The President of the United States and I don’t agree on all the issues, but one thing we probably agree on is neither of us is interested in watching Rosie O’Donnell host Jimmy Kimmel live. But we might be in the minority. She drew one point eighty seven million total viewers on her first night out last Monday.

That was the biggest audience for any of Jimmy Kimmel’s guest hosts so far this summer. I’ve seen nothing but great buzz about Rosie. Again, not my cup of tea, but people seem to really like the job that she did. Last week, she beat out the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Rosie also won adults eighteen of forty nine, drawing two hundred and eighteen thousand viewers compared to Jimmy’s one hundred and fifty six thousand.

Late Night er tells us all this and they point out online Rosie’s monologue drew two point four million views on YouTube, probably more by the time you’re hearing this, and that was more than twice as many as the most watching monologue from any of Kimmel’s guest hosts this summer. That said, Kimmel’s own monologues routinely top three million views on YouTube, and his live plus same day audiences regularly surpassed two million viewers. Again, Rosie did one point eighty seven, not bad. In the middle of the summer, weird Al did an NPR Tiny Desk Concert. Now, I was on the Internet and I saw somebody surface this and I’m like, Yeah, that’s been around forever.

Why is this a big deal? No, it’s a new one. NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert started in two thousand and eight. Al had an episode in twenty ten. Back then, the show was had a little more indie cred, so Al didn’t do parodies.

He did some original songs, but now as he returned, he did some old parodies. The new set, which is on NPR’s Various Socials, features There’s eBay, which is a parody of the Backstreet Boys I Want It that Way, and the Saga Begins, which is weird Al’s Star Wars song set to American Pie. It is observed that it is possible this is the first time that weird Al has performed the saga Begain in regular clothes, not a Jedi robe. I think over the years, I’ve come to like the pastiches better than his actual straight up parodies.

The New Yorker it took a look at It’s Always Sonny in Philadelphia. I watched the first two episodes of the new season. Thought they were pretty good. Episode one’s better than two, but I did like where they were. His table setting in episode two, and I think it’s going to go somewhere.

They looked back to the early days when they used Glenn Howarden and Charlie Day’s cheap digital cam quarders they were making their home demo then called It’s Always Sonny on tv Fax. Loved the show’s humor, but were worried at the show took place in LA because there were so many shows in LA at that time, so they decided to move into Philadelphia, where Rob Mcalenny now Rob Mack, had grown up. The characters would change from actors to nightlife industry colleagues aka bartenders, and that’s I never knew this. That’s why the show’s called It’s always Sonny in Philadelphia. It’s a joke since the show’s always shot in la except for the occasional episode and some b roll.

But you notice it’s always Sonny in Philadelphia. I love it. I never knew that. That’s a great little tidbit. The New Yorker reminded us.

An early episode featured a jab that Mac Direxit, Dennis and Charlie, which was a commentary about Hollywood’s inability to get Sonny. Max says in the episode, our problem is that we don’t stick to the basic format that gets us in a trouble. They were trying to win the award for Best Bar that was making fun of the show. Never winning an Emmy, it has only received three nominations, all for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Program, and it didn’t win that. A few years back, Charlie Day was one of the presenters at the MBS and said, wait, hang on, have you guys been doing this every single year without us? Good show? I’m glad it’s still going all the so much like me, everybody just looks older now, so you put on an episode and it’s just during Unlike me, I haven’t had plastic surgery.

Millerrick has named the bot g Dog two point zero, he imagines sending in on comedy podcasts instead of himself. He has generated a clip of the avatar performing at the Hammersmith Apollo. Millrek himself has not played there, but he points out a plausible looking Instagram reels worth almost as much as the real thing. Love it. Millerrek asks his avatar to generate a monologue on a theme chosen by the audience, and it falls flat.

Audience members connected to a computer via QR code can register the reactions in real time. One of the jokes got a big laugh, and Millrich said he felt jealous. A couple quick reviews from website entertainment dash now dot com, John Conahan has been hitting some shows. One of the shows he hit was Zoe Woolfield’s Dog Funeral. John writes, I needed ten minutes to calm down after feeling uncomfortably exhausted by the show.

I enjoyed it, believe it or not. He says. Zoe is completely unhinged in this performance, inviting the audience to her dog’s funeral while arriving in a Victorian morning gown paired with the ego of an entitled, psychotic three year old girl. The show starts with a slideshow of different activities she would do with her dog before it died, and she would later quizz you on it by aiming in your face a water gun. I’m leaving that laugh and stumble in because that was natural.

As I read this sentence. Zoe relies on the energy and heckling from the audience to keep the narrative flowing.
