Caloroga Shark Media. Hey there, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. How about that Colbert finale? Huh, let me deal you straight here, I’m in London. Yeah, not really the best time to play on a trip with a major comedy story.

So uh, deally straight. I have pre taped the weekend. I will catch up on Colbert. I did bring my microphone with me. I’ll either do a bonus episode or it will wait till next week.

Now, on tomorrow’s show, I’ve got this piece, this hit piece on Jimmy Fallon that you gotta hear. I already recorded that one. So make sure you don’t skip tomorrow show. Now tonight on CBS, if you put on CBS at eleven thirty five, it’s Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. Yeah, really exciting.

Huh. Now, I just tried to look to tell you which comedians are on Comics Unleach tonight, but the information was not available to me. Stephen Colbert had been asked by the Hollow reporter what he thought about all this. Colbert said, God bless him. I know Byron.

We got to know each other last year. Actually, he’s fascinating Colbert’s next gig is writing a film set in the universe of the Lord of the Rings. He was asked why fans of The Lord of the Rings should trust Stephen Colbert with the keys to the car. Colbert said, I mean, there’s no reason to. There’s no value in me addressing that, because all you can do is, I’ll use a load of term here.

An artist is follow your heart in the craft that you’ve learned to try to turn this into something that is not fandom but drama. Colbert added, Luckily, I don’t have to do this alone. He’s working with Lord of the Rings writer Philippa Boyans, who co wrote all the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings films, and those are beloved. Colbert said, I will just say that every moment has been a joy so far. With the death of The Late Show, there’s also been a major shift in the ice cream universe.

Stephen Colbert has revealed that his nineteen year old signature flavor of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, called the American Dream, is getting a patriotic makeover. In the old packaging, Stephen Colbert wore a talk show host typical suit, but now he’s casual with a button down and no tie. USA Today wondered what could go in the time slot if Comics Unleash doesn’t last. I could see some kind of podcasty thing going there, right, Like that’s the current trend. By the way, which one of us wants to tell Mark Maron he gave up six months too early, like Mark gave up last October, and if he had hung around another three months, he probably gets Netflix money.

Mark, you blew that. Mark, you could come back, you know. I’m not sure that put Mark Maron on at eleven thirty five, but I could see some sort of podcast going on in that slot. USA Today says things are not as simple as ratings, TikTok views and dollars and cents. Whether we tune in live every weeknight or not, late night TV is still one of the biggest places we go to process major cultural moments, from the shooting death of Charlie Kirk to the release of a new Taylor Swift album.

This article brings up the David Letterman quote to The New York Times. I’d be surprised if it lasts more than a year or so, meaning late night well maybe specific shows. I don’t think it’ll ever go away. Jimmy Kimmel said, it would be very surprising to me if it ever went away entirely. Maybe it won’t be as big, Maybe there won’t be a big band welcoming the host of the stage.

Maybe they won’t be fifteen writers. But I think there’ll be some version of the late night talk show we will see out today, the HBO comedy special Josh Johnson Symphony that’ll be on HBO Max tonight at eight o’clock. I’m not sure dropping that on a holiday weekend is the best idea. I don’t know me. Maybe it’s me like I love to be outside and boy, the greatest feeling in the world back when I had like an office job, was five oh one pm the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.

You have the whole summer in front of you. The weekend is just limitless. You have the whole summer. Everything is possible at five oh one pm. Today, I of course booked a trip to the United Kingdom, and I’m missing one of my favorite weekends.

There’s a town parade on Saturday of Memorially weekend, and it just I just realized the other day, like, oh, I’m gonna miss the parade. I love the parade, So I don’t know. Maybe the rest of you like to watch TV on Memorialday weekend. Not me. I would be outside the whole time anyway, HBO tells us.

Josh Johnson Symphony highlights the comedian’s unique point of view and his signature creativity as he refer on strange child experiences, the perils of being labeled nice, challenging family dynamics, and navigating life’s most awkward moments, leading the audience to laughter the way a conductor guides musicians relax. Josh johnson civity showcases the comedian’s humor, warmth, and relatability to offer a truly original and unforgettable experience. There’s a trailer. Shall we listen. Let’s listen, y’all.

Ever wonder if the first chiropractor was just bad at murder? I hurt my back. I went to the chiropractice. I even really know what chiropractors do. I just know that they’re supposed to fix facts and stuff.

And this man put one hand here and one hand here, and I was like, I’m a god. I can’t take my uncle anywhere if you take him out to eat, and he has some good food. He has too audibly loudly cat call his food. He ordered the lobster bisk This man goes. Oh sick.

Otsco at Costco one of my faiths. In her current hours fantastic. Go see her. She has teamed up with Home States. Home State has a Texas inspired menu.

The Otsco Bowl marks the restaurant’s first multi ingredient bowl and its initial use of rice as a primary component. I’m not familiar with the Home State chain. Is there one anywhere near me? Let me look Home State? Well, their website says Home State is a Texas kitchen in southern California, sharing breakfast, tacos, queso, brisket, house made flour tortillas, margarita’s, and genuine hospitality.

Now it looks like there’s one in Princeton, New Jersey. I could go there. Okay, I don’t have to go all the way out to Los Angeles to get this. Oh no, I was faked out. That’s Homestead Cafe that has nothing to do with this.

Home State has locations in La Culver City, El Segundo, Pasadena, Santa Monica, and Sherman Oaks. Sor right, I’ll have to do this. When I’m on the West Coast, I’m not going to be to get an Osco Bowl, which was developed as part of Home State’s Band Taco program. The dish blends to hano and Japanese influences, featuring California grown Kuho calros rice season with lime juice that actually sounds awesome. The bowl is layered with marinated chicken, black beans, roasted mushrooms, cabbage slaw, and pickled jalapenos, finished with a miso Chipotle sauce.

I would actually get this. This sounds amazing. One dollar from every bowl sold through June fourteenth will benefit the Immigrant Defender’s Law Center, and nonprofit providing legal aid for those impacted by the immigration system. If you’re in California, get one of these. Let me know how it is.

Comedy stock Marketngine, thank you Bert Reynolds. Every Friday on the Comedy stock Market, we take a look at where the value is in various comedians. We’re not saying they’re good to bad. We’re just saying some people are a little over hyped at the moment and some are a little under hyped. Let’s buy some weird al I mean, we always love weird Al, but a weird Al Broadway musical.

Yes, and check that into my veans. We’ll buy some weird Al. And let’s buy some Henry Yen. Now you’re like, who’s Henry Yen? You listen to Tuesday’s show.

That was the guy at the New Zealand Comedy Festival. I tell you a clip of him. It was pretty funny that guy. Let’s buy some Henry Yen. Nobody else is buying Henry Yen.

That’s like buying a penny stock in comedians. No offense, mister Yann. I’m saying, you’re really funny and you got a lot of upsides, So we’ll buy some Henry Anne. We’ll buy some weird Al. And I’ve got one cell for you, and my cell is Stephen Colbert.

I mean right, we gotta be past peak here. What’s he gonna do like One Man Show podcast, Broadway musical. I mean that’s it. We try and sell at peak value. Peak value was last night, Get out on Stephen Colbert.

Buy weird Al, buy Henry Anne, sell Stephen Colbert, and that is your comedy stock market for today. We’ll do some international stuff into the holiday week. And I always like this Stuff. Award winning Greek Australian comedian Eloise fd Dos says she’s never been in love. Her latest show is called Aphrodite.

At the beginning, she says, I don’t know if it’s real. Oh there’s a part of me that wants to believe it’s real, but I don’t know if it’s possible for me. She says her show is not making fun of women. I’m making fun of how you see women. You guys can go on stage and say you’re hot.

F Dos’ first show in twenty twenty four was called Australia’s first Attractive Comedian that got a mixed reaction. She said, I’m not making fun of women. I’m making fun of how you see women. You guys can go on stage and say you’re hot. I never said female comedian.

It’s a marketing thing. It’s funny and it grabs people’s attention. Elwy says I don’t watch women who self deprecate on stage and feel and power. And I watched so many women talk down about themselves when I saw men go on stage and talk crap about women. So everybody talks crap about women.

It’s a silly joke, but it’s almost me being like, if I tell myself I’m hot, and I’m smart and I’m funny, I’ll believe it. America’s first attractive comedian made Efdos the first Australian woman to land a Best Newcomer nomination at the Edinburgh Fringe. She said, I cried right away. The Fringe was the most physically and mentally exhausting thing I’ve done in my life, but it was amazing. It changed my life.

She says. The New Hour is both Greek comedy and tragedy. She’s the hero who’s supposed to fall because of my hubris and my pride. I want to teach myself that it’s not embarrassing to be vulnerable. Maybe when I first started, my character was a little bit more like the girl who bullied you in high school.

Now I feel like it’s more like me. I’m more silly and playful. But I find it really funny that I went from being bullied to personifying this powerful woman who says it like it is. If you’re in Brisbane, Australia, can go see Aphrodite at the Brisbane Comedy Festival.

Meanwhile, at the New Zealand to Comedy Festival, the spectator tells us Susi…

Susie Cato walked out on stage wearing denim overalls on a giant dangly heart earrings and sang and this was a comedy show for kids, but it was also a show for adults who are frankly sick of being adults. Want an antidote to laugh at bum jokes, to hear knock knock from the stage, and watches a theater of excited children yell back, who’s there? But wait, there was more? What a revelation to discover performance so talented that you, the parent don’t have to put on laughter for your children’s sake, but instead needs to cross your legs so you don’t risk accidentally weeing a bit. Wow, who knew we needed to see a puppet do one handed press ups and imitated duck.

Let me tell you, oh we effing did. The spectator also liked Stephen k Amos. The show went over a well traversed territory, the COVID pandemic, his parents, and that comedy subjective COVID jokes. It’s been six years, five years anyway. Some of the lines had first trotted out more than a decade ago.

If the crowd had been looking for fresher edgy, they would have been out of luck. They called the show an oldie but a goodie.

Meanwhile, Amanda Knox yes that.

Amanda Knox is going to perform a comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe. Her show is called Cartwheel, a reference to the exercises that Knox was said to have performed in custody after her arrest in the suspicion of murdering her twenty one year old a British flatmate in Italy. Remember that case, Knox says, despite being exonerated, people still debate whether she’s guilty or innocent, and suggests that makes her the human equivalent of the white slash gold, blue slash black dress controversy that played out on the internet. She said I was patient zero of social media cancelation. At a gig in the US earlier this year, she told three thousand people, here’s how I look at it.

If I bomb God forbid on a comedy set, what’s worse he can do to me. I’ve bombed in a courtroom and they sent me to prison. I’m just saying I’d rather be heckled than shackled. Last year, Knox open for Nikki Glaser. After Nikki Glaser spotted footage of Knox performing on Instagram, Knox said, I think finding the ability to laugh at the bad things that have happened to you and find the absurdity and the human condition is important.

I really love how comedy allows me to feel connected to other people. My past is the context. I can’t pretend that it isn’t there, but ultimately it’s a show about bringing female life into the world that is very prone to judging and violently harming women. Cartwheel by Amanda Knox will be the Gilded Balloon August seventh through the seventeenth as part of this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. And that is your comedy news for today again tomorrow.

You gotta hear this fallin thing, all right, I’ll see you then.
