Caloroga Shark Media. Hello, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Dave Chappelle has announced a new Netflix special New Year’s Eve, which is good for old folks like me that usually stay in that night and just watch TV. Perfect. Thank you Dave, who use The special is currently untitled.

It was announced via a short teaser. In the teaser, you see his C logo let up with neon lighting, and in the background you hear Chappelle thanking the crowd. The phrase Dave is back then appears, followed by the release date of December thirty. First. This is good news for me because right after a Christmas in New Year’s is usually a slow news week.

Dave often makes jokes that don’t go over well with everybody, and then everyone will debate it for two weeks. Perfect. Thank you Dave. Yesterday, when I was doing the Jason Cinnama New York Times story, in his article, he had mentioned that Gary Golman special would be out December twenty first. I wasn’t sure we had actually heard that before, and I thought maybe I just forgot, But now the official press release is out.

The Max Original comedy special Gary Goldman born on Third Base debuts December twenty first on Max. There’s a trailer and everything, and I really laughed out loud at this. Let’s listen. I grew up in an oft ignored sector of Jewish people called poor. A heart surgeon will open up your chest, replace a valve, save and extend your life.

Forty five dollars copeck a dentist, Phill’s miniature potholes, cash only today. We’ll work on a payment plan like any other strip mall retailer, but you gotta pay. I said to my dad, I really want to play hockey, said son go grab the Sports Almanac. There was zero Jewish players in the Hockey Hall of Fame. My dad said, just for a point of comparison, more Jews have been the Messiah.

Quality joke there, Gary Goleman the official description. Gary goh Ohlman offers up his hilarious insights on a range of topics, from growing up poor to pretentious suffixes, all with a generous helping of his inventive humor and absurdism. Looking forward to that one, Oh, back me up to Chappelle. That’s really going to screw up the end of the year list. I guess My end of the year list will be through Ricky Terve’s December twenty fifth release, and I don’t know if Chappelle makes it all revise it.

I guess maybe I can convince Netflix hook me up with a screener. That would be kind of cool. Here’s a terrible idea from Dan Ackroyd. He’s working on a possible Trading Places sequel. Dude, it’s been forty something years.

Don’t do this, Dan said. Last year, I generated a sequel for Eddie and I that I submitted to a paramount. It’s good, man, it’s good. No one’s asking for that. Dan.

Men’s Journal noticed that Bert Krascher looks like he’s lost some weight. Krascher posted a social media before and after picks of his forty five pound weight loss, captioned me at two seventy five versus me at two thirty. Men’s Journal says, beyond dropping the pounds, it’s clear from his defined abdominals, arms, and shoulders that Bert the Conqueror Store has also been hitting the gym. The Hollywood Reporter asked Wanda Sykes, how’s it different to shoot a special as opposed to doing a regular stand up show. Wanda Sykes said, when you’re filming it, you’re definitely in your head a little bit.

I shoot two shows, so the first one was like, Okay, let me get something in the can. Let me just make sure we got it structurally and technically. In the second show, I just let loose, have fun, actually improv some stuff sometimes and I stumble on stuff because I already have the safety of knowing I have one. We always end up using the second show wander how much thought did you put know what you wear? She said.

We were in Paris for Christmas. My wife is French and we were there for the holidays, and I knew we were going to shoot special in February, so I was like, man, I had to go figure out what I want to wear. And I knew I wanted something different. I didn’t want to go in a suit. I wanted to be a little bit more casual and have a bit more fun.

Because I’m rolling around on the ground. I’m much more physical in this one. And we’re shopping and I saw this jacket. It’s red, white and blue, it’s denim, and I was like, that’s it. This is what I’m going to do in Philadelphia.

The pitch KC caught up with Chris Tucker. He’s been doing stand up for thirty years, and the pitch said, what are the audiences like these days? Tucker said, oh, man, you know what, They’re hungry. You know, people are hungry they laugh. It’s one of the reasons I want to do this because people are saying they want to laugh, they want to get out and have some fun, and they’re just hungry.

Man. I love it. They’re more intelligent, they’re smarter these days because there’s so much entertainment out there and you got to come with your game, which I love. The energy’s great these days. He’s working clean ish and said it just made me better.

I’m just better, able to expand on things more. It’s just who I am. It may it’s definitely it may be still definitely edgy, but it’s just much better when I was younger, because when I was younger, all I had to talk about was when I was younger. But now I’ve had many different experiences, grown out of a man. Now, I’ve got so much to talk about, my point of view in the world.

People are really getting a lot when they come to my show. Vogue spoke with Matt Rife and they said, a lot of your audience goes wild, specifically for you. One woman proposition to you during your set. Does it ever make you uncomfortable? Matt Riife said, every single time, because like I just want to do jokes.

I just want to go on stage, tell jokes, maybe talk to a person or too, see if anything funny happens, and that’s it. It’s uncomfortable because there’s a lot of double standards, Like I’ve had my nipple bit at a meet and greet before. Can you imagine if a female comic was getting treated like this by guys it would never fly right. But of course there’s zero empathy or sympathy for guying because I’m not in physical danger. So it’s a bit strange.

Flattering that they care that much, but it’s a bit strange. How does he feel about being a heart throb? He says, it’s got pros and cons. I suppose the pros being you get such a massively passionate fan base, But the flip side is people take you less seriously as a comic, so it’s a weird thing. I have to personally choose how you want to balance that.

If people think I’m a heart throb cool. As long as you respect my comedy and like to laugh, you can think whatever you want about me. I don’t care, but I think it creates a lot more hate that it does positive effects. Besides getting my teeth done, I’ve never done anything to enhance my looks. That and going to the gym, which I do more for than just aesthetic reason.

So if anyone has a problem with that, that’s their problem. I’m like not doing anything. He laughs and says, I’m trying so hard to be as ugly as possible. I promise you. It’s one of those things.

Though at a certain point I’m gonna stop talking about it because I know I’m more than that. And the more people only look at me for like that one aspect of myself, the less they care about my comedy and my entertainment and things I want to create. So it’s like, yeah, can we reference these things now? But eventually I’m gonna be like, can we just focus on the work. I just bought a new phone during the break.

My wife would call me lately. Every time I go to use it, I push the button and it’s like, hang on, man, I Getsina sag. It’s not like I don’t use my phone. I am a professional podcaster and I need it. That’s what I did during the break.

What did you do? By the way, phones not cheap these days. I paid for it outright, and I got myself the newest, greatest phone in my family. As we went into the break, I had the oldest phone in the family. Now I have the best one.

On Wednesday, the broadcast networks will come together to honor Norman Lear. They’ll run a title card at eight pm Eastern on ABC, NBC, Fox, the CWNCBS Nice Job. On January first, Fox will celebrate Mash, the comedy of the Change Television, in a new two hour special That’s random, right, Like why Mash? I’d Mash one of my favorite things of all time, believe me? But why that now?

The special centers around previously on aired interviews with original cast members Alan Alda, Gary Bergoff, William Christopher, Jammie Farr, Mike Farrell, Wayne Rodgers, and Loretta Switt. Wayne Rodgers dead and I believe William Christopher is dead. Interesting, I guess these have been sitting around, Fox says in these intimate, highly personal remembrances, the creation and evolution of the show’s iconic characters are revealed, alongside rare and never before seen behind the scenes footage, photos and stories. Wayne Rodgers passed away in twenty seventeen. I didn’t make that up.

William Christopher passed away in twenty sixteen. I didn’t make that up either. Now what’s weird is the press release says series stars Larry Lynnville dead, Harry Morgan dead. They’re not saying dead, I’m saying dead. Mcclaan Stevenson dead and David Ogden Stiers, who’s also dead, are remembered through a collection of clips from the series as well.

So are they Why are they separate than Wayne Rodgers and William Christopher. This thing must have been sitting in the can for a few years and nobody checked the press release. Very very strange. I’m going to ask this question on the mash Reddit. Kelsey Grammer spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about new freezer.

Kelsey says, I believe we have a home at Paramount Plus for several years to come. If there’s a Paramount Plus, Kelsey and we certainly have several ideas for it, it’s just what’s flushing out. We’re not sure yet. Because the writers went on strike and the actor stayed on strike and everything just sort of stalled. At least we got the episodes in Under the Wire before we had a lockdown.

Where our future is. Of course, we’re going to explore the relationship between the father and the son, and that’s natural then involve the other characters as well. The first few episodes of any new TV show needs to be sort of dedicated to the idea of allowing the audience to fall in love with the new characters. I believe that’s finally started to take shape. Now we have the luxury of saying, well, let’s branch off into this area that area, go a little heavier on this storyline, focus a little bit more on this member of the cast.

The basis of the show is that father son relationship, but also Frazer’s new friendship. Fraser’s new life is third or fourth act. Arguably, that’s what we’re discovering. We’ve discovered that he’s probably a bit more mature, maybe still a little bit the same sort of nut, but he’s grown some. For him to have been static for us to have started right back in the same show from thirty years ago, to jump right back into the same story.

It would have been ridiculous for a man who spent thirty years of his life and not age would have been ridiculous and not grow wiser in any way. We thought it was important to give him some sort of new clothes. They asked him how he feels about the term reboot. Kelsey said, we really think of it as new Freezer. We don’t really think of it as a reboot because we haven’t rebooted anything.

It’s just a character that has not fallen from Grease. He’s still loved and beloved character and one we really love playing. I wasn’t nervous about it necessarily, just that in a new world we have a new set of viewing habits. I figured we’d promoted it pretty well. I thought there were some loyal audience members around who were really kind of hungry for revisiting the character, because we really haven’t done comedy like that in quite some time, and I think there’s a hunger for it.

Was he upset that a lot of the original cast didn’t want to return, Kelsey said, I wasn’t upset. I had tried to get everybody back because that’s what I thought was the right and faithful thing to do. I wanted to remain faithful to them, but them not wanted to do it was fine, certainly their choice. Actually it led us to some choices that we wouldn’t have done probably, and I was very happy we did them. I’m happy we ended up back in Boston.

That never would have happened had the rest of the cast comeback. BBC Radio four has launched a podcast, Jokes. Jokes will combine brand new series with highlights from the archive quote, providing comedy fans with an easy way to find the latest content from their favorite comedians. To start the feed off the full series of Nora Meadows Week of Wellness. Uh what caught my eye, They’ve uploaded the twenty nineteen comedy special Phil Wang Wang’s Plaining.

I Like Phil. A lot new album out today from Andy Awantsio. It is called Better Living Through Femistry. Andy is a transgal comedian from Seattle by way of Baltimore. With her ten years of comedy, she brings a witty, sardonic, and slightly profane style to her jokes that navigate living with disability and a marriage founded, fueled and fortified by mad lib vows.

Andy’s open for some Pretty Good People Kyle Kinade, James Adomian, Cameron Esposito. Better Living through Femistry out today on Kill rock Stars Records. Hulu has shared a trailer for Self Romance, which features mac packer Andy Samberg. The plot line when a middle aged man Jake Johnson is invited into a limo by famous actor Andy Samberg, his adult life takes a thrilling turn. Wait, so is Andy playing himself?

Interesting? Johnson has offered a chance to win a million dollars in a dark web reality TV show where assassins from all over the world attempts to kill him for thirty days. The catch he can’t be killed if he’s not entirely alone, leading him to recruit an unlikely team to help him survive. His only problem, none of his friends or family believe the game is real. Andy Samberg’s in this, so is Wayne Brady excited?

It’ll be out on January twelfth, And that’s your comedy news for today. If you like the show, tell a friend about it they might like it too. And if you’d like to support the show, one way to do that is go to buy me a coffee. Dot com slash Daily Comedynews, Buy me a coffee dot Com Slash Daily Comedy News. There are some bucks on the tip chair, and I’ll get nice coffee.

See tomorrow.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hello, I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Did you watch the debate last night? It aired on News Nation Rumble in the CW seth Meyers joke. So, in other words, look for it wherever you get your computer viruses.

Switching topics, Brenda Lee has her first number one hit for Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, recorded in nineteen fifty eight. I think Jimmy Fallon said, yeah, Brenda is having a moment. Not only does she have the number one song, today she was seen holding hands with Travis Kelsey. By the way, Taylor Swift named Times Person of the Year. You can follow all the Taylor Swift news on her sister podcast, Taylor Swift Today.

Spotify put out there Spotify wrapped lists, and weird Al had some commentary on their royalty system. Here’s a statement from weird Al. Hey, how you doing hell here? Look, I’ll make this really quick. I just want to thank you all for your amazing support.

It’s my understanding that I had over eighty miss billion streams on Spotify this here, So if I’m doing the math right, that means I earned twelve dollars. So you know, I’ll not have to give myself a nice sandwich at a restaurant. So from the bottom of my heart, thanks for your support and thanks for the sandwich.

Meanwhile, another statement, Ricky Gervas tweeted what he called an urgent a…

Hello Ricky Gervas here, this is a quick message to all supermarkets, off licenses, coller shops to say please stock Dutch Bom vodka. I’m the co owner of the company, so this could make me a lot of money and it’s It’s a premium quality vodka made from British apples. We’re committed to sustainability and the protection of the ecosystem. It’s one hundred percent recyclable the bottle, that’s why it’s brown. Only one like it as well, so it’s standout on the shelves.

It’s how people will remember it. I think it’ll be like if you go in out, granddad, can you get me some vodka? What’s all the posh one in the brown bottle? Dutch faarn I can’t afford that. We should have worked harder then, so Dutch farn I like what Ricky’s doing there.

He’s running right at it, not even pretending the folks at All Dogs Matter tweeted, we wanted to say a huge thank you to our patron, the one and only Ricky Gervas, who has made an incredibly generous donation to go towards the care of our dogs. We cannot be more grateful. Heart’s emoji. Your donation will keep dogs like Colin happy, healthy and warm this winter. There’s a picture of Colin.

You can find out about Ricky Gervay’s donations by listening to yesterday’s podcast Happy Honikah. Adam Sandler recounts how he wrote the Honkah song. This from the Jewish Chronicle, home for Comedy News. Sandler recently spoke to the crowd at the ninety second Street Why in New York City and said, I am so proud of that song. I love it.

He wrote the song at the NBC studios of SNL. There was no Google in nineteen ninety four, so he went by what he thought was correct. The lyrics include Harrison Ford’s a quarter Jewish. Sandlor later found out he was off by twenty five percentage points. I remember when I met Harrison Ford, he goes half.

Sandler said, all my family’s Jewish. Everybody has a kind of funny way about them. I definitely after every family get together, couldn’t believe what I saw sometimes. Sandler first got into the stand up comedy at age seventeen and said I would bomb every night. Well, good thing that’s changed.

His stand up is hilarious these days now. If you’re wondering about the other people mentioned in the song, USA Today under the headline Adam Sandler’s Honaka Song, are all those celebs in the song actually Jewish? Let’s take a look. David Lee Roth, James Kahn, Kirk Douglas Dinah Shure Yes, yes, yes Yes, Bowser from Shannanhah and Arthur Fonzarelli. John Beauman is Jewish.

Henry Winkler is Jewish, Goldie Hawn, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, as the song points out, O J. Simpson not a jew but Rod Carew Yes, Rod cru converted. If you’re in the mood to hear the Hanukkah song. When we’re done here, go to the Live One app and play the weekly comedy thing that’s the show I host. I played the Hanukkah song this week for this very reason.

Sandler recently told Variety that Roseanne Barr almost performed the song on SNL in ninety four. Sandler said they were talking about Roseanne singing it and she was nice enough to say, no, let Adam do that. That’s his He wrote it, That’s his song. During Weekend Update, Sandler explained that he wrote the song after noticing the lack of music about Hanukkah. Does Sandler still sing the Hanka song?

He says, I sing it alone. I sing it without the kids. I go on a basement, I rip it out. I do the soft shoot to it. If it comes on the radio and I hear it, I get excited.

It’s still awesome. The Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame has announced the newest round of inductees. They include Jim Carrey, Eugene Levy, Martin Short and the cast of SCTV. So are Eugene and Martin in there twice or how does that work? I don’t know.

It will be a four day festival in February to mark the beginning of a three year collaboration with Tourism Hamilton. Jerry Seinfeld is playing Singapore. Jerry gave some quotage which was I saw recently that Singapore has some of the happiest people on Earth by scientific study. So I don’t imagine my comedy will be able to improve that by too much, but I’m really going to try. So excited for my first visit, I was curious how much tickets cost, and I went to the website that was linked in the article, and you have to register for a pre sale, and I’m like, I don’t know, I’ll just look it up next week.

All right, after three days, there’s finally press about Stavros Halkias. Remember his Netflix special came out on Tuesday and there were no articles about it. Well, Deadline got around to it Dell’s Deadline. He’s noticing a difference in those attending his shows. Instead of Internet freaks alone, he says he now sees nice older couples in the crowd.

In Fat Rascal on Netflix, Stavros talks about everything from nightmare travel days to experiences at the Big and Tall Store. He talked about having a hard time breaking in. He said, I had agents and managers, but you know how it is, nobody gets an f about you when you’re not making them any money. Nobody wanted to buy a special for me. In twenty twenty two, He’s self released a self financed special on YouTube Live at the Lodge Room that’s gotten over six million views.

He invested forty thousand dollars of his own money to get word out about the special. Halkias began disseminating online clips of material didn’t make the cut. Additionally, he embraced crowd work clips. For years, had been taping every set he did, whether it was at a comedy club, a brewery, or some kind of other lower end venue. He hired a friend with quote no editing experience away from his low paying media job, and they started mining old sets for clips to post online.

Those clips took his YouTube. I don’t want to use the word special if it’s self released an hour, half hour and how long it was from twenty thousand into the hundreds of thousands, which in turn resulted in him moving tickets. Quote like never before, every single clip was going viral was insane. I was like, what the F We’re growing at such an insane rate. I felt like I just found an audience that I had no idea existed, and I was confused more than anything.

He attributes his success online a good timing, saying met in Google saw the TikTok was eating their lunch and they were like, well, anybody that does short form video contact, we’re boosting the f out of their algorithm. It just so happened that while that was happening and YouTube shorts was getting boosted and Instagram was getting booted, and TikTok was trying to boost people’ stuff, some more people would do it. I had like two to three years of the best crowd work interactions, and I think I just got really lucky. It just worked in a way I could not believe, he says, I don’t mean to get corny or anything, but achieved my bleeping goals. I have friends who are famous.

I don’t want their lives. I don’t need to be more famous than this. In fact, I don’t want to be. The virtual reality stand up series Surrounded will return for a second season December twenty ninth. The six sports series will debut via the Meta Horizon World’s VR online video game platform.

Episode start on the twenty ninth, including a holiday festival special that drops at ten am Pacific on that day. These sets were filmed at the twenty twenty three Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, hosted by Lilrel Howery the episode’s feature Jack Whitehall, Marlon Wayans, May Martin, Fortune, Fimster, Mark Norman, Chris Read, Dan Soder, Jay Farrow, Meg Statler, Felipia Sparza, Rosebud Baker, Samuel Joe, Kim Booster, Hannah Burner, Nate Jackson, Brad Williams, Preacher Lawson, Seher Zamada, Brian Simpson, Steph tolev Annie Liederman, and Shay Durina. That is no joke that list. Lourel Howary called the show crowd work and freestyling at its best. So this morning at the National Donuts Chain, Evil Bill Angvall was back, but the Donuts Chain people just did not have my order together.

I mean I had ordered online. Took twelve minutes for somebody to make a nice coffee come on Donuts Chain. But it was good to see Evil Bill back in the house. Last week Tonight with John Oliver has been renewed for three more seasons. Yep.

But it’ll still be on HBO or Max or HBO Max or whatever it is these days. John Oliver said, We’re very happy to get to keep making the show without our fantastic staff. Will continue trying to stretch the term entertainment to the breaking point, a Suit said, over the past decade, John and his exceptional team have combined deep research and intelligence with cutting humor to tackle a broad range of subjects, both widely discussed and unconventional. With an important election here on the horizon, we look forward to seeing what John has in store for audiences over the next three years, Thanks Suit. Bowsome Usef recently made some news having a little back and forth with Piers Morgan.

Yousef showed up at COP twenty eight. That’s the big environmental summit. He said to the audience, Let’s be honest. The only reason I’m here is because I’m trending, but also because I’ve been an advocate of plant based diets. Someone asked why stand up comedy and how do you find humor during these dark times?

Yusef said, simple, because the fact that we still have to meet every year to decide not to hurt our planet is a joke itself. Paste magazine spoke to ZANEB. Johnson about her special His Jobs Off, released on Amazon back in October. This one recorded in the round one cameraman holding a steady cam for the specials duration Johnson said, I think there’s something really intimate about recording in the round. I always say my stand up should feel like I’ve invited you into my living room.

You get to hang out with me for a little while, and hopefully by the end of it you leave feeling fulfilled and good. You want to come back. Much like Jim Gaffigan, She’s not considered the jokester in her family. Johnson says, they love me, but they think I’m the most serious person. I tried to plan vacations with my mom.

She’s like, you know, you’re no fun. I’m always to the person trying to keep the family business in order. I’m like, what are the troubles, Let’s look for the solutions. What are the bills, what are the things we need to improve? And everybody’s like, we’re trying to have fun.

Celebrate Norman Lear, the renowned American television writer, film producer, and activist, passed away Tuesday at age one hundred and one worn in New Haven, Connecticut. Lear celebrated for creating All in the Family, Mary hart and Mary Hartman, The Jefferson’s Maud, Good Times, Sandford and Son Fernwood, Tonight, John Stewart tweeted, good night, Norman, love you, thanks for raising me. Jimmy Kimmel gave Variety a statement which was it is obviously silly to want more time with a person who outlived a whole century, but losing Norman Leear, even at one hundred and one years old, feels unfair. His bravery, integrity, and unmatched moral compass were equaled by his kindness, empathy and wit. Even at one hundred and one, Norman cared as much about the future, our children and planet as much as anyone have ever known.

He was a great American, a hero in every way, and so funny, smart and a lovely man you almost couldn’t believe it. Privilege of working alongside Norman, and the opportunity he gave me and my wife to get to know him and his beautiful family has been among the great honors and pleasures of my life. We’re all very lucky to have him. George Clooney, in a statement, said, it’s hard to reconcile that one hundred and one years old Norman Lear has gone too soon. The entire world of reason just lost its greatest advocate, and our family lost a dear friend, a giant walked in his shoes.

Tyler Perry reflected on his experience of meeting Norman Lear and said, just before I left, I asked, at a hundred years old, are you looking forward to without any hesitant? He said tomorrow with such a simple but powerful lesson to live your life fully one day at a time. Tyler said, it that up nice there, because one of the shows Norman Lear developed was One Day at a Time. Norman Lear, one hundred and one years old. That’s your comedy news for today.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hey, I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Couple quick jokes from Late Night Jimmy Fallons said, George Santos expelled from the house, and I for one feel better than Congress is now only filled with completely honest people. Finally, Charleamine, the God hosting the Daily show this week, said Santos put on his coat before the vote was even over. Let me correct myself.

He put on a coat for all we know there’s another congressman like somebody stole my coat. Pretty good, Fellon. Santos has already joined Cameo and is charging two hundred dollars a video, because that’s what you want to do. Give your credit card information to George Santos. Ricky Gervais stepping up love this.

Ricky Gervais is donating one point nine hundred and ten one thousand pounds to worldwide animal charities. He has split the cash evenly, says Toortal across donations to eleven worldwide animal charities, including All Dogs Matter, Animal Sos, Sri Lanka, Catastrophes, Cat Rescue, Sheldon Animals, Sanctuary, Dogs on the Streets Helping Rhinos. I actually donate to helping rhinos, millions of friends, mirror dogs, Pause to rescue PDSA and wild futures. Travai says, I hope the dogs, cats, rhinos, and monkeys invest this money wisely, because when my career goes up, I’ll lead it back. Jason Zinneman writes for The New York Times he does a great job covering comedy.

He’s definitely a must follow. I saw this morning he wrote best Comedies of twenty twenty three, and I was like, I’ll mention this on the podcast. I have not looked at this at all because I like to react in the moment. Jason writes, it’s time to stop taking Jim Graffigan for granted and more surprising takeaways from special stand up sets and other funny moments This year best special. According to Jason Zinnemann, while he’s not flashy, each year, he gets a little better figuring out new challenges that fit is every man aesthetic.

With his ten special Dark Pale in Prime Video, his comedy has become so skillful, varied, and pleasingly prickly that it demands closer attention. Now I don’t have that on my list. I have it in the not on the list category. I won’t bog it down with my list today, but I have twenty things in my best of twenty twenty three and don’t have Gaffikin on there. So it’s interesting that Jason and I don’t agree on that one.

All this is subjective anyway. Best Breakthrough writes Jason, best stilling for if you didn’t want me then, also not on my top twenty list. I even have a note hear to myself that I thought the crowd sounded sweetened, meaning they added some laughter into it. Best story Teller went to The Domino Effect Part two Loss, which is Ali Sadiq’s special on YouTube. He’s telling high stakes, dramatic tales of heartbreak and run ins with the police, but with the lightness and ease of someone just filling you in about their day.

Also not on my list. Fascinating here. Best bit went to John Early for Now More Than Ever, a mix of stylish satsire, soulful cover songs, and occasional observational humor. That one I do have on my list at number nineteen because it was quite different. Best New Double Act writes Jason’s in Him into the New York times like many funny duos April Clark and Grace Freud of Girl God look and Sound nothing alike.

Want to like Key Slacker the other more fiery baritone, but they riffed so effortlessly that they seem to merge. I am unfamiliar with them. Best closer went to Mark Marin for From Bleak to Dark. I also don’t have Maren on my list, and I’ve been on a major Mark Maren kick lately like Big Time, and that last special didn’t grab me at all. Jason writes, what would suicide by bat look like?

Only a comedian would think of that? Long and hard on the subject. Best online roaster, Jason writes the arch eladist Dan Rosen has created his own critical beat on Instagram, doing stylish and ruthless insult comedy on tasteless interior design hacked to Core in shallow architecture and not familiar with Dan. Best Canadian newcomer went to Sophie Buttle, She’s solid. Best take on crowd work went to Dion Cole in a Netflix set.

A best response to a peeping cell phone went to Joe Parra, who responded, in a deadpan you just ruined my life and then kept moving. Best Impression went to John Mulaney for doing a traditional al Pacino. Best buffoon Diane Morgan’s long running character Philamina, Kunk four Kunk on Earth, which is I think still my favorite thing of the year. Kunk on Earth is wonderful if you should watch it. Best YouTube Special, Jason writes a highly competitive category.

Never have been more funny people putting out specials. Django Gold’s folksy screwball jokes not familiar, Chase O’Donnell’s deliriously ditzy act, Seaton Smith’s Madison Square Garden Show, and Joe Lists, but Nathan Mackintosh’s Money Never Wakes stands out for its exasperated comic elements about the cocoon lives of the one percent. I think out of all of those, I’ve only seen Joe List again. There’s just so much out there. Best comic On comic comedy, Gary Golmans Born on Third Base, which will be out December twenty First, all right, we can look forward to that, Jason says.

It’s filled with intricate language, drunk jokes that have built Gary into a critical darling. This is his most political and pointed work focusing on the inequities of class. Best gen Z Surrealist, a cheerful, young Arizona absurdist who’s just getting started. She produces edits and stars and cartoonishly bizarre videos featuring milk spelling from the sky, goofy puns, jump scares, and I’ll throw this in the Facebook group. The Facebook group is Daily Comedy News podcast group bj Novak.

You know him as Ryan from the Office. The Hollo Reporter covered Bjay’s Chain Fest twenty twenty three, attending Mindy Kling, John Legend, Chrissy Teagan, John Mayer, Andy Cohen, Chris Pratt and others. Wow, the Hollowed Reporter tells us the red Robin Berger was Mealy. The pizza hut Crust didn’t achieve their Greasy Lacy trademark. Only Duncan was able to retain its sense soorial qualities on site for this influencer crowd, and only Jack in the Box managed to truly complete the assignment.

It upped its game with slow braised beef tacos and Chain’s original Taco Perfecto sauce, which took a menu cornerstone to a striking new place. Back in twenty eighteen, Bja floated the idea for a single brick and mortar location called Chain that would aside from the name Chain being a joke itself, he said, the cool thing about only having one means zoning wise, you can put it in one of these chic neighborhoods that are all over LA or New York that won’t allow a Chili’s or Fridays and will only allow one of a kind restaurants. You put Chaine there, then everybody he really just wants to go. The concept’s next iteration was to sit down restaurant in a rented home in LA and seated about fifty people with sixty five dollars a ticket. At one point had a waiting list reportedly fifteen thousand names long.

The restaurant offered no menu and no modifications.

Meanwhile, at Chainfest twenty twenty three, the VIP room was called the Post…

Patton explained that he got the key to the city of Athens, Georgia. They gave me the key to Athens my first comedy album. I recorded it at the forty watt and Athens in two thousand and three, So this year was the twentieth anniversary. And the mayor, who’s a really interesting guy and exactly what you think would be the mayor of Pathens, Georgia. You know, he looks like an early eighties indies store record clerk, That’s what he looks like.

And he’s so chilling, funny, and he gave me that I should have brought it. I have a physical key to the city. Flat Hat News asked, what is the key to Williamsburg coming? Patton said, you tell me Williamsburg. When do I get my key?

Oh my god? What if I get obsessed and start collecting keys to city and becomes my thing? Hey, you just got an offer. Do the rhyme in and now is there a key to the city involved with it? Because I’ll do it if they give me a key.

That would be insane. I just want to collect keys. Flat Hat said, we’ll send an email to Mayor Doug Ponds on your behalf. Oswalt said, I will happily come back if there’s a key to the city. You’re kidding.

Flat Hat reached out to the mayor. The mayor responded, while mister Oswalt may be deserved of such a recognition, the city has no such designation. From Gossip Corner, Adam Sandler was hanging out playing basketball with Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith and his family during Adam’s recent visit to Salt Lake City. Adam played the Delta Center on Sunday night. Smith shared a video of his son’s playing basketball at Sandler.

Sailor can be heard saying the video, boys, I can’t believe we started this friendship. This is forever. LA Magazine talked to Mark Maron about what he’s been eating. Mark is now a vegan, and LA mag was curious as to his reasoning, and Mark said, well, you know, I’ve gone through a lot of different faces for a while there. I had a smoker, and I smoked brisket, ribbi and chicken.

I got pretty good, but I was kind of starting to hit a wall, and I was eating a lot of fish too. It all started to turn me off. But it really started as an experiment to see how much my cholesterol numbers were based on genetics, orde and it definitely went down after I wasn’t missing meat. I was always sensitive to the plight of animals, but it came more so after I went vegan. I just stuck with it.

My cholesterol is okay now, but my sugar went down. I feel overall better, but not that different other than I feel a little lighter and a little less crappy waking up. Did you lose weight, Mark Mirron? I did for a while, kind of leveled off. Some people gain weight.

You have to be careful. You can’t base your vegan diet on nut butters and pasta and bread. You have to balance it. When I cook it home, I generally tried to make some kind of vegetable and a dinner of some sort of green, some sort of beans, some sort of green like keene while or brown rice, and there’s also protein. Air fryers are very useful when you’re dealing with tofu.

If you want to get that crisp bite without frying and oil, the use the air fryer a lot.

Also, there should be something pickled on the plate, some sort of sea vegeta…

I tried to do some Indian cooking too. I got a really good recipe for chana masala that I make at home. I started making this pasta with white beans and tomatoes. Is pretty awesome. I like to cook and it’s always exciting to find new vegan stuff.

Great question here. You travel a lot for comedy do you look for vegan spots? Has that been hard? Marin? You can find one good vegan place in any city, and if you’re there for a couple of days, you can just eat there three or four times.

It’s usually what I hope to do in a place that has what I’m used to or different variations of it, or a lot of things on the menu. New topic, Mark, what’s your favorite LA thing or place to go? What’s your LA spot? Mark said, this place is more Glendale, but I hike up the mountain behind the Brand Library in Glendale like three times a week. I’ve become pretty attached to it.

And I think my favorite LA thing in general is just performing at the Comedy Store, so a one of a kind place. Mark says he does workouts there once a week and from the Star Observer. Mattel Lane gave a social media tour of his hometown of North Halstead aka Boystown, a gighborhood in Chicago. Lane was standing in front of a place called Roscoe’s Tavern and said, this is Roscoe’s. The floor is probably still sticky.

Somebody must have spilled some beer. Looking back in his times hanging out Roscoe, he said, I’m so ignorant, Like I guess everybody was doing drugs. I didn’t know I was drinking a vaka soda, Like, who am I gonna make out tonight? Everybody was just rolling. It just never understood, like how are they having so much fun?

That He went by a seven to eleven and said this seven one to eleven would make state filled prison blush. The amount of stuff that went down drug sex, party, complete and utter chaos. He talked about the first gay club you ever went to called Hydrate and explained, when you go to a gay club the first time and you’re not exposed to anything gay, you walk in and you’re innundated with everything. I remember the sign above the urinal said no meth. And that is your comedy news for today.

If you like the show, tell a friend about it they might like it too. And if you’d like to support the show, an easy way to do that is go to buy me acoffee dot com slash Daily Comedynews, Buy me a coffee dot com slash Daily Comedy News, Throw a couple bucks in the tip. Choar Today’s Wednesday. I’ll take your money and I’ll go to Trivia Night and I’ll buy a beverage with it while answering some questions incorrectly. See you tomorrow

Caloroga Shark Media idly. Oh, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Dave Chappelle was out and about in the DC area. Told you a little bit about this yesterday. He apparently didn’t enjoy the correspondent from Straight Arrow News, who asked, Dave, what is the punchline on the joke for George Santos.

Chappelle responded, oh, man, don’t get me started on that stuff. About his appearance on Capitol Hill, Straight Arrow News asked, Dave, do you support anybody in particular or did you come here for a particular cause. Chappelle leaned into the microphone and smiled, well, I’ll tell you what I didn’t come to do be on television, Just kidding. Dave was also seen over the weekend driving past a peace protest. I think he just happened to drive by it.

You see a video of a car driving by, like an SUV type thing. Dave’s in the shotgun seat and the windows down, and Dave just waves and that’s it. I don’t think he took part in the protest. Despite some headlines I saw, Dave also visited Duke Ellington High School. Aw some news coverature that, but nothing controversial out of Dave Chappelle from TMZ.

THEO von baffles ESPN’s College Game Day with his football picks. THEO was on College Game Day on Saturday, where he joined Pat McAfee and the rest of the gangs making some picks TMZ wrights. Apparently THEO thought it was twenty thirteen again because he invoked Jamis Winston’s name to talk about the seminals chance. His only problem Winston has long left the university, something Pat reminded THEO of forcing him to pivot and come up with a new rationale. Let’s listen.

I’m a you know, I think Jameis Winston they’re gonna pull off that. Uh he was yeah, I understand, yeah, but I think he could still play if he wanted to. Down the months of eligibility and the Saints aren’t using him appropriately. We all know that. So I’ll say this, man, I think they’re gonna pull off that.

Uh, They’re gonna pull off that crustation w down there, that crowd dub believe me. Maybe I’m that trustation trust in me. I got this coach. Your thoughts? What did you say?

Fun clip theovonn Whitehot right now, is podcast really climbing the charts?

Speaking of podcasts, Matt Rife, Johnny Mac, you never mentioned him.

He was on the Jordan Peterson podcast. It had the clever episode title Rife for Cancelation, but Geeba took a listen to it. I downloaded it. They haven’t listened to it yet. Rife brags during the podcast he has gained more followers because of the domestic violence joke than he’s lost, but he also insists that he’s finished with the crowd work that made him so popular with women.

He later adds that women used to make up ninety percent of his audience, but that has massively changed in the last five or six months. Pajeeba writes, I wonder why it’s an interesting podcast episode if you can stomach it, if only because it pairs two people who have little knowledge of each other and even less in common besides an interest in exploiting each other’s audience. Both conceide not so many words that they didn’t know much about each other before last week, but they quickly find common ground, for instance, in the belief that men who support women are quote boy, I didn’t read the sensitive vance. Let me back up. I’m not going to make it edit because you’re not going to believe what’s coming.

All right, ready, let me back it up. Both can see in not so many words that they didn’t know much about each other before the last week. Okay, fine, but they quickly find common ground, for instance, the belief that men who support women are sneaky rapists. What Rife believes that the only men who thought his joke about domestic violence was offensive were men trying to get some ldroom action. The article quotes Riife here and says, I saw one TikTok video response from a guy who said I have a wife, and I find this severely disrespectful.

Rife says, okay, you cuck whatever, what do you want to get more? Cleaning it up here? Loving outside of your wife? You’re already married, surely respects you. What more do you want?

Boy? I met Riife, You’re just what are you doing? Dude? Two weeks ago this guy was on the top. Oh man, what are you doing?

Peterson says. According to this article, there’s nothing worse than a man who tries to worm his way in with a group of women by pretending to be on their side when their actual motivation is to be a sneaky effort. That’s actually a phrase from evolutionary biology. I’m gonna have to listen to this one. Rife tells Peterson he will never apologize for his joke, and the two discuss at length why apologizing is bad.

Raife repeatedly defends the joke on Peterson’s podcast, not only in its merits, but by saying, no one is making you watch. Raife says he put the joke at the beginning of the special so that viewers would know what to expect. If they didn’t find the domestic violence joke funny, they could turn it off comedies Like a restaurant, if you don’t like the food, you don’t have to eat there. He doesn’t mind that he’s offended people either, because if twelve thousand people were offended, one hundred thousand people loved it, and they’ve been through domestic violent situations and they found the joke very funny. Riife believes he’s a positive force for women who have gone through domestic violence.

If I can help in any way, even if it’s on accidents, Come on, younger generation, learn now English works. If I can open anyway, even if it’s on accident. Thanks Bornie. I feel good about that. So, like I’ve mentioned, I watched the special, I just didn’t find it funny when that joke went by.

I don’t even know if it registered in my brain. I wasn’t outraged at the moment. I’m more fascinated by this Matt Riife meltdown. We’ll see what happens, John McLay he told Variety stand up comedy has just become enormous and continues to grow and be so strong. I think the respective esteem comes from all the people that come out to see it.

Netflix has elevated it too. People check out tons of specials now. Oh I saw Beth Stelling, I saw on Aprighatzy, I saw the new Alley Wong. Tonight. If you’re in Chicago, it’s the Letters to Santa Gala, which includes John Mulaney and others six pm at the Willis Tower.

Letters to Santa the Holiday galas a new event aiming to raise one hundred and fifty thousand dollars to help fifteen families in need across the Greater Chicago area. These families will have their letters to Santa answered on Christmas Day, receiving gifts from a wish list of clothes, furniture, living necessities, and an unconditional cash grant of ten thousand dollars for an ongoing expenses. This corn to the press release six pm at the Willis Tower if you’re in the area. Patton Oswall class of ninety one, recently returned to the College of William and Mary. He did two stand up shows and the newly inaugurated Glenn Close Theater.

Patton told Flat Hat News, I also made a mix of all the music. This is so cheesy. I made a mix a lot of the music I was listening to back then. So there’s been a lot of rim in my year, a lot of rock music, a lot of that stuff. Patten says.

I lived in a basement apartment and there’s now a law student living there who has where my bed used to be, a floor cave full of guinea pigs. He keeps guinea pigs in his apartment had kind of a horror feel to it, but the house itself was really charming and sweet, and I was like, oh wow, I used to really live here. This is where I got up and ate my rama noodles, and you know that was where. I mean, I’m not one for living in dwelling in nostalgia, but checking in on the places you were coming up it was always kind of fascinating. Some things for you to check out.

Dan Booblitz Junior on the Facebook group which is Daily Coming to News podcast group encouraged us to listen to Mark Maren’s interview with Jesse David Fox on Mark Maren’s WTF podcast Absolutely good discussion of comedy. Enjoyed that a lot. I listened to most Maren’s, but I was slow on that one, so Dan, thanks for doing that. I’d listened to that on the way to the airport last night. I had to do one of those pesky airport pickups that I wound up doing like once a month.

No, I’m not an uber driver and my kids like to travel. During that interview, Jesse David Fox and Mark Maron started talking about the two greatest comedians of all time. They have at number one, Richard Pryor okay, fine, and at number two, who do they have? Wrong? Why don’t you guess, for like three hours, just name every comedian you can possibly think of.

Who do they have at number two? Wrong? Nope? Wrong, nope, wrong, wrong, still wrong, You’re still wrong. At number two they had Maria Bamford.

What Maria Bamford second best stand up comedian of all time? I get that they respect the work, but number two out of everyone, you just thought of Maria Bamford, number two. Tap the brakes there. So the other night I watched Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer is fantastic.

Loved it in the theaters. I bought the Blu ray. You know you worry about these streaming services. Now things are starting to disappear. I’m back to physical media.

I like to know stuff’s in the closet and I can watch what I want. Oppenheimer is fantastic, and I hadn’t realized when I saw in the theater the third act there a lot of homages to the film Judgment at Nuremberg, a lot of visual cues that reminds me of that movie, which is a fantastic movie which features a very young, handsome William Shanner. If you’ve never seen Judgment to Nuremberg not streaming right now, I looked because I wanted to watch it after I watched Oppenheimer. Watch Oppenheimer, which is not at all a comedy. My point of bringing that up is after I watch Oppenheimer, I’m like, I need something ridiculous, So I put on Bookie, Sebastian Maniscalco’s new show on Max.

I really liked it. Here’s what I like about it. It knows what it is. It’s Sebastian Maniscalco plays a bookie. That’s it.

He’s driving around, gets in some high jinks. The jokes are eye level, it’s sitcom level, but it knows what it is. It’s not trying too hard. It goes turn your brain off and enjoy this. And I like things that know what they are.

This is not claiming to be high art. This is just it’s Sebastian Maniscalko as a bookie. I loved it. Watched both episodes that released. Can’t wait for War so high recommendation for me on Bookie again.

Is it the greatest thing I’ve ever seen? No, but it’s pretty solid. Then I watched Obliterated, which Netflix put in front of me. I had no idea what it was, and I’m like, all right, what is this? I was trying to describe it to people.

The best I can come up with is picture Mission Impossible, dipped in cheese whiz. It’s like a super cheesy action It’s not a film. It’s one hour episodes set in Las Vegas, so there’s a lot of drinking and booze and nudity and this too. It knows what it is. It knows it’s kind of ridiculous, but it’s just fun.

So that’s obliterated. Check that out. Bill Burr’s on Jimmy Kimel Tonight out on Netflix today. Stavros Halkias is special, Fat Rascal is out. I’m not sure how excited Netflix is about it, because I tried to put a story here.

This is normally where I’d talk about Stavros, and there’s nothing. So there’s no press lead up here like you usually see what these specials. We’ll see if maybe there’s something tomorrow. But that makes me go, hmm, that’s odd. Collider actually has an interesting article I’ll get to it on the weekend about maybe Netflix has too many specials now and if there are too many specials, then nothing is special.

I agree wholeheartedly on that. Again, I’m not saying Stavros is special, is good, no bad. I haven’t seen it, but yeah, there’s kind of like too many quote unquote specials now, and I think we need to stop using the word special and go back to calling them hours. Bill Engvall has one of those tonight. I guess we’ll call it his a special because it’s the final thing he’s releasing from his career.

Bill says, I feel honestly that my show’s probably one of the cleaner shows out there. I mean there’s no swearing, there’s no dropping F bombs and all that. It’s something I’ve really felt strong about. I didn’t feel that any of the material on there was offensive. It’s what I’ve done my whole career.

You’re gonna have to hunt a little bit for this one and buy it or rent it on Amazon Prime or Apple or YouTube. Hopefully Bill put that up on YouTube plus commercials in a bit. HBO released a trailer for Leo Reichs literally who Cares? This will be out December sixteenth, and I was like, who’s Leo? Like?

Who is that? I do this every day? Who is this? Well, let’s listen to the trailer. I am happy.

I know myself. I am not personally rec foncible for anything. I just polishize about what I look like. I didn’t have any time to change or ash like run the hair straight from My Dad’s Worst Night Back Show, It’s still gonna be filled with twenty first century cynicism, the self objectification encouraged by social media, the late capitalist co option of the queer esthetic. I’m kidding, can you imagine?

Literally? Who cares? Starts comedian writer Leo Reich in his HBO comedy special debut. In his first HBO comedy special, this self diagnosed important young mind faces the swirling uncertainty of our collective future, asking the big questions such as is this helping? Am I hot?

And no offense guys, but literally, what’s going on? Reich’s show was nominated for Best Newcomer at the twenty twenty two d of Comedy Awards and Most Outstanding Show at the twenty twenty three Melbourne International Comedy Festival. His credits include Friday Night Live, Late Night Mash and Jonathan Ross Comedy Club. Nikki Glaser will team up with actor, comedian and writer Jamie Lee. They’re going to store in and executive produce Unsettling.

In unsett we find a heartwarming and refreshingly on a show about two childless best friends. Lee and Glazer In the thirties who decide to go in on a baby together and navigate their lives as brand new platonic co parents. This is in development with Prime Video Bill Lawrence, who’s got some pretty great credits attached to him. He’s part of this, so don’t blow this one off. Chad Daniels and Kelsey Cook have a new podcast called Pretend to Problems.

They are dating and in their new show they open up about arguments they’ve overcome, communication strategies that they love and hate, blended family dynamics, navigating being a part on tour, and more, and the teaser for the show, Cook explains to Daniel’s her rule of three, which is if I see you do something that rops me the wrong way, she makes a note of it and won’t talk about it until it happens three times. Caloroga Shark Media. Hey, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. If you skip the weekends for some reason, go back and listen to Sunday. There’s a whole thing with Mark Maren and Matt Rife. It’s just wonderful.

And the moon Tower Comedy Festival has a lot of news there, okay. In today’s news, Dave Chappelle has posed for a selfie with Representatives Lauren Bobert and and a Luna. This happened on Capitol Hill. Bobert and Luna spotted Dave Chappelle wandering the halls of Congress on Thursday. Bobert posted it and wrote, just three people who understand there’s only two genders.

Luna tweeted the same photo and captured it ran into Dave Chappelle. Luna told Dave as they spoke, thanks for all you do. Representative Byron Donald’s, a Republican out of Florida, was also filmed greeting Dave Chappelle and chatting with Dave. Why was Dave at the Capitol Great question? Reportedly for meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus.

According to punch Bowl News, Dave was asked about this by reporter. He said, a lot of the people I grew up with work on the Hill, so I hang out here sometimes, and I’m in DC to catch up with old friends. A representative for Chappelle told the Washington Examiner that Chappelle did not conduct any business or attend any meetings while at the Capitol, given the reason that he was in town for last night’s Kennedy Center honors and an art is activism workshop at a local public high school. All right, we’ll keep an eye on that for tomorrow, Johnny Mac, you never talk about Matt Rife. I know, right.

Matt recently played Santa Rosa. The Press Democrat had somebody at the show, and apparently Matt offered a solution for anyone offended by his jokes. He said, we have a safe space for you outside the exit door. I’m sure he told it better. The Press Democrat rites on the soft side.

He talked about donating toys given him by fans to children, and made friends with a fan who sat with his diabetes service dog a pub named Waffles in one of the front rows. First, Rife denounced the dog as ugly, then later reckoned it was cute. A total of three and twenty fans attended Matt Rice’s two shows, including some who came from other states because their local right shows were sold out, according to a spokesperson for the Luther Burbank Center. As for the controversial joke and the Netflix special, I’ll remind you, Rife joked, Yeah, but I feel like if she could cook, she wouldn’t have that black eye. Raife addressed it to the audience on Wednesday and said, it’s a joke.

It’s not based on real circumstances, nor does it reflect my real feelings. At the Santa Rosa show, Rife tried out some new material We’re told based on his standby topics, which are relationships, sexuality, gender roles, misunderstood segments of the population, and taboo words and concepts. He also talked about some positive responses from fans. Riife had set on stage that he loves otters. A fan invited him to an otter sanctuary, and then Rife joked, I’m sure he told it better than I will.

It was in Florida and was in a bathtub, and it was just a powsome painted brown I guess in context and told properly that could Land more details about Kevin Hart and Chris Rock Headliners Only. This the documentary coming to Netflix on December twelfth. In Kevin Hart and Chris Rock Headliners Only, we follow the two comedy legends as they embark on a series of performances while also taking audiences on a tour throughout their varying trajectories leading up to it. In addition to Kevin Hart and Chris Rock, the documentary features interviews with Jerry Seinfeld, Wanda Sykes, Bill Byrd, Dave Chappelle, Tiffany Hannish, and Moore. Good note from Chris Rock, he says, I’m smart enough to always check to see what Kevin’s doing before I go on tour.

I’m not getting stumped by Kevin. That’s just not happening. John Mulaney spoke to a variety and said, going to rehab and a lot of other things that have become public knowledge, I felt there was no way to start doing stand up again without going through this. I also had a lot to say about it. It had been an extremely eventful time and the goal from the beginning was to do this as funny as I could make it, not as impactful as I could make it not to pause for dramatic effect.

I just wanted to be a little wilder and put you in my very confident, amended brain. During the time of addiction, I kept asking friends, do I come off like too much of an a hole? Jimmy Kimmel saw it at the tubidoor and said, yes, but you have to keep it all. I’ve been to my entire career where I think, oh, this is a little dark. I know if people are going to go with this.

For some reason, I had checked an audience from seventy years old to seven, and I’m aware of how this is going to play with a great, big group that I’m very lucky to have assembled. I just knew that this vein would be interesting to people. Mulaney was asked if he has any dad jokes, and he said, it’s a funny thing to me. I don’t have an immediate comedic take on being a dad. I have some stories that I think are funny because of the amount of talking we do.

Now we’re just chatting all the time, and I find the amount of time I spent talking to a twenty three month old versus any adults A musing Amy Schumer is set to Star and produce Kind of Pregnant. In Kind of Pregnant, we follow a Laney played by Amy Schumer, who is jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy and begins wearing a fake baby bump that accidentally meets the man of her dreams. M Nicole Bayer has done a deal with Destination Canada. They’ve teamed up to create Canadian Crash Course, a new virtual course designed encourage travelers to step out of their comfort zone and gain confidence navigating winter like an expert, Like a Canadian. Nicole Byer hosts lessons on navigating sche mishaps, chili plunges, fashion blunders, sport fails, and more.

In for these lessons, you can go from northern novice to winter. Pro Buyer says hosting the Canadian Crash Course has been a blast. Canadians really go above and beyond when it comes to friendly hospitality. Watch and learn as I try skiing, cold plunging, ice skating, bundling up from the the lights, hunting and more, finding the fun of the hiccups along the way. I mean, if you’re gonna try something new this winter, you better do it where they do.

Winter Rite Canada. Gianmarco Soresi CIRESI was up in Connecticut and said, I’ve been all over Connecticut and this is definitely one of the least interesting places. And that says a lot for Connecticut. I’ve not been able to find a good smoothie place. Every time I ask someone for breakfast recommendation, they go, h Fairfield, and I go, well, I’m stuck here.

You also talked about touring Europe and said, I would say that they might not understand as many American political references, but they had a better understanding of history in a way that let me make some jokes frankly about the Holocaust, that they just understood the intricacies of more than the typical American. They were not quite as in a runch of humor, but they were very into dark humor. I feel like, and these are broad strokes that I’m painting, that Europeans have a more honest understanding of their own countries in a way that really lets you talk crap about them. They make fun of us for the gun stuff very hard. It’s an easy way for an American to get a laugh here, like, oh, it’s nice to be here and get a break from all those shootings.

And they’re like ah, yes, that’s you, America. I am finally remembering while there’s a microphone in my hand to tell you that I watched Mike bur Bigley as the Old Man on the Pool. I watched it, like I don’t know, two weeks ago, and I keep forgetting to mention it. My take. I think you guys are gonna really like it.

I share that in the Facebook group, which is Daily Comedy News Podcast group. I think you guys will like it a lot. I like for Biggs as I watched it, and again, major comedy snob here, and as I’ve explained the past, I’ve listened to so much comedy over the last twenty years. My brain is just numb. I was struggling with it.

I didn’t believe his premises as he told the stories. I was like, I don’t think this actually happened, specifically the one about him wrestling, and it took me out of it. But that’s me. I think you guys will like it. It won’t make my personal list, but I think you guys will really like it.

Does that make sense? That’s just more about me being a snob, But I think it’s a solid special this week on the Weekly Comedy thing. That’s the show I host on the Live one app. The app is free. The show is free.

So you grabbed the Live one app and you download it and you look for the Weekly Comedy Thing, and there you will find me doing shre intros to comedy bits. It’s kind of like this podcast with a lot less me and a lot more actual comedians. On this week’s show. David Cross, John Mulaney, Nate Bergatzy Bet Stealing, Patton Oswalt, Bill Angvall, Adam Sandler’s Honaka song Sebastian Maniscalco, DJ Dimmers, who I’m really into right now, Gabe Iglesias, Kathy Griffin, Burbiggs, Eddie Hazard, Cheech and Chung and spinal Tap The Weekly Comedy Thing on the Live one app. Ed Helms is down for The Hangover Part four.

Please don’t the first one amazing, major diminishing returns, and don’t forget the Hangover kind of destroyed the later seasons of the Office because they pivoted to Ed Helms when they should have made Jim Helper the boss and didn’t really work. Elms told the Hollywood Reporter, I mean Bradley Cooper. Zach Alifanakis, director Todd Phillips. These are some of my favorite people on the planet. I would do anything with them.

Oh my goodness, I would do anything with those guys. Bradley Cooper recently told The New Yorker Radio Hour he would do another Hangover in an instant because I love Todd, I love Zach, I love Ed so much. I don’t think Todd’s ever going to do it. Helms agrees, like Bradley said, highly unlikely Todd would be up for it. The Hill caught up with Kat Timf who said, I find that joking about this stuff takes away some of its power.

The scarier and more devastating an awful and insturmountable something can seem. If you say, oh, you can’t joke about that, that makes it seem even more powerful. You’re totally allowed to think of joke’s not funny. You’re totally allowed to say, ah, that hurt my feelings. I don’t like that joke.

Here’s why, and have a conversation about it. To say you can’t joke about it is actually a cool thing to say when you think about it, because what you’re doing is you’re limiting the healing mechanism that people who are dealing with trauma might need Kat says, I’m a free speech absolutist, but there’s a distinction between jokes and somebody who’s just being a jerk on purpose. It matters if someone was trying to make a joke versus somebody who’s being racist, because that person is a racist and wants to spread racism. Of course there’s a difference. I’m a sensitive person.

I have a lot of feelings, but I don’t think there’s such a thing as a subject that humor would not touch. She talked about the potential of another Biden versus Trump making things hard for comics, and she said, yeah, I think in some ways, yeah, I think it’s also just emotionally, we’re really going to go through this again. I always vote third party, and I’m open about that. So all that remains to be seen is when it’s all over, which side is gonna blame me for the law? Does she worry about being canceled?

Kat said, what I found is it’s never to think you think it’s going to be. She talked about a controversy involving her and some Star Wars jokes. She said, all I said was I’ve never seen Star wars because it was too busy liking cool things and being attractive. There werecorders of the Internet that did not appreciate that. Let me pause here and shake off my laugh for her next sentence, I got death threats, a lot of sexual violence, much of it involving lightsabers.

What people don’t understand. Sometimes there’s no way to really know if a joke’s going to hit or not until you try it. And you can’t really be afraid of swing and miss, because sometimes you’re going to swing and miss. That’s your comedy news for today. If you enjoy this podcast, tell a friend about it.

They might like it too, and you can tell that friend they’ll find the show for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, overcast, pocketcasts, or wherever they like to get podcasts. See tomorrow

Caloroga Shark Media. Wait to hear this one. I couldn’t wait to tell you about it. Hi, I’m Johnny Meck with your Daily Comedy News. Do you hear the green on my face?

Oh? I love a good comedian fight. Sean McCarthy writes for The Daily Beast. Sean was at the New York Public Library on Wednesday, so was Cliff nester Off. He has a new book called Outrageous, A History of Showbiz in the Culture Wars.

Appearing on stage with Cliff Mark Maren Mark Maren took a question about Matt Rife. Maren said, well, first of all, like, don’t jump the gun on Matt Rife if you don’t know who he is. He’s the new it boy of a crappy comedy and he’s taken a big chance in his career right now to crap on the mostly female audience he accumulated through social media disorder. Kiss up to these pseudo edge lords, and personally, I don’t think it’s gonna go well for him and ultimately, my producer, Brendan MacDonald, the Genius, made a good point in saying that he thinks Matt Rife is actually mobilizing a new generation of comics to push back against what it stands for, much the way that Dane Cook did at a different time, to once again, you know, be creative and bring a new energy and voice to what that doesn’t represent. So maybe within show business there is hope.

Nestor Off talked about the connection between Matt Rife and Dane Cook. Maren joked that Riife might have a righteous grievance before adding, I forget this is going out on the internet right now. He dropped an F bomb, and now I’m gonna have to deal with Dane calling me. Hey, dude, it thought we were good. Hey, look, we’re all in the same business.

We’re just trying to entertain people. Maren and nestor Off talked about Lenny Bruce, George Carl and Richard Pryor. Nestroff said they weren’t merely trying to be provocative. Today this whole genre of provocateur comedy where a guy go up on stage will say a word that he knows is going to get an ooh and an ah says the word or the statement gets to the U in the E. The comic is like, what what what you designed it to get that reaction, and now you’re feigning this outrage, Maren said, it’s a false premise, this hackneyed idea.

What they’re actually doing is co opting the idea that their free speech words, and they’re actually fighting for the ability and not the right, but the space to further marginalize people. Nest off. But it’s two forms of free speed, each pressing against each other. And if you’re going to defend only the bigot, not the anti bigot, like who that for you? What’s wrong with you?

Maren? I’ll tell you they are. It’s half the country. They perfected this propagantic because they’re very organized. It’s been going on for a long time.

But the whole idea of wokeism generally speaking, you know, doesn’t even mean it says, this amazing umbrella term for everything the right’s been pushing back at just takes over everything and it makes it this single object focuseddaeology which doesn’t even mean anything.

And now the big word what sands to me is there were guys and one woman, Rosea…

In the book, Nestrov condemns the David Spades sitcom Just Shoot Me and also Dawson’s Creek and says they are leading to the downfall of America. Maren said, and I think the point is here, these guys just have to die. Suit her. We’re seeing with Bill morenew Maren realizes what he’s done and says, again, I’m going to be feeling calls and probably some sweets that are not going to Eh, it doesn’t matter. I love this more from Maren.

What we don’t realize is at any given point in time, you know the ten comedians that are popular, there’s literally a thousand that no one effing knows about. And I think it’s the same generationally now whether the platforms, whether it’s TikTok or whatever, there are a lot more comics and a lot more visibility. You can get contact out there that will put you on the radar. But in order to stain a career in show business, you must be able to do the job, and the nature of that job doesn’t seem to really change that much. But I do think this is different, and I think that ultimately what happens that is sad is that when I see these younger comics or comics a couple generations from me, and they think they’re doing something amazingly new, it’s really not, and they think they’re inventing it.

I guess every generation does. But I think there’s hope, and that seems that true artists and true comics and people that really have something to say in a creative generally surface in a big way. So I think that’s optimistic. Right. Oh my goodness.

I love that. Hopefully Bill Marndane Cook get annoyed this and Matt Riich shoots back because it’s December. I’ll take all the content I can get. This is wonderful. I love it.

Keep going. Mark Moontower announced the lineup for the now very worthy titles moon Tower Just for Laughs Austin Moontower Just for Laughs Austin will take place April tenth through the twenty first. Headliners include Andrew Schultz, Sheen Gillis, The Office Ladies, Jennie Fisher and Angela Kinsey, Kathy Griffin, Nicole Byer, Mark Maren and a screening of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, followed by a Q and A with Alan Ruck, who played Cameron in the movie, as well as Connor roy on Succession. You know that guy also played Captain John Harriman in Star Trek Generations, The State, Worr Knight, Michael ian Black, Thomas Lennon, Michael Patrick, Jen Kevin Allison, Carrie Kenny Silver, Joelatruglio, David Wayne, and Ken Marino. That’s pretty cool.

So I thought this was fun. I saw up breakout. There’s Moontower, twenty twenty four headliners, and then a section called also performing. All right, so your headliners are here, comes John reading a list if you want to hit skip, Amy Sidaris, Andrew Schultz, Ari Shaffer, Brad Williams, Kat Cohen. One of your headliners, Darcy and Jerr.

Remember I talked to them back in the summer. They’re pretty cool. Desi Banks one of your headliners, Frankie Kinyonis, Joe Parrah, Kathy Griffin, Ken Flora is one of your headliners, Mark Maren, Margaret chow Berbiggs, mo Hart, Nicole Byer, The Office, Lady’s Roy Withoo Junior, Shane Gillis, The State, Reunion, and Sugar Sammy now in the also Performing. I won’t read all the names, but some of the also performers catching my eye, Todd Berry, who in my opinion as the best special of the year, also performing, also performing, The Scar Brothers also performing, Shane Torres also performing, Liza Trigger So I’m not sure why they’re broken out into the also performing, but Moontower looks pretty good. Shane McGowan from The Pogues, who passed away this week, we have learned he spent his final months binging on Father Ted.

Another Father Ted mentioned I’m telling you if Father Ted’s where it’s at, find it. I told you about it the other day his wife Victoria, it’s all the sun. So he wouldn’t get bored. We brought in a DVD player to Shane and we’ve given him presents of classic movies on DVD and apparently episodes of Father Ted. The New York Football Giants have a bye today, but Tracy Morgan has been joking about their quarterback, Tommy DeVito.

You know about this guy. Everybody on the Giants got hurt and some dude name Tommy DeVito has been playing quarterback. DeVito lives at home, why because his parents’ house is right by the stadium. He’s like, it’s just easy and Jay dot Com spoke to Tracy Morgan about New York Football Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito and said, hey, Tracy, when did you move out of your mother’s house? Because you’re starting quarterback right now, Tommy DeVito still lives with his mom and dad.

Tracy said, that’s a good thing. That’s healthy. He needs all the caregiving and get You can’t just get coaching on the field. You gotta get coaching at home. Coach Brian Dayball won’t tell him to make his bed and Jay dot com but that’s a grown man, Tracy.

You can’t live at home and you’re making a million dollars. Divito will actually make nine hundred thousand dollars this year. Tracy said, sure you can. I did. I was living at home when I got hit by that Walmart truck.

My mother said, thank god it was Walmart and not Walgreens. That’s a great joke, Tracy. Hazy Central took my chair on old Man Mountain and they wrote, hey, remember when Eddie Murphy ruled comedy. They’re self aware and wrote, I know, pull up a chair and let me grab my earhorn and I’ll finish with my geezer story. Murphy shots of fame on Saturday Night Live and starting great movies like forty eight Hours and trading places in good movies like Beverly Hills Cop and was the most exciting stand up comic since Richard Pryorhere now Murphy makes movies like Candy Cane Lane a more decent than you think prime video holiday family film.

The point is Murphy used to be the funniest person on the planet. Now he’s not even the funniest person in the movie. In fairness, he’s not trying to be, but still apparently Eddie plays the straight man for much of Candy Kane Lane. He stars as Chris Carver, a husband and father who loves Christmas. Low Despite his best efforts, he can’t win the annual holiday decorations contest on his block.

Again, I don’t know how this is not a d Adam Sandler movie. This screams Adam Sandlor to me. Anyway, plot points don’t matter. The important part for the purposes of this podcast is apparently Chris Red is very funny. In Itzy Central writes, everything that comes out of the mouth of Chris Red’s character is comedy gold.

He’s hilarious. Two and a half stars. TV insider wrote, who will be the new host of The Daily Show? Seventeen options ranked. I have not looked at this because I like to react as I see it.

Least likely, they say Al Franken, the former Senator, had the highest ratings of the guest host earlier. That’s interesting, but DV insider says if Comedy Central wanted an older host that would excite fans from all generations, it would need to be John Stewart.

Also in the least likely category, John Leguizamo, Yeah, I agree, that’s not …

Least likely Hasan Minhaj Wow. He basically had the chair oops. Least likely Roy Wood Junior. They said Roy is made a clear he’s moving on. Least likely Chelsea Handler they rate I don’t think she’d want the full time gig.

I’m not so sure about that. Least likely Sarah Silverman, They say the same applies to Sarah Silverman, that applies to Chelsea Handler and John Leguizamo. They’re good fits as guest host, but got other stuff going on. Least likely Leslie Jones. They don’t think she would want to commit to one big thing.

Not so sure. Likely Ronnie Ching during the week, there was an interview with Ronny Chieng. He didn’t seem interested in it. Likely Michael Costa. He was the first guest host of the New Roster that kicked off in October.

I haven’t seen much buzz Onsta. Likely Desi Lydick. She could be a really good choice. Let’s keep an eye on her.

Also during the week, there was an interview with her likely d’ll say Sloan.

Likely Jordan Klepper. They point out he’s the last remaining correspondent who was on the show when John Stewart was host. Likely Michelle Wolfe. I think she would be fantastic, and they write, likely John Stewart, that’s not happening. That said, I have advocated for an idea where the Daily Show moves to CBS proper and John Stewart comes back.

But I guess you could just give John Stewart a political show on CBS A not brand it with the Daily Show. I don’t know. I think it makes a lot of sense. They’ve got paramount plus as a streamer. John’s apple gig is over.

It’s an election year. Maybe John comes back for a year and you figure it out from there. Maybe John does four nights a week and you let somebody else do the fifth day, so we get used to them like they did thirty years ago with Jay Leno and Johnny Carson. TV Insider has Charlemagne the God as likely. Charlemagne is back hosting this week.

They have Deesus Nice in the likely category. I thought his appearance was not as awesome as the other appearances. Nudge nudge, wink wink Ooh. Now the most likely category cal Pen, who will guest host again on week of December eleventh. TV Inside reminds us Calpen was the Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs during the Obama administration and start on his own show, The Big Picture with cal Pen that’s similar to the Daily Show style.

I don’t remember that show at all. They add as a bonus, Penn is a gay South Asian man, which would diversify the late night talk show space. And that is your comedy news for today. You can follow the show for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, overcast podcast where show. If you like the show, tell somebody about it theym I like it too.

See tomorrow

Caloroga Shark Media. Hello, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. Ricky Gerviz has become the co owner of a distillery. He will now be helping to sell the products of Eller’s Form Distillery, starting with its Dutch Born Orchard vodka. Hi.

I’m Ricky Gerbets and I am thrilled to announce that I am now the proud co owner of Ella’s Farm Distillery and we make Dutch Barn vodka. It tastes great, It’s made from British apples. We’re committed to sustainability and the protection of the ecosystem. And the best bit is this could literally make me hundreds of millions, so please buy it. Yeah.

Sure, like all strong liquor, it may damage your liver and your well being, but think how happy it’ll make me if so. And the saving the planet thing Dutch Bomb, Ricky said, I’d been looking to invest in eco friendly businesses for a while and as soon as I found Dutch Born, I want it in. I love the planet and I love a drink, so it was the perfect combination. On a serious note, Dutchborn is a really quality product. I love the fact that it’s done differently and I can’t wait to let everyone know about it.

Chris Freezer, who founded the distillery, gave some wonderful pr quote. He said, we’re so excited to have Ricky joined the team. With so many hollow celebrity cash for face brand endorsement deals out there, we’re really pleased to forge an authentic partnership with Ricky, involving both investment and creative leadership. Ricky will be an integral part of the business going forward and will help shape how Dutchborn is seen around the world. Last year, Ricky spoke to the website Joe and said, I have a glass of wine at six o’clock.

I mean, I’m looking at the clock at five to six. I just think I enjoyed doing it. I think if it started ruining your life or affecting your life, or you can’t get up the next day, then it’s probably not a good idea. In fact, it’s probably not a good idea to drink full stop and pick one SNL’s back tonight. Emma Stone joins the Five Timers Club, which I find absolutely fascinating because I was like, where do I even know Emma Stone from?

And I googled her. I’m sure she’s wonderful, and I’m like, I still don’t know who emastone is. But she’s up there with Tom Anklin, Steve Martin there, congratulations and Noah Kahan is your musical guest next week. Adam Driver, I know who that is. And Olivia Rodrigo, Oh, my daughter’s going to be very excited about that.

She doesn’t know about that yet. I will tell her. And Lorne Michael’s whipping it out for December sixteenth, the Christmas episode before the Break. Kate McKinnon and Billie Eilish. Nice, you know not that Adam Driver and Olivia Rodrigo is slacking?

Good bookings there, Lorne Michaels, He’s apparently good at the whole Saturday Night Live thing. Deadline caught up with Bert Krascher, who says he has a scripted series and multiple films in the works, including Fat Astronauts with Tom Sigore. I’ve talked about this before. He’s into acting, he said. When I got home from Serbia, I assume from filming The Machine he wasn’t just randomly in Serbia.

When I got home from Serbia, I will say that very candidly, I was like, I’m not an actor, but I think I want to be a movie star. I don’t think I have a passion for acting. I think I have a passion for being the center of attention. But you’ve got to know your strengths and weaknesses. He hopes to get more ambitious with his production company, Bertie Boyd Productions.

He names Kevin Hard as a role model. If anything, I’m an idea guy, and Tom sigor is an execution guy, and I’m a little bit of a sponge. I bring everything our way. Last week I told him we need to start a bedding app. One of the ideas is the Two Bears racing team that will see Tom Sagora followed passion he’s been recently entertaining.

Bert says, Tom is racing. We do have a race car. We’re definitely going to be running the Gumball three thousand this year from Cairo to Singapore. That sounds like it would be a fun TV program. Bert says, comedy’s hot.

There’s tons of theaters out there, tons of fans. None of us are slowing down. We’re all going to continue with our podcast. We’re all working on a new special. We’ve all got five projects in the Fireweight and it happened.

We’re all really happy to be here. John Mulaney shared that although he didn’t know Matthew Perry, he finds himself affected by Matthew Perry’s death. Aline He says, addiction is just a disaster. Life is a wobbly table at a restaurant and you pile all the stuff on it and it gets wobblier and wobblier and more unstable. The drug just kicked the legs out from under the table, and I really identified with his story, thinking about him a lot.

The Motion Picture Sound Editors announced award winning actor, comedian, and author Patton Oswalt will host the seventy first Annual Golden Reel Awards seventy one Yeah apparently. The seventy first Annual Golden Reel Awards takes place Sunday, March third, in LA Patton said, as a film buff, getting to highlight the hidden artisans to create movie memories as important as any moving image is a joy for me. I can’t wait for this year’s Mpsee Golden Reel Awards sounds like a crafted quote. It’s not how people speak inside. Spoke to Cheech Marin, he talked about how Chi Chi Chan came about.

I went to Canada in my early twenties as part of the draft resistance movement during the Vietnam War. I started doing comedy because they paid me more for doing comedy than delivering carpets, just what I was doing in Vancouver before I met Tommy Chong. We were really just trying to get paid so we can make rent. We moved to la in Our early goal was how are we going to find a dollar fifty every day? That was the amount of money we needed every day to buy a bag of rice or some beef and greens to make a Chinese meal.

We went from club to club trying to look for a gig while carrying this little red wagon with us. Whatever we found, pop bottles or soda cans would throw them in the wagon to get the five cent deposit per can. By the time we finished our journey, sometimes we wait a dollar fifty and we could go buy something to eat. That was our quest. If you want to see our motivation, that’s motivation.

I think what audience has loved about Cheechenshong is that we represented what was going on in the times in a kind of benevolent way. We learned how to create this inoffensive, pointed humor. When creating our shows. We used what we called the omniburger approach, where the show has just the right amount of meat, the right amount of tomatoes, a little bit of mustard, because you could serve it in an appetizing way. In Atlanta one day, in New York City the next Subashton Maniscalco making the rounds.

The New York Times asked him some of the things he likes. Some of the things like to buy, Sebastian Maniscalco include Italy. They have lobsters in an aquarium where the kids can look, and they have big hole fish with the eyeballs. They have a little pasta station. I asked them, okay, pick out the pasta that you want Daddy to make you tonight.

I feel like they have more of an appreciation of the food because they’re invested in it. I also want to open up their palates to different sauces on the pasta other than butter and cheese. Some guys go golfing. I like cooking for people. It’s a little nerve wracking because something could go wrong and you’ve got thirteen people over The problem with me is I like to do it too much.

I like people to be full before they even start eating the entree. Sebastian always likes surprise date nights. Sometimes you become ships passing of the night and you need that time together as a couple. So she picks a night and surprises me where we’re going to go, and then the next week I’ll pick a night and surprise her. I think it’s very important to have those date nights in a marriage that let you reconnect.

He’s also a fan of Succession, saying it’s more of a comedy for me because I find myself laughing and a lot of things they say, particularly Brian Cox who is hysterical in this thing, and Kieran Colkin the zingers that they throw out. I think I’ve got about four episodes left. Amy Pohlar is going to be doing a masterclass. Let’s listen. Hi, I’m Amy Pohlar, and I’m standing in front of a bunch of books, which means I’m smart and you have something to learn from me.

Let’s get started. Amy tells The Hollywood Reporter the principles of improv’d be more creative, more resilient, and more collaborative. My class is an attempt to show how preparing to be unprepared can add value on how we approach life and relate to other people. In Prepared to be Unprepared, Amy Poehler shares nine principles of improv, including don’t bail on your partners, don’t worry about being cool. In my class, we’re going to discuss how these improv principles affect your real life.

It’s for people working in relationship, parents, you know, how do you deal with the kind of everyday humanness of life. Yahoo asked some comedians if stand up still has a place in the age of YouTube and streaming. Angela Johnson Raya said, heck yeah, I think it’s growing. I mean, there’s always been random rooms you can go in and do stand up comedy at this cafe, car wash whatever. Car wash awesome.

But I think even more so and even more towns. But I think in even more towns comedy is growing. It used to be La or New York, like, those are the spots if you want to do stand up. Now Nashville has become a little hub for stand up comedy. There’s a thriving scene of stand up comedians out there.

She left out Austin Fortune. Fiemester said, I think stand up is bigger than it’s ever been. It’s so difficult to find availabilities at theaters every night. I just put out a ton of new dates on this tour. I’ve been touring this material for the last year.

We did the next leg of the tour and I think things like TikTok and YouTube we’re getting people a lot of exposure. They’re getting very popular from those mediums, and then they take that and they take it out on the road. The Express spoke with the creator of Father Ted and The id Krowd, Graham Lenihan. He said there’s been a chilling effect on comedy due to quote a sudden atmosphere of censoriousness. I like that word.

Graham was recently canceled due to his views on transgender people. He was banned from Twitter and had his Edinburgh Fringe show scrapped by the venue. He talked about the successes of the shows he created and said I think everybody’s beginning to realize was kind of the golden years for British comedy. I’m getting a bit nervous now that this kind of wealth of comedy that we might not see again for a while because of the sudden atmosphere of sense in what you might call a psychonic politeness that means you’re not allowed to make fun of anyone. I think there’s definitely a chilling effect.

And you know, by the lack of good comedies in the last five years, there’s very few strong ones. He said, it would be impossible to make something like the Young Ones now, he said, these people take themselves so seriously. You simply wouldn’t be allowed to be entering in a lot of these third rail issues that you’re not allowed to talk about, the trans issue, race issues. You’d have to speak about those things. But I think now if someone came up with an idea with the same kind of anarchic quality, the same kind of desire to grapple with the reality of what it’s like to be young in the UK, the moment, you wouldn’t be allowed to do it.

I mean not allowed to do it. Wouldn’t occur to you to do it, because you just wouldn’t be able to imagine getting it off. The Telegraph highlighted Father Ted’s success as being down to its gentle nature humor. Have you ever seen Father Ted. Let me see if it’s streaming anywhere.

Father Ted follows three Irish priests, the old drunk priest, the young priest who really isn’t sure he wants to be a priest, and then the main guy who’s just trying to get things going. Let’s see. There are three seasons on Roku Crackle Free V. I highly recommend Father Ted. You would enjoy it.

Graham said. We always felt if someone’s doing one kind of thing, do the opposite and we’ll stand out. And that’s what we always did. We just thought if every other character in sitcoms at the time were cynical and rude, we had characters who would say feck instead of the bad word because they’re so polite and they’re so innocent, and there’s something about that and it just allowed us to stand out from everybody. Is that where feck comes from?

My Irish friends use that word, So I don’t know if that’s a thing that then drift into Father Ted. Maybe it went the other way. Anybody from Ireland out there, let me know. Hit me up. My contact is in the show notes.

Renowned German comedian Henning When best known for his appearances on shows like eight out of ten cats. When on Twitter to vent frustrations at the exorbitant cost of renting a simple two bed flat for the duration of Fringe in twenty twenty four, Wenn said yesterday I was flat hunting for the Edinburgh Fringe. Going rate for bog standard two bedroom flat for the month seems to be nine thousand pounds. Nick Coppin has spotted a camper van on someone’s drive for seven thousand for the month. I think that’s me done with the Fringe.

Others took to the thread to say they too felt priced out of the festival. We heard a lot about this the last two years. One user said, as a punter, I’ve booked a room at student Halls in Holyrood nine nights at around nine hundred quid. The whole comedy side of things could move to Manchester Liverpool be a lot cheaper all around, Probably cheaper to get a flat in Inverness and rent a helicopter for the month. Susan Russell’s the head of marketing for the Fringe Society, and said we spent hours, days, weeks and months dedicated to this issue across our team.

Continue to do all we can in a challenging market of privately owned accommodation at a city struggling with a housing crisis. Plans proposed for the twenty twenty four Fringe including an Olympic style village by performers, as well as campsites set up around the city. Hum that’s your comedy news for today. Caloroga Shark Media. Hello on Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News. I was driving in the car with my daughter and she obviously knows what I do for a living. She’s like, did you see the Matt Rife plastic surgery thing? And I was like, no, do tell.

Life and Style magazine has recapped the controversy of sorts people of speculating did Matt Rife have plastic surgery. Some social media users have accused Matt of getting implants and his jaw and cheeks to give him more chiseled appearance. Matt says his face is all natural. In a July twenty twenty three interview with Access Hollywood’s Mario Lopez, Matt said the biggest lie he’s read about himself was quote that I’ve had plastic surgery. That’s the funniest thing in the world to me because I hit puberty too late.

I didn’t look like this until I was twenty three. Sorry, if you need surgery to look like that. So what does did this up? TikTok famous plastic surgeon, I guess. Doctor Benjamin Coughlin posted a video of himself quote skipping along to the song Hurricane by Bridget Mendler.

I have no idea. I just read some words. I’m so old, I have no idea what we’re talking about. Uh. The TikTok famous plastic surgeron with this song captioned it me after creating the greatest jawline ever seen, just for my patient to get canceled right after dot dot dot, He added, the comedian will not be named.

Many users in the comments inferred that it was Matt Rife. Well, Matt Rife apparently saw this, and he responded posted lying about medical history as illegal just fyi. Social media users responded to that and said, revealing yourself into your surgeon’s big post isn’t seen. He just outed himself with the comments. There are so many awards shows.

I can’t actually remember if we’ve talked about this before, but Variety was talking about the new commentwards, the Golden Globes. I don’t remember if this is new news or not, but let me tell you who they are. The numbinees are Chris Rock, Selective Outrage, John Mulaney, Baby, j Amy Schumer, emergency contact, Mark Maron from Bleak to Dark, Sarah Silverman, somebody loved Marlond Wayne’s God loves Me, Nate Bergatzy Hello World. Out of those, I would give it to Nate. The categories open to programs of thirty minutes or more released on a broad array of platforms, including broadcast, basic in premium, cable streaming, and pay per view of note.

Shows host on your social media accounts, including YouTube are not eligible. So that’s interesting. So there’s plenty of specials on YouTube, say Todd Barry, which I think is the best special deer not eligible. Sebastian manascalco out doing press for Bookie. He told USA Today, I don’t know anything other than working hard every day since I was young.

Actually, I think it’s a disease. Sebastian, Now that you’re a big time actor, would you ever stop doing stand up comedy? Interesting answer here, he said. I’ll always do stand up, but you need breaks. You can’t do stand up twenty four hours a day, three sixty five days.

You have to live your life to get your material. Chris Rock told me this. If you never make an exit, it’s hard to make an entrance. You don’t want people thinking, ah, I can always see that, guys. So maybe I do a comedy tour, go away for a couple of years to do other projects, then come back and tour interesting Kiss playing their final shows tonight and tomorrow at Madison Square Guard in New York City.

Comedian Craig Gas is celebrating this. He’ll play comic strip live on Sunday, and Gas said, I’m making fun of Kiss for an hour, but it’s with love. I’ve gotten to perform with Kiss over the years. I’ve had a strange relationship with Kiss. Apparently this started when Gas did his Gene Simmons impression on the Howard Stern Show.

Gas said that bothered Gene so much he got on a plane and flew to New York City to confront me live on the air. Shortly afterward, I was contacted by Kisses management company, who wanted to tell me that their singer Paul Stanley was my biggest fan. Then Paul Stanley started offering me gigs to perform with Kiss on this event called the Kiss Cruise. Cruise with a K. He asked Paul Stanley, you know what’s the deal here?

And Paul goes, well, let me ask you a question. How many jokes do you have about Geens Simmons? I said literally hours? And he said you got the gig, the entire show beginning, and will be my stories about my run ins with Kiss and how many times I’ve been scared to death. I was going to get murdered by Jane.

That’s awesome. Well, you know, it’s not awesome if Geene Simmons murders Craig Gas. Although in terms of content for this podcast, that’ll get me at least two three days of great articles. I worked with Craig a few times. He used to be a frequent guest on The Jim Brewer Show.

He does a really good Eddie van Halen. He lived with Eddie for a little while. I’ve mentioned this before. One of my favorite things we did was we had Billy Mira on doing David Lee Roth and Gas doing Eddie, and we announced a Van Halen reunion before Van Halen reunions actually happened. We got a little pickup on that we were just messing around.

Was fun. Robert Smigel told Salon that he never set out to be dangerous. I did set out to be satirical, and I didn’t put limits on myself. If Lauren Michaels didn’t. At SNL, Michael said, it’s a bit of meritocracy there, and when I first got there, I thought Lauren hated me for a year and I barely got rehired after the first year, which was a disastrous year.

In eighty five eighty six with Michael Hall and all these really great people. Joan Cusack was one of the funniest people I’ve ever known, a Randy Quaid. The show struggled and we were getting beaten up for the writing. Then they ended up keeping most of the writers, including me, and I survived it. Then we brought in Phil Hartman and Jan Hooks and Dana Carvey, and Norah Dunn was there, and Kevin Neal and Victoria Jackson.

It were just sketch veterans, people who were really born to do sketch comedy changed overnight. They asked Michael if there were sketches he really had to fight for some that didn’t make it, So Michael said one of those was pulled permanently. We did Michael Jackson three times. That was one of my first ideas when I went to Lorne and said, I want to go back to the show. Here’s three things I can do.

I can do the ambiguously gay, do a thing this ex President’s Cartoon and this fun with real audio thing where we take real audio and turn it into a cartoon. The fourth one was actually doing Hannah Barbara kind of cartoon characters about celebrities. The first one I pitched was Michael Jackson as kind of Yogi Bear. The way Yogi Bear kept snatching picnic baskets, Michael Jackson did the same with underage boys. Basically, that was the premise.

That’s what was going on in the nineties. The nineties were in incan time comedically, because the dam burst in the nineties. Basic Cable had joined the fray in the eighties and HBO had broken out. There was all this pressure suddenly on network television to compete with Basic Cable and pay cable to be more outrageous and reflect the real world more. Suddenly in the early nineties, the standards department was dissolved in NBC.

It came back in a much softer capacity. That happened everywhere Fox within Loving Color the kind of stuff they would do, and everybody applauded it at the time because it was considered taboo breaking and outrageous. Isn’t that great networks are loosening up? But retrospect some of the most politically incorrect things that would be perceive now, like sketches that made fun of handicapped people or gay people. Relentless kind of sketches that way.

The nineties and early zeros, I would say would be the most reflective of that time. He said, I’m still proud of the ambiguously gay due at least the concept because it was supposed to make fun of homophobia and our obsession with it. These guys gay, they seem gay, and the absurdity of carrying so much to the point where superheroes, the most heroic people in the world. All they’re trying to do is save the world, and the audience is obsessed with whether they’re gay or not. I know what’s weird.

I’ve been telling you about Evil Billing Vall. He’s disappeared. He has stopped go into the National Donut Chain. Maybe he’s a listener. I don’t know what’s going on.

It’s very strange. The Daily Show has announced their upcoming guest host Calpen and Charlamage the God will get another shot each. It’s their second time in this round of auditions Charla Maine. This week December fourth, Cal Penn December eleventh, Variety says executives at the Paramount Global Network they’re said to be eager to study audience research and get another look at how various personalities handle the job. I’ll get into that a little bit more tomorrow.

John Appatsow has a new documentary about the friendship of Don Rickles and Bob Newhart. In the twenty minute piece, Newhart and his wife reflect on their well known close friendship with Rickles and his wife, Bob and Don a love story. Where can I see this, Johnny Mac, Well, you’ll have to go to the New Yorker website. Seems like that might have been a bigger thing that was supposed to air somewhere else. Hopefully we get a longer cut of that from Newsweek.

During a recent performance in a comedy club, an audience member asked Ashley Gavin, how do you feel about Israel? Gavin said, what do you mean? How do I feel about it? How the f am I supposed to feel about it? The crowdburst in a laughter, and Gavin asked, how am I supposed to make this funny?

The ghost of George Cardon could make this effing funny? What do you want me to say a rabbi and a Palestinian walked into a bar. That joke landed. Sheells your rabbi so fat in the style of a classic Yo Mama joke. Gavin is stunned by the laughter and tells the audience member, I just effing did it.

She then asked the woman if she’s also Jewish. The woman confirmed she is. Gavin tells her, you have to be. That’d be super weird if you weren’t Jewish. A Palestinian because no one just plain white is like, hey, yeah, talk about it.

We want to hear it. Most people seem to like what she said, although TikTok User five nine eight zero five three five one six nine zero seven three apparently called her ignorant. Newsweek is keeping a tally of where various people are on this issue. Celebrities who have been slammed for their support of Israel include Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp, comedians Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman, actress Galgadott, and Will and Grace starre Deborah Messing. That was coming under fire for supporting Palestinians include Susan Sarandon, former adult film star at Media, Khalifa and the Incredible Hulk Mark Ruffalo from the San Francisco Gate.

Just days after comedian Daude naim Jar received the contract for a two night’s stint at a Dallas comedy club, his manager received an unexpected email from the clubs bookers. The show was off. There was no explanation, so the manager gave the venue a call. According to the report, the cancelation had something to do with Nimiyar’s recent social media posts. He told the Gate, all of my most recent posts have to do what’s going on over there, meaning Gaza.

In one sketch, he dresses up in a suit and plays a real estate agent for the fictional Israeli reality group formerly known as the Palestinian Reality Group, which advertises free recently sees land to Israeli settlers. His character says, this whole area used to be schools and hospitals, but we bombed it. He said he sat on the sketch for two weeks after shooting it because he were to be insensitive. I like to make people genuinely laugh at terrible situations. But he got enough positive feedback from Jewish and Palestinian freends he decided to release it.

He tells the Gate. If they’re stopping me from my political beliefs or my jokes, they might be doing to other Muslim comedians or other people who are in a similar stance. And Hey, you want to see somebody naked? M m. You know what I’m saying.

Once you had the Naked Comedy show in Brooklyn tonight, who are gonna see naked Johnny Mac, Nat Towsond, Madelin Murphy, Geneva rust Order, Tony Sakowski, Herbie Gill Beecher, Wanda Colon, Sarah Barnet, and Hannah Gerlander. New York City’s Naked Comedy organizer Billy Prosida says, if they were wearing the clothes, he’d still be like, this is a great lineup. Do you like creepy voice? I don’t. Billy says, you forget you’re naked.

Like a minute into it. A lot of the comics are surprised by how not weird it feels. Once they’re up there. You get like thirty seconds with the audience of them being like, hah, look, and after that first thirty they’re like, do you have jokes?

Also, anybody in the audience who is brave enough to get naked and tell a jok…

Is welcome to that’s you, dear listener, Believe it or not, a handful of attendees usually do, and the winner gets a ordered a prize. Is what are the prizes? It could be some weed? Are you allowed to just get away weed? I don’t know what the New York City laws are these days?

Or a vibrator. Billy says, the more naked the audience gets, the more fun the whole audience ends up being. Before the show, comedians are known to do pushups to tone their arms, or use a resistance band for buns of steel, and he admits sometimes the male comedians are worried about how they’ll present. Is the word that was used. That’s your comedy news for today.

Caloroga Shark Media. Hello, I’m Jenny Mack with your Daily Comedy News. Deadline caught up with Bert Kracher, who’s talking about his twenty twenty three and he says, for lack of better analogies, it’s felt like a runaway train that I’ve just been holding on to. He compares it to a skier who gets going too fast and just praise he won’t fall. Been there, done that.

I’ll tell you a story some other time about me crashing through not one, two, three, four five, and says maybe Bert has a certain level of fear. I remember Ali Wong telling me it doesn’t go away, and I looked at her and I was like, it one hundred percent does goes away for everyone. And I’m hyper aware of just how fortunate I am. So I wasn’t gonna let go. I held onto this bowl and was like, I’m gonna ride this as long as it lets me ride, and I’m gonna go as hard as if and ken I’m never gonna say no, I’m gonna push it.

He profile points out Bert is aware of the place he occupies in the world of comedy. He says, I’m no John Mulaney and I’m no Chris Rock. He knows that his signature style of performing shirtless makes it challenging for some people to take him seriously. Before a special The Machine premiered on Showtime in twenty six, he was warned that doing the show shirtless would lose him viewers, and that special, which is now kind of famous, wound up being the lowest rated Showtime had ever put out. He credits Joe Rogan for encouraging him to get into podcasting.

Bert says, back when he was doing things like trip Flip for the Travel Channel, it required him travel all over the world doing stuff he didn’t want to do, like swimming with great white sharks, and he made maybe thirty five hundred dollars an episode. But when he began podcasting, he realized after his first one hour episode he’d made seventy five hundred dollars while just sitting around telling stories with friends. He had no overhead, and he began putting episodes together himself and didn’t need to travel, and best of all, there’d be no cut of his feet going to agents, managers and lawyers. Bert said, at that moment, I went, I will never do television again. This is what I want to do.

The Guardian went to see Trevor Noah’s show and they say most of the show reports back on countries and cultures Trevor Noah has encountered while touring, leaving you wondering what did he talk about on the opening shows of the tour. It’s quite the feat to turn these experiences into so much material so soon, but a lot of it rehash hystereotypes. The rude Parisian, the angry Glasswegian, the Londoner resisting eye contact on the tube. That we don’t have real crime in the UK is an observation US based comic has been making since at least Bill hicks hooligan routine. It’s as if Noah, whose technical brilliance isn’t in question, has challenged himself to see if he’s good enough to reanimate some of comedy’s horiust conceits.

He is. The Guardian ads he usually finds an angle on the familiar that jolts it back into the funny. But after two hours, I wanted something fresher and insights, say into the Trevornoah behind the smooth stand up operator, this detached observer of global wars. Noah’s so slick at all, this so supremely at ease on stage. That can feel like coasting, like a holiday for a man who spent seven hard years at Satsire’s Coal Face.

You can’t deny he’s earned it more that it’s fun to come along for the ride. Up Rocks asked Ronnie Ching when he called his tour love to hate it. Ronnie said, I just wanted something cool. It was a little bit funny. I’m sure you know.

It’s hard to think of titles for things, so I was brainstorming for a few weeks. It’s almost like part of me is like, why am I caring so much about something? It doesn’t really matter. It doesn’t need to describe anything. It actually ended up being a good title because it actually does describe where I’m at.

Sometimes you complain professionally as a stand up comedian, in other words, you love to hate it. As a comic, we complain about stuff, but we do it because we love doing comedy. Ronnie said, I love traveling around America and seeing towns and cities that people crap on. I go there and I’m like, oh, this is great. Everyone’s always been really nice to me on the tour.

The fans have been nice to me for the most part. That’s funny. About the most part. I wonder what the other part is. So I get to be a lot of people.

I mean, obviously different ethnicities, but different political backgrounds as well. They’ve always been cool. I like to think I’ve shown mutual respect back. It’s why I say in the show, I talk a little bit about how face to face everyone in America seems fine. Just when you go on the internet, it seems like we’re always on the borderline of civil war.

But face to face, there’s a lot of decency in America. There are more good people than bad people here. Just for last Vancouver announced their performers for the twenty twenty four edition of the annual festival February fifteenth through the twenty fourth in Vancouver. If you’ve never been, Vancouver is an awesome city. There’s an episode of my Travel Is backpodcast where I talk about Vancouver.

There’s a bike shop at least there was ten years ago across from Stanley Park that I loved. I wanted to buy it and just make that my life, or I just rented bikes and hung out in that park. It’ll debut December seventh. David chared eight trailer. He’s a clip. You don’t need that one? Oh you don’t, Yeah, you can have them if you’re cold?

Are you going that I can hear you if I don’t have mine. Hi, David Cross and I have a new podcast on Headgum called Senses Working Overtime. Initially, the premise was getting a bunch of friends and family members. You know, Bob oden Kirk, Jason Bateman, Ni Gine Farsa, Steve O, Mark Maren, Jennine Garoppolo, Amber Tamblin, lots and lots of lots of really cool, funny, interesting people. I’m not trying to be funny or anything.

I don’t understand you don’t talking to them about questions relating to the five senses. So the idea for the podcast was David Cross would ask his guests to explore their best, worst, funniest, satus, most beautiful, etcetera. Things they’d ever seen, touch, tasted, smelled and heard. Somewhere along the way, it became a loose premise, a jumping off point to learn more about a variety of fascinating people. Some of those fascinating people include Bob oden Kirk, who you heard on the trailer, Mark Maron, Janine Garoffalo, John Hodgman, Joe Firestone, Eugene Merman, Steve oh amber Tamblin, and Jason Bateman.

A Cross in a statement said, I kind of went into this a bit reluctantly, thinking who’s going to want to listen to or watch another podcast? But I’m really enjoying it. It’s been a lot of fun, with a lot of laughs, with some RAYTL friends and some good new ones. I hope I can make your car, bus, subway, plane, train ride more tolerable. Russell Peters will have a new special at some point.

A production company put out a pressure lease saying they have acquired the special that Russell taped in Abu Dhabi on November twenty third. In the special covers issues such as cancel, culture, aging, and the current geopolitical state of the world, and includes Russell peters signature crowd work. Sebastian Maniscalco’s new show Bookie, is out today on Max. Roger Ebert dot Com gave it a very unenthusiastic review. They wrote, Maniscalco pushes his way through some awful writing in the premiere of Bookie, a half hour of television that can be downright archaic in its sense of humor when it’s not just lazy.

For example, one of Danny’s clients cross dresses as a way to hide from him, leading to some trashy trans jabs, because of course it does. As we’re making jokes about something as addictive as gambling. That’s fine if they’re clever, but everything here is cheap and uninspired. It’s a laugh track, a reduction in profanity, and a studio audience away from being your standard network sitcom. Roder Reaper dot Com continues and says, I don’t think most of the failures of the premiere fall at the feet of Maniscalco, an entertaining stand up who hasn’t quite figured out how to carry himself on screen as a fictional character.

He always looks uncomfortable when he’s not playing himself, But most people would with the writing in this series premiere, a show that I might have once suggested was beneath the HBO brand. But well we all know what happened to that part of the max agenda. Ouch ouch ouch. The New York Times profiled Sebastian this one a little better. They asked him about things he likes.

All right, Sebastian, what are the things you like? One of them Farmer’s markets. Sebastian says, it’s not necessarily shopping for fresh ingredients, but for me now with kids, to watch them walk around the farmer’s market and get excited about seeing that they’re making caramel corn, or get his feed the goat or the rabbits, or there’s a whole pistachial stand as a family tradition that we do on Sundays when I’m in town. Sebastian also likes his wife’s art. My wife is unbelievably positive and cheerful, and her art reflects her personality.

It’s abstract, it’s colorful of tampy. I wasn’t a big art guy prior to being my wife, but I have a different appreciation now about what goes into creating of art. We have this huge peace in the living room that you just put up, and it’s different shades of green. It reminds me of her every time I see it. They also enjoy their willy pop movie nights.

We love making pop corner. My wife churned me onto this machine which has this crank on the side that stirs the colonels. Just canola oil and salt, that’s all you need. We sit and we watch movies, and now the kids are getting older, they’re starting to get into movies I grew up with like The Wizard of Oz and Willie Walka. My daughter is into doing all the songs from Greece.

My San Antonio dot com took us to Gossip Corner, apparently fresh off his sold out shows in San Antonio, Ralph Barbosa was spotted at Midnight Swim, which is a Saint Mary’s Strip bar. So you gotta be careful here because you might assume that it’s a strip bar in Saint Mary’s. No, the location is called the Saint Mary’s Strip, but the sentence says the Saint mary Strip Bar posted snaps and the first time I was like, ooh much Gossip Corner. But no, no, no, it’s just an area called the Saint Mary’s Strip in which there’s a bar named the Midnight Swim. Got it, I’m sure you do.

The bar posted snaps from their celebrity guest on Instagram. In the photos, we see rah Off Barbosa happily posing for the camera solo, as well as a shot of him taking photos with fans under Midnight Swims. Wish you were here, Archway, My San Antonio went full gossip corner. They said, it’s not known if he grabbed a Midnight Swim specialty cocktail, but he was seen clutching a Medello. Modello right now is the number one beer in America.

I’ve been a fan four years. It’s really caught on. Ralph shared some photos on his own insta. He reshared one fan story of him up on stage at the Laugh Out Loud comedy club. But my San Antonio dot com tells us Barbosa’s Instagram post from November twenty sixth is a bit more mysterious.

You’re curious. It’s clear that the photo was taken during the comics venture to the Saint Mary’s Strip. Barbosa seen wearing the same white shirt, gold necklace, and white Louis Vuitton monogram bucket hat that he was wearing at Midnight Swim. The question is did he make any other stops on the strip before heading up to Austin for the next top on his tour. After all, they point out, there’s great food stops near Midnight Swim like worst behavior that’s with a U.

So I assume that’s some sort of so sausage purveyor you know him about to google it right, Yes, Tycoon, Flats, Burger Boy, and more. I haven’t got on a food diversion in a while, have I know? Let’s say, what is it? Worst Behavior Sausages, classic burgers, and delectable snacks, all expertly crafted and responsibly sourced. Their website says Worst Behavior is San Antonio’s first Asian inspired beer garden concept based upon great beer, great food, and great energy.

With its Neotokio esthetic and its Zen Garden sensibilities, You’re gonna want to stay on your Worst Behavior looks pretty cool. Rob Reiner talked to Variety about the sequel to This Is Spinal Tap. In the new version, Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Garth Brooks will appear The Spinal Taps Christopher Guest, Michael McKinnon, Harry Sheer return, so does Rob Reiner as the documentarian Marty. The sequel is said to mimic the style of Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz. Reiner said the key to making a movie with a loose script is that you get people who are good at improvising.

You have to get people feel comfortable doing that. Then you’re off to the Races. Writer added, you don’t want to overstate you’re welcome. It’s like Stanap. You leave them wanting you get off on a big laugh and go out.

The worst thing you could do is just load it up with Even if they’re funny things, they may be tangents and things that take away from the drive of the film. Kim Kardashian will start in a comedy for Netflix that’s weird. It’s called The Fifth Wheel. We don’t know too much about it other than Kardashian will play the Fifth Wheel alongside a female ensemble cast. No cast announced, no name announced, no date announced.

By the way, if you like the Kardashians, there’s a podcast called card Talk kard Talk. They’ll keep you posted on the Kardashians. His Moto caught up with Dan Harman about the Rick and Morty recasting of the voices. You know, I’ve gotten used to it. I don’t worry about it.

I still don’t think Rick starter’s enough and the Morty’s a little off. But as Dan Harmon said, I think the silent majority and the healthy majority are like, Okay, this is as good as you can manage. The characters are still live. That was a gol from the outset. Fans of the show consider them fans of the characters, and they just want to continue to watch the show and feel that these characters are still live.

And it seems we were successful in that mission. I think there’s an air of religious zelotry to the people who are insisting that the voices are somehow unignorably catastrophically different. I think most people are saying, all right, it sounds like Rick, and it sounds like Morty. Let’s proceed and let me catch you up on this thing. Joe Lycett did.

He had announced a podcast and it’d gotten a lot of pickup from the press release on podnews dot net. Joe Lycett has a brand new podcast and it’s a load of s word turd to cast. The description Joe has always been fascinated by the great leveler that is going to the toilet. From King Charles to Gary Barlow, we all need to jump to do a dump, flee to do a WII, or grit to do an s word. Literally, no one is too hot to squat.

You get the idea. Gary Lineker joins Joe for the very first episode of turd Cast, where he discusses the now legendary moment where he relieved himself on the pitch in England’s opening game with the nineteen ninety World Cup in front of hundreds of millions of people. So you got the idea. I didn’t cover it because I don’t like to play on that side of the street. Oh bo wait, there’s a twist.

Joe has revealed that the launch event for his new podcast, which ended with sewage leaking into Liverpool’s Albert Dock, was a stunt to highlight the issue of watercummpanies dumping waste into Britain’s waterways. Well played, Lisaid had set up a pop up toilet aka the Turtis, inviting fans to come down and share their most embarrassing lou based stories for his new turred Cast podcast. Joe said, what I like to do is do big stunts that get people talking about the big issues. And sometimes those stunts go to plan and sometimes they don’t. Well, on this occasion, everything went exactly to plan.

Of course, I didn’t spill ross sewage into the Royal Albert Dock. What do you think? I am GB News? No was fake sewage from a fake toilet to promote the fake podcast. Turd Cast was never real, although we did record one with the real Gary Lineker, and it would have been better to use a fake Gary as we would have saved a lot of money.

So why did I spill fake sewage other than because I’m desperate for tension and Instagram likes. Well, I spilled fake sewage to get people talking about the real sewage which is being spilled every year and the billions of leaders by our water companies. Last year, according to one analysis, one point four billion pounds and dividends was paid out to shareholders of the water companies. It’s a lot of money that could be used to improve the sewage network and reduce spills. If you agree, you can go on a website and send an email to your water company asking them to sign up for what we’re calling Joe’s Who Promise.

Caloroga Shark Media. Oh man, buckle up. I’m going to tell you about the porn star that’s mad at Eliza Slessinger and how in the same story you get Matt Rife and Osama bin Laden. Yeah. Hi, I’m Johnny Mac with your Daily Comedy News.

But let’s ease into it with Late Night. Stephen Colbert had to cancel his episodes for the week. He has a ruptured appendix. Colbert was on social media and said, sorry to say after cancel our shows this week, I’m sure you’re thinking turkey overdose, Steve Gravy boat capsize. Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix.

Canceled guests include Barbara Streisan, Jennifer Garner, Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer. I assume they’ll be rescheduled at some point. Colbert said, I’m grateful to my doctors for their care into Eve and the kids for putting up with me. Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.

Meanwhile, Newsweek tells us Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back when he brutally d…

Green has a new book she’s looking to promote it. She tweeted, Hey, Jimmy Kimmel, since most of your show content is your NonStop lies about me, why don’t you have me on your show. I’ll bring you a copy of my book and we can chat about what needs to happen to All caps save America. Kimmel on his show said, I guess I’m a Hollywood libtard that’s part of the celebrity pedophile Satan club. Until she has a book to promote, then I’d love to swing by.

This woman called the police on me for a joke and now she wants to be a guest on the show. Though I have to admit part of me wants to invite her here so I can let her wait for an hour down to the green room doing power squats and then bump her, even just to screw with Matt Damon. It would be fun, but I also don’t want Rabi’s. Kimmel then looked at how Green’s book was doing on the charts and said on Amazon it’s ranked number nine and forty six. It’s ranked number sixty five in the Women’s Buyer fhy category, which puts it fifty places behind a book written by Kanye’s ex girlfriend, fifty one places behind Michelle Obama’s book from twenty eighteen, fifty four places behind Michelle Obama’s other book in sixty places behind Paris Hilton’s Paris the Memoir.

Marjorie Taylor Green’s book is such a bomb, I might have to report it to the Capitol Police. On November sixteenth, Jimmy revealed he’d received a letter from Trump Media and Technology Group. That’s the organization that runs Trump’s social media site. It requested that Jimmy Kimmel retracted a statement he had made. Apparently, Jimmy had suggested that truth Social had lost seventy three million dollars since its launch.

However, Jimmy and his team went back and checked their filing with the SEC, and it turned out truth Social had lost thirty one point six million dollars. Kimmel told viewers several credible sources were reporting truth Social had lost that other amount, which eventually turned out to be incorrect. Jimmy said, in other words, and in fairness, truth Social is in a colossal failure. It’s only an abysmal failure. And I’d like to do the right thing and congratulate our balloon animal former president and his company on only losing thirty one point six million dollars for you.

That’s pretty good. That’s one of your best performances yet. Listeners to this podcast can send their letters to Jimmy Kimmel. Tiffany Hannish said about her dy, this will never happen again, She told Entertainment tonight, I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries. Pornstar Miya Khalifa has left sashed out at Eliza Slessinger.

On Monday on Instagram, Eliza criticized people who had been targeting her with messages over speaking out against anti Semitism. In a lengthy post, Eliza Slessinger wrote, this neo liberal wet dream that’s supporting Hamaster. Using the word genocide when it comes to Israel from thousands of mile away with no context, makes you look informed or ahead of some social curve. Is an actual nightmare for those of us who can’t just set this down when the high of being a social media crusader wears off. In another section of Liza said, what living in a free country is only good when you want to safely spout code a Jewish hatred.

But your agency’s freedom to not support you back is where you feel you’ve been violated. Tell that to the innocent Jews being assaulted across the globe. What about their freedom? Guess it doesn’t count. Freedom works both ways.

You’re free to have an opinion and people are free not to support you. F around and find out that post caught the attention of Mia Khalifa, the former adult film star. Last month, Khalifa lost some business contracts after a Twitter post about Palestinian quote freedom fighters unquote On Twitter, Khalifa took a screenshot of Slessinger’s Instagram post and tagged it with I do not support all women some of you be words are very dumb. Then there’s Matt Rife. Matt was on the canceled with Ton of Mango podcast and I think it’s best if I just let Matt speak for himself.

Here are the words of Matt Rife now before I play them. I don’t think this clip was edited. I pulled the audio from a video clip and I don’t think the audio has been manipulated. I saw several sources and they all had the same audio, but I do want to allow for the possibility that the audio has been manipulated. I’m not accusing anybody of anything, but just when you hear the clip, I don’t want to just like throw a water balloon in Matt Rife’s direction and run away.

So I want to be fair, but I don’t think the audio is manipulated. That said, I’m going to do a couple edits here I once alter the context of what Matt is saying. I’m just trimming it down for flow so that I don’t play a minute and a half clip here here are the words of Matt Rife. Who do you hate? Come on?

That’s the thing. I don’t really to hate anybody. I don’t. Here’s here’s a very humbling experience that I’ve I guess epiffan that I’ve had recently because so many people hate me for really no reason. And it really made me realize that like people only hate somebody they’re jealous of.

And I’ve been I’ve been guilty of hating people. And when I really sat back and thought about it, it was because I was jealous of where that person was in their life. I felt like maybe they got an opportunity that I should have gotten. So now that I’m doing so much better for myself, I don’t have that energy towards anybody. I really don’t like.

I’m happy and very lucky to be where I’m at right now. So I don’t have like a beef with anybody. And I was gonna fight somebody, it might be like, I don’t know, it might be like Will Smith or something. He seemed to have a good right hook, right. No.

I love Will Smith, but I’m like, hey, if a he’s in great shape, it’s a great competition. And be he hit Chris Rock, So I was like, as part of the comedy community, I feel like that was a really really good, well rounded answer. I’m trying to wrap my head around. Do you think people who hate Osama bin Laden are jealous of him? Yeah?

Of course, of course they’re mad that he wasn’t the one calling the shots. Of course, everyone wants to be the one with the remote. Yeah, that’s tough. The Messenger caught up with Gabriel Iglesias. He’s forty seven and says, at this point in his life, I’m just trying to live long enough to spend the money.

That’s my motivation. It’s going very well. He jokes. He used to have hair, hope and happiness, and you know now we’re here. Gabe used to weigh four hundred and thirty seven pounds, and twenty thirteen he was told he only had two years to live.

He’s dropped over one hundred pounds in the years since. So I met Gabe when we launched Comedy Central Radio and the press release for that I just looked it up, went out on May fifteenth, twenty thirteen. So I met Gabe in twenty thirteen. You know, not these guineas fellow I’ve ever met, But I wouldn’t have guessed four hundred and thirty seven pounds around then. Cool guy, exactly who you think he is.

On his health, Gabe says, I’m very good about seeing doctors regularly, and I think that’s the biggest thing because before that wasn’t the case.

And now I’m scheduling things, I’m keeping my appointments and taking my medi…

Some very very involved. Before I was just letting this train run crazy. Heather McMahon responded to some criticism. She said, this guy was like, man, you really go in on married life and your husband Heather said, guys have been doing this forever. Just because I’m a woman, it seems a little jaring.

Alli Wong talked about her family. Amy Schumer talks about her family, all these other families people talk about their families. When the girls do it, people have to say something about it. How long have men been talking about how crazy their wives are and how their kids are driving them nuts? Desi Leidach talked about the Daily Show being off during the strike, and you know, did she miss doing specific news stories?

An example she thought of were the Trump indictments, and she said, you think now would be a good time to be on the air and unpacked this and talk about the ridiculousness of all this. You have good news days and bad news days, and that was a damn good news day. But for me, the story that I most desperately wanted to be on the air for was when all flight passenger had a horrible number two incident all over the airplane. I believe they described it as quotes all throughout the airplane. I just went like, come on, of all days, that would be such a great day, What an easy story.

We know our audience. Okay, so no indictments, not women’s reproductive rights. No, it was the day the gentlemen had an epic accident on a delta flight that I thought that people need to know this. As for guest hosting the Daily Show, she got a shot last week after Trevor left and there was an opportunity for some of us to get to sit in and try it on for size. I of course raised my hand, went put me and coach.

Those opportunities don’t always come along, sometimes never, and certainly rarely, so of course I wanted to jump in and give it a try. See. It was like if they ever let me the scary thing. Because I’d never done it before, I didn’t know could I do it, how would it go? Would I enjoy it?

I knew that walking into it. Out of all the sport in the world. From the team, we have the most incredible team of writers and producers and colleagues that I have worked with for eight years. It’s a machine. They’re very, very good at what they do.

I loved every step of the process. I loved the morning meeting and sitting in a room with some of the funniest people in the business and the smartest people in the industry, and cracking jokes, and then the rehearsal process and the rewrite. It all moves so quickly. They’re a well oiled machine there. But every step of the process was so much fun.

So quote Evil Bill Angvall was at the National Donuts chain again at his corner, drinking his coffee, but real Bill Angvall caught up with Fox News and discussed why he moved out of California moved to Utah. Bill said, we were in California for thirty years. We had a good time. We had a great time. I always said, if you can’t find something to do in California, you’re not you know, there was nothing in California that we ever went, Oh my god, we got to get out of here.

I still have a funness for California, and like I said, if work comes, it’s probably gonna come out of LA I still go back and do TV shows, you know, talk shows, stuff like that. I’d accomplished everything I want to do in the business.

And then also economically, I mean, the taxes were just becoming insane, and …

But I don’t hate California. I felt more at home. If that makes sense. I mean, I’m from Texas and I love Texas, but I don’t know if I could ever move back there. It’s got its pluses and minuses, just like every state does.

But I never saw Utah on our radar at all, you know. But again it was probably my narrow mindedness of judging what it was like.

And then I got to realize, oh, this is nothing like what I thought.

In his upcoming special, here is your sign, It’s finally time my last show, Billing Vall does make some sort of joke at California and says I probably could have left that one out. Wasn’t really necessary, but you know, it was a joke. Not sure what the joke is, but billiing Ball specials out December fifth. The founder of Students for Trump is Ryan, and Ryan asked Roseann a question, who do you think President Trump should choose as his VP pick. Roseanne said me.

That started a little social media flurry. One Twitter user wrote love Roseanne, but no, Another said no, I like her as a comedian, but not a VP pick. A lot of what she says is distasteful. Trump already has a hard time getting the berb women a vote for him, with Barr they would double down and vote for anyone. But back in twenty eleven, Roseanne announced she’d be running for president in the third party.

She went to the Green Party but lost that nomination to Jill Stein. She still ran and got sixty seven thousand writing votes. Wow. Julia Luis Dreyfus told Fox she used AI to write an acceptance speech, but the AI thought Julia Luis Dreyfus was Julia Roberts j LD. Was the honoree at the Wall Street Journal magazine twenty twenty three Innovator Awards.

Her speech wet like this. As an entertainment innovator, I am very very busy innovating, So I did what any other innovator where her assault would do. I turned to chat GPT four ladies and gentlemen, is Steam guests and fellow investors. Today is a movement of profound gratitude and reflection for me as I accept the great honor of being recognized as the Investor of the Year by the Wall Street Journal. That got some laughs.

Reflecting on this milestone, I’m reminded of the unwavering support of my family and the unyielding dedication of my team that has been the driving force behind my investment strategies. And my performance is in Aaron Brockovich, Pretty Women and Mystic Pizza. And that’s your comedy news for today. If you like the show, tell somebody about it theym I like it too, and I’ll see you here tomorrow. You can listen on Apple podcasts, Spotify, overcast podcasts, YouTube, wherever you get shows.
