Caloroga Shark Media. Hello, Johnny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. David Lucas was on The Joe Rogan Experience. He started making fun of Rogan, calling him a strong ass. Howie Mandel, who looked like a school teacher when you see them out in public.

The Allien Reporter talk to some famous podcasters, including THEO Vaughn with some Q and A let’s go quick here THEO current favorite podcast not involved in answer, The Joe Rogan Experience, and Matt and Shan’s Secret podcast. Question, how would you like to see podcasting evolve? Answer? I don’t know. Question biggest challenge facing podcasting now?

Answer everyone has a podcast, even animals. Thoughts on listening at one point five speed love It? I listened at two point three, but I’m crazy. Question we need podcasts because answer? Mainstream media doesn’t allow certain humor and voices f them.

We made our own question, weirdest ad you ever had a record? Answer Lenny’s erin tablets, change the color of your p one milliger and five milligrams. Jimmy Kimmel was on a Podcastparrently as One with Gavin noosem Marshawn Lynch and Doug Hendrickson it’s called Politiken. That’s a weird combination of hosts anyway, Jimmy Kimmel said, I don’t know if there’ll be any late night television shows on network TV in ten years. Able to be one out there, but there won’t be a lot of them.

There’s a lot to watch, and now people can watch anything at any time. They’ve got all these streaming services. It used to be Johnny Carson was the only thing on at eleven thirty, so everybody watched, and then David Letterman was on after Johnny, so people watch those two shows. But now there’s so many options. Maybe more significantly, the fact that people are easily able to watch your monologues online the next day really cancels out the need to watch it when it’s on the air.

Once people stop watching it when it’s on the air, networks are going to stop paying for it to be made. Johnny Mack, you never mentioned Matt Rife. I know, right in the la time said, Matt Rife is living his comedy dream and now for the hard part maintaining it. Matt Riiche’s scheduled clocking forty to fifty shows a month writes the la Times led to a stretch of consecutive days without sleep as he stayed up prepping for shows, editing social videos, and barreling from city to city. He fought through it before a pair of recent shows in Indiana.

He said he almost collapsed while leaving his hotel room was forced to cancel the gigs hours before showtime. Suffering blurred vision and painful ringing in his ears, he could barely walk or talk. He had to be taken to the er Raife said during an interview with the Kuckuburra Lounge in Hollywood, I felt like I was legitimately dying. It’s embarrassing, man, because everybody around me saw this coming. Everybody’s response was, can’t believe this didn’t happen sooner.

He talked about crowd work and said, when you’re rehearsing your sat building material on a show for an hour long material special, you can definitely get tired of telling your own jokes. When I started doing comedy, this was never a dream of mine to be at this level. I was just like, if I could ever sell out a comedy club one time. Ever, that’s the epitome of what I think a comedian probably could be. Fellow comedian Eric Griffin, who directed Lucida, said, what I admire about Matt Riife is his work ethic.

Nothing was added to him. He’s been working hard for twelve years now. The fan base is kind of caught up with it, and they’ve made him super famous. Riife became obsessed with comedy at age fifteen when Grandma took him to see Dean Cook. The first time he went on stage for an open micy he said, he almost soiled his pants.

Thank you Matt for that image. Matt said, I had all my jokes memories, but I’m so nervous and the host goes on stage. We have first time tonight. Give it up for the uncomfortably young Matt Reef Griffin says he draws people in because he listens, so when he’s doing this crowd work with people, he’s genuinely interested in what people are saying. Those are the type of clips that have gone viral for him, and those are the things that resonate with people.

It’s not just CrowdWork for the sake of CrowdWork. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I really liked the special. I thought it was a lot of fun. It’s not trying to be high art. It’s just an hour of jokes and I laughed, had a good time on the couch.

You should watch it. It’s fun rife Warren’s audience members. Don’t try to be funny. Don’t do that. Just yourself.

I’ll bring the comedy out of you. Don’t worry. We’ll find it. We’re gonna Jordan and Pimp in this. Don’t be selfish.

The Guardian spoke to one of my favorite comedians, Phil Wang. He’s got a new mustache and says it’s an experiment. My girlfriend asked if I could grow one, because she’s into the look. She’s the wind beneath my wings mustache. Wise, now, I’ve written some stand up about having one, so it’s locked in for the time being.

I’m laughing. Last week I was like, yeah, maybe I’ll try and grow a cheezy mustache, or at least I won’t shave until my wife notices and complains about it, and then every day I would like forget about this concept and shave it. So I didn’t grow cheesy mustache. Maybe over Labor Day weekend, we’ll see, The Guardian said. Eur Asian people I’ve said your success means a lot to them.

Is that a source of pride? Phil Wang? Phil said, definitely. They messaged me about my book Side Splitter, How to Be from Two worlds at Once. Some say I was the first East Asian comedian they saw on TV.

Thankfully that’s not the case anymore, and there’s been a real explosion in the past five years, which is very encouraging. Tastes abroad in the comedy industry tends to follow tastes. A lot of the work for us was done by Kate Bop, squid Game, parasite and everything everywhere all at once. The more people see Asians and other entertainment forms, the less weird it comes to see them do stand up. These things build on each other.

I call it cool bleed. It also follows food culture. Interestingly, Tai Vietnamese, Korean, and Malayian food have all gotten big in the UK, which provides more reference points. East Asian comedians can talk about kim chi and Western audiences will understand. These things all track together and give us a leg up.

Phil Wang’s special is called Wang In There Baby. It’ll be on Netflix September third. Jimmy Fallon announced He’s staging a haunted maze at thirty Rock Why I don’t know either, designed by the team behind Universal Studios, parent company of NBC, that explains that theme parks Halloween horror nights. Jimmy Fallons Tonightmares will feature ten rooms, in one of which Johnny Carson rolls over in his grave, each based on some of his deepest, darkest nightmares. Those fears include werewolves, aliens, breen eating zombies, murderous AI robots, and abandoned gas station, and a cornfield crawling with homicidal scarecrows.

In a statement, Jimmy Fallon said, Tonightmares has got everything you need to get supremely frightened this Halloween. Jimmy also has a new book. It’s a children’s book called five More Sleeps Till Halloween. The book is due out September third. It’s a follow up to Jimmy Fallons very very famous and very very popular twenty twenty Christmas book Five More Sleeps Till Christmas, Not to be confused with the Beastie Boys Five More Sleeps Till Brooklyn.

So where can I see Tonightmares? Right in Rockefeller Center. So that’s where they do the Christmas tree. So I see what NBC’s doing here, all right, So we’ll do the Halloween thing and we’ll run that for a month and then we take that down. We put up the tree, actually pretty smart.

Tourists will eat that up. I used to work in that neighborhood and yeah, I’ll just repeat myself. Tourists will eat that up. Jimmy found Tonightmares will run select nights from September twentieth through Halloween. Are you psyched for the Australian edition of the Office.

It’s the thirteenth global incarnation of the Office. This one will air globally on Prime Video except in the United States VPN much, which is a shame because the Australian Office is in English and we could watch it. We can enjoy it. In the Australian version of The Office, Felicity Ward plays Boss Hannah Howard, who manages the packing company Finley Cretic. In the Australian version of the Office, Howard gets news from the head office that they’ll be shutting down her branch and forcing everyone to work remotely, a move that Caesar going to survival mode, making promises she can’t keep in order to keep her work family together the staff of Finley Kratic Adulture and must endure Howard’s at landish plots as they work together the impossible targets that have been set for them.

I wonder if there’s a Jim and Pam thing. I wonder if there’s a Tim and Dawn thing here let’s see. The cast includes Eve Poor Steen, Ruskoppolos, Sherry Sebbins, and a bunch of other Australian act wars that I’m not familiar with. Dina Hasham spoke to Slate about the New York City roast scene from ten years ago. Dina said, at a certain point it was a feeder for the Comedy Central Roast Battle show on TV, So it was like a way to get into the Stand Comedy Club, which is where it was being hosted for the most part.

So it was like a way of showing my joke writing ability and hopefully a way of maybe getting my first TV appearance, which actually happened. So for me, it was a way of advancing my career more than like a love for the sport of roasting. Slat said, some comics love it. Dina said, yeah, it’s a lot of work. You have to sit down and learn a bunch of stuff about somebody else, Like, if you’re really crazy, you’ll scout their podcast and try to find something that I didn’t even know that you’re gonna know about them.

And it’s so much work for jokes that you could never ever use again, and you can’t really test them out, Like you can’t take the jokes and go to a show and test them. So you’re just going up having no idea how the crowd’s going to react. And I’ll leave you with this fun story from Yahoo back in November twenty twenty five, Marcelo Hernandez you know him from Saturday Night Live, At just wrapped rehearsal with that week’s host Dave Chappelle, Marcello says, I was like, hey, Dave, do you know the entrance to Madison Square Garden. You see Marselo Hernandez was booked to open for Joe Coy. You remember Joe Cooi.

I’m not gonna do it. I’m not gonna do it, relaxed. Got back at friend of the show right now is losing his mind. He thinks I’m gonna play the Joe Coy clip. Should I play the Joe Coy clip makes con back at upset.

Remember that time Joe Coy host to the Golden Globes and he said this about Taylor Swift. Big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL. On the Golden Gloves, we have fewer climber shots of Taylor Swift. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Bro Ah.

All right, Marcelo Hernandez, he’s there with Dave Chappelle and Marcello’s gonna open for Joe Coy at MSG and he goes, Hey, Dave the entrance to Madison Square Garden and Dave goes, are going to take an uber in Madison Square Garden and Marcello’s like, yeah, what’s wrong with that? And Dave says, there’s twenty two interests at Madison Square Garden. You’re never going to get in. Chapelle made a call. Soon Marcelo Hernandez was on his way and he learned about loading doc Baby.

Welcome to show biz, Marcelo, and that is your comedy news for today. Hey, if you like the program, tell a friend about it too. If you like talking about comedy and joining the Facebook group, It’s Daily Comedy News podcast group meets you here tomorrow

Calarocas, shock media. Easy one again. Hi, I’m chutting Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Let’s jump in here. Sam Merrill was on Good Day Baltimore.

Let’s listen. Was this with us? This is she’s a rescue, She’s that I saved her. She was getting sexually assaulted by a pack of chihuahuas in Los Angeles. I stepped in, Yeah, and I crescent caped two of them.

You did, and we’ve been together ever since. Is that going to be part of your your routine? Like? What are you gonna see? See this this evening, this weekend?

Hitler genocide, uh Kamala, Trump and poop? Well, all things that are on top of mine for folks the moment they wake up and turn our newscasts on. I don’t want to burn a bridge. I know how you feel about bridges in Baltimore. But oh my goodness, sorry, Sam, we’re gonna take it out here.

Well, funny Friday, it’ going to go the way good Dave Baltimore thought, Sam. Yikes, Gilbert Godfried will have a new album. Gilbert passed away in twenty twenty two. Eight hundred Pound Guerrilla reported on Gilbert’s new album saying Gilbert never put out a comedy album because, according to widow Dana Godfrid on her Instagram page, Gilbert didn’t want to use up as material. But there is a CDDVD called Dirty Jokes, which to me is an album, but okay whatever.

Dana has partnered with Clown Jewels to release Gilbert Gottfried’s first album or second album title to be announced. The album will feature material that was shot for the twenty seventeen documentary Gilbert. In support of the release, there will be an event as part of the New York Comedy Festival at the Hard Rocket Time Square. There’ll be a Q and a panel hosted by Frank Santo Padre, who co hosted Gilbert’s Amazing Colossal podcast. I mentioned that is a podcast episode that will be recorded there so they can run some spots.

Totally get It also debut a short film featuring never before seen footage that was cut from the documentary. All proceeds will benefit the Gilbert Gottfried Myotonic Dystrophe Type two Research Fund at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. The album will be released both digitally and on vinyl November thirteenth. Matt Rife going back on tour. We never talk about Matt Rife around here, you know.

He also announced a new feature project. Matt Rife will be among the leads of Rolling Loud, which is an R rated comedy co produced by Live Nation Productions, which will film at the hip hop festival also called Rolling Loud that’s in Miami in December. Rolling Loud inspired by the true story of an overprotective father who makes the worst parenting decision of his life when he sneaks his thirteen year old son into Rolling Loud, the world’s biggest hip hop festival, setting off a chaotic adventure. With his reckless coworker and an eccentric festival volunteers, they navigate wild crowds, security, and copywriting rule of three their own family dynamics. Rife’s tour dates won’t be announced until later this year.

Meanwhile, on gossip Corner, Rife is being criticized for his jaw fillers to the point where fans are saying they can’t watch his new special Wow this from the Sun newspaper. They write, his cheeks appear to have huge dimples in them and the lines by his jaw are prominent. One social media user wrote would be nice if Netflix would stop trying to force me to watch them at Rife Special. His freakish face from jaw Fillers is too alarming to look at. Nikki Glaser’s publicist continues to deserve her raise.

The La Times wrote under the headline, while Nikki Glaser is suddenly the hottest name in comedy. You know, I read the article to pull some stuff out for you, and there’s not really much there. You know the story, especially if you listen to me every day. She was on Tom Brady and then yeah, okay, we got it. She continues to give worrisome quotes.

Let me drop the little to my voice here because I’m being very serious. This this bothers me. This quote, Nikki said, comedy at its best is relatable because we all have to die someday. We’re all terrified of it, and depression comes from not really thinking about it, suppressing it and are subconscious. I was really trying to hide it for a while.

I thought it made me a liability in this business. No one wants to work with someone depressed, but the business doesn’t care. They’re not worried about me killing myself as long as I’m getting laughs with it. It’s going to be okay. I hope Nikki’s got someone in her life looking out for her.

Meanwhile, awkward Segue. Fifty Cent has lashed out at Lunell following her comments about his comedy show. Complex reports that fifty Cents lashed out at Lunell after the legendary comedian said there were no women on his comedy showcase. Sent said proof you can’t make everyone happy. I loved Lunell’s work.

That’s why I had them put her in Ghost. We saw her big ass was booked already, so we didn’t reach out. You think I didn’t want Monique some more Amy Schumer? They on fire? WTF.

Lunell had recently commented, I want to say this game is so misogynistic because I just heard about this comedy festival that my dear friend fifty is having right now. I haven’t seen the paperwork, so I don’t know, but from what I heard, there were several comedians on the plane, but not one female comic. Now this might be a mistake, but this is the information I’ve got. There are men and women in the audiences in those shows. I think that their representation only makes sense.

Recently, mister sent posted a screenshot of a US Weekly article on Instagram about him reaching billionaire status. He added, I don’t want this to make you think I don’t need a discount, because I want a discount. Lol. I had told you CNN has a new Saturday night series, Have I Got News for You? Ten episodes.

It premieres a Saturday, September fourteenth. Johnny Mack has one dollar on the square that says, this runs ten episodes and gets canceled. Why. It’s not because of the talent, it’s because of the time slot Saturday night at nine pm. Who’s home Saturday night at nine pm?

Well I am, but I’m not gonna watch this at Saturday night nine pm. That’s video game time. Or actually no, I usually do the Saturday night movie, often a James Bond film, which is the best James Bond film, Johnny Mack, it is clearly the Spy who Loved Me. I used to say on Her Majesty’s Secret Service. But I think Spy who Loved Me is just perfect.

That all said, of course, Sean Connery is the best Bond. You can comment on the in the Facebook group It’s Daily Comedy News podcast group. We could have a whole James Bond argument. I’m in start one anyway. I digress.

Saturday September fourteenth, at nine pm, when I’ll be watching college football and or a James Bond movie, CNN will air Have I Got News for You. It’s hosted by Roywood Junior, but they’ve added two cast members, Amber Ruffin and Michael ian Black. They will service the captains of the various teams. That is really good hiring great. Michael ian Black, in a statement, said, I’m thrilled to be joining Roywood Junior and Amber Ruffin, as Have I Got News for You’s DEI hire.

I’m looking forward to spreading as much disinformation as possible on America’s most trusted news network. My main focus has been, and will continue to be pleasing my handlers in the Kremlin. Have I Got News for You BBC series since nineteen ninety typically showcases two teams talking about various news stories of the week. But again Saturday night at nine pm. I don’t know, man, all right, let’s get serious here.

Eric Andre posted a clip on Instagram. I’ll let Eric speak for himself for about a minute and change, and then I will jump in. So I’ve been on planes for over twenty five hours. I flew from New York City to LA then to LA to Melbourne, then Melbourne to Brisbane to shoot something. I got detained and I had to go.

I got pulled out of a lineup and put in a special line in Melbourne where I was sniffed thoroughly by a dog. Those dogs are pretty much ineffective. I’ve heard statistics like their eighty to ninety percent ineffective. It’s sniffing out whatever they’re trying to sniff out. It’s like one of the many times I’ve been racially profiled at the airport.

So this is a message for all black, brown and Indigenous people traveling through Melbourne today, especially if you’re traveling Quantus International by terminal two, Please be careful. They are searching black, brown and Indigenous people. Please let me know if anybody knows the names of those officers with the dogs or what that program is. If anybody has information on a discrimination Australian lawyer, I’m all ears, please send me that info. And if anybody has information on statistically how many people of color they put into this dog sniffing line versus white passengers, I’m assuming it doesn’t reflect the percentage of white passengers versus POC passengers at any given time at that airport.

Later in the video, Eric said, anybody hiring me to work in Australia going forward, whether it’s a production or a tour, please don’t make me go through the Melbourne airport alone. Please provide a police escort or some type of security escort for me, or have me flying to Brisbane or Sydney directly. I do not feel safe in the Melbourne airport. I do not want to be humiliated or racially discriminated against any more at these airports. I don’t want to cut my hair and wear three Pece suits.

I’m treated like a first class citizen. I shouldn’t be made to feel that I am unaccepted by entering a country. Shame on the people at the Melbourne Airport that have this cockamaning procedure. I doubt it yields any safer world for anybody in Melbourne or Australia. When I heard the story, it did ring a bell in my brain.

And I’m just gonna share a fact with you, And I don’t want you to think that I’m throwing this in here to make some sort of comment. Factually, Eric Andre previously said he was racially profiled at the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in twenty twenty one and later took legal action. Again, I don’t want you to think I’m being dismissive of Eric Andre’s concerns by throwing that in there. From Late Nighter. Jimmy Kimmel kind of always talking about retiring, and he was on a podcast that’s hosted by California Governor Gavin Newsom, football player marsha On Lynch and their agent Doug Hendrickson.

That’s a weird show. I guess the agent really wanted to have a podcast anyway. Kimmel, so all those guys, I’ll have a hard time when it’s over. It worries me. That’s part of the reason I keep going, he explained.

That’s why he keeps wind up signing another contract because I fear that day the money after my final show, and it’s like, now what am I gonna do? But he points out there aren’t a huge the number of options for late night hosts after the shows are over. I mean, I guess you could do a podcast. Conan seems to be doing okay, so if you want to argue about James Bond movies or just talk about comedy. Joined the Facebook group It is Daily Comedy News podcast group.

Matthew Welcome to the group. Matthew joined over the weekend from Comedy dot co dot uk. It is the funniest joke at the Fringe Festival. Let me just preamble here. These are jokes told by professional comedians in a comedy environment.

You know, so how comedy works. You know, you don’t just show up and just say a line and expect a big laugh. You kind of set the stage and you know how comedy works, right, you’re listening to me. You know, you set up a premise, or the audience is at a good bood, or you’re throwing it aside. You get how this works.

It’s not a dude in his basement recording a podcast. So all these are out of context and we’re told better buying professional comedians. I’ve preambled enough. It is the funniest joke of the Fringe twenty twenty four. Your winner, Mark Simmons, with this professional joke told properly.

I was going to sail around the globe in the world’s smallest ship, but I bottled it all right, we have fourteen more. Alex Snook. I’ve been taking Salce lessons for months, but I just don’t feel like I’m progressing. It’s just one step four, two steps back. I think that’s a better joke.

I also told it better than the first one. Alex Kitson eight horse at a restaurant once wasn’t great. Starter was up right, but the main was dreadful. Did a little plan words there with mean and get it. Arthur Smith went with, I sailed through my driving test, That’s why I failed it.

I like it simple, Mark Simmons again, I love the Olympics. My friend and I invented a new type of let baton. Well he came up with the idea and I ran with it. Let’s see that made me actually laugh. That was better Ala Falaffe whole great name went with.

My dad used to say to me pinees Gallon’s leaders, which I think speaks volumes. Love it, Chelsea Burkby. British etiquette is confusing. Why is that high brow to look at boobs at an art gallery but low brow when I get him out in spoons? Spoons it seems to be a restaurant in London.

Masih Graham went with I wanted to know which came first, the chicken or the eggs. I bought a chicken and then I bought an egg and I think I’ve cracked it. These are fun. I’m gonna save more of these for Saturday, not tomorrow. Why not to John, because I already recorded a world Okay, okay, you’re on to me.

You’re busted doing a little traveling this week. Sometimes I got to record ahead. A nice job. By The Daily Show they had a dog adoption event was called The Daily Show Presents in Dog’s Vision twenty twenty four, Rescuing Democracy. A last Sunday in Chicago, fans had the chance to meet several correspondents and a whole lot of dogs looking for their forever homes.

Desi Leidak, Jordan Klepper, Ronny Chieng and TROYA Wata were there. John Stewart, I guess was at the Hamptons. Where are you John? You can chokee at this. The result was more than two hundred and fifty new voter registrations and multiple in progress adoptions.

Pete Lee will be at the Comedy Vault in Batavia this weekend. Pete Lee, known for multiple appearances on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, and his stand up clips on Instagram and TikTok. He said, the Comedy Vault is a really special club. The owner, Liz is really in a comedy and she’s really great to comics. A few of them love comedians the way Liz does.

Lee got into comedy, he said, I had a grandmother that was a lounge singer and told jokes in between her sets. I asked her for advice on jokes and whatnot. At one point, my grandmother was teaching me the structure of jokes, and she wouldn’t let me dinner until I wrote or a proper joke. That was when I was fourteen years old. In school, he majored in advertising, which taught him how to write two hundred of something.

They get to one thing that’s good. If you go see him, expect about three quarters of the act will be material and about a quarter will be crowd work. Pete says, for a long time was known for being a good writer material. I think my Tonight Show appearances reflect that. But the way the internet’s going right now, you have to release a video every day, or third day.

If I was releasing all my material when people came to the shows, they wouldn’t say anything new. I’m a trained improviser as well, and I think it’s really fun to talk to the crowd. In his set, he talks about marriage, his dog, drinking, and how much it sucks to be nice. It says, if you really look at the court what I’m talking about. I never say that sentence on stage, but I’m really talking about how much it sucks to be a kind person.

I talk about everything from calling customer service and how everything’s autobated. I do a whole section on young people. Everybody’s really hard in young people. They say it’s the worst generation. They’ve said that forever.

I defend young people for about ten minutes, and it’s funny. That’s what comedy’s supposed to be. You’re supposed to be holding up a mirror to people’s experiences so they can go I feel that way, or that made me feel better. If you’re giving out information or wisdom in a show, you wanted to help people’s lives. Comedy Vault, eighteen East Wilson Street, Batavia, at twenty five bucks.

You should go. Louise Atkinson said about the fringe, Billy Connolly could tell me a story about a Mayonaise jar for two hours. All right, Louise, how do you get in a comedy? She said? I was dating a comedy nerd who wanted to try stand up, so I researched comedy courses for them as a gift.

The same day I quit a job which I hated on my ex decided this was also a great time to break up with me. Anyway. I got an email saying the space had become available on the course of the following week, and I did it myself. Her show, She’s Got the Look the inspiration. Well, I got into the last round of competition.

I was told I sound good but look a mess. So the show is me trying to figure out which bit of me is the mess and why we make assumptions about people based on how they look when we should really judge people based on whether I think a jeffa cake is a cake or a biscuit. That’ll tell me everything I need to know about you. What’s the wrong assumption people make about you, Louise Atkinson? She says, when you’re a more curfy, voluptuous person than the thing most people tend to think is you don’t understand what healthy eating is.

Let me be clear, I’m fully aware of what healthy food is. I know what a carrot is. It transports dip into my face. Chort Ol gave four stars out of five to Aaron Chen at the Fringe and Right. Aaron Chen is verging on the big league in Sydney.

He plays three thousand seat rooms and is recently relocated to New York on a visa, which classifies him as quote an alien of extraordinary ability. Chen’s one of the only accident to a bit of local material up top, referencing shortbread in Edinburgh Airport, which he says is his main source of current affairs coverage. After he accidentally sign up for their newsletter. Chen moves there to a sizeable chunk about airplane food. It’s not even the first time he’s covered the topic.

It’s as if he takes on the routines as a challenge. Can he make it work? You bet he can. Four stars out of five and from the Sunday Post dot com. If you see Kyle Aker is walking backward around Edinburgh on a windy day, He’s doing it for good reason, not for laughs, but to avoid triggering his excruciating nerve pain, he says, I’ve walked backward into the wind to avoid it.

It sounds impossible that the wind could be so bad, but often the slightest pressure will trigger it, like if someone hit me in the face. Even wearing my glasses can’t affect it. He has trigeminal neuralgia, a long term pain condition that causes sudden attacks of sharp, shooting pain in the face, mouth, and jaw that can feel like an electrical shock. I’m particularly doing this story. I had a version of this.

I would get all of a sudden like it would the back of my head would feel like you stuck an ice pick in it. I would go from one un percent fine to excruciating pain for half a second, and then it would go away. I had this. Luckily it has mostly cleared up. It very rarely happens now, but in my twenties this would happen often.

Kyle explains, your brain doesn’t realize it’s just a little artery bumping into a nerve. Instead, it goes on red alert and thinks you’re being stabbed. He describes the severe bounts of pain like a down power line flying around in the inside of the right side of my head. Anytime it frequently bumps into something, it electrocutes me. When the pain gets really bad, that power line is really flailing and causes this electrical stabbing pain.

Sometimes it can’t function. I can’t even open my eyes while it. Just lay on the floor, pushing my face against the cold kitchen tiles to try and feel something that’s not this indescribable well of pane and nothingness inside my head. Dude, I feel for you. Man.

Wow, sounds like it’s this pretty bad, he said. I used to WinCE all the time and just tell people, including my aunits is that my head was sore. Now I still wins through a set, but I explain what’s going on, which makes it a bit easier. Being more vocal about my condition has made people around me more aware of it feels less taboo. There’s something in me making fun of it that makes it easier for people to deal with.

It’s been cathartic for me too. Wow. This article says it’s usually seen in patients over sixty. I had it I was in my twenty I remember I was walking home from a party in the cold and it felt like a vice in my head, and then it started up and had it for a few years, most of my twenties, probably into my thirties, and that kind of cleared up. Kyle said, I’ve met so many more people with this condition that I would have thought.

It’s been wonderful to meet people have dealt with what I have, but are also some steps ahead. You meet people have lived with this pain for twenty years and realized they found a way to live with some normalcy. So there’s there again. I don’t have it anywhere near as bad as he’s describing here. Anyway, He’s at the fringe and his show’s called Hard to Say, and they’ll find him at just the Tonic.

And that is your comedy news for today. Uh did you pretape Friday? John? Yeah? I did?

All right, we’ll offer me back see tomorrow. Well you’ll see me. I won’t see you.

Caloroga Shark Media, Hello and Choennie Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Nate Perganzy spoke to The New York Post about building a new set and says, once you have one joke you think you could close with, that helps you build a new hour because you’re like, worst case scenario, I have something that’s actually good last night. I came up with some stuff on the spot. You stumble into some things. I don’t do CrowdWork or anything, but you’ll riff a couple things and if it’s getting laughs, then you’re like, okay, then you say a couple of other things.

To me, it’s always you got to know how to get out of the jokes. You can riff. You can riff stuff as long as you know the ending. As long as you start the joke, then you can play and have a dismount. I drew up a set list from a show last night, so at least I have a direction of where I want to go.

If I do that, I can get work done. I go out there and just mess around. He appreciates the freedom of smaller clubs. When you do arenas and these big shows, those are intense. It’s not as easy to throw in a new idea.

When there’s twenty thousand people, you’re like, this all needs to be ready to go. He’s been doing theaters in the round, but kind of likes not doing that. He says, there’s a relief when you’re like, well, no one’s behind me. It’s a break when everyone’s in front of you. Nashville Scenes spoke to James Austin Johnson, who said there were a lot of things to fear about my college environment related to stand up.

So I didn’t really tell people that I was doing stand up. I didn’t tell my parents, I didn’t tell my friends. I would just kind of disappear. There were bars. I learned to sneak in the back door and hope not to get carted.

I did that a lot. I did a lot of sneaking in through the patio, ordering a pepsi and just hoping not to get kicked out before my set. It took me time to learn how to perform at a place. It took living life, it took moving away, and I think having loved, having lost love, etc. And my act is talking about how where the culture I come from looks to me.

You have children and you just to look at your own life differently, You look at how you were raised differently. Your relationship to your grandparents, your parents, your great grandparents at all changes because you think about the good things you got from a place that maybe you spent your whole adolescence resenting. Your relationship to all that changes. I’m just trying to be somebody who’s a vessel of love. As corny as that is.

I’m trying to make people laugh. I’m trying to help people fall asleep. That’s my job as a late night sketch comedian. I’m trying to help you fall asleep in a spicy world. Kelsey Cook talked about her comedy influences.

I loved Amy Schumer, Dimitri Martin, Mike Berbiglia, and Brian Reagan, but I don’t know that I was influenced by anybody’s style. I moved to la idded one of those weird, serendipitous experiences. Jim Norton was trying to promote a special We went a long way from Dimitri Martin to Jim Norton. Jim Norton was trying to promote a special that was coming out, and he tweeted, Hey, what podcasts so I go on. I had a little podcast at the time, nothing bigger, great, and I thought, he doesn’t know me, He’s not gonna do this, but he had this business email, so I sent him an email, got a response, Yeah, sure, love to do podcast had him on and I knew that he had female comics opened frohim on tour in the past.

I know Amy had opened for him for a while, and I just said, if she ever needs somebody, I’d love to work with you, and he gave me a shot. That’s great. Norton’s a good guy man. I opened for him one weekend and then went back to my day job. The next week, I got an email from his manager with the rest of the tour eights for the year, and I cried at my receptionist desk because he changed my life.

Jim Norton was like my comedy fairy godmother. You know. Hasham caught up with Slate. They were curious how she records her ideas when they come to her, and she says, I’m full iPhone notes pad, Like I can never switch phones because I’m addicted to the notes pad. I know comics is still write things down with their hands, and it’s like I forgot how to write and really dependent on it.

But there’s zero organizations. So it’s actually a terrible process because I have like two different notes and they’re just like can you scroll infinitely? And I never scroll, so they’re just ideas sitting there that I’ll probably never get back to. She talked about developing her SATs and says, you know, part of the problem is when you’re doing comedy. When you start, you’re just full of ideas and you’re like, everything’s funny, and you’re just like flush withled ideas, and your sense of humor becomes more fine, and then things you think are funny become less and less, and so I’m at the point where I think almost nothing is funny, and so it’s so much harder to come up with now something where I’m like, eh, that’s good enough.

Greg Ferguson told the story on his podcast towards the end of his run hosting The Late Late Show on CBS. He said, towards the end, things were getting a little nutty and Rob Burnette was running worldwide pants. I think I was reupping for the last two years or something, and Rob said, what do you want? And I said, I want ten thousand dollars at a shoe box with used bills and he sent it to me. Wasn’t he even fresh?

It was like used bad money. I think for the next two years, instead of going to the ATM, I’d just go to the shoe box. Hey, don’t forget. I also host the podcast five Good News Stories Number five Good News Stories. What happens on five Good News Stories Johnny Mackwell, I tell you five stories and they’re all good news, hence the name five Good News Stories Number five Good New Stories.

Wherever you get your shows? The Toronto Guardian profiled comedian Sarah Bennett. I don’t know why I said comedia Sarah Bennett. You think I gotta come on here and be like The Toronto Guardian profiled Vice president of Finance Sarah Bennett. Why would I do that?

Sarah Bennett and Thrall’s audiences with a unique blend of earnest, mischievous humor and theatrical flair. Drawing inspirations from the likes of Patty Harrison, Sophia Budle and Amy Sedaris, she thrives on portraying the quirky and the bizarre. Sarah, how would you describe your comedy style. She says, I’m very earnest, ironic, and mischievous. My stand up is a lot more like sketch comedy if anything, because it’s very theatrical.

I like to make up stuff and lie. I’d never lie in real life. By the way, can we believe her if if any of my family or potential lovers are reading. I always try to be true to myself and honor what I think is true and funny about the world. My agent says, it feels as though there’s something I’m not telling the audience, like I’m keeping secrets, which is also true about my style.

I’m a charming, little delinquent. Her favorite comedian growing up probably Dana Carvey. I used to go to elementary school and ask people what’s your favorite episode of the Dana Carvey Show? And they wouldn’t know what the hell I was talking about. All Right, who’s your favorite comedian now?

Jackie Perico. God, I love her so much. She’s every comedian’s favorite comedian. Johnny Mack is unfamiliar with Jackie. She does her own thing, and she’s genuinely one of the best people in comedy.

All right. Sarah Bennett what is your pre show ritual? She says, smoke a Cuban cigar and jump into traffic. It makes me feel alive. Just kidding.

I don’t think I have one. I just go in and hope everybody thinks I’m chillin normal. And I think I have done a version of this story, but if I did, it was a shorter version. I’ll do the long version here from lad Bible, a comedian and got mad at the audience because he didn’t get a single laugh. Louis Spears was performing materially.

He’d done you know a bunch of times and didn’t get a single laugh out of the audience at the Kings of Comedy Club in Australia, not a single chuckle. He opened up his set and my name’s Louis Spears, and I’m frequently tall. I’m six feet eight, which is exactly two meters tall. No laugh. I get two questions, and you know what.

The first question is, you’re so tall? He played basketball? And want to look at these people and go do I look like an athlete to you? No laugh? I got the lower half of a wounded flamingo.

No laugh. He quickly picked up on the vibe and said, this is very strange. He switched gears started to talk about the last performance he had done in Perth, which he explained resulted in him being protested against as he had joked about the Dalai Lama. Still nothing, he said to the crowd. I don’t know what the f happened, but I got up here and I feel like everyone agreed.

All right, let’s just sit in silence. What the F is going on? You know what’s really effed up is after the set, I somehow off to summon up the courage to invoice the guy running the gig. A heckler shout it out, you should lower your expectations to just a free drink. Spears said, that’s a good one.

I’ll just get a coke and nick myself. All right, you guys have been lovely. I’ve been Lewis Spears. I’ve tried my best. Have a good night.

Well here’s the twist. YouTubers Misfit Minds had actually staged a prank on Spears. They instructed the crowd not to laugh no matter what, so he left the stage. The crowd erupted it into applause. They got Spears back off a stage revealed themselves, and he said, did you do that on purpose?

Oh my god, I’m so upset. You know what’s bad about this? My last night in Perth, I actually did bomb. So I was doing the same jokes and it was actual silence that I felt awful. Got off stage and no one came out.

Some of the folks in the crowd once said he took it like a champ, and another said gotta give him credit for keeping going. Someone else said that’s how super villains are born, and that chick comedy news for today. If you joined the program, tell a friend about it. They might like it too. If you’d like to support the show, there are many ways.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hello Johnny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Nikki Glaser spoke to NPR and discussed doing comedy about sex because of her fear of it. Nicky said, sex was always the scariest thing to me. It was always the most interesting thing.

I didn’t have sex until I was twenty one. I didn’t kiss a boy until I was eighteen. I think I was scared of boys. I’m scared of sex. I was in a constant battle with my body from the age of seventeen on, just not liking what it was and being ashamed of it.

So I think immediately when I started doing stand up, I was attracted to those kind of unspeakable things that I was just wondering why more people don’t talk about them, especially when it comes to sex. She discussed whether some topics should be off limits because she personally hasn’t experienced them. Stay with me here until I finished the paragraph. Nicki said, I feel like I have a right to talk about rape because I’m definitely fearful of it and it’s something that could happen to me. But if somebody’s like I was offended by what you said, I’m just like, oh yah, yeah, I got that.

I’m sorry I have a panic attack on my show because I talk about a subject that’s really close and personal to you and traumatize to you. I’ll give you your money back, or at least the part of the ticket that I made out of the money, because I don’t want anyone have a bad experience. But I definitely don’t think that that’s reason enough not to talk about these things. I do think my jokes aren’t meant to be cruel or make fun of anyone who’s a victim or has a condition. I don’t want to offend anyone.

I don’t understand this rule of you only get to talk about things that you’ve lived. Because I’m just a comedian, I might not of the right take. I’m not right about everything, and I’m not enacting change politically with my stand up. It’s just an entertainment thing. So for me to be taking so seriously that you said this thing and it’s offensive, it’s like, well, I’m a clown.

There’s no requirements of courses I had to take. I have no certification for what I’m doing, so you shouldn’t expect me to get everything right. And I’m completely open to people saying, hey, you have the wrong take on this, and here’s why, and for me to adjust my joke to that. I have no problem with that. She also talked about performing while depressed and said it’s hard to perform when I’m like really really depressed.

It’s hard to get to the theater and be backstage and think I’m about to go do this thing. I have to turn it on. But I will say the second I step out there, the adrenaline kicks in and it’ll offer me relief and I’m able to be honest about it. That’s the nice thing about doing stand up because they don’t have to perform the same songs every night at the same play. I kind of get to say what I want to say, so I can kind of talk about it and work through it that way.

I think of depression as like getting a flu. At first, I get these sniffles or a little sore throat, like a little tingle in the back of my throat of depression. That’s when I need to throw on some comedy and it really does help. And I’m realizing that late in my life, actually my depression is way more in check now. Deadline asked Sam Morrel one of the biggest challenges of building a career as a comic Today, Sam said, I think the challenges are really just adapting, seeing the next move on the chessboard, and also writing.

Writing is really am I getting better? I always look ahead? Am I getting better at comedy? Is this hour better than the last one? I think this one is?

And I think my pace is better. My friend is very critical of me, and I like it that way. I like that he’s honest with me, and he’s like, there was more of a sense of urgency with your pace, and I got this, And now you’re relaxed and know they’re gonna laugh. You have confidence in the bits. I think that comes with writing a certain way, but also believing and trusting your audience.

And I do. I trust that they’re going to get what I’m doing. I do feel like there’s a relationship with the audience, and when we trust them, they were and when you panter to them, they’re too smart. Sam discussed his whiskey Bodega Cat and said, it’s been a rude awakening in terms of the liquor business. But Mark and I were just talking on our podcast one day.

We had a few Innus and Mark goes Man’d be so cool to have a whiskey, but we can never do that.

And then I was like, why we have a lot of drunk listeners, A lot of people in…

Two friends having drinks together. It was originally called one More Drink, based on the idea that you’re trying to leave the bar, but you and your friend are having such a good time, and you’re like, fit one more drink. You want you to feel that way when you enjoy each other’s company. We really do, and I think people felt that. I was telling my daughter the other night about I can’t believe when I was in my thirties at serious, I would go out after work and just get home like absurdly late.

And now that I’m definitely living on old Man Mountain, I’m like, I can’t believe I used to do that. How did it even function? I don’t want to make it sound like I would go out to have twenty five beers, but I would get home at eleven thirty at night, would be my point. On a Tuesday, I don’t know how I did that. Back to Sam, then when we said that, it just turned into people hitting us up, saying, we run a distillery, we do this.

And we went with a guy that we thought was the most Legit didn’t work out. We ended up buying him out, but he’s a great guy and we learned from him. Now we’re with a new guy and he’s hustling for us. I mean, we’re at the comedy seller. How crazy is that?

We were drinking butdega cat old fashion at the comedy seller, and I was like, this is funny, this is cool, Okay, Samorell, What are your ambitions in life? Sam says it’s hard to say. I could say myself doing this the rest of my life, just burning hours and billing an audience. But I do have other ambitions. I love movies so much.

I grew up really obsessed with movies, all kinds of movies. Film, noirth or even now, but forties, fifty, sixty, seventies were my favorites. I mean, the sixties and seventies in Hollywood was such a cool era. Yahoo profiled Hannah Berner, already known for her comedy on social media, showcasing on the street interviews and stand up work to her two point nine million TikTok followers and one million Instagram followers, but the attention that came from her Netflix special or on a different level. Hannah said, it was so weird.

Look when it was charting and I was like, wait, so everyone sees that or is that just my account? I really put a for six years into this one hour, so to be able to let it go and for people to enjoy in their own homes, it has just been the best part of everything. I never thought I was going to be a stand up comedian. I always wanted to be a professional tennis player, and that’s where I put my whole childhood and up until college. I think this Netflix special is so interesting because it wasn’t on my original path.

A lot of people can relate to having something you thought you wanted and then realizing as you grow and learn about yourself, what’s actually better for you. When I first did stand up comedy, I was like, wait, this is tennis, but I don’t lose. This is fun With tennis. I had a lot of pressure from coaches and family and my own pressure I was putting on myself, so comedy I just went into it being like, let’s actually make this fun and let’s enjoy what my life’s going to be instead of been feeling like a pressure cooker all the time. Hey, good news for me.

I was sitting here, I’m reading you the Hanna Burner story and I’m like, oh, you know, I really could go for one of those buffalo chicken raps from the smoothie place.

And then I remembered, true story.

I went there last night and got an extra wrap. It’s sitting in the fridge. I don’t even have to go out. This is amazing. From The Scotsman, your home for comedy news, comedian Roscoe McClelland as a rare heart condition, but he’s still performing with the Edinburgh Fringe.

Roscoe writes in The Scotsman, as a stand up comedian, it feels like my sole job is to make people laugh. I travel around the country from town to town most weekends and it’s exactly what I do. Usually. The topics I poke fun at are very basic, the weather, politics, even myself. When the Fringe comes, everything changes.

You’re afforded the space to breathe as an artist, which I find incredibly freeing from September until June, I assume the role of role in the Forger, a medieval floutist who performed once a year in the court of King Henry the Second. Every year he was obliged to perform something that looks like latinum translates as one jump and whistle and one fort This year, in Edinburgh, I’m performing a brand new show called Sudden Death. The through line of the show centers around a heart condition I was born with, called long QT syndrome, a heart rhythm disorder that causes fast, chaotic heart beats. Some people may find a bizarre that I don’t follow the rules, or that I seem to be playing chicken with my own existence. I understand there are people who had LQTS and didn’t get the chance to be diagnosed before their lives were said cut short.

I don’t mean to sound flipping or braggadocious. I understand that I’m very privileged to still be here to write this piece. But the way I perform my style of comedy is exactly the same way I live my life. I think of it as a tightrope walk. The higher the rope, the greater the risk.

The greater the risk, the greater the reward. The idea of dying, whether it be on stage or in my actual life, doesn’t scare me. I’ve accepted it as an inevitable consequence of the way I choose to go about my work in recent years has made me braver. If anything, I find a care less about what audiences might think of the topics I mind for comedic material, and through that my convictions have become emboldened. Roscoe McClelland a sudden death at Monkey Barrel Comedy nine o’clock.

Until twenty five of August, the Washington Post had profiled some DC comedians, one of them Stephen Chen, an absurdist comic from Maryland. He said, growing up, I went to the McLean Bible church where we had a Jewish pastor. Still pretty funny, come to think of it, that might be the basis of my humor. It’s a pretty normal thing, but there’s something silly about it. The twist that flips expectations is so strange it seems like it’s been made up.

I’m surprised that place didn’t churn out more comedians. My goal is to trick people into thinking I’m onto something that I’m making a good point, and then I pulled the rug out or pause to make them realize it’s all nonsense. I explain on stage, and sometimes I know I’m weird. My comedy’s like jazz. I want people to say.

I think he was doing comedy. He was on stage, but I don’t know if he knew he was supposed to be there. People were laughing, but he wasn’t like telling jokes. They asked him what his day job is? Good answer if you were to consult with my LinkedIn I’m currently a chicken baptizer at Chick fil A, but in reality, I produce videos and support corporate culture development for a healthcare IT company.

I don’t think i’m at liberty to disclose the company’s name, as I had to change my name and disaffiliate from them on LinkedIn after my profile was discovered by human resources. And that is your comedy news for today. If you enjoy the program, tell a friend about it. They might like it too. See you here tomorrow,

Two fantastic new comedy specials James Adomian and….Matt Rife!

Caloroga Shark Media. I’ll tell you all, this has been pretty busy. There’s a lot of news. The episodes have been a little longer, and I’ve been squirreling stuff away because i know Labor Day comes and it kind of dips. But there’s a lot going on today.

Be a little long again and it’s good. Hi. I’m Johnny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Jeff Goldbloom sat in for Jimmy Kimmel last week and said, according to a new study, cigarette smoking in America is the lowest that it’s been in eighty years. The study was funded by the world renowned Institute of Vaping.

Is actually healthy and cool as hell, Jimmy Fallon said. Ahead of the Democratic National Convention, Kamala Harrison Tim Walls are taking a bus tour together through Pennsylvania and this is interesting. It’s the same bus that Democrats through President Biden under That’s pretty good. Don’t forget to follow the Ballots podcast. We’re live from the DNC all this week making fun of everything, so check that out.

Fun one from the Daily Mail. Remember Terry Sandel was in Australia and he got heckled and he said, how this, I’ll screw up. Jim Jeffries at a show in New York. If it works to solve the Gaza’s crisis, then it’ll work to help First Nations people well. Jim Jeffries was asked about it by some TV hosts, specifically the Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Jim says he’s never met Seinfeld, which is weird because I’ve met Seinfeld and the pair have mutual friends. Jim said, I don’t know if he meant that as a threat, but I’m so up for that. Jim joked, if I were halfway through a show in New York and I was being heckled in the heckler was Jerry Seinfeld talking about aboriginals. The rest of his comments were bleeped out of the broadcast. Jeffries says he has no problem with a public beef, explained that a heckler at one of his shows in Perth that’d be removed by security.

He’s saying Trump fans don’t have a sense of humor. Trump fans don’t have a sense of humor about Trump. One of the hosts asked why Jim Jeffries isn’t voting for Trump. He says because it makes it harder for comedians. He makes it harder for us.

All speaking of Trump, Sarah Cooper, Remember Sarah Cooper, She was on TikTok and would pantomime to Donald Trump and I would kind of eye roll that and people got really mad at me.

And then she got a Netflix special and then she kind of like came around and …

Remember Sarah Cooper, who’s really good in the Unfrosted movie. Well, she’s back on TikTok and she’s back to pantomiming Donald Trump. I shared a clip in the Facebook group. Did you hear me? When I saw the group?

Did you hear me from your house going are you kidding me? And such words? Did you hear me screaming into the universe with this? Sarah Cooper back on TikTok pantomiming to Donald Trump. All right, if you follow the Facebook group, which is Daily Comedy News podcast group, or if you follow me on threads at Daily Comedy News, where I’ve been hanging out a little bit, you heard me mention mystery embargoed special that I liked a lot.

I will now reveal it to you. It is James Adomian’s Path of Most Resistance and good News. It’s on the eight hundred Pound Gorilla website now. If you want to watch it now, or if you want to keep your walle closed, wait until September nineteenth and you can watch it on YouTube. It is fantastic.

I was really into it. I laughed out loudlol, as the kids say. Now, I was venting to one of the listeners on a side conversation. One hundred percent of the time. I don’t mean ninety nine percent of the time.

One hundred percent of the time. If I put on a comedy special, my wife shows up halfway through it, and then I have to pause it and talk to her, and then I can never get back into the specials anyway. James Adomian one of the top specials of the year. I’ll give you an updated list in a second.

Also one of the top specials of the year.

Matt Rife his new crowd Work special. I liked it a lot. I commented in the various socials again Daily Coming to News podcast group and Daily Coming News on threads. It’s funny. I went into it probably like, Eh, this is gonna suck.

I’m gonna last four minutes, and then I watch something. No, it’s funny. Is it high art? No, it’s not trying to be high art. Sometimes things can just be fun, and this is just fun for an hour, and I felt like I was hanging out in a club and caught a comic on a good night.

You could see Rife is naturally funny. He’s quick. The special moves along. Your wife shows up forty seven minutes into it and you have to hit pause, and maybe you don’t enjoy the last fourteen minutes as much as she did the first forty seven. That could happen to you.

But Matt Rife Special liked it a lot. I’ll give you the updated listener a second. The Daily Beast wrote one of eight trillion Matt Rife articles that came out. They write, Rife seemingly wants a do over of his poorly received debut, returning to his roots as a CrowdWork comedian. The entire special centered around the concept of dreams, hence its title lucid.

Bizarrely, Rife never actually brings up the topic of lucid dreaming, and said he asked questions around ideas of aspiration, literal dreaming, and failed chances. While at times it does provide some cohesion and miss a style of comedy that lends itself to a more scattered approach, it also restricts him at times, making it seem more like a live poll ar Q and a session than a comedy show. Yeah. No, it definitely feels like a Q and a session after a proper set on that. One of the big falls of crowd Work, they write, is that it relies on stereotypes, with comedians forced to make snap judgments based on limited interactions.

This is a trap Rife falls into. At the starting. It compares one of the only black men in the audience to Cam Newton and makes another joke about another man’s queerness. I’ll comment there without spoiling there is a joke where he’s talking to a crowd member and she mentions her age, and Rife slams that one home. There’s also a joke that I think this article is referring to here about quote another man’s queerness, and I think Rife slammed that joke home.

Both those lines that I’m trying not to spoil got big laughs out of me, So I disagree here with the Daily Beasts. They write, He’s still reliant on a lot of the low blows that have helped him become viral on TikTok. He us the stereotypes in mockery, but this time he seems less afraid to mock himself too. It’s pretty good, all right. Let’s take a look at the updated list of best of twenty twenty four.

I haven’t done this in a while. Number one, the best thing of the year is the roast of Tom Brady. Number two David Tail’s Hot Cross Buns that’s on Netflix. Three Triumphs, you lucky bastards. That reminds me have to watch the new triumph that came out.

That one is on YouTube. Number four is David Cross’s Worst Daddy in the World YouTube. And I have in my parentheses here laughed exclamation point and as you know, I’m a psychopath, doesn’t laugh at comedy specials. Number five making its debut at number five, James Adomian’s Path of Most Resistance currently on the eight hundred pound Goerilla site. Six is Dusty Sleigh that’s on Netflix.

Kyle Kinane on YouTube, Dirt and app. At seven, Matt Rife making its chart to debut at number eight. Lucid on Netflix. Just discussed Sam Morrel’s You’ve Changed on Amazon at nine. To Meet You Martin on Netflix at ten.

Jimmy Carr is a national born Killers at eleven. That’s the end of the top tier. I won’t do the whole list today because I got a million things to talk about, and that’s plenty to give you to watch.

Speaking of crowd work, from eight hundred Pound Gorilla again, they’re cover…

They write, crowd work has taken on a whole new life. Blah blah blah. To dress this higher matter, Comedian, actor, and podcaster Andrew Santino shared a message about CrowdWork at comedy shows ahead of his upcoming headlining tour. In a sketch turned promo, Andrew Santino pokes fun at crowd work and gives an important reason why you shouldn’t be worried about attending one of Andrew Santino’s shows this fall. In the clip, he poses as an alter ego version of a stand up doing crowd work in today’s comedy scene.

Before fumbling with his own jokes that intended to appear cheap, He starts doing CrowdWork by poking at one guy in a bandana, but then he mostly pokes a fun at himself when he says to the normal looking Santino, what’s up with this ginger ash bitch? Nice hair bitch? Hey, I bet you this redheaded guy puts on sunscreen at night and calls him an orange sickle. Then, after leaving the Hollywood improv in La, the normal looking Santino quickly sees himself getting crowd worked on TikTok almost instantaneously after leaving the show. Then we see that guy’s life start to fall apart as his girlfriend leaves him, saying the viral clip was embarrassing for her.

He gets let go from his job. At the end, we see him considering it was something horrible. We don’t want to joke about that. That’s not funny. At the end, the real Andrew Santino appears and says at the end, come see me on tour.

I promise I won’t do any crowd work so much to get to today, Let’s keep going. In the Facebook group Dylan, who’s one of the regulars, he commented on I guess it was Thursday’s show last week and commented on my comments, saying, this is Dylan speaking. Interesting take this morning on who is the queen of comedy, I’d argue it’s Taylor Thomas, and it’s not close. Network show sells out everywhere. She prefers smaller venues to basketball arenas, but is routinely selling out five thousand seed arenas.

Her last three specials have all been great. Nikki Glaser is riding the high the Brady Roast where she was amazing, but her special was mediocre by comparison, and it’s just now beginning to consistently headline theaters. Until very recently, she’s mostly still doing the clubs or featuring for somebody like Krascher or Spade. Granted it was not your typical feature. She did forty minutes when I saw her open for Spade, but that’s a long way from selling out several nights in a row three thousand and five thousand seat venues, as Taylor’s done for most of this year.

You know, it’s the Internet. I know I’m supposed to go, no, Dylan, You’re stupid. That’s a horrible thing. But my real reaction is, you know what, Dylan’s right, You know that what I was doing that nicky thing. I had this nagging sensation that I was forgetting somebody, and apparently I forgot Taylor Tomlinson shifting gears.

This is not funny at all. Victoria Jackson remember her from Saturday Night Live. She has delivered a somber message to her followers. She was on SNL from eighty six to ninety two. She says she has about three years to live.

She had previously survived breast cancer. She put out a video which she titled is the Cancer Back, And she said they can’t operate and cut out the marble in my chest that’s laying on my windpipe and eventually would suffocate me to death. They’re giving me a magic pill meant to shrink the marble. Jackson is sixty five and explain that online research showed her that people taking the drug typically have thirty two point six months to live or quote something like that. Eugene and Dan Levy will host the Emmys on September fifteenth.

They were hoping to get Jimmy Kimmel. He doesn’t want to do the Oscars. Langston Kerman, as a special out tomorrow on Netflix, talked about the influence of John Mulaney on his career. They had spent some time on the road during mullani’s tour. Langston said it wasn’t much of a deep analysis of my jokes or punching up or fixing as much as it was just hanging out and him checking in to see the status of things.

When the time came to find a director for the special, Langston flowed some names and m’laney volunteered to do it himself. Bad Boetry was filmed at Chicago’s Green Mill, with about one hundred people in the audience in a stage set behind the bar. Mulani cause the look of the special ridiculously funny. Kerman said he did not want to emulate particularly hyper intimate, more confessional type specials like as He’s and Sorry or Gerard Carmichael. Kerman jokes about heckling amateur softball players while on Shrouom’s I hop Icon Encounters hating his former students.

He was a teacher. Yeah, I had him on last year. If you want to go back, probably last July, if you want to go way back in the feed, he was cool at the unending glee he gets from screening dating site potentials for his mother in law. Will there be more of Everybody’s in La, in which Langston Kerman was a writer. Langston said had Netflix asked for more than the original six episodes, he would have wept in front of his wife and child, but he believes they could have found a way.

Langston Kerman’s Bad Poetry, directed by John Mulaney tomorrow on Netflix. Rob Schneider has apologized to his daughter Ellie King following her criticism of him. There’s been some back and forth. Rob told Tucker Carlson that he hopes she will forgive him. Last week, King had said that Schneider wasn’t involved in her life growing up up.

King said, right now, we’re not flowing. I disagree with a lot of things. He says. Ultimately, you can’t control anyone else’s actions. You can’t control people’s feelings.

All you can control is how you react to what you do with your feelings. Schneider told Tucker Carlson, I just want to tell my daughter I love you, and I wish I was the father in my twenties that you needed. I clearly wasn’t, and I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings. I love you completely. I love you entirely, and I just want you to be well and happy with your beautiful baby Lucky.

I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know I don’t take anything you say personally. I love you, and I feel that God has gifted me this moment be able to tell you I love you and I accept you, and I apologize for any of my shortcomings. My heart is your home, and home is a place that when you go there, they have to let you in. I love you and I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this.

But this is a great opportunity because we could talk about families. I mean, show me a perfect family out there, and I’ll be shocked. All I want for her is to be happy and to heal from this. I apologize completely for and accept responsibility for not being the parent that I am now with my new kids. She didn’t get that and I missed a lot.

I do want to get some fringe reviews in this week fringes over on the Weekend Chortle gave Pete Heat’s bogus three stars out of five, apparently in one of the hottest rooms at the Fringe, and they don’t mean like Hey, everybody wants to go there. They mean it’s hot because they write, which can’t be doing wonders for appreciation of his craft. For some reason, it’s a lot harder to be astounded when you’ve got sweat running down your back. Plus the guy’s name is Heat. That’s extra funny.

Heat’s bag is magic tricks, mostly card tricks, interspersed with comedy routines, both of which are performed to a fairly higher standard, although the show is slightly less than the sum of its parts. He’s a perfect foil for a casual audience, but I’m likely to knock out aficionado’s of either art form. The Guardian gave Stevie Martin, not Steve Martin. Stevie Martin four stars. Martin has some fun itemizing the advantages of making comedy online, which cannot be replicated, and she tries to prove the point on stage.

There’s effort award ratio, as one clip drolley demonstrates the host is doing so well online for doing so little, and the analytics available to model online success might those be mapped out of a live arena. You can bet Martin gives that a go too, animizing the show moment by moment with various on screen grids and graphs. She’s at the Monkey Barrel through the twenty fifth and a follow up. I told you last week about Reginald D Hunter and some folks walking out of his show with the fringe. Hunter posted on social media saying there was an unfortunate incident in my new show Fluffy Fluffy Beavers.

As a comedian, I do push boundaries and creating humor. It’s part of my job. This inevitably creates divided opinions, but I’m staunchly anti war and anti bully. I regret any stress cost of the audience at venue staff members related to that. The Eastwood Theater says they’ve canceled a September twenty eighth show by reginal D Hunter due to his controversial comments.

A spokesperson for the Eastwood Theater defended the freedom of expression of artists and it expected audiences to extend some latitude to many acts. However, in the case of reginal D Hunter, we have a commitment to our community and to our values of diversity and inclusion, which we take seriously. They said all customers would receive a refund. I’m related to all of this, Police Scotland said it had been made aware of a hate incident but found no crime and been committed. And that is your comedy news for today.

Don’t forget ballot Live from the Democratic National Convention this week. We also have a new show, five Minutes of Gratitude. What’s that, Johnny Macwell, you know mindfulness is a good thing to think about the things in your life which you could be grateful for in just five minutes. So that’s the number, five Minutes of Gratitude. New podcast there, and don’t forget.

I also host five Good News Stories Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I tell you five stories and they’re all good news. All right, that’s enough for you to listen to see you back here tomorrow

Caloroga Shark Media. Hello, Jenny Mack with your daily company news. Michael Ian Black wrote a piece for the Daily Beast and said, last January, I got into a fight with Andrew Dice Clay. All right, I’m already interested. Right.

Last January, I got a fight with Dice at a stand up comedy club in Naples, Florida. The details of the altercation are unimportant, but at one point Clay threatened me with violence and said, I’m going to show you who I really am. Said in his welcome Back Cutter brooklyn Nes, I was like, I know who you are. You used to be a popular comedian. Love it.

Andrew was booked to do the Early show me the Late. Although I was never a fan. I decided to arrive at the club early to watch the second half of a set, thinking maybe I’d gotten them all wrong and the bullying jerk face he played on stage was just an act. Turns out no, he really is a bullying jerk face. Worse, his act sucked.

It was unfocused, unfunny, and ended with him performing the same profane nursery Rhymes had been doing for thirty years. Lest you think of just being a petty bitch, which I definitely am. I’m doing so in service of a larger point. Right seeing Michael Ian Black, there’s another bullying, a jerk face out there, repeating the same stick he’s been doing for years, Like Clay. A lot of people think he’s a misogynistic jerk.

Like Clay, he wears the same stupid costume he’s had for decades. Like Clay, his actors grown stale, and his crowd size is depleted, and like Clay, he seems angry as hell about it. Who’s he talking about? Donald Trump? I’m not here for the politics of this.

This is Jenny Max speaking. I’m here for the comedy of it. And Michael leean black comedian, says, I was surprised to realize that Trump is essentially just another road comic trotting out all his tired bits from yesteryear. Jerry Seinfeld once said in the documentary Comedian that even if you’re famous, the audience won’t want to give you a few minutes grace before they turn on you if you’re not funny. Trump recently said, hello, Montana, I’ve been all over your state.

Everything’s two hours. When are we going to be there? Two hours? Sir, two hours, Michael ian Black writes, says an observation, it’s mundane as a joke, it’s non existent, but the audience love him and they eat it up, despite the fact that he’s no longer running against Joe Biden. Trump cannelp but pull the audience about which nickname for the president.

They prefer Sleepy Joe or crook at Joe. It’s the equivalent of a comedian doing a Michael Jackson joke. I always thought the comparisons between Trump and stand up comedians were insulting to comedians. A comedian works at their craft, honing jokes, cutting fat, trying to create a coherent and satisfying hour, material that entertains the audience and at times might even make them think. Trumps none of the discipline, none of the thoughtfulness, none of the material.

We have a word for comics like that hacks. Andrew dice Clay is now a hack, so increasingly is Donald Trump. Samuel letters to Michael ian Black. Now there must be a theme. And speaking of hacks, the Daily Beast has the headline Hannah Einbinder is sick and tired of hack comedians.

Both these beasts from the Daily Beast. Hannah was on the Last Laugh podcast. She said, I think my stand up persona was kind of born out of aspiration. This persona is everything that I could ever want to be. People often say that doing stand up is brave, and I disagree.

I think it’s desperate. I needed to do it because they felt bad all the time, and I was like, maybe this will fix it. Now, Thank God, I feel much better being myself and in my life that stand up is just additive and not a survival mechanism. Now that her A Special has come and gone, Hannah says, I’m very, very proud of it. But you know, some of those jokes have been doing for years and years and every night on stage.

So while I love the material and I’m proud of it, I’m never going to say those words again. And I’m so fine with it. There’s no greater feeling for me as a stand up comedian than feeling excited about a new chunk, new section, new line. Than newness is what makes feel love for the art form. They then discussed Jerry Seinfeld’s comments about the extreme left running comedy.

It’s ridiculous. You just have to be smart when marginalized groups have heard every joke under the sun at their expense. It’s not that they can’t tell jokes, it’s that they’re sick and tired of hearing the hack. If you will, we’re done in crap. That’s easy and low hanging fruit.

I get to speak to my experience of being queer and being a woman and being Jewish. I actually I don’t have any problem with jokes at my expense, with the expense of any groups I may belong to, if the joke is smart, I really don’t. I think everybody, especially people from marginalized groups, have to laugh to keep from crying and have to laugh at themselves, and we do. We’re just asking for better material. And I think a lot of stand up comedians are really hardened in their perspective.

There’s an inherent personality trait of a being like, this is what I think, and everybody pays to listen to me say what I think. So I’m the arbiter of what’s what. So they don’t want to be told they’re wrong, and they don’t want to have to waver and change when their work is built around having a staunch perspective on something. When you call someone out on something and they get defensive. It just shows sort of a lack of evolution people who self reflect and go, I wonder if they’re right, maybe I’m wrong.

I can learn from that. That’s actually more impressive to me. Johnny Mack, you never talk about Matt Riife. I know, all right. Cracked said, you got to hand it to Matt Rife.

Only a few years ago he was self funding YouTube specials. Riife said, people kept checking you see if I had an only fans page, and I was getting tweets all the time being asked about it. That’s when the adult theme platform exploded, and I thought that if I named the special OnlyFans, it would be a number one Google. Krack says, for the record, a peerce Matt Riife does have an only fans page. His last post earned him more than ninety one dollars in tips.

A go fundme campaign raised thirty thousand dollars for the twenty twenty one special despite only forty people attending the taping. Only Fans now boasts thirteen million views on YouTube. Riife says, I have a very dark sense you that it’s not going to be for everybody, but millions of people love that special. Including the tens of thousands of people I ran that set by in preparation for that special. It helped me find an audience that’s going to be with me for a longer period of time.

The only thing I regret for my last special was not putting in any crowd work. I didn’t want to do any of that because crowd work was what because I’ve become known for, which is fantastic, but it can also pigeonhole you. His current special is all crowd work. What I love about crowd work is it doesn’t burn anything. It’s new for every single show.

It’s exciting for me, and I take great pride in that because so many comedians don’t switch up their set at all. Jim Gaffigan tweeted the question is there a twelve step program for gardening? Only half joking. Jim then shared this clip. It’s a little long and not all that funny, and he’s showing some vegetables on what appears to be his kitchen counter.

Let’s listen to Jim Gaffigan for a minute. Don’t hit skip. You got to sit through this. I did, Hey, how are you hey? Jim Gaffigan here, and I wanted to just check in.

I love gardening. It’s very rewarding. I mean it’s it’s you know, but the harvest, like this is just bananas. I mean it’s not bananas. That would be great.

I would like bananas. But let me just show you some of what I got here. So like, look, I like banana peppers, but like, has anyone I mean, no, one’s that much squash. I’ve never even seen someone eat this, you know. I guess you could make those nasty noodles green peppers.

I’ve made chapska salad three times and my family threatened to kick me out of the house. But the eggplants, who’s ever? I don’t know if grocery stores have these many eggplants.

And then tomatoes.

You know, by the way, none of my tomatoes look like tomatoes. They look like someone beat up a tomato. From the BBC. Telling hilarious or embarrassing stories from your personal life is something many stand up comedians do. What about turning your periods into a laughing matter.

That’s what Bella Humphries has done for her show at Fringe. After being diagnosed with pre menstrual dysphoric disorder PMDD. Symptoms of the condition can include extreme mood swings, depression, and anxiety. One of Bella’s jokes has already been named among the festival’s best. She says sharing her experiences of PMDD on stage has been very empowering because she’s been able to find the funny and some dark times.

It’s very personal. It’s very honest, a bit rot times, but still very funny, I think, and I’ve been told that by lots of other people. All Right, the joke in question, I’m sure she tells it better. There are times that I feel so low I think the only way out is to get in my car and drive as fast as a canon into a tree. But I’d never be able to go through with it because I’m a feminist.

I wouldn’t want that legacy for female drivers. Charter All reviewed a few shows at the Fringe. Let’s take a look Rose Matta Fayo’s on and On and On. They gave four stars out of five. The story of her involuntary singletom is so much more than a catalog of ex boyfriends and bad dates.

Instead, it’s a more personal look at her place in the universe, what drives her and why she hasn’t coupled up taking in some astute observations about the wider world rolled along the way. She has an arm’s length relationship with self analysis, adopting a silly voice when she mentions healing herself as she’s not really at ease with such concepts. We learn of her first encounters with posh people they are not native to her New Zealand homeland, the dumpster Fire thoughts she’s committed to her iPhone notes app, and how googling and incognito mode reveals your true self. She fears for the state of the self absorbed gen Z and bashist Taylor Swift fans for being basic. Lewis Katz’s show is called Bountiful.

Chortle gave it three stares out of five. Obviously an intelligent guy, lewis Katz’s fringe debut is a pushback against dumbing down, primarily in the reduction of every complex issue to a US versus them binary We’re the good guys, they’re the Nazis, with the boundary conveniently movable. Essentially, Bountyful is a plea for more nuance, at least just the basic acknowledgment that life is not so black and white. That’s true of his own stand up, which often makes smart connections to produce a rewarding punch lines, but is just as likely to feature a low brow penis joke. And there’s no surprise in which land better with audiences embracing gags with the least complexity, so underlining his central complaints, love it.

He has no time for the shortcuts of winning fans by posting crowd work clips, being offensive for getting angry over some fake trivial issue. That said, he does become arranged by the semi colon. He thinks it’s unworthy of its prime place on the keyboard. He expresses in a rant hilarious for its overreaction. I’m looking here.

Yeah, it’s right next to the L, isn’t it? And the full colon is the shift. Yeah, that does seem weird. Counter in two of thinking yields the best rewards, such as his bid on the one sex act where consent makes it worse, A routine that started with what the other Lewis in comedy got up to. Other close to the edge of materials, such as jokes about his wife’s weight, have a trickier passage.

Sounds like a fun show. That’s your comedy news for today. If you enjoy the program, tell a friend about it. They mayn’t like it too. The Facebook group is Daily comed News Podcast Group.

I’ve been more and more active on threads and getting a lot of traction there. High threads, friends on threads. I’m at Daily Comedy News. Isn’t that nice? On Twitter, I’m still at dcnpod because the person who has the handle I would want tweeted once eight billion years ago, and good luck getting anyone Twitter to respond to you.

See you tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media. Am I supposed to believe this story? I’m Johnny Mack with Your Daily Company. Is from US magazine. Jimmy Fallon got lost in Bavaria but met new friends who drove him home.

Yeah, I’m supposed to believe this story. Okay, here’s how it goes. Jimmy Fallon is hiking in Bavaria and he got lost, and a clip Jimmy Fallon shared on Instagram, Jimmy Fallon is seen riding in the passenger seat of a convertible as he panned the camera. A woman was seen driving the vehicle and her son, Leon was in the back seat. They’re jamming to Queen’s Killer Queen.

Fallon exclaims, Yes, Jimmy Fallon captured the upload. I pretzol emoji Bavaria. The other day I got lost in the middle of nowhere in Bavaria. Thankfully, I made some new friends who offered to drive me back to my hotel. If you run into Leon or his mom, say hi and thank you from Jimmy.

Also shout out to radio station ninety three point seven of Bavaria great music. On a TikTok, Jimmy shared that he went for a walk to go look at the lake, which he didn’t end up finding. While listening to quote some book about breathing, Fallon made a left turn and didn’t think much about it. I end up going in someone’s yard and I don’t know where I am. I’m lost.

I’m completely lost. He attempted to use his phone, which was at five percent, at which point he realized he was almost two hours away from his hotel. He tried taking a short cut through a field, but the grass was getting taller and he was worried about getting bit by a snake. Fallen heads back to the main road, as the story goes, and put his thumb up to hitchhike. Yeah, there’s no one Jimmy Fallon could call.

There’s no Calves, there’s nothing. Jimmy Fallon is hitchhiking in Bavaria. After attempting to catch a ride with a stranger, Jimmy Fallon found his way to an autobody shop, where he met a fan who turned out to be Leon and offered him and ride back to his hotel. Jimmy says, we’re driving, and then Queen comes on the radio, Killer Queen, and we start jamming out and laughing tops down, sun is shining. Jimmy said he will never forget Leon and his mom, and we called nice people invited them to come see the tonight show.

Jimmy said, now I’m in love with Bavaria. I always thought I’d love it, but now I’m just wow. Yeah, all right. Sebastian Maniscalco, his poblicist, needs a raise. A lot of articles about Sebastian and this big concert he’s doing tonight.

This one’s from the La Times. They write the only thing comedian Sebastian Maniscalco really knew when he came to Los Angeles from the suburbs of Illinois twenty six years ago is they wanted to make people laugh and hopefully make some money doing it, at least enough to live on and keep his Italian family off his back about the dubious career choice of pursuing stand up comedy. Since then, a lot has changed. As he strives through the underground labyrinth in the whole of the two billion dollar spacecraft, looking into a dome, wearing snug black jeans, a heavily starched leopard print jacket, and perfectly cough silver hair, you’d think he owns the place. Sebastian the first comedian ever to perform at the Into It Dome.

He says, if you would have told young me, hey in twenty twenty four, just so you know, you’re going to be performing where the Clippers played basketball in an arena, I couldn’t comprehend it. Back then. That felt like something fame was never in the cards for me. Am I surprised that I’m doing this. I mean, I don’t know.

I just feel like I’ve worked so hard at what I do and people seem to enjoy the fact. You know that they come to see me an arena like this is flattering, Quite honestly, I don’t know if it’s even really kind of hit me yet. Anytime I do anything, I just think, where am I working tonight? I’m working at the comedy store tonight, and I’m working at the end to at Dome August seventeenth. I just feel like, you know, gonna work.

I just want people to say that I’ve never disappointed them at a show. That’s kind of what’s most important to me. You come to my show for an hour and a half, you’re gonna forget that your mother’s dying. You’re gonna forget the you know what, you just reminded me that my mother passed away earlier this year. Sebastian, this isn’t working at all.

That totally backfired, Thanks Sebastian. Now I have to sound fun for another ten minutes. Thanks Sebastian. You come to my show for an hour and a half. You’re gonna forget that your mother’s dying.

You’re gonna forget the you just told you have high blood pressure. Your goal is when you come here and watch comedy and forget all those things. It’s like medicine that didn’t work at all. Sebastian, you have totally funked me up.

Now for the rest of the pod.

The Innate Rate Tour is a new set about catching his fans up with his life as an older father of two young kids five and seven years old, and the pitfalls and parallels of life as a professional funny man as well as a dad. It’s a type of comedy he barely is time to rehearse because he’s too busy living it. Oh, publicist, you got that done. But while some comics thrive on the mundane life events of shopping for groceries or going to the mall, picking the kids up from soccer practice. Sebastian’s career no longer gives the time to live those things.

Instead, it’s more about the things he misses when he’s on the road. He says, went to a water slide party yesterday with my kids and my wife, and I realized how I’m not part of the dad crew because I’m out of town a lot.

Meanwhile, they’ve been hanging out for three years.

I felt like it was my first day at high school trying to find a friend. I would imagine someone would recognize him and want to talk to him. Looking back, everything happens for a reason the way it should. But yeah, I wish I would have started having kids a little earlier, because you know, start looking your life and going, Okay, my kid’s five, I’m fifty. I’m almost double the difference between my father and I, And you start to think, am I going to be around for this kid when he gets married at thirty five?

He might be changing my hyper on his wedding day. A lot more of that article, maybe I’ll pick it it tomorrow. A Fox spoke to Carol Burnett, who was nine twenty one years old. She described how comedy has changed. As for the golden era of shows such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Carol Burnett says they’re funny in character driven, they’re not scantological or blue.

She called modern day comedy boring and not funny. I’m not a prude, but sometimes I think some of the stuff today it’s been kind of easy to get a laugh by being a little blue. I don’t mind if it’s within the character, but if they do it just to say a bad word, I think it’s boring and it’s not funny. Funny is the Dick Van Dyke Show? Funny?

Is Mary Bob Newhart all in the family and they hold up today? Some people she would still like to work with. I would say Meryl Streep because she’s funny and boy can she’s sing. George Clooney for obvious reasons. Bradley Cooper for obvious reasons.

I’ve had good fortune of working with in my career, with over three hundred people because of my show eleven years, two guest stars a week. I’m just so lucky. Las Vegas Magazine has spoke to Carlos Mencia. He’s been doing a show called Stars of Comedy at Harris Well. Had that appen Carlo Smincia, He says, you know, I expected at some point in my career to do this.

I’ve been touring consistently ever since I started doing stand up in eighty eight. To be in Vegas and have these people coming to me instead was very, very inviting. Another thing I felt was I need to do something different, something new, something more challenging. I thought it would give me a different jolt of energy, and it has. I’ve done four shows, and they’re all about sixty to eighty percent different.

When an opportunity presents itself like this one, I’m gonna enjoy to the fullest. I’m gonna give myself to it completely, one hundred percent. Not ninety nine point nine, but one hundred percent. Whenever I venture in any endeavors, wherever it may be, I give myself one percent of the moment that I have to that endeavor, so I know at the end of it, I did my best. I gave it to my all.

That’s also something that really makes me happy. Carlos. Do you stay in Las Vegas is Sunday Monday shows? Oh? Hell yes.

I love the fact that in Vegas can get a good bite anytime. Every day is Friday or Saturday, depending on which one of those you like. It’s a twenty four hour city that’s awake all the time. I love that energy. I love that I can wake up at any time and say, hey, let’s go do this.

A British comedian I hear Shaw has a new special coming to Netflix. Shaw is a twenty twenty three Edinburgh Comedy Award winning stand up This is his debut Netflix special, going to be out on Netflix September tenth. There is a clip. It’s a little lengthy. I will comment on the other side of the clip.

Here, let’s listen. My name is Ahershah. That is my name, by the way, Right, I didn’t used to need to clarify this until a few years ago. I was doing this gig in Switzerland. Right.

I was doing a gig in Switzerland, and the theme of this gig was that every comedian was from a different country. Right. I was the British entrant, very modern, and it was one comedian I was particularly excited to meet, right because this guy’s name was Ali Al said right now. Ali is a stand up comedian from the United Arab Emirates. Of all places, right now.

I’d never met anyone from the United Arab Emirates, let alone a comedian from the United Arab Emirates. To be perfectly honest with you, I didn’t think that they had comedians in the United Arab Emirates. I assumed he’d just be walking on stage being like, what’s the deal with unspeakable oil wealth. He’s a very nice man and a very funny man. Right after the show, all the comedians we’re all backstage, we’re all hanging out, we’re all having a laugh, we’re all having a drink.

Not Ali, obviously, right, and we get to talk him and he says to me, like, listen, bro, like we’re friends now, right. I could ask you a question. You’re not going to get offended. I’m like, listen, brother, you’re from Dubai. I’m of South Asian origin.

As long as the question you have for me is not do you want a job on a construction site industrialized slavery? There? You can ask me whatever the hell you like. There’s nothing like that. I was just wondering, when did you decide to start using the hilarious comedy stage name Ahir Shah.

To be honest with you, I don’t really remember, but I think that it was probably around the twenty eighth of December nineteen ninety when I plopped out of mister Shaw and she and mister Shaw had a word between them and decided to call their newborn Bundle of Joy Are here? I think that’s round about when I started going by, Oh here, Charlie’s right, right, right, right right, Okay. One thing you probably should know in case you’re ever around my neck of the words is that in Arabic, your name means prostitute king. Now, there was a long way to go for the setups, but I think they paid off. I laughed out loud.

I’ve talked about the past how I’m a psychopath. It doesn’t actually laugh at stand up comedy. That guy two l for me. So that’s pretty good. A here Shaw, September tenth on your Netflix.

Hey, we’ve got a new podcast coming out. It is called five Minutes of Gratitude. What is it, John, Well, it’s five minutes of Gratitude, That’s what it is. It’s in the title. You listen for five minutes and you get all mindful and you think about where you should be grateful in your life.

Trailers out now check it out. Five minutes of Gratitude Number five Minutes of Gratitude wherever you get your shows Today and Juliet It’s Blues Brothers Con. The sequel, dan Ackroyd and Jim Belushi are back Baby first Age in twenty twenty two. Blues Brother’s Con is the celebration of the Blues Brothers, specifically the nineteen eighty film. Yes, there have been some other projects, but you know those aren’t.

It’s cool. Blues Brothers Con features musical performances by a deep roster of blues acts. The day of music leads up to the main event, a performance by the real Blues brother Is led by Dan Ackroyd and Jim Belushi. Jim has frequently filled in for John Belushey over the years. The event also includes a bluesmobile car show, a blues bar, Bevere tent, and plenty of official licensed blues at Brothers merch.

This sounds like fun. It’s today, eleven thirty am to eleven pm Rayner Shine. Tickets available at Julietprison dot org and Juliet Museum dot org. Proceeds for the event support the Juliet Area Historical Museum, Audible and Broadway Video. That’s Broadway.

I don’t know specifically the ownership or Broadway is associated at least with Lord Michaels in SNL Anyway, Audible and Broadway Video are launching some original comedy podcasts. One is called The Best Man’s ghost Writer, voiced by Glenn Powell. The cast includes a whole bunch of people, including Zach Braff, Deborah Messing, George de Kay, Jack McBrayer, Nicole Bayer, Neil Flynn, you know the janitor from Scrubs, and he was on whatever the Middle was that the Middle, Jason Minzukis, and others. A lot of cast here. I don’t know how this thing’s gonna make any money.

I’ve got some expertise in podcasting. I guess Audible’s got a model where you can pay all those people. You go Audible in that it’s your comedy news for today. If you enjoy the program, tell a friend about it. They might like it too.

Meet you back here tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hello, I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Joe Rogan had on Adam Sandler, and Rogan said to Sandler, it’s so funny because your films get loved by the public and hated by critics and losers recording podcasts in their basement. It’s so hilarious. Like whatever the Rotten Tomatoes critics score is for your films, it means zero nothing.

It’s only the audience would count because your films are so fun It’s so silly and in my opinion, so underappreciated. Really, Joe Rogan, in my opinion, they are over appreciated. Sandler said, I always wanted to get into the movies because I was effing nuts, cocky as crap in my own weird way. I think a big thing that happened to me as I told my friends in high school, I was going to be big and I had to do it. They talked about a whole bunch of things.

I want to thank Dylan, who’s an active member in the Facebook group Daily Comedy News podcast group feel encouraged to join us, who put this on my radar. I was sitting on the beach and I checked the group and I was like, oh, and I listened to it on the beach. Thank you, Dylan. I found it a very nice listen. They started talking about van Halen, so yeah, had a guy from Long Island and Adam Sandler talking about Van Halen.

That is in my sweet spot. So I was enjoying that. Rogan super comfortable in his zone. This was like Rogan at his best because they were just deep diving into comedy and those are always the best conversations. On the Joe Rogan experience a weird move by Adam Sandler.

At one point he’s telling a story and I think he seriously said to Joe Rogan, dono Sarah Silverman, and Rogan was like, yeah, I’ve heard of Sarah Silverman. He was like, that’s not an obscure person to mention Adam. It was kind of weird. They talked about the slap. Rogan said, I think it was the best thing that ever happened to Chris Rock because then his stand up became wild again.

It became outrageous. As for Will Smith, Joe Rogan says, he probably wakes up in the morning he goes, why did I do that? Rogan talked about his own special on Netflix that one no good buzz on that at all, saying, when Netflix said they want to do a live special with me, at first, I was like, f dad, I don’t want to do that. And I said and I told my manager and I was like no. I called her on the phone and I was like what.

But after thinking a bit, Rogan says, I was driving home and I was like, why are you scared to do that? You bleeping pussy cant. As I was driving home, I was thinking. And when I got home, I called her back and I said, don’t say no yet, let me think. The next day, I said, all right, I’m going to do this.

She was like are you sure, And I go, yeah, yeah, I’m gonna do it because I’m scared of it. I was effing terrified. Adam Sandler told a story about his interaction with the late Chris Farley, saying, Farley one time hugged Adam Sandlor so tightly and made his bones cracked. You know who did that to me? Fourley We were in the hallway on SNL out of Nowhere.

Oh no, we were at a hotel and he came at me real fast, grabbed me, put me in some hold and pulled hard. I felt every part of my body crack. It’s a great listen if you want to check that out. Craig Ferguson tweeted He’s got Robert Smigel on, which is great and I have added that to my download queue. Craig tweeted Robert Smigel, along with Conan, was one of the architects of anarchy on late night television from Triumph who was Insane Cartoons on SNL.

His body of work is legendary. Loves spending time with him. I think you will too. I’m looking forward to that one. I had kind of checked out on Craig’s podcast, wasn’t really feeling it.

And I like Craig a lot, to the point where he’s playing the local theater and I asked my daughter to get me tickets, so I’m hoping to go see Craig. Ellen Degenerous is recording her final specials for Nant Fleix tonight and tomorrow at the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis. Closer Magazine said at one of Ellen’s recent shows, she got candid about the isolation she felt when she got kicked out of Hollywood for being mean. She joked about how she scared people constantly on set and realized later it could come off as terrorizing them. She brought up a specific story about an employee named Amber and her fear of snakes.

Ellen says, so sometimes before they came to my office, we’d hide rubber snakes in a panel and a ceiling, and I had a button I could push to leave that to drop out on top. Again hearing myself say this, and then she trailed off. She recalled making headlines that she was the most hated person in America after previously being the celebrity that fans most wanted to babysit their child. She didn’t think she would be able to return to the stage to talk about what happened. She said, the experience is painful and sad, and it caused her to lose her sense of humor.

Tim Dillon is scheduled this week and to tape his mystery political talk show styled special for Netflex. Still no real details about it, including at the time of this recording, where Dylan’s even recording it On Gossip Corner. Bethany Frinkel has apologized to John Mulaney for skipping John Mulaney’s Hamptons on comedy show all Right, What’s the deal here? Bethany from the Real Housewives of New York City explained on TikTok Boy, there’s a combination of things I have no interest in. She talked that she was grateful to be invited to his show on Saturday, and then planned on bringing a friend with her, but explained, because of something that happened the day before, I was having social anxiety.

She says her team reached out ahead of the show to let Mullaney know she wouldn’t be able to make it, but the message never got to the people in charge of seating. Imagine having what is this world? We’re like, you have a team that has to tell John Mulaney you’re not coming to the show. What world is this? During the show, but at the Montauk Point Lighthouse, which was held in support of the Montauka Historical Society, two front row seats remained vacant, with her name on the seat signs.

She said, that’s probably very distracting, especially doing stand up and I’m sorry, and I think you’re so talented, and I love stand up comedy. I hope I get to make it next time, but I’m embarrassed. A source told page six that Berbiglia opened for Melaney and made a joke. Good evening everybody but Bethany Frinkel. Apparently the entire audience went crazy for that one.

Sebastian Maniscalco’s publicist, Yeah, you did your job this week. This from the La Daily News. The big news is Sebastian is playing the brand new Into It Dome in Inglewood that shows tomorrow night. Sebastian says, some of these venues definitely have a history behind them, like the Hollywood Bowl or Madison Square Garden. I grew up in Chicago, so when I go to the United Center, I have memories of the Chicago Bulls winning championships there.

So sometimes it’s a personal connection to the venue, and sometimes it’s a historic one. For me moving out here to LA in nineteen ninety eight, I did all these little rooms all over town, performing at the Comedy Store on Sundays. There used to be a place called Miagi’s near there had sushi in comedy on Tuesdays. I never really thought it would reach to where it has in the sense of performing at these arenas. He will be the first comedian to play the new into a dome and says, I mean, yeah, sometimes you go to city, it’s just another arena that happens to be in that city.

Then you go to the endo it dome and see what’s behind it and how much money was spant to make the experience really beautiful for the fans. To be part of the grand opening weekend, it’s special for me, uh huh, he told the La Daily News. I’ve never done a full arena tour in the past. It’s always been a mix of arenas in theaters. But this time around, we thought, why we just do an all arena tour since we’re gonna be out there anyway, and the production behind it is more than I ever did in the past.

I like to perform in the round, but I found the round stage was a little bit cumbersome as far as me being a physical performer. I like to have some edges on the stage. So we took the in the round and made it a triangle and then replicated that above me on the screens.

And then I made the stage lower to the audience and put steps on the stage wh…

That’s available to me in the past. I felt like it was kind of an island up there, and you know, coming up in comedy clubs, you like the audience right there, right at your feet. I try to make it as good as possible for the audience. I’m coming out on a Vespa spoiler. There’s a whole pre show video with me on a Vespa spoiler, and I’ll enter the arena on a Vespa spoiler.

So there’s some fun reduction things that I’ve added, But you know, ultimately it comes down to when people leave, do they laugh for an hour and a half. I think that’s the most important thing. Oh, so many Matt Rife articles. Now that the special is out, we’ll be talking about martt Riffe for probably a week. The Hollywood Reporter wrote, roughly five minutes into Matt Rife’s new special, he lays out the framework for his audience.

Rather than rely on prepared material as he’s currently doing on tour, he’ll be devoting the next sixty minutes entirely to crowd work. I didn’t get to this one yet. I’ve been hitting the beach and then getting home late and being like, oh, I should probably record some podcasts. So I’ll get to it. Oh, I do have one I want to tell you about it right, let me finish the story and I’ll tell you the one I want to tell you about.

Rife says. Everybody always goes, oh, you’re lucky. All this happened while you’re still young. He’s twenty eight, and I’m like, really, I’m so tired, but no complaints. If being tired is my only worry, I can take that.

Why a crowd works specially says, well, a few things want to play. The main thing was the crowd work has become something I’ve been so predominantly associated with over the past couple of years, and I really do feel like I performed at one of the highest levels. So it felt like something I could do really well, and it hadn’t been done on this scale before being on Netflix and working with a great production and it’s fun to try something that Netflix hasn’t tried before. We’re also in the middle of a two special deal with Netflix right now. Lucid is the first one, and I’m going to do another one next year, so I’m building that next hour of material and I’m touring right now.

I wanted to put out something that could work anytime, and that’s one of the great things about crowd work, and I don’t want to downplay it. This was kind of a side project. Plus I knew that a lot of my fans missed the fact that I didn’t do any crowd work in my last special, Natural Selection, which was on purpose, And it buys me even more time to figure out what I want to put in my next special. Ah, the reporter said. At another point during Lucy, to you address the fact that people take issue with CrowdWork as though it were somehow an easier, lesser form.

Was that premeditated? Matt Raich said, No, just came to me in the moment because we’d hit a point the show where it was just going so off the rails as I’m talking to a woman who really couldn’t even fully hold a conversation. And sometimes the most obvious thing is the funniest thing, and at that moment was very obvious to everyone in the like, Okay, it’s not super easy to make a joke out of everything. The audience doesn’t hand you an alley oop slam dunk every time. I mean, occasionally they do, and it’s miraculous and wonderful, but more often than not, you have to do ninety eight percent of the work, And in that moment, I was doing one hundred and ten percent of the work.

And I think, in the back of my head, I’m thinking, people say this is the easiest type of comedy all the bleep in time, and this movement proves that I have to do so much more work than they imagine. There really isn’t much more to it than that. I just thought it was funny that people have no idea what the bleep they’re talking about.

All right, let’s see who’s at the Columbus Comedy Festival tonight.

Tony Rock at the Funny Bone at seven, and there are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven other shows at seven o’clock, One at seven thirty, Jim Florentines at the Attic at eight, Tony Rock again at nine thirty, ten PM, Chicago Showcase Catching My Eye, and Comedy Late Night Live. Right, if we were there on a Friday night, I would say, let’s do Tony Rock Chicago Showcase, and then let’s do Comedy Late Night Live with Eric Boso at midnight, and then I’ll get back to the room at two in the more so, on Saturday. I’m gonna be cranky. Let’s take a look at Saturday’s lineup. Why John, did you pre record Saturday and forget to do this segment?

No, I just feel like doing Friday and Saturday back to back. I can’t explain why show start at two o’clock on Saturday with passenger shaming, bunch of shows at four pm?

All right, let’s do stand up with the Spot at the Key at four?

Wait, five o’clock the Donut Sunday comedy show. What’s that? That’s up my alley? That was a nice picture of a cute cat improv variety show with Columbus mainstay improv troop Donut Sunday. I would go to that.

Several shows at seven, including Ian Fightance on, a bunch of shows at nine o’clock, including Tony Rock, Sam Jay’s at the Key at ten and at eleven o’clock. So bad it’s good at Killer Clowns from outer Space at Studio thirty five.

All right, let’s do the Donut Sunday guys.

That’s at five, so we’ll need a seven o’clock show. Let’s do eaton Finance. I will need a nine o’clock show if we already saw Tony Rock. Let’s do don’t tell Columbus. I like to see the locals and then we’ll do so bad it’s good killer clowns from outer space.

I don’t know why you guys think I pre tape Saturday and forgot to do the segment. That is just not fair at all. Two Israeli audience members were booed out of Reginald D. Hunter’s comedy gig at the Edinburgh Fringe, says Yahoo, well why. Apparently they objected to a joke comparing the Jewish States to an abusive spouse.

American stand up Reginald Hunter was heard telling two audience members to leave his Fluffy Fluffy Beavers show after they hecking him over the joke, calling it not funny. The incident began when Hunter referenced a documentary titled My Wife, My Abuser, about an abusive partner who publicly claimed that her victim was guilty of abusing her. Hunter told the audience, according to witnesses, when I saw that, I thought, my god, it’s like being married to Israel. Two people in the audience, who said they were Israeli objective of the joke, saying it was not funny. There was an exchange in which Hunter asked the pair to leave the bear faced booze and calls from other audience members to leave.

The comedian continued once they left, recounting he was once made aware that someone from the Jewish Chronicle would be watching his show. I will read this next paragraph verbatim to report the news. I don’t want letters from you, the paragraph reads. After the show, Hunter said his partner sought out the review but could not access it online because of paywall, saying typical fing Jews, they won’t tell you anything unless you subscribe. That got some laughs.

The Assembly Festival, which runs the venue, stated we are aware of an audience member choosing to leave reginal Tea Hunter’s performance on Sunday. The venue front of house team attended and supported the member of the public upon exiting that it’s your comedy news for today on a very very busy Friday. If you enjoy the program, tell a friend about it. They might like it too. The weekend is very robust.

There’s a ton of stories, and I’ve got a bunch of fringe reviews I haven’t gotten to yet, So no filler, all killer this weekend. Huh see tomorrow,

Caloroga Shark Media. Okay, Niki Glazer publicist, you’ve earned your money. Hello, I’m Johnny Mack with your Daily Comedy News from The Hollywood Reporter, How Nikki Glaser became the new queen of comedy now before we even dive in, who would be the queen of comedy right now if not Nikki Glaser? So it’s not an absurd premise. She crushed at the roast of Tom Brady.

Who would you throw up there? Amy Schumer, Sarah one of the SNL performers, So this is not absurd. The subheadline the Tom Brady roast MVP. That’s true and stand up comedian got the Emmy nod for Someday You’ll Die, which attracted the largest debut for an HBO comedy special in two years. Onto the wax Drop from The Hollywood Reporter, Nicki said of her special Someday You’ll Die, I just kind of knew it was going to be nominated for an Emmy.

I hate to sound crazy, the roast was such a big moment for me, and my life changed overnight in terms of recognizability and people knowing who I am. As for the timing, she says, it wasn’t intentional that the roast was going to give this special boost. That was never planned. I mean, I’ll jump in. I can’t argue with HBO of they’re saying it is the most whatever in two years.

But I didn’t feel any buzz on that this week, despite the Emmy nod, despite this Hollywood reporter, I haven’t heard anybody buzzing about that special. They’re buzzing about the roast of Tom Brady and her appearance on that. Oh yeah, absolutely, as she crushed on various podcasts. Sure, but for the special, I don’t know. Just I didn’t see it in the zeitgeist.

And I do do this every day. According to Glazer, she’d been speaking it into existence for months. Nicki says, I was really into manifestation in the fall when I was putting this all together, I just kept saying, my special is going to be nominated, My special that’s going to win an Emmy. I guess I need to win to really make this manifestation happen. The material took me a while to get to a place where it was working the way I wanted to because of the nature of the things I was talking about.

It’s not like I engineered special to fit what I think people need to hear. There’s some gap in the cultural consciousness. In previous specials, Glazer had dipped in here and there with jokes about not wanting kids, and reaction to her material was like, you’re going to change your mind or it’s early if you make that kind of call. Nicki said, I knew I couldn’t take myself seriously about it because I thought, you know, maybe I will. In the article, then talks about her current confidence in comedy.

I’m kind of Malcolm glad willingness. I’m reaching close to those ten thousand hours. What do I really want to say? The subject of fertility made it into her stand up material because it had become a hot topic on a group chat with nine of her best friends, ranging from fellow comedians to childhood friends. Glazer says, literally, twenty four hours a day, there’s someone on it that’ll help you through your problems.

Glazier says, the women take three vacations together each year. Do all nine make the vacation. That’s hard to coordinate. I can’t get my entire family in one room for dinner. One topic that kept coming up was her friends wanting to have children.

Nicki says she couldn’t relate. I’m usually on par with the wants and desires of my friends that I’ve had for my whole life, except here, I couldn’t fathom why you would want kids, and I just felt left out. It’s the first time I’ve ever felt like someone who is at Taylor Swift fan must feel about Taylor Swift fans. Then we go again and see yesterday’s podcast what people say to me, I just don’t get it. We explained it to me.

I don’t not explain it to those people because the feeling I have about Taylor Swift is beyond words. Nicky says it was hard to have those jokes about not wanting my friends to have kids and have my friends see those jokes. I wrote the jokes before. I told my friends that though jokes are in the special, but they understand and says the jokes did not affect anything in regard to their friends’ pregnancies. And my joke is, you have a better purpose than I’ll ever have.

My purpose now is talking to Conan O’Brien about my Libia from Variety. Ellie King open up about her tumultuous relationship with her father, Rob Schneider. King said of Rob Schneider, I disagree with a lot of the things he says. You’re talking out of your ass and you’re talking crap about drag and you know, anti gay rights, and it’s like get eft. King said she was not close to her father growing up and didn’t connect with Rob Schneider until she was much much older, when she had the opportunity to spend time with Rob, who was on a movie set where she would get lost in the shuffle.

If I ever messed up a shot, if I was talking, I would get an effing trouble. A big source of tension between King and Schneider was her appearance. King says, I I was like a really really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp, and then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and didn’t lose any weight. I had already started getting tattooed and it was like one hundred and eight degrees, so I had to wear sweaters because my dad was very anti tattoos or any form of self expression.

She has no plans to mend the relationship with Rob Schneider. Saying she does not want to be associated with Rob Schneider. He’s just not nice. You can want someone to change so much. You can control anyone else’s actions, and you can’t control people’s feelings.

All you can control is how you act and what you do with your feelings. Changing gears Triumphan, the insult comic dog tweets my all new Let’s Make a Poop Chicago edition is on YouTube dot com slash Team Coco with former Governor Rob Lgoyevich, ex cub Ryan Dempster, some people from the WGN Morning News and Wiener Circle, z Owne, Pooci Jackson, also Marjorie Jokes and let me get this one in here before it gets too moldy. Vulture wrote hier Matt Berry as a twenty twenty eight LA Olympics commentator. Now this made me smile because during the pandemic, Vulture once a week would write an article suggesting a job for Matt Berry, and I would do those stories on Sunday, and it really helps kill off. You know, during the pandemic, there was not all that much news, and I was doing this seven days a week, so test sometimes I had to dig deep, and I remember doing that every Sunday and doing at the time reasonably half asked Matt Berry impression, I’ll see if it comes back today.

I haven’t done it probably since then. But Vulture writes finding celebrities won’t be a challenge for an Olympics happening in la but just having famous people around isn’t enough. You need to have the right kind of famous people in LA is a town easily prone to overbooking the wrong kind of famous people. LA is inherent bias towards shiny, happy people risk the overrepresentation of people like Paris Hilton and Mario Lopez. No, you need people who are universally beloved but also interesting to see because they have a mysterious, slightly dark presence.

A good Olympic celebrity mix inclusive choices that make viewers say what why? And Matt Berry is that he’s a cult icon, will take off one shoe to play a scary guitar solo and for a celebrity is rarely seen, and he’s no stranger to big events like this either. He lent his voice to the London Olympics closing ceremony in twenty twelve. Barry recently spoke to The Holly Reporter in which he admitted something stellar. Matthew Berry said, I did an edit here.

I tried to do my Matt Berry. It’s gone. I can’t do it, so I’ll do it iss me. Most of the names I pronounce in correctly are on purpose. It’s because I don’t know what they are.

Especially sports, all these ballgames, baseball, softball, I haven’t got a clue what any of that is. Barry should be included in the LA Olympics because he’s a symbol of cooperation between six different countries. Great Britain, which is three countries, England, Scotland and Wales, Canada where you film what we do in the Shadows, the United States, where that show’s a hit. And Estonia, a country he recently enjoyed visiting on vacation. Hey, we’ve got a new show.

It’s called five Minutes of Gratitude. What is it, Johnny mack Well, it’s five minutes of gratitude. It’s in the title. You listen, it’s five minutes long, and they think about being grateful for things in your life. It’s good for your mental health, feeling good about yourself.

Five minutes of gratitude. Where you get your shows. Let’s see he was at the Columbus Comedy Festival today, a lot of shows. Let’s see Wow at seven o’clock, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine shows. I would go see Irene two at the Key at seven o’clock, Jim Florentine at the Attic at eight, and then your ten o’clock shows, Chloe Radcliffe at the Key, Alex Falcone at Seapac, Manny mckilvey at the Key, and Chad the Bird at Sea Pack.

So yeah, let’s do Irene two and then we’ll do Chloe Radcliffe at ten and then we don’t have to go anywhere. We’d probably grab a drink in between. The eight hundred pound Gorilla promotes their own special It’s Lewis Black’s Thanks for Risking your Life that’s now on YouTube. You may recall on March thirteenth, at twenty twenty, the King of Rants knew the world around him would never be the same. There was a pandemic that you hear about it.

Google it. It was kind of a big deal. Some people podcasts had to do Matt Berry Stories every week, performed just days after the country shut down. Lewis Black talks about the Corona induced anxiety and his own hilarious frustration over the Orange One who must not be named. Black doesn’t take political sides, whether he he’s exposing the widespread systematic failure of both parties or pinpoint any micro stupidities within pop culture.

Rising comedian Matt Matthews announced his Bougie on a budget tour fifty two cities. That tour kicks off October twenty fifth, Live Nation promoting this one. Known for his relatable, situational humor, Matt Matthews discusses a variety of topics and personal experiences in his stand up, including his daily life of living on a farm, his career is a bourgeois photographer, relationships, and more. He will also bring his popular Confessions with Matt video series to the live stage, where he provides a real time comedic take on audience members who voluntarily spill their deepest, darkest secrets. Matt Matthews still Deadline.

Growing up a broke gay kid from the South, I always dreamed of being a performer. But let’s be real, those big dreams don’t typically come true. Thankfully, I decided to take the risk and bet on myself as a comedian. Never in my life did I imagine that I would sign an incredible deal with Live Nation, got that plug in, kiss the Ring for a second headlining tour. I couldn’t do this without the incrediblet of fans, and I’m so excited, honored and humbled that so many people believe in me.

Can’t wait to be back on that stage. Bougie on a budget is going to be wild, and he spelled wild with four d’s chort Ole. Spoke to Katy Green. She’s at the Edinburgh Fringe and she picked her perfect playlist of comedy favorites. Okay.

First up on the perfect playlist of comedy favorites is Girod Carmichael’s Love at the Store. Grod was the first comedian I first saw live that really moved me. I’d never seen a performer be so captivating. He was more than funny, he was pensive and deep and he handled the crowd so well. Next up Mitch Hedberg’s Mitch Altogether.

Do you see the hed Burg aissan’s happening? How often are we talking about Mitch Hedburg? All of a sudden, it’s happening, she says when I started comedy. I didn’t know much about stand up, so I used to go to the library and check out comedy albums on CD. That makes me sound old, but my first car only had a CD player.

Mitch was always my favorite to listen to because he was so talented and the jokes were so clever. I also like how he addresses that the fact that the album’s going to be on CD by saying things like this will be track five or this won’t be good for the CD. It makes it so funny. His albums are great to listen to while driving. I agree he made the most everyday things so funny.

I never pass a broken escalator, not think of an escalator can never break, It can only become stairs. You know what, same thing I owe. Any time I see an escalator that is not running, I think of Mitch Hebberg.

Also, if I’m ever at an amusement park, like say Disney, and I see a frozen b…

Do you want a frozen banana? No? But I might want a regular banana later. She likes Christella Alonso’s lower classy her bit about Selena Kintonia being the closest thing Latinos have to do a superhero is so funny because it’s so true. I lover her stories about growing up and I definitely look up to her.

Azizin sorry, you know he was cancel at one point. Aziz is a Modern Romance. I know this is a book, but I do like to read, so I’ll put it in my playlist. Modern Romance is probably my favorite book about dating, and trust me, I’ve read a lot dating advice from Azazin. Sorry, that’s interesting.

Move on.

And also on her list is Bob’s Burgers.

She says, I love Bob’s Burgers. My guilty pleasure is watching Bob’s Burgers while eating a burger. See now, this whole list is fake because listener, especially for you, I’m gonna ask you two questions. One, have you ever actually seen Bob’s Burgers? You haven’t.

I know you’ve seen primos, and have you’ve seen T shirts? And have you’ve seen merch? I know you’ve seen artwork on your streaming app, You’ve never actually seen Bob’s Burgers. And more interestingly, have you ever met anyone who’s seen Bob’s Burgers? You haven’t.

I know there’s like an icon on Netflix or wherever, but you’ve never clicked it. No one has ever clicked it. There’s no such show as Bob’s Burgers. Allegedly in season fifteen or something. Anyway, she says the show is so relatable because my family has a restaurant and I worked there when I was younger, so it’s so funny to see the Belcher family dynamic.

I just love animated shows like Rick and Morty, but Bob’s Burgers takes the win. And that’s your comedy news for today. If you enjoy the program, tell a friend about it. They might like it too, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media, Hidley Home. I’m Johnny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Tim Heideker is campaigning to play jd Vance on SNL. During his Office Hours podcast this week, Heidecker acknowledged the support of his fans as he called it a huge outcry, a huge movement to get me to play jd Vance perhaps on SNL. He grabbed a suit in some eyeliner to complete the look.

He then auditioned for the role, saying in a not trying too hard Jdvans oppression, saying a lot of crap happened immediately, a lot of crap that has happened on the road’s kind of fed up. In other words, people were kind of rude to me online. I noticed Heidecker got real time notes from his guest, former Mad TV cast member Will Sasso. He then pulled out a bottle of diet Mountain dew and took some swigs. I’d tried to pull the clip here, but it wasn’t just going to work for audio podcast.

Tim Dillon weighed in on the election on his podcast. Tim said, so this frozen of bonnable snowman Tim Walls, and I would respect him if he said we burned down Minneapolis and if we lose, will burn down America. I’d respect that. If he went out and said, you’re damn right, we had riots and January sixth is gonna look like a kid’s birthday party compared to what we’ll do. Will burn it all down.

So they get funnel Cake Dad. Funnel Cake Dad is the folks a history teacher with no money that the Democratic Party thinks that this guy should be president because he’s completely broke. He’s like a character of Jed Bartlett from the West Wing. He lives in the Land of ten Thousand Lakes, and the Democratic Party likes because he’s kind of keeping it all together up there. He called on the National Guard in twenty twenty, but he waited a day.

He let everybody get it out of their system before he called in the National Guard. A lot of these riots, you know, things that he and his wife expressed some level, and they kind of enjoyed these things. Tom Papa has a new Netflix special coming out in October twenty ninth. Filmed at the Warner Theater in Washington, Great Theater, this one was called Home Free. It’s Papa’s third special.

I am a big fan of Tom Papa’s comedy. It speaks to me, especially when he does like dad stuff and husband stuff. Really like it. I can’t remember which Net special it was. I think it’s Your Doing Great from twenty twenty.

There was a lot of clapter in it. It was really awkward. I remember commenting about that on the podcast, that Tom would do these big things and not get any laughs. He’d get claps, but clapter is awful, So hopefully this one has some laughs. In Home Free, Tom Papa holds nothing back as his kids are finally out of the house and it’s just him, his wife, and a bunch of animals ready to return to their glory days.

Tom has seen a lot over the years, from close calls with a Pachinko ball to late Night seven eleven runs, and he’s sharing all his thoughts as he parties onto the next stage of life. Paulie Shore was commenting on when he first saw Robin Williams performing stand up at the Comedy Store in la which was owned by Paulie’s mother, Mitzi Shure. Paulie Shore tells people the guy was special. His improv skills mixed in with the stand up was just another level. It’d literally go on stage and just grab someone’s drink and someone else’s jokes and then do ten minutes on it.

When Robin was going off, everyone gathered in the back to watch. My mom’s office for the comedy Store was at the house, and Robin used to come over to pick up his twenty five dollars check or wherever was. I remember he was in the middle of filming Mork and Mindy and he’d still be in his outfit. We’d just mess around. He was the same guy on stage off stage, just very playful and cool.

Encountered Robin once and oh, I’m brain locking on it. What’s the uh? I know I could look this up and you’re all talking to your phone, But I recorded this yesterday. What was the big comedy fundraiser they used to do on HBO that Why don’t you just look it up, John, because that’s not fun? That thing?

I was at one of those comic relief That’s what it is. Stop screaming your phone. You’re like a crazy person in the car. I saw the comma Robin Williams, you know, not doing that, just just behaving the way most people do when they’re not being Robin Williams on stage. Nice guy Pauli Shore says of his mother, Midsei, she was like a dead mother of these comics.

She’d take them in. Most of them were jobless, semi homeless and didn’t have any money. And if my mom saw that should always make sure they had a place to stay. Robin wasn’t anything like that. He had his own thing already coming in from San Francisco.

This was the late seventies when she was sort of developing him, and his famous skyrocketed soon after. You know what was gonna happen to him. When you saw him, you could tell he was destined to do movies. After he was famous. It always come up to me and give me a hug, ask me how my mom and brothers were doing.

He still fits knew everybody’s hearts. That’s why it wasn’t a normal situation when he died. It was so emotional. He connected with so many people. Look at films like Good Morning Vietnam or all his films.

He always put his heart into it. That came through with who he was as a person as well. Hey, Johnny Mack, how come nobody ever writes any articles about how much Nicki Lazer likes Taylor Swift, I know, right, like somebody. Oh wait, the Hollywood Reporter wrote such an article. I know.

I’ve been commenting a lot lately about publicists earning their money. I’m saving four I think tomorrow there’s yet another Nikki Glaser story about how she’s the queen of comedy. Now tap the brakes. So Nikki Glaser’s publicist, Yeah, you deserve a raise too. A lot of that going around lately.

In the latest episode of the Nikki Glaser publicity Tour, she was asked about a video of her dad and said he’s finally a swiftye. Nicki has not heard from Taylor Swift and says, honestly, I don’t even expect it. Well, not for lack of trying. I don’t think about it. I’m so purely a swifty with no agenda to be in her life.

Forget any status or being in a certain tent. I never want to monetize my love for her, or ever think that she thinks I’m trying to get a headline by talking about her. Oh okay, yeah right, yeah, I’ll just do an article on the Hollywood Reporter about it. You know, I’m not trying to get more downloads by openly calling Joe Rogan a coward and challenging him to a fight in the octagon. I’m not doing that for more downloads.

I’m doing that for my love of Mma. Nicky says. It’s a tool. I’m sure she’s where people are using even though they have nothing to do with her. They sound off about her, and suddenly they’re in an article What Interesting Inside by Nicky Glazer In an article about Nicky glazerking Taylor Swift and the Hollywood Reporter, Boy, Yeah, I hate to think people are Dave dropping Taylor Swift.

That’d be terrible. Nicky says there was part of her that felt embarrassed, wondering if other comedians would make fun of her. Her concern was that people would say she’s doing this to get Taylor’s attention, or she’s doing this for some other reason than just genuinely loving something. She admits she was partially embarrassed to love something so much. I really do want to talk about Taylor Swift as much as my friends want to talk about their kids.

She says she considered putting Taylor Swift content behind a paywall in order to weed out those looking to make fun of her and other fans. She decided against it, saying I didn’t want to make money off it. There was an idea to donate any money from the Taylor Swift paywall stuff to a cause Taylor Swift was passionate about, which a lapine here would get leaked by a publish to the Hollywood Reporter, and we would be reading an article saying Nikki Glaser raised x dollars it donated to Taylor Swift’s charity, and then there’d be a picture of Nikki Glaser and Taylor Shift and the Holly Reporter. Who we getting everybody. I don’t read the comments.

I just send a video to somebody who posts for me because I don’t want to see if I’m being made fun of. Oh You’re not being made fun of at all. Trust me. It’s my biggest fear. But I just love Taylor Swift and I can’t hide it.

Glazer believes swifties will understand her hesitance in not wanting to look insincere. They know that it’s just an unbridled love that doesn’t really make any sense, makes total sense. I may be a swiftye before I’m a comedian. That’s how strongly it resonates in my bones. I really don’t know what I’m gonna do with my life when Era’s War is over.

I really think I’ll end up flying to different cities to go see Taylor Swift sing a long nights because it’s something that I won’t say I’m addicted to, but it’s a joy. I just want to chase joy. I’m gonna catch groof for that Nikki Glaser bit I just did before you get mad at me, go back and listen to that. And every time I say Nikki Glaser, pretend I’m saying George Lopez. And every time I say Taylor Swift, pretend I’m saying George Lopez.

Tacos. That’s all I’m doing there. Hey, we’ve got a new show. It’s called five Minutes of Gratitude. What’s that?

It’s five minutes of gratitude, Little mindfulness for you, five minutes number five, five minutes of gratitude wherever you get your shows. I’m mad I wasn’t at this concert. You think Nikki Glaser likes Taylor Swift? Well, how about this one? Zach Bryan at his Philadelphia show Awesome to begin with, had Bruce Springsteen, the Lumineers, and Shane Gillis.

Why wasn’t I there? This happened last Wednesday at the second night of his two show stint in Philadelphia. One of the Lumineers came out and sang alongside Brian for Spotless. Then Bruce Springsteen came out and they did Atlantic City and they did a song from the new The Great American Bar Scene album, which is a fantastic album. Talk about that in a second called Sandpaper.

My son turned me on to Zach Bryan and he really likes the new album. And I listened to it and I liked it too. And I keep telling my son, you don’t realize it. You like Springsteen, and he thinks he likes Zack Bryan. And I’m like, there’s a lot of Springsteen vibes on that album.

So it’s music we can share together. Isn’t that nice? Uh? Kind of a good album? Check it out from Zach Bryan.

Everybody came back out to sing revival and they were joined by Shane Gillis from Gossip Corner. Did you watch Matt Rich’s crowd Work special? Well, he maybe perhaps possibly has bought a home in Rhode Island, about twenty minutes from the conjuring house. Rife said, I look forward to waking up seeing the sun coming through my window, and the view that I get on a sunny day is just stunning.
