The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your daily comedy and who’s pretty robust Off the holiday weekend. If you missed it, there’s a new Tom Segora special on Netflix and a fun headline I saw on Tom Segora Twitter said Tom Sagora says Groth Brooks finally blocked him on Instagram and doesn’t like the serial killer jokes, And I was like, okay, what’s this that took me to Whiskey Riff. By the way, do not click on Whiskey Riff dot com unless you love pop up ads covering the article you’re trying to read. I get the monetization, folks, but I couldn’t even read the article.

Here’s the backstory. You may have noticed that all of Garth Brooks social media posts, especially on Instagram, are littered with comments asking him a rather peculiar question. It all started back in October twenty eighteen, when Garth announced his stadium tour. Tom Segora brought up a conspiracy theory in which people believe that Gorthbrook stadium tours often align with missing people cases that appear across several cities in the United States. Sagora is on with theel Vaughan who said people are saying I’m trolling the guy.

All I’m doing is repeating what I’ve heard that allegedly his tour schedule aligns with Duzen and missing persons. On his own podcast, Segora has alleged, let me quote it here, We’ve been really, really on one with Garth Brooks the last few weeks or months. Really what he’s thinking about is all the bodies he’s got stacked in graves in his yard. For sure, he’s probably killed two hundred to three hundred people in his life. The hosts continue to troll Garth Brooks with serial killer jokes and included segments in their show like Garth Brooks sucks, what’s wrong with Garth?

Groth’s beard looks insane? And most notably, where are the bodies Garth? Then they found there’s a gym in the UK named Garth’s Gym Future Bodies. Although sports Gidia points out in Daily Comedy News would also like to point out the theory seems to be a coincidence. No news outlet has reported on Garth Brooks being involved in any missing persons cases.

I don’t believe he’s a serial killer at all. In fact, I’ll declare that he’s definitely not and there are no investigations into Garth Brooks being a serial killer. Segura has confirmed that he’s been blocked by Brooks, telling THEO Von first, I got worried about a year ago from a one hundred percent reliable source. I was like, does he know, and they’re like, ah, yeah, he knows. And I was like, is he upset?

And they’re like, he just doesn’t get it. He doesn’t know why you’re talking about him. Then recently he blocked me on Instagram and I was like, oh, he finally blocked me for a couple of years. Sagora was not actually blocked by Garth on Instagram. He was just restricted, whatever that means, even though most of the comments Garth gets on any post are asking where the bodies are.

John Mulaney was on the Hot Ones podcast, and he can handle spicy food. He gave some harsh notes to a hot sauce called de bomb. Mulaney said, it’s not good. It’s not good food. Do you understand it doesn’t make food better.

I’m not trying to damage their business. Not a good product. Later in the interview, we talked about being a dad and said when he was a kid. Here’s the problem with goldfish, especially if you’re like taking care of people, you want to feed them more, but you’re not supposed to. There’s only one thing I can ever give you, goldfish, and I gave it to you ready today.

But you’re still there. And I want you to like me, and I want you to tell the other fish that I’m a good guy. So I’d love to feed you again and again and again kill him with kindness. A scary moment for Gabriel Fluffy Iglesias. His plane ran off the runway on Friday.

His private plane was attempting the land at Western Carolina Regional Airport around one o’clock Friday. The Guldstream four ended up on the grass about six hundred feet past the end of the runway. Gabe on Twitter set everybody is okay, but shaking up, happy to be alive. Here’s a weird one. What are you up to?

Amy Schumer? Amy Schumer dropped in virtually to commend the cast of Joyride. They were doing a press jacket and suddenly Amy Schumer’s on and says, Hi, this is Amy Schumer from I Love Joyride Dot com She went on to say that she loved the movie so much, the cast, everyone involved. I can’t tell you how much I love this movie and how much I needed it. It’s my girl friend.

Everyone Comedy of the Summer, you guys rock. I’ve been doing this while something’s up there. We’ll see what happens there. Joel mchael says Donald Glover is indeed returning for the Community Movie. This is a lot of news off of four day weekend, right, Yeah, not scraping the barrel at all today.

Donald Glover will be in the Community Movie. According to Joel mcchall, Chip Chase will not. Peacock has yet who officially confirmed Donald Glover’s involvement, but Joel was on Kelly Ripp’s podcast said Donald’s coming back, and that’s really important. The fact that Donald’s going to do it. That was the big piece.

But I think everyone’s coming back. I mean, so far, we’re pretty good, and I think it’ll happen. If not, then you know, Donald’ll be there. See it’ll just be Donald. It’ll just be in an episode of Atlanta, all right by everyone?

Does that include Chevy Chase? Michael said, yeah, I don’t think so. There weren’t any issues at all when we were making the show. Vulture reviewed Alex Edelman’s new show Just for Us. That’s the show built around Alex’s experiences at a white supremacist meeting.

Spoilers here. Once he arrives, he gets distracted by the fact that the meetings being held in an apartment full of completed framed jigsaw puzzles. The members of the meeting even have a spread of whites only muffins and orange juice. He starts his show by bringing its scale all the way down. He launches into a riff about a gorilla’s friendship with Robin Williams sentence, I didn’t expect to say even gorillas were like this guy is unbelievable, and contrasted williams nearly universal appeal with his own specific appeal, saying, my comedy barely works if you’re not a jew from the Upper East Side.

Vulture points out, as most audiences will know going in, this is a show about a Jewish comedian who ended up going to a white nationalist meeting. So why are we starting by imitating a zookeeper describing celebrity deaths and sign language? Because Edelman’s opening gambit reveals itself to be kennily constructed. He pulls the audience close with the self deprecation and then destabilizes the dynamic. He turns things around and makes the show all about his need as a comedian to appease, which reacts nauseatingly when it comes in contact with Nazis.

Genre Wise, Just for Us lies in the growing niche of solo performances that falls somewhere between storytelling and stand up in the vein of Mike Bibiglia’s ventures. Burbiglia is a producer on Just for Us. Josh Gadd gave an update on the Honey I Shrunk the Kids franchise and how you were like, hey, where’s the new Honey I Shrunk the Kids movie? Well, it was announced back in twenty twenty. Rick Moranis was going to reprise his role as scientist Wayne Zelenski, but we haven’t heard much.

Josh Gadd went on Twitter and he said, a lot of you are asking me what’s going on with this film? Were they really okay? True? It is we were inchest from starting and then COVID hit inchest from starting again, and then my schedule exploded with conflicts inchest from starting again, and budget got the best of us. If you want it, let your local Disney know.

UCB is going to reopen in New York City. UCB under new ownership now They found a new theater space on Fourteenth Street in Manhattan. The new owners said, we’re planning on resuming performances in the fall of twenty three, and that’s as specific as we want to get right now. New space will include three floors. There are plans to add an elevator to make an ADA compliance.

The ground floor will include a coffee bar, hangout space, and small performance area. The mezzanine will have a bar and restrooms that are so big it’s crazy. In the basement will house the main theater. This sounds pretty cool. Variety of reports.

A comedian has filed a copyright lawsuit over the stand up series Live at the Moth Club. Comedian Harry Dean’s Way is suing Steve Coogan’s production company over a series called Live at the Moth Club, which he claims rips off his YouTube show Shambles. In the filing, Shambles is described as a sitcom centered around a live comedy night at a Rundown club. Struggling to make ends meets The show blends fact in fiction by combining a sitcom set behind the scenes of a club with real comedy performances in front of a live audience. The lawsuit says Live at the Moth Club is kind of similar to Shambles, including the setting, the format, and characters such as a shambolic promoter.

He also claims a number of jokes are ripped off, including one about the lights of the club not working and another in which an intern ends up writing material for one of the comedians. A spokesperson on Coogan’s side said, we strongly refute this claim, which has no legal merit and entre comedy news for Today. The Shark Deck. Happy July fourth, Tom Segoora has got a new special for you on Netflix. Hi, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Segura says he has no patience for comedians who pool punches out of fear for being attacked online. He said that backlash stuff is not real.

It’s not true. The time you get into deeper stuff is when you the comedian, decides to engage in the backlash. Guess what, it all goes away. His new special, Sledgehammer out Today, recorded in November. He jokes about parenting his two young boys, calling them like raising wild donkeys, getting his mom high for the first time on gummies, and his admiration for Brad Pitt.

This is interesting. They shot four different performances in Phoenix. They thought they’d cut it together and make a perfect special, but they ended up using just one show, and that was the first performance. Segoora said it was such a crazy, energetic, fun environment. He’s got more specials coming out on Netflix.

The next one will shoot late twenty twenty five at the earliest, though, so enjoy this one. Tom is also building out YMH Studios. They’re working on some movies. One of the movies Fat Astronauts, a comedy in development scripted by Tom Sigoor and Bert Kreisher. Fat Astronauts centers on two brows who live at De Botch Lifestyle on a moon colony and decide they never want to come back to Earth.

Gee, who would you cast as two fat astronauts in a movie written by Tom Sigour and Bert Kreisher. And they’re partying on the moon. We’ll see. Unfortunately, there’s that pesky writer Strike Segur says, you’re trying to do as much as you can without going into a coma. As a company, it’s fun to try new things.

He talked about his podcast podcast. Advertising is slowed down, but he’s confident it will rebound. Tom said, what has happened over the last year is not that unusual in business. You have an economy that’s been slowing down continuously for a while, and that always affects marketing at ad dollars. It’s cyclical.

This kind of thing doesn’t stay this way forever. I feel like the recovery has begun, he says. When he or his wife Christina Pizitski Christina Pee or on the road producing there your mom’s House podcast can be challenging. What we end up doing is going in a hypermode for several weeks to record and produce a big batch of episodes. I don’t want to compare it to real working people, but it ends up sucking the life out of you.

If you do eight episodes in one week, it’s a lot. It’s not our preference. The Sydney Morning Harold asked Fortune Feamster seven questions. Let’s see what they are. Question number one worst habit, Fortune said, I don’t always pay attention to detail.

Someone will tell me something and I’ll shake my head and then three minutes later I’m like, wait, what did you want me to do? That sounds like me seconds greatest fear, she says, I think as a performer, you always worry that work will just end, so we all bust our butts thinking things won’t last. What line stayed with you? Her line? But the pause of fear upon your chest.

Only love can sue that beast, and my words are paper. Tiger is no match for the predators of pain inside her. What’s that from John? That’s from the Indigo Girls. Love will come to you.

Fortune’s biggest regret. I couldn’t have changed this. But I wish my grandmother had been able to see me grow up beyond high school. She’d never got to see me perform. Orn’t be out.

Fortune’s favorite room is her office. It’s sort of my safe space and where I create. What art or song does she wish was hers? Basically any adele song and if she could solve one thing world peace. Kevin Hart was on Jay Shetty’s podcast and Kevin answered the question what’s the biggest drug in life?

Kevin said, the biggest drug, it’s not cocaine, it’s not heroin, it’s not molly or opioids. The biggest drug is fame. And the reason why it’s the biggest drug. It makes you feel like you’re powerful and like everywhere you go and anything you want, everything you want, Nobody prepares you for the world of fame. Kevin also talked about his near fatal car accident and he said, I really almost died.

The incident shaped his stance on fame, allowing him to sort his priorities out and get his responsibilities in order. Kevin said, I didn’t even have everything dialed up. If something were to happen, I’m out here. I’m just roaming. I’m out here aimlessly living.

I’m moving so fast I’ve yet to grasp the true concept and reality of responsibility. The event enabled him to prioritize his family alongside work. While the responsibility of balancing the need for work and spending time with his loved ones has led to several contradictions, he still tries his best to change every day. Kevin said, I believe in God. I’m not a spiritual sun maybe, but very thankful for the life.

God has allowed me to live in the opportunities that have been but embark upon. But I’ve got a lot more appreciation after life was almost gone. Jocelyn Chia wrote an editorial for Newsweek under the title I was canceled for a joke. Jocelyn is the comedian that made a joke about the Malaysian flight. Jocelyn writes, I first saw someone sharing my clip in an Instagram story.

The words were in Malay, which I didn’t understand, but ended with a wow. Funnily enough, I think it was a compliment. I reposted the story. However, as negative story shares and comments rapidly piled up, I soon realized that the wow had not been meant as a compliment. I knew one I had to do.

I’m not like some comedians who would just ignored block nasty comments. I used to be a lawyer, and in the face of verbal attack, the lawyer and me will rear her argumentative head and engage in battle with this kind of massive onslaught. However, engagement would have been both futile and emotionally destroying. Instead, it was time to play defense. I switched the setting of my social media to limit the comments and the messages I could get.

I’d deactivated the two platforms I was barely active on. Why I give the haters extra places for their bile. I turned on an auto responder for the email address that I was getting unwanted emails on, and pause the inbox all calls from a Malaysian number. I turned off Google alerts from a name and did not read anything being written about me. That night, I barely slept and woke up the next day to frantic sounding messages from the comedy seller.

I was informed that due to the review bombs they were getting, which eventually amounted to four thousand one star reviews, they had taken down the video. They requested that I take the video down too, which had their logo on it, and sent me a video without their logo that I could post if I wish. The comedy seller backed down. I was in this all alone against an angry nation of thirty three million people. By Thursday, the Singapore Foreign Minister had apologized to Malaysia from my joke.

The harassment also intensified. Multiple attempts were made to hack my socials. My personal information was exposed. The comedy seller website was hacked. In every venue I had ever worked at, was review bombed and threatened with strong arming them and not working with me.

IBM called to cancel me for a series of broadcasts I had done for their American and European offices every quarter for the past two years because their Malaysian office was unhappy with my joke. A new Or comedy club told me I could no longer be on a show I was previously booked for. A full on war was being waged against my mental health and livelihood. People advised me to just apologize, saying, Dave Chappelle can afford to not apologize. You can’t.

Jocelyn Rights, Chris Rock took a punch Dave Chappelle was attacked. Hasan minhas received an anthrax scare, Singaporean comedians that faced condemnations and calls for their arrest by Malaysians. A Malaysian comedian was arrested and is going to be standing trial over joke, and the list goes on. Even though it was just one person, I still wanted to take a stand, a stand for myself, my art, my fellow comedians, and for the freedom of speech, especially in a comedic context with no malice involved. So I chose to repost the video.

I wanted to send my haters the message I was not going to be bullied into backing down. I also posted humor stories about my situation and let them know there’s one thing they can’t cancel, my sense of humor. Wow. And here’s a July fourthe kind of thing from The Gazette. Comedian Bob Hope visited Cedar Rapperts three times.

I don’t know why they randomly did this. I don’t know if there’s some sort of anniversary or something going on there. I’m a big Bob Hope fan. I know a lot of people judge Bob by his NBC comedy specials. He did when he was eighty plus years old, and Bob lived to be one hundred.

Don’t underestimate the young Bob Hope. The radio shows are classic. He had such great timing the USO shows, I’m sure meant a lot to a lot of people. Was he a flawed man, absolutely, but one of the top entertainers of the twentieth century anyway. The Gazette writes performances range from a vaudeville program in nineteen twenty nine to sold out shows at five Season Center fifty years later.

Bob Hope performed in Cedar Rapids three times during his career. His first visit to Cedar Rapids he was twenty six and still mostly performing theater. He was included in a nineteen twenty nine Fathers Day vaudeville program at the Iowa Theater. At The Gazette reported, Bob Hope has some entertaining song and soalk numbers that made it a hit. No mention of the comedy interesting.

Second trip to Cedar Rapids was twenty years later. Bob had made the jump from theater into film and TV. He’d been doing the USO shows. He was accompanied by Maryland Maxwell, his co star in the film The Lemon Drop Kid. Hope and Maxwell arrived at the Cedar Rapids Airport on a flight from Omaha on a Saturday afternoon.

About three hundred people there were to get a glimpse of the stars. Maxwell proceeded Hope off the plane and broke on a wide grin. A banner greeted the new arrival saying welcome Maryland, Maxwell and above that, in smaller letters, Bob Hope End. They added out to the Cedar Rapids Country Club. They played nine holes of golf.

Bob shot at forty on a part thirty five. Maxwell was a novice who shot ten on the first hole. After that, nobody counted her strokes. She asked Bob about her stance and said, is this right Bob? And Bob said that’s it.

At least that’s what they told me. It only costs me eight thousand dollars. Bob came back in September of nineteen seventy nine. He was seventy six years old. Then he sold out crowd of more than four thousand watched his show at the five Season Center.

He said, it’s nice to be in Cedar Rapids. This is a beautiful garage. It was the same joke he had told three decades before. He did some local humor, saying Cedar Rapids is such a clean town. It doesn’t have any slums.

To spice things up. A hobo comes across from Waterloo once in a while, and he made fun of President Jimmy Carter, saying, I don’t know why people pick on Carter. Hell, he hasn’t done anything. When the show was over, Bob hopped in who was nineteen thirty five? I rolls Royce headed to the airport.

Is private plane took him to his next stop. Enjoy the fireworks. That’s your coming in news for today. Follow the show for free on Apple, podcast, Spotify, YouTube, wherever you get your shows. See Tomorrow

The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News and this is not holiday weekend filler at all. What a robust show. News broke on Thursday, five seconds after I recorded the entire weekend. Pete Davidson has entered rehab.

Oh no, hope you’re okay. A source close to Pete told People that Pete, who’s twenty nine years old, had checked himself in a treatment but should be getting out pretty soon. Maybe by the time you’re hearing this, he is already out. According to page six, Pete entered the treatment center seeking inpatient therapy to address ongoing issues related to post traumatic stress disorder and his previous diagnosis of borderline personality disorder. Another source told People Pete will often check himself in a rehab to work on these issues.

His friends and family have been supportive during the time. In twenty seventeen, Pete revealed his borderline personality diagnosis while appearing on Mark Marin’s podcast. Pete described his extreme mood swings, which he initially attributed to his regular marijuana use, but he was eventually diagnosed with borderline personality disorder of all. Months later, Pete said, I found out. I have BBT beat, said one of my psychiatrists diagnosed me.

He was always saying, before this big meltdown, you’re probably bipolar or borderline. We’re just gonna have to figure it out. Pete also said he was depressed all the time, but praise therapy for helping him improve. It’s working slowly, but surely. I’ve been having a lot of problems.

This whole year has been a nightmare. This year has been the worst year of my life. Again, this is back on Marin. This isn’t last week getting diagnosed with this and trying to figure out how to learn with this and live with this. Earlier that year, he had joked about a sobriety and a stint in rehab on SNL’s Weekend Update.

Head got serious during that segment and said depression affects more than sixteen million people in this country and there’s no cure. But for anybody dealing with it, there are treatments that can help. First of all, if you figure depressed, see a doctor and talk to them about medication, and also be healthy. Eating right and exercise can make a huge difference. Finally, if you’re in the cast of a late night comedy show.

It might help if you know they do more of your comedy sketches. Mornings popped up before the holiday weekend. Kevin Hart has a special on Thursday, What Yeah, reality Check hitting peak on July sixth. I want to play the trailer for you, but Kevin didn’t go more than four or five words without an F bomb, and I try and keep it clean here, so I’ll just have to tell you. In the new special called reality Check, Kevin Hart is as funny as ever as he processes his growing family, fame, mentions on black Twitter, and more.

In the trailer, we see Kevin holding a baseball bat challenging people to rush the stage, and also in the special, we see Kevin say Lebron James real good friend of mine? Well he was. He hasn’t heard this joke yet. We’ll see what happens. Kevin Hart Reality Check Thursday.

Who Knew? Hassan Minaj made a surprise appearance at Stanford’s New York Comedy Club. Ronny Chieng was your headliner, Hassan showed up and opened for him. Chang said the reason that he was there is that he’s work shopping jokes ahead of an upcoming Netflix special. Deana Carvey on his podcast started mocking Anthony Fauci.

Carvey and his co host David Spade started making fun of Fauci’s COVID nineteen guidance. Carvey did a Fauci impression. I won’t do one. But what Carvey said as Fauci, Okay, I’m sorry. If you’ve had two boosters and two vaccines, he can get and give it to another guy who’s had five vaccines and four boosters.

Carvey pretend to be a citizen, asking Fauci a question that question, what’s the difference between a vaccine and a booster? Switching back to the Fauci impression, he said, I don’t know, it’s just more vaccine, but booster sounds better. The Ollywood Reporter spotlighted late night writers who are currently out of work. One is Jesse Joyce, who writes for Jimmy Kimmel Alive. He’s been a comedian for twenty three years, but it kind of stopped doing stand up once it began working on Kimmel in twenty seventeen.

While he’s back and booking shows, he said, there was literally just a strike thing where it was like, oh, I guess I have this skill, I could dust off as the sole provider of income from my family. He admits, it’s super weirds have stand up as your fallback safety net. Joyce recently teamed up with fellow Kimmel writers Troy Walker and Devin Field for three nights in Denver and has a show booked at Kimmel’s Vegas Comedy Club in September with five of the staff writers. He says, Jimmy’s trying to help everybody, noting that Jimmy is letting the writers use the Jimmy Kimmel Alive name, which makes it easier for them to book gigs. Matt Coff is a writer at The Daily Show since twenty thirteen.

He said he’s always had stand up as a side hustle, but he’s pivoted to full time during the strike, getting on stage four to five nights a week and booking road gigs. He said, I haven’t really talked to anybody who’s like, I’m gonna make just as much money doing stand up as I did writing for his successful late night show. The sense I get is that, like me, they’re on a quest for validation, that maybe they’re not getting validation. Did normally get from their late night writing job. Making a joke at a room and getting a laugh could be pretty a pretty good replacement for doing a good stand up set, and vice versa.

I think a lot of people are sort of like me, where they’re like, I don’t really have any other skill, so I gave to stay at home playing the Legend of Zelda, or I could try and get sharp with my joke writing. And at the Cubs game last week, Jim Gaffigan saying, take me out to the ball game. I’m gonna let that wrap up the audio for today, so I’ll say goodbye before you hear Jim sing for two and a half minutes. You can follow the show for free on Apple Podcast, Spotify YouTube. Normal episode tomorrow.

I’ll have a nice Fourth of July. And here’s Jim. Take me out to the ball game. Commedia author and a coggling native Jim Kiffigan and three of us kids. He comes stands I want to hear you if you want some runs, I want to hear some singing.

Do you want some runs? Then stand up? They follow the leader A one, A two, A three, Take me out to the ball game, Take me to the ground, bind me somepy nuts and berg own root root root for the car. Everything you say, forge one, two, three strikes you around, Cats runs there, mighty, throw that out there, Throw that out there? Tom Papa believes people who don’t laugh are living under too much pressure and taking life too seriously, which concerns him and suggests something may be unhealthy about their relationships or lifestyle.

Is cancel culture real according to Tom Papa?

Ahmed Ahmed refused to change his name even though casting directors told him to, because he was stubborn about his identity and believed that changing his name would perpetuate the stereotyping that limited him to terrorist roles.

The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News from Scary Mommy. Lean Morgan said, when I was selling jewelry in women’s houses like Mary Kay and Tupperware, I was booking so far in advance that the big company noticed and asked me to speak at their regional rallies. So I’d breastfeed a baby on the toilet at the Opera Land Hotel and then hand the baby over to my mom and I’d go up on stage. She talked about how fast her kids grow up and said, I’d tell people anybody to enjoy it because it goes by like that.

I have children that are no longer toddlers, and I agree wholeheartedly. Everyone will give you that same advice. She’s right, Leanne said. Then all of a sudden, there you are in your gown watching the third hour of the Today Show because you don’t have to take anybody to school. Salon talked to Tom Papa about his new book, and they were like, hey, Tom Papa.

In the book, you talk about how it’s a red flag when people don’t laugh. That reminds me time out, Time out of time out. Tom. I have in the past mentioned specifically on one of Tom Papa’s specials that he was getting a lot of claptter, So just catch everybody up. What clap heer is is when a comedian does like a big segment and the audience doesn’t actually laugh.

They clap to be like, Okay, we appreciate what you just said, but we’re not actually laughing, which seems weird to me in a comedy show, and Papa has suffered from that in the past. Mark Marin on his podcast last week talked about that, and even Maren said that he’s noticing more and more it’s hard to get an actual laugh, So if audience has changed. Maren kind of got into a little bit saying, maybe there’s so much Netflix comedy now that people have just seen so much comedy and they’re getting I have this. I call this the Emperor of Rome syndrome. So what’s that, Johnny Mac if you’re a new listener.

I ran serious XM comedy for ten years. So for ten years I’d be at work and I would have the radio stations on all day every day, so eight nine hours a day, plus listening on my commute, plus listening in the car. Right, so I listened to a lot of comedy, and what happens over time is you get numb to it and you do this thing that the comedians in the back of the room do. And I’ve spoken to comics about this where I’m going to be up on stage and you’re analyzing it and you’re like, oh, that was really funny. Oh awesome, callback, Oh great set up there.

Oh I love what you did. But you don’t actually laugh anymore. It’s terrible. Anyway, Maron got into that on his podcast that came out last Monday. Tom Popa has talked about it in the book, and Tom said, when people don’t laugh, it terrifies me.

Before I was a comedian. As a kid, I would see people that didn’t laugh, or teachers that never laughed, and it was like, something’s wrong here right now with my kids, will meet these other parents that your children. You realize that the husband doesn’t laugh, the wife never laughs. What’s it like living in there? There’s no release valve.

You’re taking everything too seriously. It’s got to be a pressure cooker. Makes me very, very uncomfortable. I don’t understand that way of living. So you just brood over it and have real, honest conversations every night.

They asked Tom if he’s feeling the pressure not to offend anyone, and this cancel culture, it’s cancel culture even a thing, right. Every comedian’s like, there’s no cancel culture. And Dave Chappe’s playing arenas Papa said. Look, if you’re a comedian and you have your audience, you could say whatever you want. You can do whatever you want.

Your audience considers the source. They know when you’re joking. They know that this is an idea that’s just trying to push us further, and we all find funny and we’re all grown ups about it. So when you attach us some corporation, if you have a show on NBC, if you’re being hired by a company in a studio, then you’re in trouble. I’ve watched a lot of people get shows taken away, a lot of people you don’t even hear about.

There’s the big cancelation, but then there’s a whole other level of being canceled quietly you don’t even know, and you don’t hear because of one joke. They end up in trouble and have projects taken away, and it’s pretty terrifying interesting. Tom POMPA very interesting. The good thing about the moment, though, is you don’t need those corporations. So all these comedians you notice are starting their own podcast, starting their own networks, writing their own material, going out and performing.

If you’re not beholding to a company that’s frightened and hasn’t figured out how to make an adult stand and there’s playing to the whims of a few people complaining, that’s when you run into trouble. So all these comedians, now we have the freedom to speak, we have to do it on your own terms. Good Morning America asked Kevin Hart. Hey, how do you stay motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle? Kevin Hart said, working out started off as just something to do to try and get in shape, but it’s become pretty much a part of my life.

So when it comes to health and wellness, it’s now embedded in me. It’s assist them a structure that I live by, stay true too, and ultimately helps me stay focused. The level of focus comes from the structure of the system. I stayed true too for probably roughly about the last seven eight years. Kevin, you have any tips for finding time when you’re on the gone?

Kevin said, you’ve got to have a moment where you can kind of black out, and block out meaning taking time to clear your head, being your own thoughts, being your own space of happy, whatever that might be. I think it’s different per person. For me, just a nice little quiet hour where I can close my eyes. Honestly, a lot of that time takes place in the gym. Putting yourself in an environment where you get the best out of yourself is where you find the best moments for yourself.

Lots of water, a lot of water. Ahmed Ahmed talked about getting in a comedy and said, I started going to movies. One of the first movies I ever saw as the kid was Rocky and I remember coming out of the movie theater feelings so inspired, just so full of life, and I thought, wow, movies could really move you. And so entertainment was kind of the direction I wanted to go in because I enjoyed it so much, the entertainment aspect of it, not the glitz and the glamor in the Hollywood toxicity, not even the money. Really, it was more about entertaining people, making people laugh.

Like Dan had a great sense of humor. He always cracked jokes. He was always the guy in the wedding or the birthday party, or the dinners or even the funerals, in the corner of smoking a cigarette holding court. Maybe that’s where I got it from. I’m atm.

I had talked about breaking in Hollywood, saying when I started, for about seven years, I took every role that was coming at me, the terrorist in this, in that movie. They were cool projects. I got to work with Kurt Russell and Halle Berry. I was in on these big action movies that took place on a plane or a train, and I was always the bad guy in the back, holding the gun and screaming and stuff like that. And I started getting a lot of backlash, including from my own community.

I’d get a lot of haters from the Arab and Muslim world saying, why are you doing this. You’re perpetuating stereotypes. You should be taking roles like that. And I thought, but if I don’t take this role, they’ll give it to a Simon guy or a Mexican guy. I played every terrorist role you could imagine.

I was the go to terrorist for a while. At one point I called my agent and said, can I audition for the friend? Can I audition for the police officer, the teacher. And they’d say, no, change your name, is what they’d tell me. I said why and they said, casting people in Hollywood is in a box and they just see your name.

I said, if my name was Joe Smith, they wouldn’t know where I was from. I refused to change my name. Was really stubborn about it. I said, call me if you have anything other than these terrorists. Rolls the phone stop bringing and ran out of money and I went back to waiting tables.

Wow. Nola dot com caught up with Jean Marcos Serresi. He was one of the new faces at Montreal JFL last year and in my opinion killed it was the best of the twenty comics I saw that night. He’s got a special called shelf Life, filmed a few years ago in an outdoor show when Williamsburg, Brooklyn for a small masked audience grouped in pods. Remember the pandemic that was the thing that happened.

Yes, Jean Marco says. Those shows were soff shows a big open fields where dogs are running around. There were date time shows and I’m doing Catholic priest jokes. There were shows in parking lots for people staying in their cars honking their horns instead of laughing. But he did do some pandemic material.

This is pretty good. I had a roommate who I didn’t really know, and whenever he came back to the apartment was like accusing your ax of having an affair. You’re like, where have you been? Did you wear a mask? From The New York Times, a little Amsterdam improv club launched big American careers.

Seth Myers, Jordan Peel, Amber Ruffin, and some of the ted Lassos owned their comedy chops at the United States at Boom Chicago. The Times right. Seth Myers had no idea what to expect when he got a job in nineteen ninety seven performing at a comedy club an Amsterdam called Boom Chicago. Seth said, I knew not one thing about the Netherlands. My first thought was to get some good hiking shoes, I guess because I thought I was going to Switzerland.

And then I showed up literally in the flattest place I ever lived. While the place is celebrating their thirtieth anniversary and from the fifth through the sixteenth, it’s the Boom Chicago Comedy Festival. Your Headliners July sixth, Brendan Hunt you know Coach Beard from Ted Lasso July sixth and seventh, Seth Myers U thirteenth, The Dutch Comedy All Stars July fourteenth, Best of LA Comedy Showcase. Imagine going there and going in LA Showcase. This is for the locals.

Don’t be caddy, Johnny Mac Oh July sixteenth, at the show called f Mary Killed. Do you know that game? That’s where you picked three people and you realize which one you’d like to marry, which one you’d like to be cozy with, and which one you would kill. It’s a brutal game. The club now has its own theater in the center of Amsterdam, and it’s still what it was at the beginning of venue for two hour improv and sketch comedy shows by five performers who engage in comedic games and stunts based on audience suggestions.

The founders were inspired by Chicago. In the eighties, they attended late night improv sets at Second City. In nineteen ninety two, they took a trip to Amsterdam and they visit a coffee shop. One of the city’s legal marijuana cafes. They said, we had one of the best stoner ideas ever, which was to quit our jobs in America and come here and start a comedy club.

A city clerk said, your idea won’t work. Dutch people don’t want to see a show in English. Tourists don’t want to see a show at all. You know that actually sounds like good ways to me. But they did it anyway, and now we’re thirty years later.

Seth Meyer said, we got to be on stage four or five nights a week, and that was never happening for us in Chicago.

Also, we got to be in Amsterdam in our early twenties.

Amber Ruffin said at Booms Chicago, the learning curve is steep man, but once you get it, it’s the most funny person can have. It was the perfect place for young person to learn, the perfect mix of partying and then having to deliver. Seth said of the Dutch, they don’t give it away for free. It’s not really a language barrier, but I think they just are discerning. I have a great affection for the audiences I had there because it is the truest balance you are ever gonna get.

Brendan Hunt liked it because in Chicago, if you have a bad show, you have to wait a week to get the taste out of your mouth. At Boom, you have another show the next night. It sounds like a lot of fun, and I am bookmarking that to talk about, especially with that July sixth start date, because you know here in the States after July fourth, there’s gonna be a little lull in the comedy news. So I having something to talk about on the sixth, seventh, and eighth is gonna come in quite handy for Johnny Mac.

Questions Answered in This Episode

How did Hannah Berner get into comedy?

Hannah was working a nine-to-five job selling T-shirts at age 25, which made her depressed. She realized she needed to make a change and started manifesting work in video, eventually becoming a video producer, appearing on Summer House, and now doing comedy and podcasting with 2.6 million TikTok followers.

What is Hannah Berner’s most viewed TikTok video?

Her most viewed video has 33 million views and features her asking women about how often they shave, discussing topics that women are typically scared to talk about publicly.

What does Roy Wood Jr. think about the future of late night TV?

Roy believes late night TV will need to evolve post-strike to be cheaper and faster to produce, and that the traditional format with glitzy sets and desks may be on its way out as streamers and networks cut costs.

How has The Daily Show evolved over time?

Under different hosts like John Stewart and Trevor Noah, The Daily Show has shifted to use more sketches, internet content, and adapted to how people consume news differently across multiple platforms rather than relying on one news source.

What impact has Fortune Feemster’s visibility had on audiences?

Fortune has helped people come out by being visible representation—fans have revealed they’re gay for the first time to Fortune, and parents have used Fortune’s comedy specials to help their children feel accepted, while also educating straight audiences about the difficulty of coming out.

The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy. Knew who is? Hannah Burner spoke to Elite Daily, who asked, Anna, hey, your comedy videos of Take It Over, TikTok. You’re on tour now for stand up.

Was there one specific moment where you knew you wanted to switch to comedy full time. Hannah said, it definitely came from a really dark time. I was twenty five and selling T shirts. The nine to five was making me really depressed on it. Panicked.

I realized it couldn’t be the rest of my life and I’d have to make a change. I knew I wanted to be on camera. For a lot of women, it’s looked down upon. I want to be seen and take up space. But I realized if I didn’t do it, I was going to be sad my whole life.

So I started manifesting working in video. Soon I started as a video producer, and then I was on TV in Summer House. Now I’m in my silly goose error with comedy and podcasting. Hannah’s account has two point six million followers. Has the response been in the comments?

Hannah said, for the most part, the comment’s been pretty great because it’s clear that everything I’m posting is comedy, so people are just reacting to that. But when it goes two viral, the in cells find the video and start commenting women aren’t funny. It’s a little scary, like what sign period of weed? You could say you don’t find my video funny, but we have to put the blame on an entire gender. Dumt bring all women into this good question.

Here have the crowds of your show’s changed since you started going viral on TikTok? Hannah said, it’s crazy because the TikTok algorithm is so good. It really finds some people who not only have a similar sense of humor, but could also be my friends. I’m very biased, but the girls would come to my show were all hot, successful, cool, self deprecating anxious girlies. Hey, if I were thirty years younger, I’d hit the show.

I feel like I’m at brunch talking to my friends now because I’ve been joking more about boyfriends and dating a lot. More men have been coming to shows because they love getting made fun of.

Also, they probably heard all the women cover of the show are hot, successful…

I love that. I think the audience is more fun when it’s a mix, because there’s tension and chemistry to work off. I asked men questions that make them uncomfortable. That was the premise at first. Once I got started, my female friends called me out and we’re like, hey, you gotta stop posting dudes.

What about supporting other women? Then I realized these girls are willing to talk about really embarrassing stuff too. My most viewed video on TikTok, with thirty three million views, says, the middle aged dude sitting in his basement is me asking women and how often they shave? You know, things you would shave. How do you see real women in the street discussing that?

John read the articles in advance, so that doesn’t happen to you. So with the men, it’s a little bit more about making fun of them. For women, it’s focused on the stuff we’re usually scared to talk about. Roy Wood Junior had told Salon that Late Night needs innovation. I don’t think the way we’ve constructed Late Night will continue to be the way we see a post strike.

There’s gonna be a lot of cuts. In my opinion, I suck like that, But I’m a realist. The idea of having a daily conversation about the things that have happened in the country and are happening, or holding people in power accountable, that avenue is still viable. How you present that has to evolve in a way that I’m guessing needs to be cheaper and faster to be truly resonant with people. I’ll jump in.

I’m shocked none of the streamers have started putting on a traditional eleven thirty type show at like eight, like Fallon. I think tapes at five thirty. You could have that ready for eight o’clock and put that up or I’m surprised there’s not like a Netflix version of like a daily I guess they’ve tried Chelsea Hammer, right. I feel like there’s a market there anyway. Roy Wood says, you just gotta be real.

If you stopped doing James Corton, James Cordon leaves right, then you replace them with a game show at midnight, which was a hit for Comedy Central. It’s perfectly fine program, but it’s way cheaper to make than James Cordon. So that tells me you’re trying to cut costs. If you’re trying to cut costs. Then that means that all this glitz in the band and the desk and all that we might be looking at the last of the Mohicans.

On that, I’m talking Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Colbert, you know what I’m saying. The idea of having a daily conversation about the things that have happened in the country. Our show shoot at five, six o’clock in the evening. They are at eleven thirty. News changes faster than that.

Now you almost have to go like nine o’clock or live. If you’re making Tomorrow’s Internet Today, which is a lot of late night in summer regards, then we have to figure out a way to do it in a way where the conversation truly resonates with people immediately. I don’t know what that looks like yet. I think that’s why I’m also trying to spend my time ideating. Roy said, we could come back from the strike and Comedy Central can do the Daily Show.

It’ll be perfectly fine. How’ll work. But I just feel like after every strike there’s a creative molting that happens within the street, especially on the unscripted side. You got to be ahead of the curve on that the Daily Show itself is an institution. It’ll evolve.

I don’t think the Daily Show is going anywhere. I think it’s too important a piece of comedy Central and Paramount. It still has a lot of worth. We get a lot of great guests, but what will it look like? From John Stewart to Trevor, the major change in the way we were thinking.

We used sketch a lot more. We use the Internet a lot more. Trevor’s younger Trevor understood that Trevor was plugged in. John Stewart wasn’t. Really they had to drag him onto Twitter.

I love him, but he knows that’s the truth. Trevor came in and figured out, Okay, this could be four minutes of camera segment of me just going or we canna let Clepper, Roy and Dull say do a sketch that says the exact same thing. Then the sketch is something that people digest more. It’s a good stuff from Roy, very insightful. Obviously he’s worked on the show for quite some time and understands it.

He continues, when the Daily Show was created, the way we got the news collectively as a society was all the same. We all got our news from mf or at a desk with a suit and some whiskey under the table. We all got our news ninety five percent of us, So you could parody that and it’d be a perfect one to one. We got our news from all over the place. Now the way we got our news looks a million different ways.

People don’t even care if you have a suit on or not. I can go on TikTok right now, and right there I get to give his name, but it’s a dude with a beard. I know that’s not enough a description. Thanks Roy from the Sydney Morning Herald. Fortune Feemster said, I didn’t have representation growing up, and it did affect me coming out later on.

Maybe if I’d had representation it would have been different, you know.

And now that I get to be the representation that I so wished I had when I was…

The Morning Herald writes off at a fan will approach Fortune to reveal for the first time that they’re gay, the fact that they’ve never told a single person ever, but now they’re telling me I’m like, Holy cow, I can’t believe I’m part of this person’s coming out story forever. I really take that to heart. I’ve had parents tell me they’ve had inklings and their kid being gay, so they watched one of my specials with them to show that they’re cool with it, and then the kid felt comfortable enough to come out. I even had a straight guy I call in on a radio show to say he had never really thought about how difficult it was for a gay person to come out, and it really made him understand that in a new way. Of course, I started crying.

Alex Edelman is the star of the one man show Alex Edelman Just for Us that’s now on Broadway. He spoke to CBS and said, you think of an idea for show. Don’t make it a musical about the guy from the ten dollar Bill or a play about salesman dying. Those ideas taken. Come up with something original.

For me, it was pretty easy because my show is based on something that happened to me, which is I went to a meeting of white nationalists, uncomfortable a little given that I’m a Jew, but good for comedy. So step one, think of your show then get it to Broadway. That part’s less easy. Here’s how I got mine. First, I put up the show on a pub behind a London shoe store.

Then I worked it out in smaller venues and at festivals. That took about three years. The thing about getting a show to Broadway, if you really want to get it there, you have to think it’s never going to get there. You have to love your show. I’d be happy to perform it anywhere you can, unless you’re Andrew Lloyd Webber.

He needs a big stage. All those cats aren’t going to fit in a pup behind a shoe store, are they. Anyway, The show went up off Broadway, and believe it or not, sold out like one hundred and sixty shows in a row, mostly because of the New York Times and Sarah Jessica Parker saying nice things. A year later, I found out it was going on Broadway, and I thought, oh, maybe now my uncle will stop asking me about law school. What’s it like being on Broadway instead of off?

It feels absolutely the same, except not at all. First of all, it’s literally the nicest theater I’ve ever been to. The seats are for human size butts. Second, of all, it’s Broadway. As for my show, it’s about killing a mockingbird, and they say it’s just kidding.

As I said earlier, it’s a solo show and it represents a lifelong dream coming true. See you there, Gummy Bears or eight Bucks. That’s your comedy news for today. Follow the show for free on Apple podcast, Spotify, YouTube, wherever you get your shows. See tomorrow.

The Shark Deck. I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Very very robust for Friday and a holiday weekend. Lots to tell you about.

Also looking ahead to the four day weekend.

The episodes of this podcast pretty strong. I’ve got the scripts written and I’m about to record them all as I can get myself a little poolside time this weekend. But I’ve got good stuff all weekend. Don’t miss it. I do want to comment.

Yesterday I kind of slept on this. I was so excited Jim Gaffagan as a new special. I slept on the title Dark Pale Jim just enough with the Pale variations, The Jim Specials two thousand and six, Beyond the Pale, Okay, Fine King Baby two thousand and nine, Mister Universe twenty twelve, Obsessed twenty fourteen, Sinco twenty seventeen, Noble twenty eighteen, Quality Time twenty nineteen, The Pale Tourist all Right twenty twenty, Comedy Monster, and now another Dark Pale one. I don’t know. Jim Vridy caught up with Tom Sagoura.

He’s got that new special coming out in twenty twenty one. After nighteen years in La, Segura and Christina Pizitski moved to Austin with their two young sons. Sagora says he felt like La in mid Bitnamic was falling apart. He tells Variety, I was like the city’s turning into a crap show. About a month later, Christina suffered a fall in their new home.

Sigour it turned it into a bit, which is featured in Tom Segora’s Sledgehammer, out July fourth on Netflix. In Sledgehammer, Sigora recounts his uneasy nine eleven call that night requesting help. He said, I realize it. While what I’m about to say is true, it sounds suspicious, but I gotta say it. So I’m like my wife fell down the stairs where Christina had misjudged to step in the new home.

She got up in the middle of the night to check on one of the kids and broke her ankle and part of her tibia. So what does the title Sledgehammer means? Segora says, Oh, you don’t want to print this in the article, and then he explains it’s a nod to one of the jokes about his wiener. It’s his fifth special right. I knit pitched him gaffing and specials.

What are Tom’s called? I’d like Tom’s completely normal, mostly stories, disgraceful and Ballhog has a two special deal with Netflix. Sledgehammer is the first of the two, and he says it’s fun, it’s outrageous, and I’m sure it’s gonna fend people. But if you’re not doing that, you’re not doing your job. There’s a trailer.

Let’s listen. I have to confess I was very, very excited to call nine one one. Have you ever been excited to call where you’re like, finally a good one? You know, like this is why we play the game. I call, the operator goes nine to one one, and I’m so amped up.

I go get ready. He’s like okay, he goes you need police, fire or paramedic. I go paramedic, but send them all. He was like what happened? And I was like ooh, And I realize that while what I’m about to say is true, sounds suspicious, but I gotta say it.

Tom, like my wife fell down the stairs. That sounds like a lot of fun. That special. I love his delivery, his pacing. He’s just so smooth on stage.

He’s really great. I clipped an F word out of that trailer there, just to be fair to Tom July fourth, that one’s out. Tom’s cohort Bert Kraisher apparently was partying with UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler. Sports Keatia said the two were seen together enjoying a beverage. Chandler poured the beverage and due Craisher’s already full shoe shaped beer glass.

Alrighty, here’s another trailer I’m excited about. Jokeman, a documentary about Jackie Martling. The full trailer is about two and a half minutes. Let me just play the beginning of it. Two of the voices you will hear are stuttering John and Billy West from the Howard Stern Showy sister’s wife, Are you faking it last night?

Now? I always say Jackie made the biggest blunder in show business history. He decided to enter it. Jackie is like the Forrest Gump of the comedy world. How it clectic is Jackie Marley.

He would hang out with Les Paul and less. Famous guitarists in the world love Jackie. Willie Nelson to the sea, look at us forty nine years old, both of us as they got. You know, Jackie was a gymnast when he was young. He was quite the athlete.

You’re ready for action now. Jackie the Joke Man is now seventy five. Was the head writer of The Howard Stern Show for eighteen years. The film will come out on video on demand. It features Jackie’s career from his fledgling days of comedy on Long Island and features contributions from people like Willie Nelson, Penelette Norty Lang.

It is described as a universal story of self discovery, grit and humor, and how humor is the biggest keats to authentic happiness. Jackie’s a good guy. I’m gonna see if I can get him on the podcast Theo Vaughan got up in a little Kurflawful. THEO had Roseanne on the podcast. A clip from the conversation went viral.

In the clip, Roseanne denied that the twenty twenty election was rigged and said that anyone who questioned that should be immediately deep platformed. Then she added that the Holocaust didn’t happen either. Roseanne’s comments about the Holocaust, as well as some other parts of the clip made some angry on social media. THEO Vaughan defended her and said the Roseanne Bara clip was sarcasm. Folks, the clip taken out of a long sarcastic grant she had during our chat.

Can we not recognize sarcasm anymore? Futurama is back, Baby. It’s been off the air for a decade, coming back to Hulu on July twenty fourth. Hulu has released a trailer. Let’s do more audio?

Why not? What back baby? In two seconds, you will collide with your destination child. Use everyone. We seemed to have survived a massive disruption in the fuel of time.

Wait what exactly happened? A new virus has broken out. I’ve developed a test to see who’s infected. You shall this cue? Tip up your nose?

That looks kind of fun. I can’t wait to do it hundreds of time. After a brief ten year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube. It’s full original cast. See that’s good.

Rick and Mori de Solar Opposites and Satirical Spirit Intact. The ten all new episodes of season eleven of Something for Everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while longtime fans will recognize payoffs to decades long mysteries, including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter Box, the secret history of evil robots, Santa, one of My Faiths, and the whereabouts of Kiff and Amy’s Tadpoles.

Meanwhile, there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the futu…

Everyone is back, including John Demacia, who had held out for a little while over money. They settled that, and I think John did get the reason he wanted, if I remember correctly, and Billy West mentioned for the second time in today’s podcast Future. I’m a July twenty fourth and a show I really like on the former HBO Max now called Mix the Other Two. A very funny show, three seasons worth watching. I like it a lot, but season three is going to be the final season, but the reason is interesting.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the ending comes following multiple staff complaints about creators and show uners Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider. Multiple sources involved with the Other Two confirm that the showrunners where the subject of complaints to human resources over behavior on the set and in the writer’s room. They include allegations that Kelly verbally abused writers and overweard crew, and claims that Schneider enabled his behavior. One insider said, there’s a lot of Chris and Sarah in the show. I think a lot of their frustration comes from Nut being on camera.

These are two people who started off as improvisers. This is a show about people who are hungering for fame and their friends and colleagues became well known. It’s a lot like the show Wow. Another source says, other writers tell stories about the other two writers rooms like other people tell ghost stories. Yikes.

Tina Fey gave a speech back in March and joked that the Other Two executive producer Lauren Michaels, was partially responsible for conditioning the pair during their tenure on SNL. Tina Fey said, nobody indulgeous writers like Laurn Michaels. Lauren, You’ve unleashed an army of monsters into the world. You know it, I know it. And the crew of the Other two knows it, And then she said, oh, I was supposed to change that.

I was supposed to change that. That’s inappropriate. Oh well it’s not live streaming. Wow. If you like what I do here, and you know that I’m about to record three or four podcasts in a row, you want my voice to hold up, buy me a coffee this one.

You know how the cups at the donuts chain, they’re a little skinnier at the bottom so they fit in your cup holder. This one has enough coffee to fill the skinny part, but not the big part. And I’ve been doubling up on the coffee all week. There’s some sort of coconut what is it called. I don’t know.

There’s some sort of coconut thing. That’s been my second coffee this week. But normally I get a large iced coffee with caramel and milk. And if you want to support the show, you can buy me a coffee. And buy me a coffee dot com slash Daily Comedy News.

Another way to support the show is become a premium subscriber on Apple podcasts, who get the shows early and commercial free. So on Friday morning, you woke up to quite a few episodes as I was working ahead into the holiday weekend. Again, that’s frictionalist. And the first month is free if you just want to test drive it, or if you’re like I got a long drive for the holiday, let me grab a bunch of episodes and Johnny mc I’ll do the free trial and then I’ll cancel it. That’s fine.

I’m not offended.

Speaking of canceled Amy Schumer, Well, she hasn’t been canceled, but they di…

That was a terrible segue to put inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central. I told you yesterday the day before that they pulled it off Paramount Plus. Well, it’s not going to Comedy Central either, Deadline says. Last year was announced that the episodes would eventually air on Comedy Central once they’d been released on Paramount Plus. Those plans have now changed, sorry.

Amy. Jennifer Lawrence shared an update on the comedy script that she’s been working on with Amy Schumer since first teasing it years ago, back in twenty fifteen. Check your calendars. That’s not five minutes ago anymore, that’s eight years ago. Back in twenty fifteen, Jennifer Lawrence told The New York Times, she was working with Amy Schumer on a screenplay at the time.

She said the script she was writing on just flowed out of us. Well, now she’s saying, well, if you know anything about me and Amy, it’s that we’re lazy. It’s not that it’s off, it’s on. It’s just going on our piece. Lilac Volak on the website Harrets dot Com did not enjoy Amy’s news special, writing six years ago, I wrote a profile on Amy Schumer in this paper, trying to defend her.

Description as the funniest woman in the world. Six years ago was still necessary sometimes it still is today. I hope it’s clear that Schumer’s funny, or at least can be, although this is not the case in her new Netflix show Emergency Contact. Thank goodness, we’ve gotten to the point where a woman can be mediocre, just like any man can, without a complete collapse of all the content linked to her profession, Lilac writes, According to Netflix, Amy Schumer gets real about lasering her face, postpartum sex or baby naming disaster, and chewable viagran this cheekily candid stand up special an actual fact. It’s a tired performance on Autopilot Schumer is doing what she knows how to do, but without a hint of inspiration or added value.

Ouch, no sparkling witticism continues to flicker at the edge of one’s consciousness after the show’s over. Ouch, no incisive insight, a shared ouch, and no moment of learning. Viewers that something real is happening occurs bold and candid. One could respond that it was cowardly and insincere. Mel Brooks turned ninety seventies getting an honorary Oscar.

Those are unrelated things. I said that, as if that was like, oh, you made ninety seven years an oscar. No, no, no, no, you know he had this pretty good career. You’ve heard of this Melbrooks person. Yes, This Oscar was created to honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of Motion picture arts and sciences, or outstanding service to the Academy.

Academy President J Yang says mel Brooks lights up our hearts with his humor, and his legacy has made a lasting impact on every facet of entertainment. This is the second Oscar for mel Brooks. He previously won in nineteen sixty eight for the producers. I hope that he slaps Jimmy Kimmel. Comedian Alex Perlman has one point seven million followers on TikTok and he’s joking.

Yeah, I guess I’m a news guy now. Apparently he was invited by the governor of Pennsylvania to a press conference about the ninety five bridge collapse. He said this on a recent TikTok. He explained the governor’s office said, you know, a lot of people heard about the collapse from you instead of traditional media, So why don’t you come out and stand next to traditional media and give some of the updates. His video, The Morning ninety five Collaps racked up two million views, including clicks from the governor and the presidents of the United States.

Berman said, I’m just some guy, but ABC six says, well, he’s a guy talking, mostly yelling about everything from national issues and politics to superlocal events like the water crisis, the Canadian wildflower air pollution, and Taylor Swift’s South Philly takeover. Sounds fun and an update on my former co worker, Jamie Fox. Actor John Boyega tells Variety, Jamie finally picked up the phone. He’s doing well, and then you know we’re just giving him the privacy and we can’t wait for his return. I gave him the well wishes directly.

I gave him all the well wishes, so I’m just going to be waiting until it comes back out Here is to take your time, Jamie. We love you, bro. I hope Jamie’s doing okay. Like I said, I worked with him for a bit, good guy. Although I do find it worrisome, very worrisome.

I don’t mean this in a gossip way, but I find it very, very surprising they haven’t been able to release a picture of Jamie sitting pool side thumbs up telling everyone’s okay. Just knowing a little about that camp, that there are no photos has me concerned. That’s your comedy news for today. Follow the show for free on Apple, podcast, Spotify, YouTube, or Vigie shows. Like I mentioned, this weekend’s episodes are good.

The Shark Deck. I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Jim Gaffigan announced a new special. Let’s listen to the trailer. Sometimes if people find out I have five kids, they think I’m good at parenting, which is kind of like assuming people with lots of cats are not crazy.

That’s why every dad on vacation looks like he lost a bet if too many kids. But if I did anything about it now, people would get so set. Dark Pale coming to Amazon Prime Video July twenty fifth. It’s Jim Gaffigan’s tenth comedy special. Amazon says it will be available to streaming over two hundred and forty countries and territories.

I was wondering how many countries there are in the world. That territories thing probably bumps the number a little bit. How many countries are there in the world. The Google machine says there are one hundred ninety five countries in the world today. I’m going to guess that these is not available in North Korea, so there must be quite a few territories.

But I digress. Jim Gaffigan is a seven time Grammy nominated comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He will next be seen in Steven Soderberg’s limited series Full Circle, coming to Max and Netflix is Unfrosted alongside Jerry Seinfeld. Can’t Wait. Nate Burgatzy was at the NHL Awards.

That’s the thing. Apparently he’s a lifelong Nashville Predators fan, which I questioned, and then I looked up how long the Predator has been around and how old Nate is, and I went, yeah, I guess he is. I mean, that’s one of those new teams to me. Apparently, Nate had wide eyes as he shook hands in exchanged hellos with country stars and hockey players. He was happy this all took place in Nashville, said, it’s also to be home.

There’s nothing like it. I don’t meet a lot of different people like this. This is a world that I don’t know everybody. So it’s fun that I got to meet some people here. Who is he looking forward to meeting most hockey star Connor McDavid.

He said, I like that kind of greatness. Jay Leno was on Neil Brennan’s podcast. They talked about the Little War There with Letterman. Jay said the time slot belonged to NBC and David kind of piss people off too. You know, I love Letterman.

The thing I liked about it was that I got the ratings and Dave got the critics, and that seems fair. And you know something, if you flipped it, that’d be okay too. I think we both did okay in that way. He and I were the perfect foil for each other, because any time I spent with Letterman, I always left with war material and it came in with w would have a conversation, would both be laughing, and there’s no greater joy than putting something and that Letterman genuinely laughed at. Because Letterman didn’t always find things funny.

Jay lenno’l tell the story that if the Letto version of this is true, this is pretty rotten. Jay said, I remember one time his producer called me. This is when Dave had his heart attack, and they said, please don’t say anything on the tonight show. Just don’t mention it. Don’t say anything.

So I didn’t. Then about ten days later, Letterman says, the only one who never mentioned it is Leno. Own. Jay said, ah, I walked into that. I was set up.

Jay Leno says, to this day, Letterman makes me laugh as much as anybody. Fascinating, character, funny, and there’s a connection we have that I can’t describe. It’s like sex. I don’t care how it works, it works, just leave it. I want to make love.

I don’t want to be a gynecologist. From the Laugh Button, Sony Pictures is making a movie called Dumb Money, based on the anti Social Network book. In the cast Pete Davidson, Nick Offerman, Seth Rogan, Vincent Dinofrio, and a bunch of others. The Laugh Button says it’s a classic David versus Goliath tale. It makes you want to root for the little guys as he watched the story unfold.

Dumb Money in theater September twenty second from Survivor dot Net, Kathy Griffin was showered in applause as she made her long awaited return to the comedy stage after five years. She had been battling lung cancer and had vocal cord surgery, and an Instagram post, Kathy wrote, you guys, I’m so grateful to this audience. I still can’t get over it. My first live show in five years. Over the weekend she had headline the Center Stage Comedy show in Las Vegas.

She wrote after an international political scandal and surviving lung cancer, I finally felt like I was home. In twenty twenty one, Kathy Griffin was diagnosed with stage one lung cancer and underwent surgery. She had half her left lung removed. Her voice was left distorted due to intubation during the surgery, described her voices sounding like Mini Mouse meets Marilyn Monroe. Bad news for Amy Schumer Paramount Plus.

They’ve been cutting shows left and right. I know the Star Trek people are really upset that they got rid of one of the Star Trek shows. Well, Paramount Plus has taken inside Amy Schumer off. Amy was hoping she could score an Emmy nomination, but now the entire series removed from Paramount Plus, including the recent fifth season. I guess it didn’t do too well.

One of the ways you can support the show has become a premium subscriber on Apple Podcastle for five dollars a month, you get the episodes add free end early. And I’m specifically mentioning this today because tomorrow you’re gonna wake up to a whole bunch of episodes. Because Johnny Mac’s hoping not to get in the studio over July fourth weekend, so I’ve been recording ahead. So you know, if you if you’re like, wow, I really wish I had like three or four episodes that’ll listen all at once, good news. You can try out the Premium option on Apple Podcasts for free.

You can get all the episodes and then cancel it. Or if you’re like, hey, I like the show hook Johnny Mac up with five bucks a month, nice frictionless way to do that. I have some other recommendations for you to listen to that I’ve been listening to. I’m catching up on THEO Vaughan’s podcast. Yeah, John Mulaney on a while back now, but you know, scroll down the feeds where it says John Mulaney, that’s a really good listen.

Mark Marin had Kyle Canine on I did an airport run at four in the morning on Monday, and I checked that out. That was very enjoyable. And on the Two Bears podcast, Tom Sagora had Ari Shafiro on that was also a good listen. JFL added a bunch of shows. They didn’t send out a release release, but they sent out this mailer on both on the professional list and the Consumer list.

This from the consumer list, and it’s got a GRAPHICX. So let’s see newly announced Don l Rawlings, Jean Marcos Serresi’s fantastic, adrian Ia Pallucci really fantastic. Don’t sleep on her. She’s like one of my favorites right now. Joel, Nicole Johnson, Debra d Givanni, Robbie Hoffman, Ellie Mkofsky, Ruben Kay, Josie Long, Arthur Simeon Shane, Tourists and Ariel Elias.

Remember somebody threw a beard at her. You know, I said I won’t go because I can’t go on the day of new faces now and tempted to be like, hmm, I wonder when like Jean Marco and Adrian are playing. You can hear I want to go. You can hear it, right, you can hear it. Yes.

John Goodman suggested that the Connors, you know, Roseanne minus Roseanne, that might be coming to an end. Goodman said, it’s lasted longer than I thought we would. It was just supposed to be like an eight episode show. Then they picked us up again. They keep picking us up.

The series been picked up for another thirteen episodes, with an option for nine more twenty two episodes of anything these days. That’s like nine seasons of something on Netflix. Slight exaggeration. The season five finale drew three point six million viewers. I can see why they want to keep this going.

That’s a lot of viewers for not football these days. Executive producer Bruce Helford has hinted that Sarah Gilbert expressed on the network that we didn’t want to go out without knowing that we were going out with a serious finale, so we can build to the right ending. And at this point in time, we feel like next season is possibly going to be the last season of the Connors. I wouldn’t say that definitely because the numbers were so good this season. We’ve all had a really good time, but it’s definitely a possibility.

Hey, guys, never leave a hit show. ABC will negotiate with you. Tell them, you know, do what they always sunny people do. Go Hey, we’ll make six of them and then we’ll take two years off. Don’t walk away from a hit show.

And here’s a note from Deadline. Russell Weisman has been up to chief operating officer at All Things Comedy That’s a podcast network. Okay, congratulations Russell, why are you mentioning it, Johnny Mac because of the press release with a statement that comes from Bill Burr. And I’m confident Bill Burr said these exact words in this exact way, all right, time out symes of experience here. I’ve seen my share of press releases where the publicist writes a quote and then asked the person who supposedly said the quote and goes, oh, you okay with this, and the person just say yeah, whatever.

I can’t imagine Bill Burr actually said these words, but maybe I’m wrong. Quoting Bill Burr, Bill Burr said at All Things Comedy, We’re very excited to announce Russell Weisman’s promotion to CEO. He has been one of the driving forces behind our growth since starting at ATC. We’re looking forward to continuing to grow our podcast platform with him in this new position. Thank you, Bill Burr.

The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. You probably saw John Maliney in the episode title. I will do that story at the end, so I don’t spoil a heck out of that episode. So Pete Davidson he gets a new season for Bupkiss.

One of the suits over at Peacock said Pete Davidson is a once in a generation talent. What he created with the first season of Books absolutely blew us away. Pete has the rare ability to make you laugh out loud with this unfiltered brand of comedy and then tear up with his raw and honest vulnerability. We could not be more proud to continue on this journey with Pete. I’m going to say another name here, and this is a super important name, Lauren Michaels, Broadway Video and our partners at Universal.

Yeah. Basically, if Lauren Michaels were to support this podcast, I’d be on NBC A different suit, said Pete. Lauren and the entire Books team took audiences on a wild and emotionally captivating adventure in season one, from family weddings to drug fueled road trips, etc. Etc. I haven’t really heard anybody who has seen Daniel Feinberg, who writes for The Hollywood Reporter, who I like a lot.

He said, Episode one is terrible and the rest is good. I just haven’t gotten to it yet, but I will. I actually grabbed Peacock. They had one of those deals that was like, I don’t know, I’m exaggerating slightly, but fifty cents for like two years. And I was like, all right, there’s been a lot of talk in the news about Harry and Megan.

You may have heard that Prince Harry and Megan Marko’s spotifying deal ended. Now, aside from me being the writer on a podcast called a Palace Intrigue where we talk about the British royal family every day, why am I bringing this up? So Harry was supposed to do a podcast that he never did. One of the ideas that was considered would have been co hosting a show with Hasan Minhaj. That would have been interesting.

One of the ideas would have been Harry commenting as someone new to living in America. All right, I might have listened to that. The Mantra All Comedy Festival about three weeks away.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the in conversation panels we’ll be having …

In Conversation with romy Yusef. That’s on Saturday, July twenty ninth. Romy in a special will discuss the polarizing, unifying, and contradictory intersections of religion and comedy.

Also on that day, in conversation with Please Don’t Destroy.

You know those guys from Saturday Night Live. They were the best part of SNL this season. They Please Don’t Destroy Trio. Who are Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Hurley. He we should start learning their names.

A bunch of podcasts will be up there, including Jean Marcos Serresi. He was one of the new Faces last year. He was fantastic. Judy Gold’s doing her podcast on Thursday, the twenty seventh. Langston Kerman has won.

He’ll be there on the twenty eighth, Steph Toleev also on the twenty eighth, and Philippe Esparza on the twenty eighth. New Faces will have a bunch of shows much like last year, starting Wednesday, July twenty sixth, going through Friday the twenty eighth. Again, it is killing me that I can’t make it up there this year. If you’re making the trip, I highly recommend do this. This is exactly what I would have done.

And as I mentioned yesterday, I decline my credentials, but if my schedule gets clear, I might, I might, I maybe see I don’t know because I gotta be somewhere else. On the next day, Wednesday at twenty six, New Faces Group one at seven o’clock, New Faces Group two, nine thirty, do those back to back to both shows. You’ll see twenty comedians and you will see the future of comedy. That’s always a great one to do. The next night is New Faces of Comedy Creators.

Tends to me more of like the YouTube TikTok kind of stuff that’s at one in the afternoon. So that alone tells you what chespra Laps thinks of it. If they buried it at one o’clock, seven o’clock New Faces of Comedy Characters, so there are people doing characters, and you know sometimes lets will wind up on Saturday Night Live and Thursday at nine thirty New Faces of Comedy unrepped. That’s a good invitation and if you crush there, you’ll probably walk out with an agent. New Faces of Comedy International on Friday at seven and New Faces of Comedy Friday at nine thirty.

I would love to do those as well, but I cannot this year. Hi Times, your home for comedy news, caught up with Nimish pat Till. He has a special called I Lost My Right Nut and all I got was this stupid special. You’ll find that on YouTube, and it’s about Pittel’s experience being diagnosed with and treated for testicular cancer. High Time said, it strangely made me feel better when you just casually acknowledge we’re all going to die.

Nimes said, yeah, sorry for that bleak outlook. I think when I talk to people who have had actual cancer, and then he laughed, I think they get a little annoyed when it’s treated so casually, but people who have not experienced it or kind of relieved that there’s someone who could talk about it without the woe was meatitude. I’m not saying all cancer patients are like that. I think many people have a better version of my attitude. They’re just not comedians.

I started talking about the fact that my genitals were shaved while I was awake, and that was the funniest part of the whole thing outside of the grand irony. Once the unbelievable thing was out and people were laughing at it, it was easy to realize it was the climax of the set. As long as I happily built towards it, it would be a fun roller coaster ride for everybody.

And now I never have to talk about it outside the stage.

I mentioned at one point the set that the biggest fear that people have survived cancer went through cancer had is social isolation. It’s one of those studies that I read. People who aren’t comedians don’t have the outlets go on stage and talk about it as freely as I do. So they talk about it at places like Chipole with their friends, and that could be burdensome. Luckily for me, I don’t have to bring it up over quacamole.

I could just say it on stage, and when we’re out watching the Knicks, we could talk about how crappy the Knicks are instead of how crappy it is that one of my testicles is gone. It kind of leaves things compartmentalized, which is great. Rob mclenny from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Welcome to Wrexham he and his buddy Ryan Reynolds. Now they’re getting the F one. They’re buying a twenty four percent steak in the Alpine Formula one race team.

One of the other owners part of this thing is Michael B. Jordan. These famous people are paying the Renault group about two hundred million euros for the steak, valuing the racing team at roughly nine hundred million dollars. And at the top I mentioned John Mulaney. Here is the story.

I’m going to spoil the heck out of One of the episodes of FX is The Bear. John Mulaney appears in an episode. I haven’t ruined the episode for you, but John Mulaney appears in it. If you have not seen the episode yet, I recommend you bounce here and definitely watched the episode. It’s the best episode of the season.

But I’ll tell you all about that, okay. His spoilers coming up in three two one. Season two episode six is called Fishes, centering around a Christmas holiday roughly five years before the planned opening of Karmy’s new restaurant, The Bear. He joins his family, which includes his mother Donna, who I didn’t recognize until I looked up Donna again spoilers. Played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

I didn’t even recognize her. John Burnthal plays Michael. That’s Karmy’s brother. The family’s together for the Feast of the Seven Fishes, an Italian holiday tradition in which seven fish dissues are prepared and served. We meet Uncle Lee played by Bob Odenkirk, and then we meet Steve, who’s a close friend of the family, and he’s played by John Mulaney.

Mullaney playing like a nerdy version of himself. Picture if cousin Gregg on succession, We’re played by John Mulaney. That’s what Mulaney’s doing here, with big nerdy like Drew Carrey glasses. Malini gets to give a pretty good speech near the end of the episode, and he’s good in the role. I hope we see more of Stevie.

I thought he was a cousin when I watched it, but he’s just some guy they have over. Okay, that is your comedy news for today. Follow the show for free on Apple Podcasts or Spotify YouTube, wherever you get your shows. See tomorrow. All right, enough with the negativity.

The Shark Deck. I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. A lot of quick hits today, and you can never go wrong with talking about Dave Chappelle. Dave will do another round of Cornfield to Comedy shows July sixth through the eighth in Yellow Springs. Tickets already on sale, probably sold out by the time you’re hearing this.

The shows were approved by the Miami Township Board of Zoning Appeals in early May. The permit application detailed that shows would be limited to one thousand ticket holders and would take place between June first and October eighth. We’ll see if he had some more shows, and we’ll see who else shows up. In the past, some celebrity guests included Chris Rock and David Letterman. John Stewart show up once, so yeah, we’ll see who shows up there.

Kevin Hart spoke to brandt dot Com. They ask Kevin, hey, you work with a lot of brands. Brands today are scared to death of the controversy of comedy when you hit the edges now with the current world we’re living in, does it affect the way you do comedy now? Kevin Hart said, we have to be aware of the times, because do not respect the times and not respect change is just ignorant. I mean times change because it’s necessary and it’s needed.

So the climate and temperature today is well deserved and we need to welcome it, just accordingly, be respectful. I’m a universal effing comedian. I’ve traveled the world telling jokes. There’s not a country or state that I haven’t been to to do comedy. Is that true, Kevin Hart?

Can you show me some clips from your appearance in I Won’t even go to North Korea? Show me when you’d played Moscow? All right, Kevin said, I want to make that very clear. I’ve made people laugh by being myself. I don’t force a narrative.

I don’t create a persona. No, Okay. What brands need the most is relatability. Without relatability, without humor, you have no product. The smartest people in the world listen.

The dumbest people in the world talk a lot. George Lopez apparently working on a Christmas comedy movie being filmed in Wrong Jackson, Mississippi. Where else would you film a Christmas comedy movie starring George Lopez. They’re filming down at bell Haven University. It is called How the Gringo Stole Christmas.

Emily Wilson is a producer and says, George Lopez plays a proud Mexican amer and gardner with a landscaping business, and his daughter brings home kind of a hippie white dude, and hilarity ensues. Lopez talked about filming in Jackson, Mississippi. Nothing really kind of gets done in Hollywood anymore, So to come here double your money because of the tax incentives. I think it’s good for the economy here, and it’s good for people like me who you know, really wouldn’t get to see the beauty of Jackson, Mississippi. Matt Rife made a hilarious comparison between himself and the viral meme kid who took over social media a few years ago.

Fans of Matt Rife have been sharing a picture of him side by side with meme Kid, highlighting their resemblance. Rife points out he’s not actually the meme Kid. The Kings of Late Night are touring. They’re playing Pittsburgh on September first. I’m not sure if this is part of a bigger tour or a one off.

They’re playing the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh Friday, September. First, who are the Kings of Late Night? Well, I will tell you Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, and Craig Ferguson. Those are three really solid comedians. It’s a weird bill.

And what order do you put them in? Jay Leno or Senio Hall, Craig Ferguson. So you have to deal with both ego and flow. Here’s my take. So jay Leno has got to be the headliner there, So I’m guessing Arsenio comes out and does short bursts, Craig comes out and does a middle, longer chunk, and then jay Leno closes.

That’s how I do it. But Jay Leno or Senio, Craig Ferguson, what order would you put them in? The National Comedy Center in Jamestown is open to a new exhibit honoring the recently closed New York City comedy club Carolines on Broadway. The exhibit features artifacts from the club, featuring the state backdrop, showroom curtains and signage, entry doors, and bar fly stools. Hey, I love Carolines.

They were always good to me. Did some business with them back at Series sex Am. I mean I was never there and be like, wow, look at that stage backdrop, or these stools are awesome. So you know, if you’re going to the Comedy Center anyway, you can check it out. I’m not sure I would make that seven hour drive from New York City to see bar stools used to me on Broadway.

Jay Farroh has announced he’s taping a new special, this one in Chicago’s ware Park neighborhood at the Heath Main Stage. He’ll record two performances Saturday, August twenty sixth. No word on what the distribution. There will be moamare as a new podcast called Joking Not Joking. He and his co host are joined by guests like Rami Yusef, and they asked the big questions the modern world makes you forget.

Are we living in a simulation? What is money? What is life after death? They get real when it gets uncomfortable and funny when it gets serious. Fortune Feamsters spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald about when she got engaged to her girlfriend Jack Smith, to try to get the hotel involved to allow staff to convertly decorate their room.

Feamster took Smith to an upmarket restaurant when they got back to the cabin, there were mounds of wilted rose pedals, seemingly arranged with a leafblower. Electric candles flickered feebly, while a roaring fire melted the chocolate off the strawberries and brought the champagne to a simmer. Fortune was like, this didn’t work out. Just threw open her arms and said you want to She got a yes. She laughed, said I paid all this money for an ocean view, but there was so much fogg and rain you couldn’t even see in front of your hand.

It was like throwing money into a fire pit. But luckily Jackson did say yes. May Martin spoke to the l eight times. May is used to being modified, they say, and that’s evolved as I have evolved. Your career started at age thirteen, and they say it was teenage comedian, female comedian, lesbian comedian, bisexual comedian and now non binary comedian.

Rob Schneider in the news he had that special on Fox Nation. Well now he is backing Robert F. Kennedy Junior in RFK Junior’s bid to be the Democratic nominee. I’l cahol time out Here Look Comedy and politics are going to intersect, and in this specific case, if a comedian is clearly endorsing candidate, it’s in the news. I will talk about it.

You can decide for yourself if you would like to vote for mister Kennedy or a different candidate. Time back in, Schneider appeared alongside Kennedy in a smiling photo that Schneider posted on Twitter on Sunday. He wrote, inspiring, hopeful, ragis and most importantly, like his father, compassionate. He called it an honor to support Kennedy. You may want to check out RFK Junior’s recent appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, which got a lot of attention.

Just for last Montreal is just under a month away. I have had to make the decision that I can’t go this year for personal reasons, and I got to be in nine places at once, and I just I can’t do it, and it’s killing me. I still might change my mind about it and go as a civilian, but I turned it down credentials this year. It’s killing me. Here are some of the panels July twenty seventh, the cast of Killing It.

That is a show on Peacock, which is why you’re probably like, what’s killing it? That panel features Craig Robinson, you know Craig from the Office. Another panel on Wednesday, the twenty sixth, this one about This Fool. That show was on Hulu and stars Chris Astrad and Frankie Kenyonius. He probably came along that when I sampled it a little bit and just wasn’t grabbed me told you about this one.

I think over the weekend, the new sketch troupe the Desserts, they’re getting a panel. This is the one executive produced by Bruce mcclough from Kids in the Hall and New Topic Bad News. If you like Jury Duty, you’re not getting not actual journey duty. Nobody likes that the TV show Jury Duty. Did you watch it?

Pretty funny? It’s on free v which go on your Amazon Prime thing and they’ll put it in front of you. Definitely worth watching, but no season two. The co creator says, I think we have to put that to bed. We kind of caught lightning at a bottle and I don’t know how we could ever top it, So I think we just have to do something else entirely.

But as far as Jury Duty is an institution, I don’t think we can. And that is your comedy news for today. The Shark Deck Johnny McK with your Daily Comedy News. Remember the story John Mlaney told in which he was so desperate for drug money he bought a new rolex for twelve thousand dollars on his credit card sold it immediately for six thousand dollars cash. While John was on the Hollywood Reporters podcast Awards Chatter and added some details to that story. Mullaney said, I put three grand in an apple shopping bag. Apparently Mlaney threw three thousand dollars of the cash away.

Mlaney said, I put three grand in an apple shopping bag. I thought I must have thrown that apple bag away. I was in a twenty floor apartment building in the West Village back then, and I went through almost all the trash of the basement didn’t find it. Later in the podcast, Mlaney does a somber tone and does an impression of what the same story would sound like if he told it in the style of a confessional comedy special, saying, I didn’t want to make this laugh heavy as possible. I didn’t want to tell the story of you know, and there I was selling a watch I just bought, and I felt so small.

I didn’t want to have that tone. You know, I really want to present these stories almost as if I were proud of them, because at that moment I was. I made sixth grand in cash by only spending twelve grand. I’ll put it in an apple bag, don’t worry about that. Mullenny was asked if he would ever consider hosting the Oscars, and he said, sure, why not, It’d be really fun so hosting the Academy Awards.

Johnny Carson did that. Kim was so great, though I’d probably rather watch Jimmy do it than me do it. But imagine that me hosting the Academy Awards me and it sucks right out there. Shout out to Twitter user one dollar, who pointed out that not for the first time nor for the last time, I was pronouncing something incorrectly, and one dollar told me just call it can and I’m like, okay, thank you. So can you know big fancy French film festival thinging Lauren Michaels was out there.

Lauren was talking about SNL’s fiftieth anniversary. The fiftieth season kicks off and fall of twenty twenty four. Some of this we’ve known already. The fiftieth will include a big blowout extravaganza Radio City Music Hall in New York City, which, you know, all things considered not the biggest venue. That show will feed your music and stand up link to the show’s legacy and quote much more.

Lauren says, right now, there’s a Friday event at Radio City, a kind of homecoming night. We’ll have musical acts and stand ups throughout the show. Musical things that the cast have done over fifty years will be live. It’ll probably be streamed because the language won’t be in control, and it’ll take as long as it takes. Michael’s added that the celebrations will be wait for this.

This is the hesitation of my voice tied to the start of the twenty twenty four Olympics in Paris. Before I read ahead, I’m going to guess NBC executives synergy something. Hey, we’ve got the Olympics, so you’re gonna have Mike Tarico forcing some SNL segment that’s gonna just make everybody unhappy. You gotta tune in for the Olympics and there’s gonna be Will Ferrell stop John Okay. Laurd says there are some documentaries being made that’s awesome about the show’s anniversary, and that planning has been underway for six months despite the event being a year and a half away.

It’ll be emotional, but everybody will show up because it’s important. Lauren is hoping before they do the fiftieth season, there’s a forty ninth season, you know, Riders Drake. Lauren said, I’m obviously a supporter and I hope it gets resolved, but that decision will get made probably on the West coast. Lauren minds everybody for the big party, no plus ones allowed. From band dot com.

Kevin Hart shows Ken why he’s the most drumming man alive. You can kind of hear me if you listen every day that I’m starting to turn on Kevin. That comment the other day about Brands Wortley like family or whatever the heck he said was that just sounded psychopath to me. So here we go, Kevin selling all the Kevin Hart products again. The interviewer said, you basically have seventy projects in development at Heartbeat, your production company.

You’re basically working with every entertainment company, and you have four kids. How do you do what you do? Kevin Hart? This first sentence makes me want to throw up my red garbage can here in the basement, Kevin said. First of all, amazing question to start off, Kevin said, had The answer is very simple.

The foundation of Kevin Hart is not just Kevin Hart. I would not be able to do manufacture, shape, mold, create any things I have now without the ecosystem and the personnel underneath. The team is responsible for so much of that. The interviewer then name checked Snoop Dogg, and Kevin said, I love Snoop Snooping myself. We did an amazing collab together.

For me, money is not attractive. I say this humbly. I don’t need the money. What I need is longevity and a commitment. It would much rather a contract for heartbeat that secures me in a position aim to create advertising material where creative material that best tells your story and amplifiers your work.

I read the sentence correctly, I checked myself. I don’t understand the sentence either. In year one, year two, we did great. For the year three, year four, we can do better. Yeah, who reports Matt Rife isn’t actually a fan of TikTok.

I was in the car the other day with my daughter and I’m like, you know Matt Rife and her generation. Oh, they know Matt Rife. Matt says, I hate social media. Oh, by the way, can I jump in? I hate the Internet.

So I repost the podcast on YouTube and I noticed one episode was doing extremely well. I’m like, hm, so I went to which episode is it? And I went and I looked, and it was one that didn’t have the best headline. It was Sarah Silverman not interested in hosting the daily show. You know, a generic you know, Monday kind of topic.

All right, whatever. But when I picked the thumbnail, did I take a picture of Sarah that was quite flattering, say in the chest inch area? Sure? I did, and boy off to the races. You could sit here and do the most amazing journalism handing the best thing, or you know, post a thumbnail with some boobs you get some downloads.

I hate the internet. To Matt Rieve says, I hate social media. But as he watched other comedians gain steam on TikTok, he said, I was like, how long can you go against the green and it not work? I can answer, Matt four years at least. I think sometime this week is the fourth anniversary of the podcast.

I have to go back and look. I can’t quite remember if I started at the end of June or the end of July, Matt Rieves said. Despite a twenty twenty one and twenty twenty three comedy special and a very high profile twenty seventeen romance with Kate Beckinsale, Rive said, this time last year, I was doing shows for like twenty to thirty people at night, losing money to travel. Social media changed everything for me. I mean just in the past ten months.

Everything is shifted because of clips online, but for the past two three years when everything was kind of exponentially growing towards social media for stand up, luckily it changed everything. Maybe I’m just a voice for a younger generation. There’s not a lot of people at my age I’ve been doing it as long or have the experience that I have. So maybe that’s finally showing through a little bit. Or it could be my face, it could be the way we do captions on videos.

Who knows. I’m just happy people like it. One fan, Christina, attended a show of his in Iowa and brought a T shirt with a picture of mouth stuff. Matt said she was the hottest mom ever in the middle of Iowa, where I didn’t even know they made hot moms. She talks about how hot her daughter was.

Creepy, and we facetimed her daughter on stage. It was absolutely incredible, and he stayed in touch with Hot Mom. She’s a good support. She comments on all my videos and she’ll DM me on TikTok or something, just congratulating me on the tour. She has been so much fun.

I’m creeped out here Hot mom with mouth stuff shirt talking about how hot her daughter is. Weird, weird, weird, weird, weird weird. Matt says the experience of connecting with audience members isn’t foreign to him, as he always does crowd work. It’s something I completely understand. I’ve noticed that I’m a lot of people’s first introduction to comedy.

If you want Matt’s attention, here’s here’s advice. It’s really the person who tries to yell out and get attention. Who’s the most funny person I have an interaction with. It’s always the most reluctant person in the front row. You least expect to have a crazy story about them.

If you’re just patient, sit back and relax, it’ll unfold naturally, I promise controversial music group I think it’s pronounced kot Kount and the Gang Kunt Kunt right, Yes, koont In the Gang have released a new song about Philip Schofield. You know, if you’re a yank like me, you’re like, who’s that? Well, Wikipedia tells us. Philip Ryan Scofield is an English television presenter. He rose to prominence as a children’s BBC Continuity presenter from nineteen eighty five to nineteen eighty seven, hosted a bunch of other things.

In twenty twenty, Schofield came out as gay and separated from his wife of twenty seven years, and May twenty twenty three admitted to having an extra marital affair with a male I TV employee. All right, that’s the setup here. Let’s see what koont In the Gang are singing about. Their singles called Bum the Runner. It’s now available on various platforms, including Spotify.

The lyrics include he jumped the queue to see the dead queen. That’s not the worst thing he’s done. If you see what I mean, He’s been sacked from his job. On this morning for teenage boys, he should come with a warning that’s koont In the Gang. Did you see the Beetlejuice Musical?

It was so good. Unfortunately the Broadway production has ceased, but Beetlejuices Alex Brightman will join Chicago Med’s Colin Donnell and they’re gonna play Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider In the Jaws comedy The Shark Is Broken. Ian Shaw will play his own father, Robert Shaw. The Shark Is Broken as a play written by Ian Shawn Joseph Nixon, directed by Guy Masterson. It is a comedic exploration of the behind the scenes drama that took place during the filming of Jaws.

Bruce McCullough you know him from Kids in the Hall, is teaming up with Max Kerman. You may know him from Canadian rock band r Kellis. They’re producing a sketch comedy show. The Desert premieres on Crave on July seventh. It is heralded as bringing forth the next generation of Canadian comedy.

Little else is known about the show, and down in Sydney, comedian Tom Cashman and two of his roommates have moved out of their apartment. They got a letter from the real estate agent about some ants. Cashman told the story at the Sydney Comedy Festival. He revealed that the agent had deducted ninety nine dollars after sending a pest control to eradicate ants spotted in the kitchen. In the email, the agent old Cashman as roommates was their responsibility to treat or eradicate ants.

Cashman said, I’d never noticed any ants in the place? Is where to God? So I responded asking for some evidence of the ant infestation. Cashman showed an image he was sent of four ants and said, that’s twenty five dollars per ant. That’s your comedy news for today.
