Caloroga Shark Media. Hello again, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News back quote unquote live. As we head towards Memorial Day weekend, and normally this week I would worry about it’s a little slow. It is not slow at all. Sarah Silverman has a special ad on Netflix today and did a ton of press which I’ll cover, And then on Saturday Gerard Carmichael, and then on Monday Mike Berbigley.

I have specials, so there will be plenty to talk about. Especially next week can be tough, but hopefully those two extra specials will get us through it. And I’ve already put a bunch of stuff away for Monday and Tuesday of next week, so I am hopeful. This week I can already tell you it is busy. I’ve worked on half the scripts.

Let’s jump in. As I mentioned, Sarah Silverman did a ton of press. She is the guest don at least two podcasts. She did Conan O’Brien’s podcast, which I listened to this morning. I didn’t last long.

They were just shucking jokes, perfectly entertaining, perfectly funny. Just do I have my phone on me? Hold on? Let me tell you how many things I have on my phone. So right now on my phone, I have one hundred and thirty podcasts downloaded, which is a low number for me.

I consume a lot of content. So Sarah Conan, it’s fine, you should listen to it, There’s just too much for me to consume. Mark Maron also had Sarah on that is a quote unquote real interview, and I thought very compelling. So if you’re only going to listen to one, pick the Marin one. Sarah had spoken to John Mulaney last week about her irregular sleep cycle, and she says, I love sleep, and I sleep like maybe two hours and then I get up a little, and then I sleep another two hours and then get up a little.

M’laney was curious if she has a routine before bed. Sarah said, I sure, do you want to hear it? Well, I wash my face and I use obviously many serums and oils and creams, and then I floss my teeth, and I’ll be honest, I do it in front of one of those big magnifying rivers. I want to see everything come out, and then forgive me, John, then I take a little pufferoo and then I brush my teeth. Molany was curious why I dental hygiene in marijuana are paired.

The Silverman said, because I floss, and then I don’t want to brush my teeth and then get high, because you know that’s not good for your breath, disgusting smoke. I can floss while high, but then I do it for about twenty minutes. She was on a radio show and talked about her relationship with Pam Anderson and told Andy Cohen, I will tell you something about Pam Anderson, who I think does not care for me, which I was surprised by. Sarah was at a big, fancy Hollywood galla that they have every year. She went as Sasha baron Cohen’s date.

Sarah explained, so I went, she was there, and of course he’s got that connection from Borat with her, and I had roasted her and I was on that show VIP. She looks at me and she goes, oh, yeah, he told horrible jokes about me on my roast, and then she turned around and left, and I was like, my heart is broken. The joke on the roast, which I will paraphrase, because we try and keep it clean here. You know what a lot of people say, oh, Pamela Anderson wouldn’t be anywhere without her breasts, and that’s not true. She’d be Paris Hilton.

Sarah went on a different radio show and said Conan O’Brien was the best thing for me. It was his first year on late night on my first don only year at SNL, and he put me on all the time, even after I was fired, all the time, and that was the start for me. And I wouldn’t have been able to be on Conan without SNL. And it was an incredible kind of boot camp experience. She explains being on SNL was so magical, so amazing, but there was also something about it where they just have this energy.

They puts you in your place where you feel like her piece of crap. The anxiety. It’s very hard to be zen and chill there. Andy Samberg did that whole piece about the anxiety of doing something for SNL. It was very honest.

I thought a lot of people connected to it that were there we all felt like losers for some reason. I was totally thrown for a loop when I was fired because it never occurred to me that was possible. But I think it’s definitely for the Best. Sarah did a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone, which I shared in the Facebook group Daily Comedy of his podcast group. She talked about not for the first time, being regretful about some of the racist stuff she did in her past.

Sarah explains, I felt like the temperature of the world around me at the time was like, we’re all liberal, so we can say the N word. We are racist, so we can say this derogatory stuff. I was playing a character that was ignorant, so I thought, okay, looking back, my intentions were always good, but they were effing ignorant. A Rolling Stone then skips ahead two and two one twenty two, Dave Chappelle did an SNL monologue riffing on anti Semitic social media posts by Kanye West in NBA star Kyrie Irving. On her podcast, Sarah described Chappelle’s monologue as hilarious and brilliant and winning and wildly anti Semitic.

Silverman played a clip from the monologue. The clip, Chappelle says, I know the Jewish people have been through terrible things all over the world, but but you can’t blame them on Black Americans. You just can’t. Sarah chimes in and says he’s kind of like Jimmy Stewart’s stutters at the end to give a little folksy truth telling charm. But the idea that calling out massively influential zillionaire superstars for posting lies and promoting hatred of Jews is the Jews blaming their troubles on black Americans is effing insane.

Can’t believe I have to say this. Sarah Silverman new special on Netflix today Saturday Night Live. I thought the finale best episode of the season, which is great. Maybe there was one better. There weren’t a lot better, but it was really really strong all the way through the second musical act.

Then it kind of fell off a cliff, but really strong.

Also of note was Scarlett Johansson in every sketch, which is pretty impressi…

Maybe I think Scarlett was in all of them. She was fantastic. But what everybody’s talking about is who’s leaving a late nighter. Read the tea leaves. I think I agree with them here they wrote there were some signs that at least one high profile cast member tends to leave that cast member’s bow and Yang, who got as close to a goodbye sketch as anyone with Bowen still straight.

The Good Knights offered further hints that maybe Yang is in fact leaving in the Good Nights, which were cut off on the live broadcast. I watched the Hulu version on Sunday, which had the complete Good Nights, But yeah, they got off in the middle of The Good Knights. What are you doing NBC? Anyway? In The Good Nights you see a tearful bow and Yang and fellow cast member Sarah Sherman embracing for a full twenty seconds later, Yang and Eggo Nuotam share what looks to be a meaningful hug.

Late Night also points out the fact that Gardiner Dan Yang stood together at the top of Good Nights with their arms around each other. Could mean they’re just good friends, or maybe they’re leaving. I was watching the Tea Leaves as well. I couldn’t even find Michael Jay In The Good Nights. Jost came out and gave his wife, Scarlett Trahansen, some flowers and then walked off.

He didn’t seem emotional in the Good nights, although during Weekend Update I thought he was getting choked up at one point was working hard to keep his composure. We’ll see. And I know Bowen recently had given that quote that he wasn’t leaving, but his body language to me makes me think he’s leaving. We’ll see plenty to talk about all summer.

Speaking of Colin Jost, he will join the cast of The Breadwinner.

That’s the Nate Bergatzy movie. We’ll Forteke, Colin, and Kamil on Gianni are all in the Bread Winter. In the Bread Winter, Nate Berghatzy’s characters life is turned upside down when his super mom wife lands a deal on Shark Tank. Nate becomes a stay at home dad and quickly realizes he’s way in over his head. Hilarity in Who’s Marcelo Hernandez who does one thing really well?

Is going to be in a movie with Kevin Hart, who does one thing really well. The movie is called seventy two Hours. I’ll talk a little bit about that more tomorrow. Kevin Hart will play a forty something executive who hopes to save his flailing career by joining a group of twenty somethings on a wild bachelor party weekend, an opportunity the Kevin Hart character seizes on after inadvertently getting added to a group text Mars Hernandez, who does one thing really well? We’ll play the groom’s best man?

An official Bachelor party captain. More snl Chevy Chase will be the subject of a new documentary from CNN Films. It’s called I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not. Chase is involved with it. CNN describes it as authorized, yet unfiltered.

Chase, in his own statement, said, I understand CNN’s going to release a documentary about me. I’m delighted and I hope I’m in it. I didn’t see any update on the Theo Vaughn alleged bar fight that I told you about yesterday, but New York Magazine wrote, is Theo von Trump’s new sidekick? Currently? Theovaughn made an appearance that ruffled some feathers.

The President and Theovaughn were at a US air base in Qatar last Thursday. You may recall Trump was on Theo’s podcast. He described the podcast appearance to the crowd of eight thousand troops and told them we had a good time. Trump then goofed on the four stars leading the military and the quote freaking losers who doubted Trump’s military strategy. The President added, we don’t care if you’re politically correct.

Theovaughn was the warm up act. He joked, where do you think the next nine to eleven should happen? Joked that there was no crime in Qatar because everyone is named Mohammed and everyone dresses in quote ku klux Sandman robes. THEO called the navy gay reports are The jokes drew some laughter and some groans from the people in the audience. Sent your letters to Theovaughan and the President.

As I mentioned, I always listened back to my own podcast to make sure I didn’t make a mistake. Sometimes I make a mistake and I have to go back and re upload it. I think I made one last week one day, Yeah, maybe Thursday or so. The opening music was a little low and I had to go back in. So I was listening back to myself, and it really registered with me that on the all time comedian list, having Amy Schumer on those lists at all, it’s just insane.

Maybe if we get one hundred down, sure, but like a top ten, top fifteen, to have Amy Schumer in an all time comedian list is insane. Now as I thought about it, more, she may have an all time sketch, her twelve Angry Men sketch. Sure, maybe if we make a list of the all time sketches, Amy might be pretty far up there with that one. So perhaps to that sketch. But as a comedian, I mean, what’s her signature bit, what’s her signature body of work?

It doesn’t exist. And if we’re going to do like all time sketch things are, we’re going to put Amy’s work ahead of say, I don’t know kids in the hall. No, not being anti Amy, but let’s just rank everybody properly. As I mentioned, you know, I had four episodes on tape, as they say in the business, so I didn’t get to share this one with you. But I had noticed on Thursday, all of a sudden, Kevin Hart canceled a bunch of shows, including one or Friday Night.

I’m speculating that maybe the movie popped up and that’s why he canceled the ones in the summer, but to cancel one for the next night is a little weird. Did a Google of Kevin Hart. Nothing came up. We’ll keep an eye on that one. On Gossip Corner, Ali Wong was spotted at the Chase Center for the Golden Skate Valkyrie’s first ever w NBA regular season opener.

On Friday night, Beth Stelling abruptly canceled her Saturday night shows at the Kennedy Center. That news also popped up on Thursday. Look, you know, Ubu, but like to cancel a show, I don’t know thirty six hours before. I’m assuming it is a political statement, but like, there was nothing new. You could have canceled your shows two months ago.

So I just show up for your fans. Like come, al Bell did show up for your fans.

Also, I know people who work at the Kennedy Center.

Canceling your show and taking away the revenue of the business of the Kennedy Center. That is not helpful. You’re actually a hurting the people who work there. So do the show, and while you have the microphone, say your piece. I don’t think canceling the show at the Kennedy Center is the right thing to do.

Best selling, but whatever, Aubu.

Also on gossip Corner, the Light Simes had reported a three day pause and ope…

But good news the barbecue place had reopened a Friday afternoon, Ac Barbecue. You’ll find AC Barbecue in the Westfield Century City Mall’s Dining Hall. They had their grand opening May seventh, but got shut down last Tuesday. The La County Department of Public Health said the barbecue had opened without approval or permit. But seems everything is cool now.

Well, that’s good and that is your comedy news for today. If you enjoy the show, please tell a friend about it. If you would like the program without commercial interruption, you know, for five bucks a month you can get this one, five good news Stories, which I also host, and a bunch of others on the network. • Conan O’Brien’s parents’ deaths and hosting the Oscars during LA fires
  • Kathy Griffin confrontation with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show

Questions Answered in This Episode

Did Theo Von get arrested for the Nashville bar incident?

No. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department investigated the May 2nd altercation at the Twelve Thirty Club, but the District Attorney’s office determined there would be no action taken on the misdemeanor assault complaint.

What is Kanye West’s new controversial song called?

The song’s title is a salutation used to greet a major World War II villain, referencing a historical figure with a mustache. Johnny Mac was cautious about stating it explicitly due to platform content policies.

What does Joe Rogan think about banning Kanye’s song?

Rogan argues against banning the song, believing that letting people say what they want is better than censoring content, as bans can actually give controversial material more influence and attention.

When did Conan O’Brien’s parents die?

Conan’s father passed away, followed by his mother three days later. The deaths occurred while Conan was preparing to host the Oscars and during the Los Angeles fires evacuation.

Why did Kathy Griffin confront Stephen Colbert on The Late Show?

Kathy claims a segment producer agreed not to discuss the controversial Trump photograph incident, but Colbert went back on that agreement and pressed her on the topic, causing her to become emotional during the interview.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I am Johnnie Mack and my dog seems to be co hosting. Today. We have two day’s Daily Comedy News. Some housekeeping before I begin.

As I’ve mentioned on the last few episodes, my son graduated from college on Friday. So I’m actually recording this Thursday around lunchtime. And I’m sharing that because I feel like some of the stories may have modified between then and now. Is I just want to get in front of that because I tape this on Thursday. I haven’t seen Saturday Night Live yet.

I’ll talk about that on tomorrow’s episode. And boy, I gotta tell you, I’ve been thinking a lot about the late night stuff and there’s been a bunch of conan articles. I shared those in the Facebook group Daily Comedy News podcast Group. I have some thoughts about late night Mount Rushmore. I’ve been thinking about this a lot.

I can’t wait to record all this stuff. I just don’t have time because of the graduation. So here’s Monday’s episode. And as I record this. On Thursday, TMZ was reporting theo Vaughn caught on camera grabbing the throat of a man at a Nashville bar.

As the story goes. Footage obtained by TMZ last Wednesday shows THEO Vaughn at the twelve thirty Club on May second, arguing with a man holding a bouquet of birthday balloons. The video apparently shows THEO Vaughn thrusting the man away before the video cuts to Theovon shoving the man by the throat. It’s unclear if the two shoves were from different vantage points whether Von shoved the man twice. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department confirmed the incident to the New York Daily News and identified the man.

Two days after the altercation, officers were sent to the apartment of the man, whose quote allegation of misdemeanor assault by mister Vaughan was investigated and staffed with the District Attorney’s office, which determined there will be no action taken concerning the complaint. Police did not say what led to the altercation. Sources told TMZ that the man at his group had been repeatedly harassed Vaughan and using threatening language again. And I want to be crystal clear, I’m recording this on Thursday, and I’ll have any updates if any, on tomorrow’s podcast.

Also breaking as I record this.

On Thursday, Media I picked up on a conversation Rogan had with Tom Segura. As they report it, Rogan argued against banning Kanye West’s new song. Now, I have to be careful here because I don’t want to get kicked off the platforms that I’m on. But if you google Kanye West’s new song, the title is a salutation you would say to the greatest of all World War two villains. Okay, so we know who we’re talking about, the guy with a mustache, that guy, and there was a way you would greet him.

That’s the name of the song, Rogan said, first of all, kind of catchy. Segura said, what’s the problem with it? The guy from production has never lost a step? You know what. Let me actually pull the audio here.

Okay, I’ve got the audio here. I’ve made a couple edits for swear words, but I’ve left the integrity of the comment in place. So I think if you hear Sigora and Rogan’s tune, the headline is a little alarmist. But let’s listen to a clip from the Joe Rogan experience. Bro what is what?

Here’s the thing? What? Well, that’s the problem with it, that’s the problem. It’s like the guy from production like he’s never lost a step. He can make a beat, he can like he’s so talented.

He’s a genius. He’s a talented producer. Man. I do think it’s like when, first of all, I think people are kind of done asking him questions because most it puts out is like self released kind of commentary or thoughts because he’s saying just crazy, you know, it’s the craziest thing. But there is a thing where that song is like what what are you doing, dude?

Like, what are you doing for ultimate pushing back? Yeah, I guess, but there is like, like, I I think I have a pretty you know, let things go kind of vibe to me obviously, Joe, Yeah, that shows ridiculous. It’s ridiculous show. And I’ve always been like, yes, say whatever you’re gonna say. But I do think, like making a catchy song about that, I’m like, what are you doing?

Man? So Garo goes on to say, is that cool to do? I guess if you’re like, well, it’s fun totrol the masses. What I’m saying like, at a minimum, you’re going to get less educated people to go, that’s a fun thing to say, and you’re like, is that good. Rogan made clear that he does not support anti semitism or racism, but then argue that banning Kanye’s song may give it more influence.

Rogan argues, there’s a benefit to just letting people talk. Let people say whatever the bleep they want to say, even if it sucks. This is the benefit of Twitter. But it’s also the bad part. It’s like, the Bleeping song has so many millions of hits on Twitter.

It’s been banned on every platform. But is it good to ban things from platform or is it better to let it be out there and let people talk about it. God On O’Brien had a lengthy interview with The Today’s Show. They’ve released the ninety minute version. I did share that in the Facebook group Daily Comedy News Podcast group.

I’ll pick of that over the next few days. One of the things Kina talked about was learning of the death of his parents. Conan said, I was in Austria when my brother Luke called me and said Dad passed and rushed back to Boston and there his mother was not doing well. Conan said, and I could tell that she was going which was surreal, and she passed within three days of my dad passing, and the funeral became a double funeral and the scramble to get that together and all the emotions that come with it. During this time, he was getting ready to host the Oscars.

Conan explains, the minute Christmas was over, I was like, Okay, you just have to get to work on the Oscars because there’s not much time. Then the fire’s hit and we were evacuated and we were living in a hotel. He found solace in his work, explaining it’s healing to be in a room with really funny people that no one care about me, and to be working on something that we’re trying to make that positive and life affirming and silly. Of his parents, he said they were very proud Kathy Griffin, who’s one of those personalities that like, every time her name comes up, there’s always like strife. Oh, it’s never Oh, Kathy Griffin had a nice day and pet some puppies.

There’s always something. She was on a YouTube show, Talk Your Head Off and called Stephen Colbert a D word, the one for genitalia. That one. We try and keep it clean here at Daily Comedy News. This all gets back to Kathy Griffin and the thing with the really famous politician that prompted the Secret Service to investigate Kathy Griffin.

Remember all that, Yeah, So, as Kathy tells it, a segment producer from The Late Show agreed that they wouldn’t talk about the picture. However, according to Kathy, the producer went back on his word when she arrived at the set of Colbert and told her Colbert wants to talk about the picture. Kathy recalls being distraught and nervous. She was just hoping to promote her performance at Carnegie Hall. She says, she told the producer, if you get down the road of talking about the picture and get really dark and the details from the fallout from the picture of dark as well.

Colbert knows that picture was covered, and he knows my investigation was bs and he makes fun of Donald Trump, and we all know Trump is nothing but a clown. So I think we’re like minded on this. He goes in and about the Trump picture, but he goes in hard. He went in with the line of questioning of the what were you thinking and that you must have known it was too far and that sort of thing was a line of questioning. I remember thinking, Wow, he has way more of a buys against me and my right to take that photo that I imagined in my worst case scenario.

Cathy claims that Colbert kept going and going about the topic, and then the tears came. I felt my eyes fill up, and I thought, oh God, no, anything but this. Anything but you’re a grown woman who’s a female comedian trying to prove you can keep up with the boys who cannot cry. I’m glad to say, not one tier escape my tear, duck. So I did not cry.

I did not have a tier that was visible to the audience. I don’t think the audience could tell that my eyes filled up. I do think Stephen could tell. Didn’t stop him. I do not feel he had any empathy, but I did feel he had an understanding of what was happening, and that’s what made it worse.

And I remember thinking, you asked him to be on the show. I’m a guest, this is your show, this is your world. This is fascinating because I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad word about Stephen Colbert. I’m not at all surprised that Colbert would want to bring the topic up if you’re going to book Kathy Griffin, Hey, Kathy, so you’re playing Carnegie Hall. Yeah, I am.

It’s gonna be a great show. Sure, what do you think is going to happen? Cathy said, I have such a low opinion of Stephen Colbert. Now he’s not gonna hear it, but if he does, he’ll probably is shoot one of those statements saying I made the whole thing up and then I’m irrelevant, and then he didn’t know I was crying. No, I recorded this four days ago.

I don’t see Stephen Colbert putting out a statement in saying, oh they go the Griffins lie. I don’t see that happening. I’m so used to guys making statements like that about me. It’s ridiculous. Kathy also accused Colbert of punching down.

He’s just accomplished just about everything he can as a comedian, and he’s wildly talented, and he’s obviously very bright. But man, what a D word? What a D word? And to go for me, of all people, just to me, it was so lace with misogyny, but that undercurrent of misogyny where Wo’d probably be shocked to hear that anyone accused him of having announce of misogyny. But I remember thinking he would not talk down to the guys like this.

He just wouldn’t. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him treat any of the guy comics like this. I walked off, and I remember I was about one step away from the desk and the tears came, but I was still smiling and waving, and I could feel coming down my cheeks. The EP executive producer rushed over to me, so that was crying, and I just said, what was that? What was that?

Kathy said? The producer tried to explain Colbert’s questioning. He just couldn’t get over the picture. He just can’t get over it, quoting Kathy here, and I go, what’s for him to get over? I don’t understand.

It wasn’t a picture of his decapitated head, Kathy says. The EP said, Steven’s really Catholic, and I go, what what does that have to do with anything? I was raised Catholic too, And he said, I think it’s just what it is. And I said, okay, I can’t make any sense of that. Kathy has a plea to Stephen Colbert.

I’m just being honest to the best of my recollection. So Stephen Colbert, please don’t be a d word again and sue me. I just wanted to tell the folks the wiles, behind the scenes story of any talk show I’ve ever done, and now you know why I haven’t been on that show since and never will be again. Boy, that’s just a lot. Oh what else gonna tell you about?

I’ve got this millenia article that I shared in the Facebook group Daily comedyws podcast group. But let’s do that one tomorrow. Jordan Klepper, he’s got a special tonight the compactly titled The Daily Show Presents Colan Jordan Lepper, Fingers the Pulse, Colan Maga, Colan the Next Generation. So if you want to watch The Daily Show Presents Jordan Klepper, Fingers the Pulse, Maga the Next Generation, they will dive into the pocket of young voters who turned out for Trump during last year’s election. The half hour special on tonight’s on Comedy Central is Klepper’s Sick, a Daily Show branded special eleven thirty on Comedy Central.

So last week was the NFL schedule reveal. The Kansas City Chiefs grabbed Ben Bailey, you know, the cash Cab guy. The Chiefs had a cab made and blazon with a customed Casey taxi logo on the doors. Chiefs Chief marketing officer Lara Krug said, these viral schedule, these videos have taken on a life of their own. This year, we wanted to do something different and found a formula that works really well.

How do we tap into entertainment and the cultural zeitgeist. The team came up with some ideas and the minute a concept surfaced around cash Cab, we saw the potential. It’s such a nostalgic show with huge fans behind it. We thought what if we were able to bring it back and recreate it. I mean nothing against cash Cab, but is there really cash Cab nostalgia?

Were the people in the Chiefs Marty group. Yeah, we gotta get Ben Bailey in a cab, like really and it’s fun at all, but it’s not like the most amazing idea. Krug explained. In order for Chiefs Cab to work, they needed Ben Bailey. She says, there could be no version of this where you didn’t have the original host be part of it.

You think we’re small and mighty in the marketing department. Are you Chiefs been pretty successful last ten years? Don’t You’re in the NFL. You guys have money. Don’t act like you don’t have money.

And I’m just very proud of the team pulling it off. Just’s pressure every year to figure out how to do it and stand out amongst the other thirty one teams. So they get Ben bally three groups compete in a trivia game. The groups featured cornerback Trent McDuffie, former Chiefs quarterback Trent Green, the voice of the Chiefs Mitch Holthis, three cheerleaders, and some social media influencers. Krug says, we try to arrange the passengers almost like puzzle pieces reach of the Riots to have a combination of personality as a current and form of player, true fans of the team, and influencers, some of whom have international appeal.

So it adds a sense of authenticity and goes a long way. Yeah, nothing more authentic than having a bunch of social media influencers in a cash cab with a Chiefs logo. That’s very authentic. Ben Bailey tells the Hollywood Reporter, I couldn’t believe it. It’s always fun to do something like this, especially for a big schedule reveal, as if he does schedule reveals all the time.

I’m happy to be here and it’s been really fun. He describes himself as a big football fan. Could Cash Cab come back? Bailey says, the fact that it’s still relevant now and people want to see it and they’re still thinking about it, it could come back. He did once.

You never Know reboots turned into a phenomenon. Everybody to look through the old shows considering what to bring back. Who knows. All right, I have to go shower and put on adult clothes for this whole graduation thing. But let me leave you with this from bgr dot com.

You know the Tom Sagora series on Netflix, Bad Thoughts, the one that’s hilarious. They didn’t like it, They wrote, aware of this Netflix dud that’s climbing the charts, the weirdest limited series I’ve ever seen, Andy Meek writes, Tom Sagora has a lot on his mind, and unfortunately for us, he’s decided to act it all out. Bad Thoughts dot dot is currently number two on Netflix in the US, which proves once again that people will watch literally anything on the streaming Giant. This limited series is part apocalyptic fever dream, part sketch dump, and all kinds of WTF. Yes, that is why it’s fun.

That’s why it’s hilarious, Andy Meek from bgr dot com. So, what’s Bad Thoughts actually about everything and nothing? One minute, it’s an airplane emergency landing. The next hits the singers off the rail comeback. Yes, it’s the kind of show where the joke is just often how long Sigory can hold a smoke face while something absurd happens behind him.

Yes, it’s mostly chaotic and cringey. Yes it’s hilarious. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has pulled off a rare universally agreed mediocrity, with a sixty percent critic score at a fifty five percent audience score. Bad Thoughts has united everyone in a giant shrug. One user on x summed it up perfectly, this is the weirdest limited series I’ve ever seen.

Another asked who greenlit this. Perhaps the most brutal review came from the Rotten Tomatoes user, who declared that Sigora Here Showcases is true to stain for the audience with juvenile jokes reminiscent of a thirteen year old who drank too much mountain dew. I currently have it as the number two thing of the year. That’s your comedy news for today. Hopefully there’s not too much dust on those stories.

I’ll say for the ninety fifth time. I recorded this on Thursday. Back tomorrow more or less live, see you then,

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. As I mentioned a few times, I want to take the weekend off. It was my son graduated from college. I didn’t want to be sitting there on Friday at four in the morning recording a bunch of episodes before I headed out.

A Rolling Stone caught up with John Mulaney. This is lengthy here. Apparently Mullaney first broke down the Rock Hall of Fame inductees and snubs with Rolling Stone in twenty eighteen. The plan was for it to be an annual tradition, Laney said govid and some personal problems got in the way, but he’s ready to recommit and says I’ll make this an annual thing now. Mullaney started off with some advice when you’re in your twenties, take as many photos of yourself as possible.

You’re so good looking. The topic of chubby Chicker, Rolling Stone asked Mullaney, does he have any experience with the twister Let’s Twist Again? Malaney said, well, I really appreciate Let’s twist again like we did last summer. It’s a funny lyric for a reboot I really like the bald faces of Let’s Twist Again like we did last summer, saying, remember we did the song the Twists last year, we’re doing it again.

And also, I think Let’s Twist Again is a better song than the Twist.

I don’t think I’m alone in that. Sorry, didn’t meaning make it sound like such a novel ideas. Chuppy Chick are still with us. Rolling Stone asked John, is there a group that you don’t care about that you want to see in the Hall of Fame? He said, okay, I mean a lot are in already helped me think a little.

Buttole Surfers, Flaming Lips, they’re not in right Stone, No, they’re not. Olney talked about Phish. This was hugely important music to us. It really kept bands alive. Dad, you have a band in nineteen ninety nine playing guitars, piano and Drum’s was not easy to find.

Funny exchange here, John, I have no opinion on the Black Crows being diplomatic. No, I genuinely have no opinion. So if that’s the pull quote, we’ve got a viral story. In twenty eighteen, John said that the Hall had an anti Chicago Bias. O’Laney said, a lot of things I said in twenty eighteen could be buffeted with, but in reality, John’s a little off.

I like that. They don’t say, well, John’s just misguided and might be on speed. They’re like, is there some truth? We won’t say no? All right?

Moving on. Tonight is the twelfth annual Patrise O’Neill Comedy Benefit Concert, Rosebud Baker, greer Bourne’s DC, Benny Bill Birds Him Dylan to Mesh Patel, Sean Patten, and Rich Voss. Pretty good lineup. That’s at New York City Center at seven point thirty. I’ve told the story in the past.

I’m not gonna be shy. Never ever once enjoyed an encounter with Patrise O’Neil. He just had this thing of like he would just come at you for no reason, just to see how you were to react. And like, dude, this is a professional workspace. We’re at a comedy festival.

You know, we’re trying to do interviews. Don’t do your stupid thing. Go away. So personally, Patrise O’Neil’s comedy funny. Patrise O’Neil, the dude, I know the comedians revere him, love him, never enjoyed my time with him.

That said, let’s raise some money tonight with a good lineup. Dylan from the Facebook group which is Daily Comedy News Podcast group share this one with me from crack Nora Dunn. Remember when Nora Dunn was on SNL. Well back on May twelfth, nineteen ninety Andrew Dice Clay hosted SNL. He was quite controversial back in that time.

Nora Dunn refused to participate in the show. That week, SNL doubled down. They kept Dice and made repeated jokes about Nora Dunn. Cracked assd You’d been on the show for five years at that point, did you plan on coming back the next year? Nora said, I actually wasn’t coming back after my five years, but the reason was only because I didn’t want to do any more sketches.

I didn’t have any more sketches. I was really anxious to move on. A lot of what I call kids were coming in. I thought, boy, this humor is now bending towards twelve year old boys. She’s referencing Adam Sandler.

There, Nora Dunn and I could be friends. She says of Sandler, a great guy. But I have to tell you, when I saw him on the show playing that thing, I was like time to leave anyway. So Dice is gonna host the show, Nora tells Al Franken, I ain’t doing the show. I’m not coming in.

I called several other cast members and said, you know that Andrew Dice Clay’s doing the show, and They’re like no. Some were saying, well, I’m not to perform with him, and I won’t write for him, and I said, well, I’m not going to work with him. That’s how the word got out to NBC. It must have been Monday morning. I got a call from the AP.

He told me S and L was posting a piece on me that said my contract wasn’t going to be renewed. Cracked. Who did you voice your objections to that you weren’t going to do the show? Just Al Franken, Norah, Yeah, just Al Franken. I called Lauren on Monday morning, too, but I believe he was at a funeral.

He didn’t return my call. Franken wasn’t surprised. He actually asked Lauren that week not to have him on the show. He said, it’s a mistake. He’s divisive and people are going to turn against us if you have him on the show.

But Lauren said he was an interesting phenomenon worth examining. Nora said, well, I was Hitler. I’ve been examining him for years. That doesn’t mean I accept him. I know.

He says he was doing a parody, but the laughs are coming because they love the character and they agree with that character. He was Andrew Dice Clay, he was billed as him, he’s came out as him. Cracked, why do you think Lauren went forward with him as the host? Nora, I don’t know. I think he didn’t want admit he was wrong.

I think he was very, very upset the way I did it, which he calls bad form. But he did call him and he did know, and I didn’t think that anyone would notice. Crack said, how come you never objected to someone like Sam Kennison? Nora. I love Sam.

He was a smart comic. I got along with him very well. I’d seen him in clubs and he wasn’t hateful. Most of his jokes turned on himself. Dice was so hateful.

He’s whipping people up by saying things. Even Johnny Mac doesn’t want to repeat thirty years later. I’ll paraphrase jokes about aids. I’ll leave it there. People would pound their tables.

One of the good pieces I read on Dice was saying, if you listen to a show, people aren’t laughing, they’re pounding on the tables. They’re expressing anger. That’s what they’re angry about. Interesting to change here. Have you spoken to Lauren about any of this?

No, he never spoke to me again. He did hire me to do some things. He was the producer on a Seth Rogan movie and I got worded that Lauren wants you to do it, but he only wants to pay you twenty five hundred dollars and for the size of the role, it should have been like twenty five grand. I did it, but it was one of those things that his little message, you’re going to come and work for me for scale. I also noticed in the credits that I was put last after every character that could have been a walk on, and I had a pretty long scene too.

That’s the kind of thing I suspect. Laura of Wow I was seated at the fiftieth Aniverse in the last row of the studio. I wasn’t asked to be in anything, and in the montage of the year that I was on, I wasn’t in it at all, and I shouldn’t be saying this. I went on the floor afterwards. I ended up standing next to Marty Short watching Paul McCartney sing, and when we finished, we looked at each other and we had tears in our eyes.

Then I turned and there’s Lorne standing there. I hadn’t talked to him in years. I went up and I said, Lorne Michaels and hugged him fifty years. Good work. He just said yeah and walked away, and I went, now that’s a petty man.

Wow. The only times caught up with Eliza Slessinger, they were curious how she reaches different age audiences. Eliza said, I’m always developing jokes for me, and I’m mindful of who might be in the audience. But I’m very lucky that I don’t have a homogeneous audience. I think with some comics, you know exactly the archetype of their fans.

And because I’m fortunate enough to be able to play audiences across the country, you don’t really know who you’re gonna get. You can kind of guess, but we have everyone from conservative veterans to a super queer contingent to people who just look like your parents gen Z. So it’s always about the truth, and it’s always about saying something honest, because comedy comes from vulnerability and from honesty. I don’t hate gen Z or baby boomers. Comedy comes from a place of very much wanting to be seen and explain myself.

I don’t ever write anything to hurt anyone deliberately, and so all my comedy comes from this unending need to understand what the bleep is going on. I think we make the mistake of thinking that if it’s pro female, it has to be anti male, and both things can be true. That you’re critiquing something without aiming to harm and also wanting women to feel a little bit better. One of the comments that I sadly still get is women will come up to me and they’ll say that was my first stand up show, and I’ll be like, yep, that’s right, because your boyfriend probably only showed you his favorite male comics, so you thought comedy wasn’t for you. I’m not the only woman he does stand up.

Thankfully, there’s so many more now that when I started. So everybody can find something for them. But I think there’s a way to bring men in. I call it digestible feminism, bring men in a way. So you just present the facts.

You make everyone laugh, but you’re saying something that women in the audience can vibrate with, and men, if you don’t hate women, will be like, hey, that’s a good thought. Nobody buys a ticket to a comedy show to hear why their politics are wrong, while their gender is wrong, while their colors wrong. And so I try to keep it all social and light and just hate you with skating hot facts that are irrefutable wrapped in comedy so you can digest it and talk about it on your drive home to lacrescenta later. And that is your comedy news for today. If you enjoy the program, tell a friend about it too.

If you’ve discovered this thing on YouTube, Hey, I’m an old guy in a basement doing an mostly audio podcast. So hook me up, bring the bell and like and follow and whatever you’re supposed to do on YouTube. Just do that. Hook the old guy up. Okay, see you guys tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Johnny Mac and tonight is the season finale of Saturday Night Live’s fiftieth season. As I’ve talked about on the podcast before, I think if you’re gonna get out, this is the time to get out. I think season fifty one, well, it’ll clearly lack the buzz and I think it’s gonna be a rebuilding year, so it could be time to get out. Deadline took a list at who is rumored to perhaps, possibly maybe be leaving.

They started with Michael Chay, who every year says he’s leaving, but in February, while performing at the University of Rochester, Chase said, this is my last season. I’m not coming back. Don’t or I’m done. It’s over for me. It’s been so much fun.

It’s a little emotional. It’s bittersweet, cause, like I said, he says that every year, but this year there were rumors that Colin Jost is going to leave. Tonight’s guest host is Scarlett Johansson, married to Colin Jost but also starring in an upcoming Jurassic movie, so it’s not absurd that she’s hosting. But some are taking Scarlett’s participation tonight as a clue. Jose and Chay are currently fourth and fifth most tenured on SNL, behind Seth Meyers three, Darryl Hammond two, and Keenan Thompson.

Deadline points out if the news desk is thinking of leaving now, is a pretty good time before the country starts talking about the twenty twenty six midterms or the twenty eight presidential election. It was also a little rumor a couple weeks back that Colin’s doing such a good host as pop Culture Jeopardy that they’re considering him for regular Jeopardy, which is a great gig if you can get it, and at Colin’s age, you could do it for thirty years. Look at Drew Carrey, who’s already been hosting Prices Right for I think it’s like fifteen years already. By the way, sidebar I want to get my oil change. Jiffy leeu B always has Game Show Network on, and they were showing a Bob Barker era Price is Right, and Bob Barker still had the dark hair.

Price Is Right is a lot harder when you go back in time and you’re like, you have to figure out first of all, what year is this?

And then when they ask you how much things cost a new car, I don’t know.

Eighty three hundred dollars. Sure. Mikey Day was asked by Deadline if he would return and said, who knows what the future will bring. Or Heidi Gardner, who’s been on the show for eight seasons. Gardner has admitted in some interviews that things have gotten a little tough trying to come up with sketches.

She told Craig Ferguson, I will say the only thing that I’ve started to feel a little bit is just sketch fatigue or idea fatigue. At this point, after doing Groundlings and SNL for so long, I’m like I’ve written a lot of sketches. Ego Nuotam is wrapping up her seventh season on the show. She told Deadline, We’d like to keep things mysterious around here. That’s part of the allure of SNL.

We don’t know what’s going to happen week to week, let alone in the fall, so who knows. Chloe Fineman finishing up her sixth season, and then Bow and Yang, who he gave an interview recently and said he wasn’t leaving, but everything about his behavior suggests that he’s leaving. He had told people, especially after the fiftieth, them seeing what life after the show is like and how beautiful it is, and how so many people in the matter how long they were at the show or just with their families and loving their lives and not letting the years take away any of that experience for them.

And then with SNL, new people come in, you have to sort of make way for them …

That inevitably requires me to sort of hang it up at some point, but I don’t know what the vision is yet. He then backpedaled on that a couple of weeks later and was like, Nope, I’m not leaving. If Josetin Chay Doot leave, if a speculation is Michael Longfellow will replace them as one of the anchors, I could also see Sarah Sherman at the desk, and we’re going to talk about that in a second. My guess mass exodus, Joe Chay, Bowen Yang and the other people I mentioned, I think they’re all gone, and Season fifty one is going to be a rebuild built around Sarah Sherman. And Marcelo Hernandez, who people seem to like, and I think he does one thing really well and has done it in five different characters that are all the same thing to me.

But we’ll see. Sarah Sherman had that big profile and Vanity Fair earlier in the week. I had shared it in the Facebook group, which is Daily Comedy News podcast group. Sarah talked about the schedule writing night. It was Tuesday night, so I stayed up until six am writing yesterday was table read.

Then you get to work at one pm, and then you get home at eleven or so and by the end of the season, my body shuts down. It’s like yelp. I’m used to it for being in stand up. I’m a nighttime person. I feel like every season has gotten more and more busy.

Last season, I was being used as a straight man a lot, which has increased more this season, which is really fun because you feel like the writers trust you to deliver a joke concept. Even though the wilder character slots take enormous swings and there’s a lot of crazy stuff that happens, there’s something so fun about a straight man because sometimes the crazy stuff doesn’t work unless there is someone immediately grounding it. Another interesting mark I’ve had over the season is I’ve done a bunch of updates that have come about last minute, where they’ve been written off writing schedule or thrown into writing characters that weren’t my own original idea. So I’ve been flexing a lot of writing muscles too, which is new for me. They were like, can you play the squirrel?

And I’m like, all right, I have to play a squirrel. Can I write this in a way that’s fun for me that’s also still the squirrel. I came into the show as if everyone’s like, she’s crazy, and I did this crazy stuff. Crazy doesn’t go that long of a way. The show’s an hour and a half.

It can’t be crazy the whole time. So the show has supported me to move to places that make me understand comedy better. Even in my own stand up. My show’s an hour and a half. It’s playing with texture and pacing and bigness and smallness, and this show’s taught me just how it works.

It can’t be screaming the whole time, which is something I wouldn’t have learned from the show. On to weekend update, the recurring bit where she roast Colin Josts. She says, if I didn’t find fun, I wouldn’t keep doing it. I bet we’ll get one tonight. At first, it started out as just me, and then we kept it fresh by evolving and having it to be different characters.

That’s how I was able to train myself to play characters too, because sketch comedy was so new to me. How did this start? It was all Colin’s fault. When I first joined the show, I’d written a bunch of things down for table read. He told me you should come on weekend updates yourself, and I was like, oh, that’s so presumptuous.

It felt even funnier after him being so kind, like, hey, I want to give you an opportunity to try being on the show for once. To repay him by making fun of him for living in the Hamptons. I called him a groomer or something. But the only reason it’s fun is because he’s sitting there laughing. All right, the big question, would you ever consider doing update as host?

Of course I would love to hear. Are you kidding me? I’m obsessed with Norm MacDonald? But that’s the thing to think for even one second. I can do what Norm McDonald did.

What am I insane? All right? I had saved this one so that I could pre tape today. My son graduated from college yesterday, so I didn’t want to be recording a podcast at four in the morning. From MSN dot com, The Best Comedians in History, a thirty two page slide show.

Let’s see who they’ve got on the list. Leslie Nielsen, Okay, interesting choice. We all like police Squad, we all like the Naked Gun, we all like airplane. Interesting in stake starts on this list, all right, Leslie Nielsen is, of course, at one of MSN’s best comedians in History, Mort Saul before my time. I don’t have anything to say about Mort.

Definitely a name that I know. Ricky Gervais, obviously The Office is his masterpiece. You know, nice stand up? Sure, okay, Steve Colbert, they write David Letterman’s replacement on The Late Show proved to be as hilarious and intellectual as his legendary predecessor. I’m not feeling it in the pop culture.

I haven’t watched any I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode of Late Show with Colbert. I’ve seen clips, but i’ve never sat down to watch an episode to compare him to Letterman. It’s hard for me to accept that, but okay, and we got an ad from Mattress Charlie Chaplin, believe it or not before my time, but sure, who doesn’t know Charlie Chaplin. I won’t push back on that one. Rowan Atkinson, mister Bean.

Interesting choice. Eddie Murphy. They’re mainly focusing on his movie comedies here. He’s got quite the list of movie comedies. As I’ve pointed out, someone my age really likes Eddie Murphy from his time on SNL and Ron Delirious, and as I got older and educated myself more in comedy, I realized that his stand up was a pure cover band version of Richard Pryor.

But Eddie Murphy, sure, I hope. I hope Richard Pryor’s on this list at some point. Another ad Jerry lew Us for his time in Martin Lewis and also his movies. Roberto Gomez Bolognos one of the biggest names on the Mexican comedy scene. I’m not familiar with.

Roberto Roberto Gomes Bologos, better known as Chessperito or Little Shakespeare, was a Mexican actor, comedian, writer, producer, director and author. Hey, I like somebody put some effort into this list. Jerry Seinfeld, they write this is an indisputable choice, obviously the sitcom. You know. I got into Seinfeld when he would appear on Letterman in the eighties.

I’ve been to big time comedy festivals where you’re seeing everybody and seeing Jerry. At a comedy festival, and Jerry is at the top, I won’t argue with you. There now an add for teeth implants, a slide show. I can’t believe this. Peter Sellers.

I’m a fan of Peter Sellers. I like this list. Somebody puts some effort into this list. Any such list, we can nitpick left and right, but you know this is good. Jim Carrey not really my cup of tea, but they’re citing ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, Cable Guy, Lira, Liar Me and Myself, Irene Bruce, Almighty and more are also his work on in Living Color Again, I wouldn’t arm Rescue over this.

Laurel and Hardy before my time. You know, when I was a kid, maybe you’d see them on Channel eleven on the Weekend, but I never really have consumed any Laurel and Hardy. But again, won’t arm wrestle you, Lucille Ball, of course, the Marx Brothers. Same note, a little before my time, Jimmy Carr. If you listen, you know I’m a huge fan of Jimmy Carr.

But okay, another ad, Mario Moreno conting Floss. I am familiar with kantin Floss because there was a theater in my neighborhood growing up that would show his films. I never saw any of them, but I know who he is. The cast of Monty Python. Okay, so we just threw in six guys, all right, sure I love Monty Python.

Ellen Degenerous, Yeah, Ellen Degenerous is on this list best comedians of all time. Okay, another ad. Jimmy fallon This list just got really weird. I’ve spoken about found a few times this week. Immensely talented.

I think he dumbs down his talent to host the Tonight Show and the way they want the Tonight Show hosted. But you know, we haven’t said the word like Carlin yet, or you know a lot of names we haven’t said yet. Jimmy Fallon on the list of the best comedians of all time, The Three Stooges. Sure, Melissa McCarthy. The reason given the actress is a comedy staple, both in TV and on the big screen.

Another ad, Abin Costello, Amy Schumer makes the list. Amy Schumer. We’re going with Amy Schumer, one of the best comedians of all time. Alan Carr, the British comedian, is also one of the biggest in the game. He started as a stand up back, but he also moved on to television.

How long is this list? Another ad Kevin Hart, okay fine, Dave Chappelle, here we go, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, James Cordon, and then the list ended. I don’t know if I can just go to bed with that list. I’m gonna ask CHATCHI to make a list. I have typed in best Comedians of all time Top twenty.

See what the AI says. I like the AI’s list a lot. You’re ready, you’ll know all these names. I want to explain them to you. Prior Carlyn Murphy, Chappelle, Robin Joan, Chris Rock, Lenny Bruce at eight Hicks, Lucy John Clees, Steve Martin, Billy Connolly, Chris Farley, Steinfeld at fifteen, Ck Hebberg, Phyllis Diller, Tina Fey, Amy Schumer.

The AI says this list is by no means definitive, as comedy is subjective. But these names represent some of the greatest ever do it. Each one brought something unique to the table. Well, looks at Betty. Sorry, I’m sorry.

Just watch Live of the Sunset strip where Richard Pryor is telling jokes and doing voices while wearing a red outfit. Just watch that, and then watch Eddie Murphy’s comedy and tell me I’m wrong. All Right, I’m shutting up. See you tomorrow,

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Johnnie Mac with your Daily Comedy News. My son graduates college today, So both today and tomorrow are pre tapes that I did about a week ago so that I could be with the family today. I’m sure you can understand. Bill Burr spoke to The New Yorker.

Bill said, there was a thing for a while while we’re holding comedians accountable for what they were saying, like we were these wizards like would go on stage and say something, and then suddenly people thought that and then meanwhile corporate America could be as effed up as they want to be. Then Burr asked the interviewer, are you homophobic? The interviewer said no. Burr said, all right, what joke can I tell that would make you homophobic? Is there a joke?

How does that joke go? The New Yorker said, I mean, I agree with that up to a point. But I just wrote this piece about how parasocial relationships. Burr cuts in the article says, with visceral disdain parasocial relationships. Who’s going to say that now?

Is that a same term parasocial? That sounds like some bs to censor comedian and blame the ills of society on a comedian rather than the people that are actually making the efing laws. I’m not running into a box store, I’m not hiring people. I’m not trying to poison the fing a food supply New Yorker. As a journalist, if I say I just wrote a bunch of stuff down and you don’t have to listen to me, that wouldn’t fly.

I have to take responsibility for what I’m saying. Bur. Journalism is not stand up comedy. We’re not in the same world, New Yorker. So what do you think your responsibility is?

Bur? My responsibility is to make you laugh. And if I’m being malicious, people know. People know if you mean it or not. So what people did you?

People? You journalists for a while, they’re not even because you gave an f just because it was a hot story. All of a sudden, you’d finish your act and somebody’d be like, I want to talk about some of the statements you made, statements I was up there telling jokes, or it continues. I’ve had people who have said fed up stuff about me on the internet and then they come up to me and they’re like, Hey, Bill, how’s your family, and I want to be like, you don’t give an f about my family, but I can’t because they’re a white woman, and I can’t say anything. Oh my god, when a white woman complains, people listen.

So I’m just cordial and those are liberals, dude and burst? Are we only going to talk about this because I don’t want to be this like political ideology. Guy Bert was there to talk about Glengarry Glenn Ross. Really good piece in the New Yorker. It’s behind a paywall, but if you’re good at the Internet, you can figure it out.

Nate PERGATSI, you talked to USA Today last week. They described the scene as Nate is at the fundraiser for the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. Nate gets up. He jokes he has a sustain for reading because every book is just the most words. We’re told he’s wearing a black tracksuit on zip to reveal a casual white T shirt and sneakers, and he opens up with I didn’t know you all wore suits.

My business casual is different than your business casual. It’s the most ties I’ve ever seen in my life. That’s a good way to warm up the crowd. I like it, He apologizes to the attendants. Reading is a hard thing.

I really want to do it. I love the idea of it. He talked about his new book and said, We’re not a book that’s better than anybody. We’re just one that sits there and it’s a fun read.

And then after us you go back to the books that they are actually going to le…

Nate looked back on the days of starting out and said, started in New York, I’d stand on the corner handing out flyers, and I would get stage time if you could bring people into the show. Yeah, if you’ve ever been to New York City, I feel bad for those people doing that. You see them all the time in the Times Square area. It is awful, and Nate said, I didn’t imagine it to be the level that it’s gotten, meaning his career being really huge, specifically playing in front of nineteen thousand people at the Bridgetone Arena. It’s kind of weird because you hit a moment with this thing that’s been driving me for twenty years, and I’ve got to think about what the next thing’s going to drive you.

That’s where the Nate Land Company and all the other stuff came in. As he said in a few other interviews, he thought about, you know, maybe not being a clean stand up. There were times and you’d feel like, all right, if I went another route, maybe I’d get to jump up. But fortunately I always tell myself, no, stay the course and just trust that it’s going to work out.

And then he once again in this interview, floated that he’s going to do two m…

Osco at Costco is part of a New York Times series where Asian American comedians talked about people they really dug Osco talked about Tignatour and said she’s a friend now, but before that it was a comedy idol of mine. She directed my first HBO specialty Intruder. She’s unapologetically herself as a comedian in person, an artist super deadpan, and her joke no Moleste plays on linguistics and uses that as tangient Osco explains, a lot of Americans only know one language, English, so the idea of hearing the word moleste is like, oh, it sounds like something that would have a negative connotation. She does the classic if this then what set up in stand up comedy? That structure only works when you continue building out the bigger picture and go further, and she does that really well.

I think about that joke a lot because it’s so simple. It’s not over explaining a situation. It’s trusting that all humans communicate similarly, and then we all have the ability to see of the absurd in situations. That’s what I love about it. She plays at the height of people’s intelligence.

Moa. Mayer spoke to The Houston Chronicle about coming to the States and said, there is an adjustment period. You can’t just land and feel at home right away, a massive adjustment to the geography, the buildings, the people, everything. I landed here a few days before Halloween. I didn’t even know what the hell Halloween was.

Then two days later everyone’s naked and crazy and there’s blood everywhere. Is beyond shocking and terrifying. It was a lot emotionally. I didn’t have my mom or dad with me. It was just my sister and my brother.

Was really tough for a while. Where a parent’s going to be okay. I left right before the oil fields were set ablaze. They wanted to protect me and get me out of there, but I almost wished I didn’t leave. I wanted to stay with my mother and help as much as possible.

Zarna garg I told a story on Fox News is Brian kill MEA’s show about how her father had set her up for an arranged marriage, and at fourteen years old, Zarna made the decision, no, Zarn, it’s old, Brian. My dad was like, listen, if you don’t want to get married, you can’t live here. He thought he would scare me to submission. And I thought he’d come around. I thought he’s riddled with grief because his wife just died, my mom, and then he’s going to come around.

This is all going to be okay. We’re basically in a face off. She wound up couch surfing for two years. I showed up on my friend’s house and after day and my friend’s mom was like, you should go back. And that’s when it hit me like, oh my god, I have nowhere to go, and was almost two years of where can I go?

Tonight. Zarna says her father was coming from a good place. I know it feels shocking here in America, but what he remembers is that I walked away from a guaranteed life that he was going to set up for me. He wasn’t a bad guy, to be clear, he wasn’t. He came from a good place.

I have three siblings who were arranged. My sister was arranged and is deliriously happy and successful. TJ. Miller is really into bitcoin. He says, eventually there will be a movie about the bitcoin revolution, and it will be interesting because the revolution didn’t happen all at once.

According to TJ, it takes only a little over two full days to get the average person up to speed on bitcoin. He was asked why more celebrities aren’t bitcoiners. DJ says most people refuse to sit down and study. Again. He was on Coin Stories and told host Natalie Brunell it’s really hard to get people to study after they graduate from any level.

According to TJ, it will take you about fifty hours of study to truly understand bitcoin. So by two days, he means two full days. See, I thought he meant, like, you know, two days in a row, No fifty hours. So to say somebody, it’s going to take fifty hours feet to understand this, They’re like, I don’t want to. They can’t even watch a netfl series, they can’t even watch White Lotus because it takes seven hours.

Miller introduces himself as the only celebrity that is a bitcoiner. I can’t really think of anyone else you can tell, and I’m passionate about it. So what I’d like to be able to do is be somebody that helps bring cultural awareness, spread awareness, and just be a trusting name and face in the bitcoin community that hopefully will bring more people to it. And that is your comedy news for today. To enjoy the program, please tell a friend about it.

They might like it too. If you’re discovering this thing on YouTube, it’s really an audio podcast. I’m just making these things because you know, you gotta but smash the bell and hit the like and all that, and I’ll see you guys tomorrow

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News and Tom Sigora’s Bad Thoughts on Netflix. Wow, just wow? Is that thing funny? And I’ll tell you the Garth Brooks stuff no spoilers.

I could watch him do that Garth Brooks thing for hours and hours. I wish that alone was a series. The show is outrageous with a capital O dirty funny. Uh. The production value is incredible.

It looks like you’re watching a quality film. It is going for it and it is nailing it. This isn’t just some you know, side thing that they threw together. This is great Bad Thoughts Tom Sagora on Netflix. Check that out.

Sagora is also on Rogan. I was listening to it this morning at four twenty am, as I did in an airport run. I am a fan of listening to Rogan in the middle of the night because the volume tends to be very even keeled, no yelling and shouting on Rogan’s podcast. When I’ve insomnia, I turned to that and for the airport run it hit the spots. So Tom Sagora is on Joe Rogan also one hundred percent check out Mark Malkoff’s podcast Inside Late Night.

On the latest episode, he has Bill Carter, you know, the guy that wrote the various books about Late Night, a great discussion. At one point they get into the Jay Leno stuff that I’ve been talking about lately, and uh a short version. They also got into that Jay really doesn’t have a legacy, and if he does have a legacy, it’s tied to Conan. But I’m gonna hold that for Memorial Day weekend because right now it’s been a little busy and you know, remember the comedy dearth Room two weeks ago. So I don’t want to go handing in twenty five minute episodes and then go into Memorial Weekend trying to figure out how it can even fill ten minutes.

I’ll hold off on that, And I’m also holding off on the very good conversation we’re having in the Facebook group Daily Comedy News podcast group about Late Night Mount Rushmore. So I’ll do all that on Memorial Day weekend. All right, Jumping in today, John Mulaney would like weird Al to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I heavily agree with weird how there are three distinct types of weird Al songs. There are the straight up parodies, so instead of beat it, you get to eat it.

We all know about that. There are these style parodies or the pastiche parodies. For example, maybe my favorite weird Al track is called Dogg Eat Dog, which is in the style of Talking Heads, but not a talking Heads direct parody. He’s got a lot of those that are underrated.

And then there are the weird originals, which are humorous songs not based on…

Millennie told Rolling Stone, I’m a big proponent of novelty music. I’m a big proponent of weird Al getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Weird Al brought more people to music than’s recognized at all. Part of Malaney’s argument is Chubby Checker got in the hall, and it’s kind of a novelty act with twist and twist. Again, Millenie argues that this is one step closer.

I will, in fact, greatly devalue my coolness by saying, when I was young, it wasn’t until smells like Nirvana, Defang, smells like teen Spirit that I could enjoy. Smells like teen Spirit scaryt first, and after you laugh at it, smells like Nirvana. You go, oh, this is a really good song. Apparently someone has decided Matt Rife is going to be a movie star. I don’t know if Matt Riife is a good actor or not.

I told you yesterday he’s going to be in a movie. Well, here’s a second. This is a totally different story. Emma Roberts and Matt Rife will star in the romantic comedy Marriage Material from BuzzFeed Studios. That might be a clue here what we’re about to get.

Marriage Material follows the founder of a dating app whose deadbeat husband’s alimony payments are bleeding or dry submission, so she must use it to find him a new wife before her company goes public. Sounds great, Matt Rife. Marriage Material can’t wait. Shane Gillis is extending his tour, adding ten additional US cities. The new dates this summer July off of September.

Tulsa, KC. Louisville, Saint Louis, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee, Houston, Hollywood, Florida, Orlando, Florida. Representatives for Gillis in an announcement said these new shows come in response to a staggering demand for tickets across the USA, Canada, and European dates, adding the Gillis Is set the all time ticket sales record at six arenas, including a one in Toronto and achieving historic sellouts, and eleven more including Phillies Wells Fargo Center, marking each of the venue’s largest comedy shows ever. Go Shane Gillis. I have it in my mind to go see Shane the next time he comes this way.

Jimmy Kimmel was at the ABC Upfronts. He hosts this every year, and did his usual thing. He told the audience of ad buyers. I might not see you again. This could be it.

I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know a lot of you over the last twenty three years, and I know many of you will worry that AI might take your jobs. But I don’t think it will. I don’t believe a computer, even the most powerful computer, will be able to do what you do. And you know why, because no computer wants to do what you do. Your job suck.

Every year, our audiences get smaller, and we tell you it’s bigger and we want more for less. It’s exhausting. I know we’re annoying and unreasonable. You have crappy jobs because of it. But at least you have the crappy jobs.

All those kids we saw graduating this weekend who they might not be able to get their crappy jobs, some of them might have to date Bill Belichick. Kim Will offered the naming rights to his soon to be born grandchild. He took shots at CBS, led by their hit comedy Ghosts, which is also what most of their views will be soon Wow, and NBC talking about their spinoff for cent Nobody even knows how to pronounce it. Versant is a perfect name. It already sounds like something you subscribe to by accident.

Kim All on the state of network TV. He said, usually I come out here to distract you from the fact that we’re dying. But somehow network television like Jesus, has risen again. Of the four major networks NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox, only one of us did not see viewership go year to year. ABC was flat.

I’m not going to tell you which one of us it is because it doesn’t matter. Please don’t ask, Just be happy for us. He commented on NBC’s chairman of Global Advertising, Mark Marshall, who had claimed that NBC has amassed the greatest collection of content that has ever been assembled by one media company. The joke, I guess Mark has never heard of porn hub. He pointed out ABC’s not really making too many news shows.

At least CBS and Fox are making shows. ABC we ordered one new show and it’s a spin off of an old show, which begs the question what are we doing here? We risked our lives flying into Newark Airport for this. I mean, if you went to a restaurant in the waiter set are special tonight is last year’s fish? Would you eat it?

He talked about a recent survey. Deloitte did a survey that show that gen Z and millennial viewers are spending more time on social media than watching TV. Yeah, no, crap, you think we need a survey to know that? F you, Deloitte, And you know what, f those ungrateful gen Z d bags too. Oh you’re too cool for match game?

Well, guess what when you have kids and you need that hit of Mowana to take the little bastards quiet for two hours, you’ll come crawling back to Disney like dogs. He talked about the new ESPN streaming platform, The new service bringing live content to millions of fans around the world. Will go buy the name. Are you ready? ESPN?

And that’s why they call us imagineers. He also got serious and asked the advertising buying public to support CBS’s sixty minutes and said, I know it’s not part of our multiplatform, but sports sixty minutes they deserve it. You have the power because you have the money. Support journalism. It’s important and it doesn’t work without you.

I saw this one on Celebrityaccess dot com. A guy named Bob left Sets apparently really liked Chappelle in concert the other day. Just this was wonderful writing. Let me read it to you, Bob wrote, last week we watched Bill burrs Knew Hulu special. Thinking about it, I felt it was more attitude than jokes.

Bill’s got a persona angry guy removed from everybody else who points out the insanity of life. But Bill puts himself down here and there. Chappelle does not, and Chappelle tells more jokes. But watching him tonight, you realize that the laugh is almost always a throwaway at the end, which made me wonder how much was pure delivery slash timing jokes are one thing, being a comedian is quite another, and a lot of comedians work fast, fearful of dead spot, expressing their anxiety about acceptance. But Chappelle works slowly with complete confidence.

He knows you’re gonna laugh. It’s like an elite sports star saying Steph Curry gives Steph Curry the ball with no one on the court, and he knows he’s gonna sink it. Dave is very real. He hangs with the rich, famous, but he doesn’t evidence airs. You really feel like you’re in his living room listening to him, and it’s not blind listening.

Chappelle makes you think it’s both an amazing and confounding experience because on some levels he’s just telling stories and he’s got his smoking stick for pauses. But then he drops truth proms and you realize this is more than entertainment. I felt like I lived through something. It was a sensation more than laughs. It’s not like I left the building feeling good, rather a bit numb, floating in my own bubble, an elusive feeling that I’d love to experience again.

Kind of like sex. You can’t have it all the time, but you’re always on the lookout for it, and when you can’t get it, it’s often all you can think about. So tonight show is in the ether. There are no recordings. You had to be there, and if you were not, you completely missed out.

Pat Oswald realized he had played in every state except Wyoming and Montana. Well, he is fixing that. Bozman Tonight Casper the next two nights. James Austin Johnson has announced a tour nineteen cities starting May twenty ninth in LA going through late August. It’s the return to Off tour.

One of the shows in Greensboro, North Carolina will be a benefit show. He’ll team up with Andrew ded Smuch’s. They’ll headline a night of stand Up on July seventeenth to raise money for hel It’s a nonprofit that provides direct, no strings attachment money to people in need in the Greensboro area. In the announcement, James said, I’m on tour this summer. There’s nothing you can do about it.

Can’t wait to see you all. The Police don’t destroy Guys or working on a tour documentary slash Special for release this summer. They were the guests on Berbigley A’s Working It Out podcast. The special compiles material from their twenty twenty three summer tour. Ben Marshall told Burbiggs, we filmed a bunch of the shows on the road, we cut them all together.

It’s taken so long. It’s finally going to come out this summer and we’re super pumped about it. They did not announce the distribution on that. People are speculating YouTube, but we will see. Kevin Hart’s always got a business going, here’s a new one.

Ken Griffy Junior, the Baseball Hall of Famer, will co host a new unscripted golf series along with golf caddy turned ESPN analyst Michael Collins. This will be on Kevin Hart’s Heartbeat LOL Network on YouTube. In it, you will see Griffian Collins tee off with celebrity guests. You see what they did there. The celebrity guests include NFL or Ryan Fitzpatrick, some guys from the Mariners, some guys from the Philadelphia Eagles, and others.

And because it’s Kevin Hart, it’s got a title sponsor. But they can pay for their mention. But I’ll throw them a bone. That guy Jeek from the commercials, he’s in it now. Tomorrow, Greg Warren has a new stand up special, The Champ.

This will be on Natepergatzy’s Nateland Entertainment YouTube channel. In The Champ, Greg Warren delivers a deep dive into the perils of poison ivy, the unexpected popularity of high school fishing teams, and his own path to champion status. Filmed at the Funny Bone in Columbus, Ohio, The Champ is the fourth stand up special release this year by Nateland, and the second Warren has done with Brighezzi. There’s a trailer. It’s two minutes long.

I pulled just the first section. Let’s listen. Do you know that state of Illinois has high school fishing fishing coaches? I’m gonna guests are similar to the coaches I had. Will you boys embarrass yourselves out there on that lake today?

Hey s got his whole caught in the tree. Jansen pulled a shoe out of the lake, and Martin, you couldn’t catch a fish in the secret department at. The Cross Restore. If I was a fish, I feel safer out everyone. It’s okay, It’s all right, yeah fine.

Sheng Wang, one of my Faves will return to Netflix one another stand up special in twenty twenty six. They’re not filming it until November eighth at the Warner Theater in Washington, so you know, I could see that on the Netflix calendar in January. And we’ll leave on a down note. Morris, a six hundred and forty pound alligator, has died at the age of eighty. You may recognize Morris from his work in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore.

That’s not the end of his filmography, oh no. He was an alligator Alligator two Interview with the Vampire Doctor Doolittle two Eraser and Blues Brothers two thousand. He even appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Jay Young is the owner of the Colorado Gator Farm. He announced Morris’s passing in a video on Facebook.

He was sitting by the pool of Morse’s enclosure. Young gently stroked the gator’s massive head as he paid tribute to the animal he had cared for for decades. Jay Young said he started acting strange a week ago. He wasn’t looking at us and wasn’t taking food. I know it’s weird to some people that we get so attached to an alligator, but we all love our animals just like cats and dogs.

That’s your comedy news for today, See tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Interesting tweet by Ricky Turvaz. He was commenting on the Office spin off The Paper, and Ricky tweeted, It’s like The Office, but set in a dying local newspaper, like an afterlife. Do I get paid twice?

He then put a crying face emoji, you know, the happy crying face emoji, And there’s gotta be a little truth to that. Fox had their upfronts. My former coworker Jamie Fox was there and did an impression of President Donald Trump mispronouncing Tesla. Send your letters to Jamie Fox. Dennis Leary was there.

He told the audience to f off because there was a nix pep rally growing outside the garden. The Knicks lead the Celtics three games to one in a very entertaining basketball playoff series that I’ve been watching. David Letterman was at the Fox upfronts. He was lifted in the air by Michael Strahan in an effort to promote IndyCar We also learned an upfront season that famous comedy series, you know, the hilarious best comedy ever, The Bear. You know that one with all the jokes left and right.

You can’t stop laughing watching The Bear. It’ll be back June twenty fifth on Hulu. They’re doing that annoying binge release things, so like, I don’t know about you. I can sit and watch eight ten episodes of something on a Wednesday night, but then you wake up the next day and Vulture’s like the shocking death in episode nine of The Bear, and like there’s a picture of Karmi and you’re like, really, it’s pet peeve of mine. With the entertainment website spoiling everything.

At the Amazon upfronts, they announced Barber Shop, which will start Jermaine Feller. New adaptation will follow Travis traf Porter played by Feller, who’s following in the footsteps of his grandfather, a legendary barber at the iconic Calvin’s Barber Shop in Chicago. The log line, although the barbers are new, the shop remains just as lively, the customers just as argumentative, and the fathes are still the deepest in the city. Because of Calvin’s. The community comes together for way more than just a haircut.

The reviews for Tom Sigora’s Bad Thoughts are very strong, minor spoiler here, the av clubs had to say that bad Thoughts is messed up doesn’t really do it justice. A lot of TV comedies try to be edge or dark without getting anywhere near the demented through lines of these sketches. Each of these six short episodes could be easily named after bodily fluids or different worlds. For Genitalia. Fox News had some details of the Krescher and Tom Sigora five K from a while back.

I don’t know why it took a week for a recap to show up, but one did show up, Sigora told Fox News Digital. I guess he was out promoting a show, so that would make sense. We mistakenly said that we should do five k’s every year, and so now we have thousands of people coming out. We’re Raymond James Stadium and we’re doing a five K. We have like six thousand people who come through here throughout the day.

This all started with us fat shaming each other, something you’re not allowed to do, I guess, and we did it publicly on the biggest platform in the world, on Joe Rogan’s podcast, And so our approach to this has always been lighthearted, fun you bust your buddies, chaps. That’s kind of how we operate. And I mean this is that’s great. Just a way to bring people together and do something really good for yourself and then negate it all afterwards, so it’s have fun and then party. So honestly, Jelly getting behind this race really kind of inspired a lot of people try and change a little bit.

I mean, we’re looking at one lady who was five hundred pounds. That guy over there lost one hundred twenty pounds and that’s awesome. Matt Rif will star in the movie The es Court. The escort follows a reckless, flirtatious flight attendant on the brink of losing everything who’s unexpectedly tasked with mining a neurotic fourteen year old on his solo flight to boarding school. When a hurricane diverts their flight and strands them in the wrong city, the two opposites embark on a disastrous road trip that forces them to confront their fears flaws.

Well it really means to grow up. John Mulaney’s show is on tonight the topic why Can’t I Sleep? But Mullany, for the first time announced several weeks of topics Next week is is Uber Good?

And then on May twenty eighth, the finale Season Finale, we’ll see that one’s…

It is Believe. We will see Mulaney fight against three fourteen year olds in that final episode. My commentary there on season Finale or Finale did a story about a week ago where Robbie Proft from Netflix didn’t exactly say that the show was coming back, even though it had reportedly gotten a two season pickup. I’m not sure Netflix is that hot on this one Late Nighter has a list of the guests on these three shows. I don’t have a breakout for you, but sometime in the next three weeks, Amy Sidaris, Joe Mandy, Natasha Leone, Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, Sean Penn, Sigourney Weaver, and Steve Guttenberg if I had to guess, and Natasha this week because her show is out and Sarah’s got a Netflix special once that one again, Sarah’s is May twentieth, so that’s next week, so that would make sense to have Sarah Silverman on next week.

Yes, the wonderfully talented Sarah Sherman got the big shiny profile from Vanity Fair. I’m gonna save most of it for Saturday because Saturday is the SNL finale. But the part that’s making headlines is Sarah reflecting on that whole Amy lou Wood thing. Amy didn’t like Sarah’s performance on SNL, Sherman told Vanity Fair was excited a play her because she’s so iconic, Her character’s so iconic, and I obviously never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m not sure Amy lou Wood is iconic.

I want to get into beef here with Amy lou Wood. No offense, Amy, but you’re not quite tailor swift yet anyway. Sherman says, never in a million years did I get into comedy to make anyone upset. I feel terrible that anyone would feel bad. Good question by Vanity Fair.

You play many more real people on the show than you used to. Is upsetting people, as you put it, something you have to consider more now, Sherman said, totally. The show’s in constant dialogue with culture as it’s happening, and it happens really fast. Long pause. You have to be vigilant, you know what I mean?

There are a lot of things out of your control. You’re playing a lot of different parts, you’re doing a lot of different roles, You’re not in control of a lot of the process of the show has been to me. How am I answering this another pause? Staying vigilant, but also being part of the show. That’s your job, being in conversation with everything popular culture.

There’s so uch a danger there. Sometimes you don’t realize how it comes across, but you’re put in a position to be engaging with it all the time because you’re part of a show that’s constantly interacting with culture and popular politics and popular whatever. And as I get thrown more and more into the show, just this other thing that I have to learn about A great interview. I’ve shared it in the Facebook group, which is Daily Comedy News podcast group. I took the dog for a long walk and I listened to Bill Mooher and Tony Hinchcliff.

I had talked about that one on yesterday’s podcast Very Good Listen. They talked a lot about politics, but it was a smart discussion. Really enjoyed it. Tony explained the whole garbage joke. Very Good Listen Club Random and I find if you woke me up at three in the morning and said, hey, are you a Bill Mohr fan, I’d probably a three oh one be like, no, no, I don’t think so.

I don’t hate the guy, but I’m not a fan. And yet more often than not, I find the interviews on that podcast to be very, very compelling. So check out Tony hinchcliff on Bill Moore. It’s being a podcast. I forgot to do this story last week, so let me get this one in.

Did you see the Golden Globes added a new award. It’s going to be for Best Podcast, but Krescher commented, We’re Dina and now this will work. The Golden Globes says the category will honor cultural and creative impact. Krayscher asked, if it’s just about popularity, what’s the point Just hand it to Rogan every year, and I think he deserves it, But if you really value substance and message, then it should be voted on. That’s what makes it interesting.

If Krayscher had his way, he’d present the Best Podcast award exactly how podcasting roasted power. I’d do it over zoom three squares on screen one for the Globes one for the audience and one for me, and I’d open with an ad read. I’d be like, this category is brought to you by Better Help. So this got me thinking, if we can somehow we’re asking a lot, but if we can somehow get this podcast to be nominated for Best Podcast, and we can somehow get Joe Coy another opportunity to host the Golden Globes, then I could sit there and make a face, and then we could bring the whole bit full circle. I don’t think any of that’s gonna happen, but the boy can wish.

On Gossip Corner, Customers in a London bakery were left stunned when a top comedian was spotted working there. Ramesh Ragon Nathan was at Coglin’s Bakery. He was wearing a baseball cap and hoodie and he blended in with the crowd. He was seen selling delicious baked goods. Why you ask, he actually co owns part of the franchise.

And if you were hoping to see British stand up comedian Stuart Lee come to the US, he’s not coming anytime soon. He has joined the list of comedians who are afraid that they’ll come here. And get deported or something. Stuart Lee told Channel four News, I wouldn’t work in the States at the moment. I’d worry about them going through my jokes and ending up spending two days locked up without my heart medication.

I just worry about it, he said. He recently turned down and offered to perform his new show, which is titled Stuart Lee Versus the Man Wolf, for a week at a venue in Chicago. At the moment, I’d have to take a huge set of American cityscape in two full sized werewolf costumes. I’d have to get those through American customs at the moment. He then had some thoughts on current notable American politicians, and that’s not why we’re here.

So if you’re curious, you can google Stuart Lee, but I’m sure you can figure out what his opinions are. And that is your comedy news for today. I will see you tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. It is very busy for Tuesday. The networks did their upfront, so that gave us a lot of TV news. But let’s start with Tom Sigora’s Bad Thoughts, six episodes out on Netflix today.

Tom till the La Times. I thought it would be fun to stream one episode of something scripted and produced on YMH Studios, just to see if there was an appetite for that. That was the idea. We shot that one episode in April of twenty one, and it was so expensive to do and post took a really long time, so it was almost twenty twenty two when we were like, here it is. Our agents looked at it and they were like, you have to shop this.

We know you can do something with this. I was in the middle of my tour at that point, so it wasn’t until twenty twenty four when I was like, Okay, we have to get on this. Bird has a relationship with Netflix, he has five specials on there, but said I was gonna take it to HBO, Amazon, all the places. I was like, I have a relationship with Netflix, I’ll just show it to them first to see if they’re interested. Netflix did not hesitate and green lit it.

Segora says, it’s six episodes, but we got to use two of the stories that were in the original presentation. Two of the three are in the actual series, and you can tell because I weigh forty pounds more. In the Kirk Fox is part of the series and says, we all have bad thoughts, but Tom has found a way to make them as funny as they are scary, and he directs the way he exists seamless economy of words. He knows what I’d like to see a scene and makes it clear to all Rob Eiler is in this here, like who’s Rob Eiler? Aj soprano, Yeah, he said.

Tom and Christina have always been extremely supportive. So when Tom asked if I do him a favor and it was outside of the Hollywood world, it made me feel like it would just be friends making a fun show. That drew me in. Seeing Tom have the cojones to spend as much money and believe in himself and then trusting me with part of that. It seemed like a bad choice on his end, but I was down for the ride, Sigora said, everyone in the cast was so good.

But do you know Rob Eiler’s last acting gig was this Pranos and then this, and it’s completely by choice. The guy gets called and offered role. Still, when people see him this, they’re gonna be like, oh, yeah, this guy’s an incredible actor. Minor minor spoiler coming up. Okay, at one point you’re going to see Sigora’s but he says it’s his.

It’s not great. I know it’s not, but I just had to deal with it. It’s funny because when my butcht was first exposed, I was very self conscious and covering up. After thirty minutes, I was like, yeah, just look at it. I don’t care anymore.

When you see the later episodes, it’s the other side. You get full frontal. Apparently we get a lot of variety in this. Tom said, I feel like I went to film school and got to make fifteen short films with all these different genres and different characters, and I got to apply what I love a fun twist. I did see a review of it.

I think somebody jumped the gun. There’s probably an embargo. Obviously, screeners are around, but as I record on Monday, nobody else had reviewed this thing, and one site did, so I’m guessing there was an embargo that they jumped. But the reviewer there said he was unfamiliar with Sigora’s work, so I’m going to discount that he didn’t enjoy the series, and we’ll all watch it ourselves today. Bad Thought on Netflix.

Tony Hinchcliff is on Bill Maher’s podcast this week. I didn’t get to listen to it yet, but I did skim the transcript. Mars said, your reputation now, Tony is a right winger because you did the Trump rally and told the Puerto Rico joke, which is a great joke. Tony says, you’d love to know the story because you would really understand it from a comedians perspective, like I’m gonna go there to do this thing and show off free speeches, this and that and make those kind of jokes. But I had a whole thing written and planned to go in the teleprompter, and that Puerto Rico joke was actually a joke.

I had done a bunch in my stand up, and it’s part of a bigger joke with more front end and a longer back end. Bill Maher was like, like, what, I’m curious, Tony, Well, it was, you know, basically the end of the normal joke. I go, you know, I’m talking about the problems of the world. And I go, I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. Yeah, I think it’s called Puerto Rico.

And the point of the joke is that people picture, obviously in my mind, obviously the great Pacific garbage patch skipping a hit, Tony said. And I knew this going into it, and I knew it the last second when I was doing it into two thirty in the afternoon, which is another terrible problem. This is one thing I was upset about. Who was supposed to go to the evening. When I got there, I go, when am I going up in this thing?

And they say you’re up first? I went up after the national anthem. Mar was curious, why did you do it? Because you’re a support of Trumper? Is an opportunity and a paycheck?

Was it a paycheck, Tony, No, it wasn’t a paycheck. I did it literally to help get someone, hopefully, if not only ten thousand, maybe not to mention one hundred thousand, maybe two hundred if we’re lucky, actual people to vote for him. Mar Oh, so you did want people to vote for Trump? Tony yep, without a doubt. On TV Today.

The Joan Rivers tribute on NBC taped last November during the New York Comedy Festival at the Apollo Theater. A funny quote attributed to Joan Rivers. Given that I’m dead, I assume someone will finally decide to honor me. Well, it’s about time. This thing features Chelsea Handler, Nikki Glaser, Tiffany Hattish, Aubrey Plaza, Rita Wilson, Joel McHale’s in this thing.

I saw somewhere. An interesting observation from daughter Melissa Rivers. She was asked by The Daily Mail, who reminds Melissa the most of Joan Rivers said, Nikki Glaser is the closest stylistically in her delivery. Obviously Melissa knows her mom better than I did. I’ve mentioned several times I did work with Joan.

I’ve been in Joan’s apartment. I’m not sure I see any Joan Rivers in Nikki Glaser, but you know I wouldn’t arm wrestle anyone over it? Curious what you guys think? You could share your thoughts in the Facebook group, which is Daily Common News podcast group. A lot of TV news.

NBC had their upfronts. They revealed they will do a one hundredth birthday for NBC. Apparently SNL fifty went well. They trotted out Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Polar said, We’re gonna celebrate this birthday hard with a once in a lifetime television event, NBC one hundred.

It will be a star studded variety special commemorating one hundred years of culture defining content from iconic moments to unforgettable stars. Do you think David Letterman will go? That’s the first thing I think of, Tina Fey says. Hosted by a mix of legendary NBC alumni in Today’s Biggest Stars, Jimmy Fallon, the night will be filled with memorable musical performances, comedy tributes, behind the scenes stories, and surprise reunions. That’s me editorializing about Jimmy Fallon.

They didn’t actually anounce Jimmy Fallon. You’ll be hearing more soon, but I can guarantee this because it’s twice the age of SNL. It’s going to be twice as long as the SNL anniversary special. That’s right, folks, six hours of a fun decade by decade look back, Mamy polar Aded. Get your protein bores and your water bottles ready for that marathon.

We don’t know when it will air, but NBC marks it’s one hundredth anniversary in November of twenty twenty six. Fourth quarter is a good time to sell ads, so you could pretty much write down November. They also shared some more details about the office spin off or retake or whatever we’re calling this thing. The paper Oscar Nunia has told a story in which he told Greg Daniels that post office he imagined Oscar had moved to a more cosmopolitan environment. Nunia said, Greg heard me and moved Oscar to Toledo, Ohio, which has three times the population of Scranton.

So it’s nice to be heard. Am I the first one or the last one who put together that? At the office takes place at a paper company, and the word is paper, and the paper takes place at a newspaper which is paper. Did everybody put that together two years ago? Because I only put that together today or are you all going like, oh wow, I don’t know.

Daniels tell the Hollywood Reporter that the paper will employ much of the same crew that worked on the office. It’s all about this struggling mid It’s about this struggling Midwestern newspaper that’s much reduced from its glory. Toda’s A lot of the storylines are about how this guy, Domal Gleeson’s character is trying to restore the paper and he just doesn’t have the budget for hiring reporters, and he has to use all the staff that work there on a volunteer basis, two B reporters. They’re completely untrained and don’t know what they’re doing. The villain here is the Internet, the ability to look at everybody’s news for free, and all the ad revenue going to Google.

Tracy Morgan getting an NBC sitcom executive produced by Tina Fay. Tracy will co star with Daniel Radcliffe in the Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Tracy Morgan plays a disgraced former football player who’s on a mission to rehab his image. Radcoffe plays Arthur Tobin, a filmmaker who moves into Reggie’s mansion to film a documentary about the faded star. Morgan is also due to star in Crutch, a spinoff from the Neighborhood, in which Tracy Morgan plays a Harlem widower whose empty nest plans are put on hold after his millennial son and free spirited daughter moved back home.

On Friday, NBC canceled a bunch of things, including Lopez Versus Lopez and night Court, both those not coming back. Fox announced Fear Factor. The next chapter. The synopsis dropped into a remote location, A group of strangers will live together under one roof and face stunts challenges in a game of social strategy. The original ran on NBC from two thousand and one to two thousand and six.

It came back for a little bit in twenty eleven. In twenty seventeen, MTV also tried to relaunch it, with Ludacrous hosting. That version ran for thirty three episodes. How the point here is they’re not sure if Joe Rogan is coming back. Most people assume no.

Also out now Greg Guttfeld’s What Did I Miss? On that show, they placed five people in complete isolation and Upstate New York with no contact to the outside world, no phones, Internet, TV, social media. They were locked in a room or a house or whatever it is for ninety days January twentieth through April thirteenth. One of the five dropped out early. The four remaining contestants were brought to Guttfeld’s Fox News studio to play a game of true or false about the events of Trump’s first three months back in the White House.

The winner gets twenty five thousand dollars. They were locked away for ninety days for twenty five thousand dollars. I don’t want to be like mister big shot, mister big wallet, but that’s not that much money. And Greg Gutfeld seems to agree. He said, this is the cheapest game show in modern history.

These people are in a house for ninety days for twenty five grand. They could have made that on OnlyFans. A spokesperson for Fox News Media told The Hollywood Reporter the contestants were compensated daily for their time. Guttfeld said, I got them an extra five k. It’ll pay for the uber back home now.

The Hollywood Reporter did some math for okay. They point out ninety days is less than thirteen weeks if you put in forty hours per week at the New York state minimum wage of fifteen to fifteen an hour in in New York City at sixteen to fifteen hour, any full time worker would walk away from the same three month period with eight thousand dollars. And that doesn’t even factor in the other one hundred and twenty eight hours that you’re not working a forty hour week. One of the contestants, in an exit interview says, I feel terrible. I feel I had to spend ninety days of my life for no reason at all.

So much going on today, Let’s just do a bunch of gossip corner from Late Night or James Austin Johnson got injured during Saturday Night Live, Apparently during the sketch the second Amendments, where Johnson was standing behind a table the entire time playing James Madison, he slipped in the heels he had been wearing for the sketch, injuring his foot. During the Good Nights he was on crutches. Does SNL just have crutches backstage? Where did the crutches come from? The Saturday Night Network said Johnson was set to appear a second sketch called bullying assembly, but it was cut for time.

It’s unclear if it was cut for time or cut for crutches. Late Nighter points out Johnson’s injury is the first known instance of a mid show injury since season forty one, when Leslie Jones tore her acl in a sketch. Morgan Wallen was on a podcast and was asked, Hey, did SNL make you mad? Remember he kind of stormed off a little bit. Morgan is telling it none.

I was just ready to go home. I’d been there all week, because you know, you can’t wait an extra ninety seconds and wave at the camera and then leave. Avanka Trump was at the Theo vonn concert. The Irish Times tells us the President’s daughter let her hair down for a fun night out going to see the comedian. She dazzled in a little black dress, says The Irish Times.

Rob Schneider throughout the first pitch at the El Paso Chihuahuas game after being spotted in an El Paso coffee shop along with Drake Bell. Schneider wore a red Chihuahas jersey. It’s been a couple seconds warming up before throwing ball. Apparently made an ok pitch. The chiuaha was posted on social media.

Rob Schneider wasn’t a bench warmer tonight, Waca waca. Rob Schneider started in the two thousand and six film The Benchwarmers. Gabe Iglacias posted a selfie wearing a Taco Polenke hat. In the photo, he’s next to another man wearing the same hat. Who’s that man?

None other than the founder himself, One Francisco Poncho Ochoa Iglesia said in the Insta story, he’s the founder of El Poyo Loco, Taco, Polenke and Polenke Grill and I had the pleasure of having dinner with him and his family tonight in San Antonio. At eighty one years of age, he still continues to create an inspire. He’s also a Daughters fan. And that’s it. My voice is giving out, So we’ll wrap it up here and we’ll see you back tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Louis C.K. Has a book coming out, a dramatic novel described as not particularly funny, and most of the media coverage around it so far talks about the cancelation of Louis C.K. Job is four one one rights.

The once canceled comedian calls Ingram a dramatic story and not particularly funny. It’ll be out November eleventh. Ck is reading the audio version of the book and jokes the price for Ingram will be one million dollars per copy. I know that sounds like a lot, but my thinking is, this way, we only need to sell one book to a great success. He explains, that’s a joke.

The price is a normal book price. Ck posted Ingram is literally fiction. I just learned that it’s a very dramatic story, and it better confess to you that this book is not particularly funny. I’m not saying you will never laugh while reading it. You probably will laugh a few times.

You might even laugh a lot if you’re insane. But essentially Ingram, it’s not a comedy book. It’s a literary novel. Boy, that was hard Ingraham is the story of a boy who lives in a very noworre place with no one to talk to and nothing to do and very little to eat. He’s forced to leave that place and go out into a chaotic, cool, confusing, and fascinating world.

He commences to do the only things left to him his options. He survives, he suffers, he learns, he wonders, cries, laughs, and he grows, just as anything that doesn’t die continues to grow. Over the last few years, I’ve been writing a lot of fiction, mostly short stories. I don’t know if I’ll publish any of them, but I love writing them. So one day I got this voice of a simple but eloquent country boy in my head, and I sat down to write his story.

I had no idea it was going to be a book, and I had no idea what would happened to him. For many months, I sat down almost every day and I’d ask Ingram what happens next, and he would tell me, And just like that, one day, as suddenly as he had shown up, it was over. That’s Ingram. I’m writing another novel now, by the way, it’s completely different from Ingram. Maybe I’ll publish that someday Liddhab jumped in and said, if you need a refresher on ck Meg writes excellent piece from twenty eighteen lays out these sexual harassment accusations, and Yck’s t into comedy was a sad inevitability with bigger stakes than one man’s redemption arc.

Skipping ahead a bit, they go to the description of the book, A suspenseful offer in harrowing yet hopeful Odyssey through rural America follows a young drifter’s coming of age and an indifferent world lit Hubright’s okay, not a bad log line at the jump, a little gest role, but it sounds exciting at least suspenseful, harrowing, hopeful in Odyssey is filing on a lot, but maybe pointing to something action packed and adventurous. When the description of Ingram is so vague, it’s hard to avoid filling in the blanks with real life details and guessed at motivations. Is c k just writing a rote novel about America? Or is the book about a funny and resilient character who rises from the dirt only to find a world set against him in his humble dream of truck ownership. You know who else was canceled was Roseanne.

The canceled comedian will resurface in a new documentary, Roseanne Barr Is America. It’ll be out on DVD on June tenth. The film chronicles Roseanne Barr’s life story, starting with a challenging childhood when she was raised Jewish in Salt Lake City, Utah. H In the doc, Roseanne revealed she started telling jokes to make her father laugh to avoid punishment. She winds up in La at the Comedy Store, then The Tonight Show with Johnny led It, a gig as the opener for singer Julio Iglesias at the sitcom Roseanne.

However, her success eventually crumbled under the weight of several missteps, including an unfortunate performance of the Star Spangled banner at a Padres game. She hosted her own talk show, but it all came crashing down after a late night tweet she made while she claimed she was on ambient. She was kicked off her own show, The Roseanne Revival, and blacklisted by everyone except Fox News and Doctor Oz. In the new doc, Roseanne gives her a side of the story through exclusive interviews. Nate Bergatzi is very thankful about SNL accelerating his career in the last few years.

Nate told people, I’d heard that John Mulaney, Jimmy found Pete Davidson and a bunch of SNL folks had been floating my name to Lorne Michaels for a while, but then with the strike, they needed stand up comedians to fill in, so I got the opportunity. I was already doing pretty okay on the road. People says that’s an understatement. He was selling out stadiums and had three Netflix specials already. But I knew the importance of it and that I’d be getting in front of an audience that might not otherwise be familiar with me.

I’ve been doing comedy for twenty years, but it does feel like it happened overnight to reach the mainstream. It’s just been a whole other level. After that debut, he was dubbed the nicest guy in stand up by The Atlantic. The Atlantic probably has never met Jeff Foxworthy, but I’ve never met Nate, so I don’t know, but I’ll give that title to Foxworthy.

Also, super nice is Larry the Cable Guy, But they would if they had a nice of…

I don’t even know who would win. Nate says, I was fortunate to get tagged with nicest guy in comedy and not something else. It’s nice. I’m sure it could be many other things, but it’s a good one to get tagged with. I mean, yeah, I’m fortunate that it’s that not something else.

Vulture caught up with Walt Disney Television Alternative TV chief Rob Mills. ABC now has the Oscars and the Grammys and some other stuff. So Walter asked Walt Disney Television Alternative TV chief Rob Mills if Conan doing two Oscars in a row means Kimmel has decided he’s done hosting the show. Walt Disney Television Alternative TV chief Rob Mills said, I certainly hope we didn’t see Kimmel’s last Oscars two years ago. He said they needed a little break, and I mean the privilege of having done Oscars with Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien, who were two faces on Late Nights Mount Rushmore is amazing.

When you don’t do the job the date, it’s worth asking would he be interested in doing it again? And we were lucky. I hope Jimmy’s hosting the Oscars or something else down the line. We have a litany of awards shows, Okay, the Late Nights Mount Rushmore. You get four spots, right, so Johnny Carson obviously, and we’ve got three left.

You got to give the second one to David Letterman. The guy was on for thirty years, and you don’t have Conan without Dave. So all right, so we have Carson and Letterman late Night Mount Rushmore. Off the top of my head, possibilities include Steve Allen, Jack Parr, who I think we got to consider here, Jay Leno, kim Old, Colbert Fallon, Seth Myers, James Corden, Greig Ferguson, John Stewart, all right, Carson Letterman hmm. I don’t want to ignore like Steve Allen and Jack Parr.

Younger people are probably right now, like who the heck is Jack Parr? But when Carson was on, you always heard about Jack Parr. Let me ask AI what they think? AI rights the Mount Rushmore of late night TV host should honor the legends who redefined the genre and left the lasting legacy. Here are the four Carven Granite One Johnny Carson, the George Washington of Late Night.

He hosted The Tonight Show for thirty years, launch countless careers. If you’re building a mountain, he’s the foundation. I like it AI too. David Letterman, the iconoclast. He reinvented Late Night with irony, absurdism and a top ten list of cultural influence.

AI is but Conan O’Brien, the writer turn host who turned awkward into art. His Harvard Wit surreal sketches and self deprecation redefined the genre for gen X and millennials. He’s the Teddy Roosevelt, more niche, but a force of nature. Good job, AI. The AI gave it to Colbert.

The AI’s reasoning for his dual achievements. First is the satirical Colbert Report persona, and now is the mainstream network King of the lad Show. I’m not putting Stephen Colbert on Mount Rushmore, No AI right. Honorable mention, Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, Joan Rivers first female host to break through, and John Stewart. They throw out there, Seth Myers and John Oliver.

We’ve also forgotten Dick Cavit. I’ll tell you what. Let’s take this up on the Facebook group Daily Comedy News Podcast Group. I’ll leave one spot for you. I’m giving it to Carson, Letterman and Conan.

You got one more? Who do you want to put on a late night Mount Rushmore? Let me know in the comments Daily Comedy News Podcast Group. You know what, let’s just get out there. That’s a fun way to leave, right Carson Letterman, Conan, and who’s number four?

I think it might be Jay Leno, but you let me know, see you, tomor

Caloroga Shark Media. Happy Mother’s Day. I Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News Montreals. Just for last comedy festival is beck Baby. Your headliners Tom Sigora, May Martin, Russell Peters some other big names not included in the headliner line come in on Gianni Fortune, Fiemester, Michelle Butto and Adam Ray.

You may recall the festivals canceled last year. There were some financial issues and JFL has a new ownership now. CEO Sylvaine parent Badard said the team has worked so hard in the last few months to build back and put in place a great festival, a stable festival. This is good news for the community, good news for Montreal, good news for the comedy industry, and something that we’re really proud of. I’m rooting for them.

That was the best festival you could argue. Now the Netflix one is better, but different because the Netflix one has bigger names at this point. But part of that is because they do in Los ange Us and it’s not like a centralized festival the way Montreal is. If you go to Montreal, it’s all within I don’t know, five blocks of each other, and it’s really easy to bounce around. When I go, I can see three four shows a night, whereas La is kind of like, hey, famous person who lives in the greater Los Angeles area, do you mind coming down to the arena.

It’s seven thirty and doing a show and then you can go home. So it’s kind of different. So I really hope Montreal comes back and is as great as it was just for laughs file for bankruptcy in twenty twenty four, citing various financial troubles. There was also that pandemic in there that kind of messed things up. Prent Bogard said one day, we hope to be recognized again as the greatest and biggest comedy festival in the world.

But I know that we’re going to do great this summer, and the most important thing for us is comedians having fun, fans having fun. I’m glad you open the door there, because my initial reaction to the lineup was it wasn’t quite where the lineups have been in the past. But it’s a rebuild, so we all understand that, so I’m not going to sit your this is a terrible The festival runs from July sixteenth through the twenty seventh. Tickets go on sale May twelfth. We’re on the schedule websites, so they’ve got two Gallas listed with no name attached, so there’s potential for two really big names coming there.

In the past, the Galas are very much all stars. At this point, they don’t appear to have the site sorted by date, but some names here, Russell Howard kat Cohen. The Just for Laughs Culture Show is back that at one point I think was called the Ethnic Show, and then was just for the culture right, and now it’s Culture Show. Let’s see this year hosted by Asifa Lee from Deli Boys, Andrea Jin and Frankie Conyunis have been named to that one May Martin, Adam Rays, Doctor Phil Midnight Surprise, Camilnnjianni drop Out, Improv, Rose Battle Canada, Russell Peters, k, Trevor Wilson, Sabrina Jay Lees and ns Esmer, Fortune Fimester and Michelle Butteou, Tom Sagora, Nina Kanti, Nick Muhammad you know him from Ted Lasso, Brad Williams. Oh see, that’s a name that should have been on the first page.

Danny Boy New Faces, So that’s great. Let me check the schedule there see if they’re still doing two nights of New Faces. I’m really glad that’s still happening. No schedule yet, Okay. This year’s New Faces lineup features four distinct showcases, stand ups, three different lineups.

Oh wow, that’s great. So it’ll be thirty and characters. That’s great. Somebody tell missus Mack that her husband’s going to wind up in Canada for a few days. That’s exciting.

Three days a New Faces. I’m excited for that. The Nasty Show is back, and brits Ish is hosted by Ed Gamble. This year, Jimmy Kimmel as a new web series parodying video podcasters that pedal political conspiracies. This one is called The rabbit Hole with Jimmy Kimmel.

ABC describes it as the number one basement conspiracy video podcast the government doesn’t want you to see. It’ll live on the Jimmy Kimmel Live YouTube channel. The premiere episode covers the truth about five G. Kimmel connects the dots between five G and Barack Hussein Obama, unveiling a conspiracy that threads the Five Guys Samberger Chein to the band Toto to Tanya Harding to sell Tower provider Crown Castle. Why did they make this?

I guess they had an Internet ad spend. Kimmel says, I’m just asking questions. Future episodes of The rabbit Hole will see Jimmy Kimmel exposing the secret truth so about time travel, boat wakes, windmills, elon musk leprechauns, and waffle houses. Chang Wang spoke to the Dartmouth and says this is the first tour he’s done since the release of Sweet and Juicy, and it’s the biggest tour of his career so far. Shank says, any things will be different after my Netflix premiere, but I wasn’t sure just how much the needle had moved.

It’s been incredible to see how many people resonated with the special and wanted to come out and watch my new live show on this tour, despite the fatigue of travel, I’m feeling absolutely grateful for the opportunities to do these shows for all the fans, old and new. I believe I’m still trying to find my voice to be my freest self. I think when you write your first few original jokes that actually get laughs, you get a sense that it’s possible that you can be great if you keep creating new bits and keep yourself to a hig standard to keep honing, tinkering and editing to find the strongest version of your ideas. Don’t expect them to be political. He says, curt events generally seem pretty grim.

I don’t usually discuss those things what are my feelings about them directly, but it motivates me to try to do my best to make a lasting impression on people who come out to enjoy a comedy show. Sarnagarg spoke to The Today Show about being a mom and a comedian and says you have to be quick on your feet in both jobs. As a parent, something news happened constantly, your mind is like, what am I gonna do? How am I gonna deal with it? Do I say something?

Do I retract?

Meanwhile, I’s a comic.

You could be workshopping the same material like all comics do for years, But that night you don’t know what’s gonna happen. You don’t know who’s gonna be in the audience. You don’t know what crisis you’re gonna deal with. She spoke about mom guilt being on the road. I don’t know if it ever leaves you.

My friends whose moms are ninety something, and those moms are still feeling guilt. It’s hard. Your heart drops every weekend because other moms are at my kids’ sports and they’ll send me videos and be like, Oh, he scored a goal or whatever big thing happened in basketball, And in those moments, I feel like I’ve missed something. Amy Poehler coming back to TV and working with Parks and rec Co creator Mike Sure. They’re collaborating on a comedy for Peacock called Dig.

Dig is based on the novel Excavations, which will see Amy Poehler and some yet to be cast friends doing an Indiana Jones thing. Four women working at an archaeological dig in Greece are a wildly different crossroads in their lives. When their team uncovers a long buried secret with a potential to rewrite history, they find themselves at the center of a high stakes international conspiracy. Yeah, okay, I mean good pedigree there with Mike Sure and Amy Poehler, but that premise seems a little crazy. We’ll see, But what do I know?

Because Fox has renewed Dennis Leary’s Going Dutch. You people watched that really. You may recall that Going Dutch stars Dennis Leary doing Dennis Leary things as the arrogant, loudmouth US Army Colonel Patrick Quinn reassigned to the Netherlands after an epically unfiltered rant. Yes, the wacky Army base has a Michelin star Commissary Mary, a bowling alley, a laundromat, and he’s surrounded by wacky characters, including XO Major Abraham Shaw played by Danny Putty from Community. Apparently people watch this thing, so Going Dutch coming back for season two.

Going Dutch averages eight hundred and forty two thousand viewers.

Meanwhile, Animal Control with Joel McHale got another season.

I think it’s their third. Michael Thorne is the president of the Fox Television Network. It says Animal Control and Going Dutch are proven winners thanks to signature Fox characters brought to life by Joel and Dennis, two of the funniest comedic voices on TV today, giving us an ideal foundation for building our new comedy block. And that is your comedy news for today. See Tomorrow
