Caloroga Shark Media. You here, I’m shiny Nack with your Daily Comedy News. Maybe I’m just getting to be an old man, or maybe I’m from a different time. I don’t know. You know what’s happening in Austin tonight at the Comedy Mothership, which, as you know, is the popular club in Austin owned by Joe Rogan.
The Comedy Mothership is hosting the Comedy Dating Show, and the show promises the comedians will quote shoot their shot with Christina p for a chance at love. Now. Everyone should find someone to love, and you know, I wish Christina the best. This just feels soon to this old man recording a podcast in a basement. Christina filed for a divorce from Tom back in May.
They only recently confirmed it on the most two recent podcasts, So sure, go ahead and live your best life. It just feels a little a little soon to me. We’ll also talk about Amy Schumer tomorrow. She’s got a new movie about divorce that also feels a little soon. We’ve got a lot of other stuff to cover today.
Starvro’s Halkius was on the Popcast. I spent Saturday sitting on the beach boy, Saturday was one of the all time great beach days. It was like seventy nine, super sunny, super dry. The ocean was as warm as it ever is going to get in the New Jersey area, and it was wonderful. And I listened to podcasts and the popcast and Stavros started talking about one of my favorite topics.
The Riyadh Comedy Festival edits here for pacing, and quite many edits for language. And this is somewhat a long clip, but here’s Starvro’s Halkias taking the money. I kind of understood and understood, but I could see a way where these people that don’t really think about you know, they get a lot of these all and look, oh, let’s be honest, we’re at the top. You think that’s the most evil place some of these guys have performed. You don’t think they’ve gone Northrop Grumman, but you know what I mean.
Like and by the on record, I would never do any of that. But I think when you’re at the highest levels, you probably you start to get a little comfortable with you’re evil, because when that’s where all the money leads, right, anyone is successful, it’s like there’s no you can’t wash your hands of this if you exist in this society, and the more successful you get, the more the closer you get to whoever the illuminati is right like, and so I think there’s a there’s I could see how it just becomes normalized. It doesn’t make me doubt myself at all, because I know it was wrong to do that. I don’t care what those counter arguments are. And I’ve heard people like, well, we’re bringing freedom.
It’s like no, it’s like and they’re like, well we’re evil. It’s like, yeah, America is where we are the we really there’s our foreign policy since World War Two has what’s has been ruining the world. I mean, there’s no way to look at it any other way in my opinion. But I’m just saying like, like, yes that I see their point, where, well, you perform in America, but it’s like, but I’m not performing for Donald Trump and his kids, you know what I mean, Like, I’m not like. And the criticism is that it’s culture washing that it allows exactly.
It would be like doing an ice benefit, you know what I mean. It’s like, like I get that there’s good people in Saudi Arabia. I understand that, and I understand there’s people want them comedy, right, and I want that, but it’s like I don’t want them. By the way, how many of those people were there really is another question I have. My guess is it’s probably the upper class.
But again I don’t know. That’s pure conjecture. I would love it if there was a public. People. Yeah, and this idea that you could say, no, you couldn’t say what you tell me, you could say whatever the Saudi king was had was more lax than like, like you know.
This was Chappelle’s argument. This was Chappelle’s bit about it was he was like, actually I had more freedom there than I did. That’s not where I can’t theovonn. Is getting critical of the President of the United States. On the This past Weekend podcast, the Yvonne asked, why are we putting our troops there there?
Being Iran? It doesn’t seem like we have a real interest. I know, there’s rumors of weapons of mass destructed. Again, there’s rumors of nuclear weapons held by Iran. But I think people a lot of people feel like we’ve fallen for that trap before in Iraq and Kuwait.
It could just be the same sort of fools errand again. THEOVONN then added, you can send your letters to theovon.
Also, Trump, our president, said that we would not go to war with Iran.
It seems that theovugh has noticed that sometimes the president says something and doesn’t follow through. For example, remember when gas was going to be two dollars and fifty cents a week ago Monday, Yeah, that didn’t quite happen. Vaughan was interviewing geopolitics expert Zayquin Jang, which I don’t know, just makes me feel like maybe THEO was out of his depth here. Mister Jeng said, everyone’s looking at Donald Trump. It’s like the war’s lost already.
Just make peace with Iron, just get out of there. And what Trump is doing, he’s doing taco. If you’re not familiar with this, some people say taco means Trump always chickens out. Mister Jang continued, saying, like one day he’s like, we’re gonna end your civilization. The other day he’s like, let’s make peace, guys, let’s just be friends.
And the next day he’s like, now I’m gonna nuke you. Now next day he’s like, oh, you know what, I didn’t really mean that it’s just weird. Theovaugh said, the war feels pointless and bizarre, continuing our theme of maybe perhaps possibly comedians are not the sharpest people out there, like it’s possible they’re not the most well educated people, the most knowledgeable people. Chelsea Handler was upset, Chelsea No, not this time about Joe Rogan making eighty two million dollars. Chelsea was on Kara Swisher’s podcast, which isn’t exactly a podcast for the regular people.
If you’ve ever listened to Kara, Kara might be a little out of touch with the regular people, but I digress. Chelsea Handler shared her concerns about Attorney General Todd Blanche. Chelsea’s concern is that Attorney General Todd Branch might overturn Roe versus Wade.
Now here’s the thing.
Roe versus Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court in twenty twenty two. Chelsea Handler said about Attorney General Todd Blanche, We’re going to get Todd Blanch. He’s going to be confirmed, and he’s going to overturn Roe versus Wade. We’re all sitting around. All these men who have these powerful platforms are sitting around and watching this happen to women, to communities that you could instead be supporting.
You don’t have to like turn over a whole new leaf. It’s just about being a decent human being. Well, here’s the thing about all that the Supreme Court overturned Roe versus Weight in twenty twenty two. It was a big deal. You know how much of a big deal it was.
Jlsea Handler was filling in for Jimmy Kimmel and talked about it, as I said, comedians might not be the smartest people we are political today, Johnny Mac, I know. Bill Maher on his program, argued that immigrants must assimilate to American culture and accept certain fundamental values like gay rights, women’s equality, and free speech, saying those principles are quote not white values unquote, but liberal ones. Continuing to quote Bill Maher, he said, if you want the American dream, you have to take the American values. Biden’s policy of open doors and then Trump’s policy of broken windows. Now I’m on the page of America doing what it used to do so well, stealing hard working, talented immigrants from around the world and making them Americans.
Bill suggested things have changed, quoting Bill again, Now most immigrants still want to assimilate. But I have this other attitude of melting pot. If you you melt. Look, you don’t have to love everything about America. We don’t, said Bill Moore.
That’s why yelp was invented. But you know, if you do get past ice, America is actually pretty cool. We say, you do you eat the food your grandma cooked, speak another language at home, celebrate religious holidays. We welcome your food, your art, your fashion, your first ladies. That’s a good joke.
But you have to answer one question. Do you like Western civilization? Because that’s what we are. That’s not negotiable. Dave Chappelle was upset about people.
I think Dave needs to start reading the contracts when he does shows, because this is not the first time Dave Chappelle has been upset about a curfew. Sometimes you play a venue and there’s a curfew. Dave, you should know this because I feel like once the summer there’s a story like this. Dave was one of the attendees at Lauren Hill’s Diaspora Calling Festival in England, where the headlining set from the Fujis was cut short by producers after an hour. Dave Chappelle was upset that Lauren Hill’s microphone was disabled, as though we’re attempting to address the crowd in regard to the noise ordinance, quoting Dave Chappelle, you’re effing up his you turn the mic off on Martin Luther king Man, you all fed up.
I’ll never forget this. Tell them whoever’s in charge. At the end of the show, a message appeared on the screen reading, thank you everyone. We’re sorry for the abrupt finish. As part of our license, we are legally required to finish the show at eleven PM and cannot continue beyond this time.
On social media, He’ll said to the surprise guests who came ready to rock with us but didn’t get their moment because we hit curfew, We’re gonna have to do this again and make sure the audience gets all that we had planned for them to me and I wasn’t there. It sounds like like is there were what’s the opposite of a curfew? Like are you allowed to start earlier? Like it just feels like this was just misproduced, Like you know how long ish your set’s gonna be back time from there? Maybe don’t take the stage at ten o’clock and be surprised when you can only do an hour and Dave Chappelle, calm down, dude, just calm down.
Congratulations to mega comedian Naprighatzi. He has set a Guinness World record what’s it for Sean most tickets sold for a stand up comedy tour, surpassing the record held by who did you listen to the Monday Ups? I did from the pool? That’s right, Jeff Dunham. Nate sold the two point zero one six million tickets, beating Jeff Dunham’s one point nine to eighty one million tickets.
But it sounds like Maga comedian Nateperghatzy blue Jeff Dunham out of the water because Jeff sold the one point nine million tickets across three hundred and eighty six venues over thirty five months and eight days. Magga comedian Nateperghatzy’s Big Dumb Ice tour, and you can tell how much going to a UFC fight ont of the White House Lawn is hurting Nate’s career. He crossed two million after just sixteen months and ten days and across only one hundred and twenty eight venues and of course, he is now the record holder and does not work with puppets. Despite going to a UFC fight at the White House along the way, Nate broke eighty four venue records. According to his reps, I put the spin on the word his, as if the reps are lying having fun with you, Nate.
He became the only comedian to sell out three consecutive performances at Nashville’s Bridgetone Arena in a single calendar year, a feat matched only by comedian Taylor Swift and comedian gorth Brook. The Maga comedian was crowned by Pollstars the highest grossing stand up comic, with seventy seven and a half million reported twenty twenty five alone, and he still, for some reason, wants to build a theme park called Nateland. I am having fun today. I think it’s because everyone else is home, so I have the door closed to my tiny studio, so there’s probably no oxygen in here. I probably have carbon dioxide poisoning, which is why I’m a little loose.
I do want to remind you I do host another podcast. It’s called five Good News Stories. Here’s how it works. There are five stories and they’re all good news. So I’m never gonna come on and tell you about like murder or horrible things of the war.
It’s all fun stuff, like lost dogs that return home after seven years. We’re Guinness World Records. There’s a lot of those. Just fun stuff. Comes out four days a week.
It is called five Good News Stories. Wherever you get your podcasts, Where have you got this podcast? You’ll find it there. Out yesterday, Danadute has a new stand up special. It’s called Yes I Am Falafel Phil.
That’s out with Comedy Dynamics. They waited until late Monday to announce this. I don’t know why. They were like, oh yeah, tomorrow, we’re putting out a special, Like dude, release these things, like the nice folks behind James Austin Johnson’s special. He’ll have one out August thirty.
First. It is called heal Yeah, not hell Yeah, heel Yeah, which is going to confuse everyone. It will debut on Gorilla Comedy Plus and then be on YouTube proper September twenty second at five pm Pacific, a very very specific time of release, September twenty second at five pm Pacific. In Heel Yeah, we see James Austin Johnson performing at a variety of venues, including The Den Theater in Chicago, Cobbs Comedy Club in San Francisco, Zenie’s, and Nashville. The trailer tells us James Austin Johnson is one year no wait one hour to change comedy forever, or he will be chemically castrated.
There is a trailer, and I got to tell you I hate this trailer. I think this trailer is awful. I think I can see by watching the trailer that’s a good special in here. But as trailers go, this is terrible. Let’s play a little of it.
I’ve clipped it down for pacing, but here’s some of it. You ever been playing a video game and your guy gets into some fire? Okay, so this is a video game guy burning alive. A pretty crazy show I got planned for you, guys. I’m going to talk about my life a little bit, some social commentary for a little bit.
All of this was pre written down to the blocking. Maybe the health is going down by two for some reason. When will you be in golf? Y’all? Ever think about if the president is going to start talking about you specifically, he’s he’s so you know, my stuff was always more roots kind of roots, Maraicana kind of root, more new grass than bluegrass, but definitely old time.
Definitely in that old time jam sort of feel. Oh brother, We’re Art Thou soundtrack kind of by way of Cold Mountain soundtrack. Heel yeah. On Gorilla Comedy Plus August thirty. First, I need to go walk my dog.
So that’s your comedy needs for today. I’ll be back with one of those afternoon episodes later today at a normal regular episode every morning. That’s kind of what I’m doing for now, doing the video thing. They’re like three minutes long to see what happens on YouTube. But I’m not going to stop doing this, just trying new be where the kids are.
The kids are on the YouTube, so that’s what that’s about. Hope you’re enjoying those, and if you hate them, if they’re clotting up the feed, let me know. I have no ego here. I’m just trying to figure this all out. Tell me on the side.
My email is in the show notes, or you can do it publicly in the Daily Common News Facebook group. And I’m not offended, just trying to get this right. See tomorrow
