaning the Daily Show, But that’s never been something I wanted in my life. I love doing odd jobs. The Daily Show was so exhilarating and such a lesson in immediacy.

You’re sitting with a producer and she’s like, use it or move on. She’s keeping on track. I remember when I hosted SNL. At the after party, I was sitting with Lauren Michaels and Martin Short and Lauren said that Morty was going to do a thing on Update tonight and I was like, oh my god, that would have been incredible. And Lauren said Martin’s promise that he wants everything to be perfect, when the truth is it just has to be good.

And I thought that was so funny. But when I guest hosted The Daily Show, I immediately understood it perfect is the enemy of good. It’s about using what works and making it the best it can be. How does Sarah pick projects? She says, you know, there’s been a couple of things I did for money.

You know, I get this amount of money and hopefully no one will see it. All sorts of variables go into decisions. Doing a rich guy’s daughter’s kinsinia, Yeah, that’s a money get great. I got to do a commercial for Uber Eats that was a godsend. It was awesome.

A small part in a movie I think is awesome. That’s great. I keep my overhead low. I’m not one for purses. Gives me an incredible amount of freedom.

There could be something where I go, Yeah, This looks good, but there were so many crowd scenes and those take too long. I make decisions based on quality of life. Sometimes I say no to stuff because I’m scared or lazy. I’m trying not to do that so much, but I also love being home. She sounds very grounded.

I liked her most recent special, A Lot’s currently number nine on the Best of twenty twenty three list. Salon spoke to David Cross. They were curious how David came up with the name of his tour Worst Daddy in the World, and they said, was there voting? Did your daughter choose it? Cross said, oh, yeah, there was the subcommittee, which is done out of Oslo in Norway, and they meet quarterly and they just go through everything and then five thirty eight has something to do with it.

I know they’re involved, but yeah, I was submitted by my daughter and I went through all the levels you have to go through and then I emerged on top. Can I tell you I’m impressed with how today’s podcast is coming out. I wrote this on Friday. There was absolutely no news and I went into Google and typed in every single comedian I could think of, which is how I went up with the Larry the Cable Guys story and these next two I’m gonna do. This is pretty good.

I’ve shared this before. There’s a story about Tom sever late in his career and the pitching coach comes out and goes, you know you have nothing today, and Sepher goes, yeah, but they don’t know that. And I think if I didn’t tell you that I’m kind of checking and jiving today, I’m not sure you would have noticed. Johnny makes Little prownd to today’s podcast. Lewis Black spoke to the La Times and they said COVID drinking.

Was that a thing? Lewis said, I was pretty good with that. I gave myself like two glasses of wine and I said to my shrink, it’s got me. It’s such worried. And the shrink said, better than lithium.

Glasses of wine are probably better than any of the antidepressants you could take. And it worked. What I did do is I binge watched a lot of TV. And part of the reason I binge watched, beside the distraction level, is the fact that I’ve waited my whole life for tvd be that type of mature and be that smart and have that level of acting, that level of writing. Comedian Ohmed jually caught speeding while desperate for the toilet.

The fifty seven year old comedian was stopped on the edge of Regent’s Park after a copper spotted at him flying along the road and his luxury Lexus. The officers told a magistrate’s court. As soon as I stopped the driver, he said he needed a wee. The officers said. He questioned July to see if he knew at the road I had a twenty mile an hour speed limit, which I’ve never been on all Buddy Street.

But that’s ridiculous. You can’t drive a cart twenty Julius said, I’ve been down here in many years. Speed thirty forty. I must be doing forty five or something. The officer said.

I showed him the speed gun. He was doing forty seven. I informed him that I could see that he was flying towards me. I asked for his driving license, and he asked me to be quick because he needed to go to the toilet. This happened back in November.

Last week, on Tuesday, a magistrate find the comedian six hundred sixty pounds ordered him to pay a two hundred and sixty four pound victim surch George plus one hundred pounds in costs. Yikes, guys, come on, also imposed six penalty points on his license. Julyly was given a two hundred pound fine in March last year for speeding by Gatwick Airport, and received a thirteen hundred pound penalty in twenty thirteen for speeding on the M four. At that time, he joked to the court comedian humbly asking for leniency. In two thousand and eight, he lost his license after racking up more than twelve penalty points.

He got a second man twenty twelve after being caught driving without a valid license or insurance. He said, you should never do jokes in court. The judge said to me, you have thirty six points on your license and another eighteen pending, which takes you up to fifty four, which is uk ricord. We’re gonna ban you from driving for six months. Do you have anything to say?

I said, could you give me a lift to the station, your honor? And the judge said that’s not funny. Did you guys check out my postclode dot com yet? What are you doing? Get over there on my Postclode dot Com and they sponsor Today’s Daily Comedy News.

You know I’m stilling over this driving record thing. If you have the record for points, you only get suspended for six months, I think if you have the record lifetime band no, yes, yes? Do you like Rick and Morty? Remember they broke up with Justin Royland. Justin Royland importantly was the voice of Rick and the voice of Morty.

Seems like a big deal. Adult Swim president Michael Olleen was talking to French publication Premiere and said Royland will be replaced in dubbing. Voices are obviously super important in an animated series, and of course none of us wanted to go through what we went through. But I’ve been in animation for a long time, and I know what makes a series is it’s different parts coming together. I’ll jump in like the voices.

If the voices are obviously a big part, there’s also the writing of the characters in their design, he added the new voice act this worries me. He added, the new voice actor would simply not do an impersonation of Royland. I think his reasonab believe the transition will go. Well, here’s the part that worries me. He compared it to Bugs Bunny, which has had many voice actors over the years.

Time out, full, time out. Okay, I’m making a tea and I’m stecking back from the huddle, and I’m talking you directly. You’ve watched Bugs Bunny, the classic ones with mel blank. That’s what Bud’s supposed to sound like. Some of the ones in like the I don’t know, eighties, nineties, not the best Bugs.

It’s like me doing Bugs Bunny. Do you want to hear what that sounds like? You do? What’s up? Doc?

That was terrible? Do you want Rick and Warty to be that bad? Do with justin Royland impression? Don’t tell me the Bugs Bunny being voiced by different people is a good example of this. It’s like Kermit the Frog.

Have you heard some of the terrible Kermits over the years. Stop very worrisome, but the adult swimsuit says, I even think that for Rick and Warty will do even better. It’ll be fine, It’ll be great. Yeah. Yeah.

What we do in the Shadows season five already back on July thirteenth. If you’re not familiar with what we do in the Shadows, where you’ve been, I’ll dump it down. Why did Larry Charles leave Seinfeld?

The Shark Deck Mappy Father’s Day, or as Mets announcer Ralph Kiner once famously said, to all your father’s out there, Happy birthday. I am Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Jim Gaffigan was on Drew Barrymore’s show like a month ago and told some dad jokes, and your favorite Daily Comedy News podcast host was like, let me save these Forefathers Day or right. Jim Gaffigan said, did you hear the rumor about butter Well, I’m not going to spread it. Jim said, I love dad jokes because the reason dad’s do dad jokes is to make the children unhappy.

The fact that they’re so bad that they annoyed child that brings joy to an older man. Amen Amy Schumer was commenting on al Pachito becoming a father ALA’s eighty three. Amy was also commenting on Robert de Niro seventy nine becoming a new father. Amy said, everyone’s like congrats. If it was Jane Fonda, people would call the police.

It’s weird. It doesn’t make me comfortable. Kevin Hart is opening a new Heart’s House. Remember Kevin is in the Fast Business. Hardhouse features plants forward food including sandwiches, salads, nuggets, fries, tots, and milkshakes.

New location on the campus of USC. If you ever been on the campus, They’ve got like a nice little call it a downtown the area. I recorded to buy me a coffee there about a year ago. Kenny had bought me a coffee and telt me to go to the Green Logo coffee chain. There’s one in this little campus area.

Anyway, They’re opening up a hardhouse thirteen hundred ten square feet, four interior seats at a standing bar. The official personally says the highlight of this location is the sprawling twenty three hundred square foot beautifully lit and landscaped outdoor seating area with forty patio seats featuring a beautiful water fountain. I saw the renderings. Looks beautiful. George Lopez credits the Michael Jordan era Chicago Bulls for his success.

George said, on my first sitcom, it took a lot to figure out the angles for the direction of the show. We wanted to wrap it around my real life. I love the Chicago Bulls. At that time, and their coach Phil Jackson had built their five player strategy called the triangle, and I said, we’re going to do the triangle in comedy. The show was broken down and in me and my mom and my wife, then my work, my mom and my buddy, then the kids.

I worked all that in because I said, we’re gonna do this in triangles. It worked for Phil Jackson with the Bulls and Lakers, and it works for me. The Daily Bee spoke to Julia. Louis Dreyfuss the Best said Elane’s not in the pilot of Seinfeld, but you come in that second episode. What was it like to enter the world is the only female character on the show.

Julia said, well, I never really approached it from the perspective of my gender per se. I wanted to play ball with everybody. I’m not gonna lie. In the beginning, I didn’t have a lot to do in certain episodes, and I’d go to Larry and Jerry multiple times say hey, guys, write me more. I need to be in the show more.

And that’s what I kept doing and they did. The best points out in the Seinfeld episodes where Jerry is working on the sitcom Jerry, they joked that they don’t know how to write for a woman. Julie said, yeah, but you see, they didn’t write for me as a woman. They just wrote for me for this character as supposed to this gender, which I think it’s instructive in a lot of ways from a writing point of view. They asked if they thought Elane evolved, and Julia said, I think she evolved.

I think she got angrier. I mean, you have to wonder why these four characters would always hang out together. They’re constantly bickering, They’re constantly getting into trouble in one way or another and losing money. Apparently, there was an unfilmed script about Alan buying a gun. The network rejected the idea, which led to Larry Charles leaving the show.

They asked what Julia remembered about it, and she said, I remember it didn’t get a lot of laughs. And believe me, I love Larry Charles. Don’t misunderstand that script felt a little dark. It was out of people’s comfort zones, and that’s saying something on that show. As for their finale, I will say, from a purely emotional point of view, it was really a delight to sit there in the courtroom and watch one guest actor after another parade through I mean, it was like we were watching the show.

So that was really fun that aspect of it. But I understood why people were disappointed. First of all expectations ridiculous. But I also understood because we didn’t do too much in it. Once we had been arrested and in court, it was just us sitting there watching one person after another person parade through.

And if you missed it, I think it was last Sunday, definitely last weekend. I brought up as a topic that I saw on the internet. Question for you, is the character of Alan supposed to be hot? We’re not talking about Julie. We’re talking about the character of Alene.

If you missed that episode, go back in the feed. You’ll find that about a week ago. If you have Fox Nation, you could check out Rob Schneider’s new special Woke Up in America, featuring Schneider’s signature comedic take on a variety of topics, including culture wars, living in a woke world, and navigating the nuanced times of identity politics. He’ll also tackle the controversy surrounding the word woman and UFOs, plus making a movie with former President Donald Trump and his own vasectomy saga. Rob Schneider woke up in America today.

Jack Whitehall did a show over in the UK, and apparently people didn’t like it. I Knews called it outdated laddie banter about campness and anal This is safe stuff from a comedian who knows how to please as loyal fans, but not the rest of us. The show promises an exploration of his new found maturity. He’s in a long term relationship, he bought a dog, it is now expecting his first child. His days of drinking, drugs and one night stands are over.

He tells us this show feels like a pivotal moment for me, but real depth never truly emerge.

Meanwhile, The Guardian gave it two stars and said the stand up promises more…

Okay, kind of the same review. Right. While he gets decent comedy out of his girlfriend’s inquisitive TV habits, his engagement with this stuff remains superficial and isolated. Moments only he tries to give us something more about a social anxiety or how we should be celebrating representation. Whenever we see it is the boy finally becoming a man.

Maybe so, but on this evidence he won’t put aside childish things without a struggle. Oh not good. And from Far Out Magazine they have uncovered the Sandler Verse. The Sandler Verse theory points to running gags and returning characters who seem to crop up time and time again throughout Adam Sandler movies. YouTuber Sean Cone has a detailed video explaining some of the examples, like Rob Schneider’s you Can do It, Jeer from The Water Boy appearing again in Little Nikki than Sandler himself says the line in two thousand ones, and the animal the Caddy from Happy Gilmore also appears in Jack and Jill.

The appearance of pro golfer Chubbs Peterson shows up in Little Nikki in two thousand. Some characters have shown up time and time again, including Officer Jack Pugh, Eric Lamonsof, and ten Second Tom. When Adam Sandler was asked if he had like a multiverse team up movie like a Marvel thing, Sandler said, I’d like that. I’d like to get mentally ready for that. That’ll probably happen, and maybe another thirty five years we’re gonna get to that and that he’s your comedy news for today, Happy Father’s Day.
